I'm here as well but sufferring badly from morning (afternoon) sickness today and only really listening in for the company of you all in my misery. Did not want to actually share this misery with you.

Glad to see TT that you bought that dress.

Jem have a wonderful time in NYC - take an emptyish case to fill with lovely American clothes

tokentotty · 21/03/2007 14:51

Do Gap over here do maternity ?? Have never heard of that and wouldn't have given it a thought to look to be honest. Kinda wish I knew for definitely what flavour my lo is so could go shopping in Spain next week. Still, will probably know for my April visit and then enrol my sil to help perhaps. They do seem to have such different, lovely things in European countries. How long are you in NY for Jem ?
Poor you Wash, your little fella isn't having much luck at the moment is he ?

tokentotty · 21/03/2007 14:54

Oh Kite you poor thing to be still suffering. I reckon that any time now you're going to be completely over this sickness and feel great. I have faith !!

kiteflying · 21/03/2007 14:58

Thanks tt. I gathered you were away.
I was ill last week in the afternoons and evenings as well, but had put it down to not snacking as often as I do in London. Unfortunately it appears that I am just still suffering from morning sickness.

All a good sign of a girl on the way though if you believe in that...Must update that shortlist.

kiteflying · 21/03/2007 14:59

Sorry washersauraus I missed your post about your son. I hope he feels better soon - is it this sudden cold snap that has affected him?

Washersaurus · 21/03/2007 15:04

Thanks - I think all DS' illnesses are prob nursery related as his friend is also ill again too.

Annoying though as it is always a nursery day when he is ill and we still have to pay the fees even when he doesn't go! Maybe they are poisoning them

Washersaurus · 21/03/2007 15:05

Kite it does sound like a girl with your prolonged morning sickness - have you got your girls names sorted?

jem1969 · 21/03/2007 15:14

Sorry about all the sickness.

No, GAP don't do maternity over here although they have so many shops here it would probably be worth their while. They do good basic stuff- jeans, t-shirts etc. I love my Gap jeans normally so have high hopes. Also because of the exchange rate at the moment all nice and cheap- well a lot cheaper than here anyway...

kiteflying · 21/03/2007 15:16

Yes, I hid them amidst my long ramble on Monday for fear of being ridiculed for being so boring. We have Miles, George, Henry or Finlay for a boy, and Isabel, Sofia, Heather, Louisa, Grace or Lucy for a girl.

Heather is probably a bit boring/overpopular but it always reminds me of climbing in the Scottish highlands in summer a few years ago.

jem1969 · 21/03/2007 15:22

TT- have a lovely week in Spain- hope the weather's kind to you

bambi06 · 21/03/2007 15:25

hi everyone, im due my third in aug and thought id say hi. my other two are nearly 6 and 7 so will be at school which will help to start with and they love babies big time and are very helpful so i`m trying not to worry just yet about everything,
hoping to have homebirth as yes this will be last and want to try to do it at home this time.. anybody else with older kids and being an older mom of 40 ?

kiteflying · 21/03/2007 15:38

older mum at thirty-nine here - but this is my first

Washersaurus · 21/03/2007 15:54

sorry kite I did see your list the other day - they are all lovely names, especially like Heather & Lucy (my nieces name). Have toyed with the idea of George for a boy myself....

jem1969 · 21/03/2007 15:54

I'm feeling pretty old at 37- first as well. Although MW did say it ws nice to see someone with a 'proper' year of birth- 1969). I think all her mothers are either under 16 or over 35 so she was getting sick of birthdates in the 1990s...

Washersaurus · 21/03/2007 15:56

Hi Bambi! What date are you due? Sounds like you've got 2 willing helpers for when baby arrives!

Washersaurus · 21/03/2007 15:57

I'm feeling positively childlike here this afternoon

tokentotty · 21/03/2007 15:58

Oh God.....the thought of people with birthdates in the 1990's having babies is making me at 31 even feel old !!!

kiteflying · 21/03/2007 16:04

I refuse to feel old - although this continuing morning sickness seems some kind of penance for having the temerity to have a baby so close to forty!

kiteflying · 21/03/2007 16:06

Thanks washersaurus for liking my girls' names. I am tempted to give her a triple name to use as many faves as possible.

tokentotty · 21/03/2007 16:08

I'm aiming for three names as that's what I've got. DH isn't sure and for some reason says it's 'posh' ? anyway, I will win... I noticed Finlay in your list and really liked that actually Kite.

Washersaurus · 21/03/2007 16:11

I don't think MS is age related, lol...and you aren't exactly OLD!

I'm just going to hang around and steal everyone elses name ideas as other than George I haven't come up with any yet

kiteflying · 21/03/2007 16:14

Thanks TT. My BF wanted Finn, but I prefer Finlay.

I don't think three is too posh. I suppose it depends how nay syllables each name has: you would want to stop before the names become a veritable sentence.

tokentotty · 21/03/2007 16:18

Well, you know he'll end up called Finn by most people but you'll always call him Finlay so it's a good compromise as he'd have the option of calling himself either.

kiteflying · 21/03/2007 16:19

Washersaurus - I made a list from another thread where someone was bewailing their inability to choose boys' names. Some that came up that I liked -

Rory
Rufus
Leonardo or Leo
Hector (unfortunately the name of a children's character in Australia so not on our list)
Theo
Elijah
Wilfred
Addison
Alfred

We are still toying with Alfred, but just a bit worried that it might be too English for Australian folks (mind you, I have not given away Miles or George yet)

kiteflying · 21/03/2007 16:23

TT, I thought Finlay might look better in the write up of his business bio when he heads a Fortune 500 company
