He never leaves early for 'childcare issues' but his SAHM wife is on the phone to him at leat 10 times a day asking him what she should buy for supper that night, what she should do about this that and the other, demanding a new volvo 4x4, getting him to do an Ocado shop online etc. Sometimes I feel a bit sorry for him but mostly not! (the kids are quite old, she is not stuck at home with a screaming baby going mad or anything and desperate for some conversation). God- wouldn't it be awful if she logged onto here, read this and recognised herself and him!

katybird · 19/03/2007 15:18

A few home truths might do the trick by the sound of it!

kiteflying · 19/03/2007 15:51

Itchynscratchy - Ayesha is a very pretty Arabic name, have you considered that one?
I have had to work hard to talk my BF out of Ruby, as we both have grandmothers with that name.
I Like it but it is SO popular now and I really want our baby to have his or her own name and not one handed down from someone else.
Jem I have not nearly as bad but similar relations with my immediate manager at work. Always off to sports days and to pick up children from school or to visit private schools open days but very little sympathy for my pregnancy caused absences, and arranging for leave is like asking for the world. Always being made to feel guilty for being pregnant is not the best interpretation of the HR mandate for "ordinary care and concern" in my view.
At least he is not creepy I guess.

Mrsshuvel · 19/03/2007 15:58

Kite - Ruby was always top of my list (even before being PG) until the character in Eastenders arrived. It always puts me off when popular character in a soap has a name i like. I agree Ayesha is a beautiful name.

BabyMadwithBump · 19/03/2007 16:45

Hi all, baby was hiding IT'S bit's not only behide it's legs but feet and hands as well he/she really didn't want us to know and to top it off the lady scaning me spent 15 mins looking at the baby's brain and ask someone else to check so we got very worried but all seems fine they said (very reasureing ), and I have a low placenta PLUS baby is on the small side so I'm alittle on the down side (plus upset)but DH is booking a 4D scan for in a few weeks time, so we'll know then weather or not he/she wants me to and to help us!

itchyncsratchy · 19/03/2007 16:58

Hi! Ayesha is not bad, hmm I aways loved Aaliyah, a friend at school, but a friend here has called her daughter Aaliyah. It doesn't see fair that someonelse got there first!

stretchmarks · 19/03/2007 17:07

Hi All,

Glad everyone's scan went well. Conkertree I wouldn't worry about the low lying placenta they do tend to move out of the way in time.

Well we are having another boy, so chuffed I had a strong feeling it was another boy. It'll be out with the book of baby names tonight to start thinking about boys names. He was a very active one for the scan had some great profiles and have already phoned now to try and book in for a 4d scan to take DS1 along to see his brother.

Kiteflying hope you have a great time in NY - what is it with bosses I am sure some of them are sent on courses that teach them how to wind up thier staff. Luckily my boss at the moment is very good which is helpful beause I feel my IQ has halved this past week. I have confused myself as well as my manager on several conference calls. Nearly as good as my classic line to DH on Friday night whilst watching comic relief I start talking about Fern Britten - DH says those Ryvitas are certainly working it was Fern Cotton presenting it

itchyncsratchy · 19/03/2007 17:11

Ahh congrats babymad, how frustrating but reassuring to have seen your babe. Don't be too down low lying placentas move and I think you have company for that on here.
Those 4D scans are wonderful but I doubt I'll have chance to get one.
I've also always liked Ruby, Scarlett and Poppy but they feel a bit overdone. Overheard last week in mamas and papas between 2 mums of young boys "Dyl? Short for Dylan? So's my son" "Oh no, Dill as in herb!"
Haha!

conkertree · 19/03/2007 17:17

babymad - sounds like we had almost identical scans. she kept measuring the head and brain and saying - are you sure you're 20 weeks? (and I'm 20 + 5 today) so it was a bit unsettling.

have they given you another scan for the low lying placenta? i have one at 30 weeks so they can see if it's moved yet.

BabyMadwithBump · 19/03/2007 17:30

I'm 20+3 today and was confrimed too, I have a scan booked for the 4th/07 so that is be my 4th NHS scan this PG, my boys were both big babies even at this point but this LO is small And I hope the placenta moves by then as I might want a HB!

KatieandBB · 19/03/2007 17:35

I have mine next week, but DH is insisting we don't find out the sex and has got quite angry about it.

Lovely to hear about all your news though

I want to know, and although I respect his decision not to this is my first baby (his second)and I don't like the fact that because he doesnt want to know neither can I.

HMMPH!

this should maybe have been on a "am I being unreasonable but" thread...

itchyncsratchy · 19/03/2007 17:42

Ahh Katie I hope you can convince dh if you're certain you want to know, but if not best not get too stressed about it, you'll know soon enough!
A friend knew but refused to tell her dh!

pinkranger · 19/03/2007 17:44

conker and babymad- sure the plancters will move up they normally do ( fingers crossed anyway)

i very of all the scans, mine is not for 4 more weeks as my hosptial do them at 22 weeks!!! cant belive i have to wait that long!!!

Strechmarks - Congraulations on your boy, we are also having anthore boy

hope everyone else is well xxxx

KatieandBB · 19/03/2007 17:47

they might not even tell us - problem solved!

I am going to look extra specially closely anyway and see if I can tell myself.

tee hee hee!!

katybird · 19/03/2007 18:12

My friend's sister didn't want to know the flavour but her DH did, so he found out and didn't tell her. He told his mother too, which I think is a bit weird! Definitely don't want my MIL to know if I don't know.

You could get them to write it down and seal in an envelope, then you can take a look and he doesn't have to. Surely he can compromise? Have to see who the baby sides with when you have the scan!

stretchmarks · 19/03/2007 18:32

Babymad - missed your post whilst writing mine - like conkertree don't worry about the placenta plenty of time for it to move.

Also I was reading some research last night on the 20 week scans and there was alot of information about how inaccurate they are with regards to trying to determine a baby's size irrelevant of the expereience of the sonographer. There are so many stories you'll find on mumsnet as well about people who have been told baby is too big or too small only to be perfectly average when born. Sometimes too much information can be a bad thing. Try not to worry and hopefully the 4d scan will have you feeling more positive.

kiteflying · 19/03/2007 18:33

Mrsshuvel, it's Jem who is flying to NYC. Envious but it's not me! I am sticking to short haul flights for the mo.

Pixey · 19/03/2007 18:33

Hi all
I have been reading this thread for weeks and am begining to feel like a peeping Tom

I'm 18+3 and Scans not till 22 weeks. So Pink Ranger we can be envious together.

kiteflying · 19/03/2007 18:33

Oh, I meant stretchmarks - sorry!

pinkranger · 19/03/2007 18:36

welcome pixey !!!

stretchmarks · 19/03/2007 18:46

kiteflying - sorry I can't keep track of anything at the moment - think it's time to get some supplements in again either that or a brain transplant !!!!

kiteflying · 19/03/2007 18:55

Well I think it is pretty obvious that I also am struggling to keep up. Welcome Pixey!

Augustbride · 19/03/2007 19:09

babymad or stretchmarks , can I ask where you are having your 4d scans done?

We have our 20wk scan at Queens on Thursday but are also considerig the 4D scan.

Thanks!

Washersaurus · 19/03/2007 19:34

Hi everyone, sorry I missed so much today.

After my scan last week you can also add me to the low lying placenta club - I have another scan at 30 weeks to check if its moved. Hopefully it will be OK by then, but as long as baby is fine I'm sure we can deal with anything else.

So jealous of those of you who have actually managed to shortlist names - DH and I can't agree on 1 at the moment!! Then again it took us 9mths to come up with DS' so maybe we'll have a flash of inspiration.

BabyMadwithBump · 19/03/2007 20:01

Ebay LOL, the scan is based in nott's and it's £75/£85 which isn't bad at all seen the for alot more!
