Hi Babymad, glad you and bump are ok after that fall.

Just checked out your pics - I'm glad someone else has an impressive sized bump like I do!!

I am 1 of 9 children and didn't really have any kind of relationship with my mum until I was pregnant with DS (she left us when we were little) so I can totally sympathise with your family situation. Glad it sounds like you have support at home.....and you can always talk to us

Washersaurus · 16/03/2007 19:01

Maybe you could design us all a 'MN - due August' t-shirt ?

BabyMadwithBump · 16/03/2007 19:10

Washersaurus that pic was taken 6 weeks ago much biger now. And maybe we counld have due in august on the back and what ever we wanted on the fount! But they would only cost £10 a t-shirt, as I get discount !

Washersaurus · 17/03/2007 12:26

I've been quite big for a few weeks too - I feel like I look about 7 mths pregnant! Mind you I was MASSIVE last time too. I get so jealous of those women (you know who you are ) who have lovely neat little bumps and no extra weight anywhere else.

Can't currently think of anything witty enough to put on a t-shirt (don't think anyone is going to want to advertise that they have severely itchy nipples), so will wait for someone else to make suggestion.

Uki · 18/03/2007 10:27

I have a question- how do i see the photos of people, do i have to be a CAT member or something, I can't find any thing to click. Sorry for the silly question

Uki · 18/03/2007 10:28

Don't worry, I realize now, close up blindness I think.

Uki · 18/03/2007 10:36

Uki · 18/03/2007 10:57

that's it giving myself a set of 20 PF exercises for being double silly.

I've just read all the profiles I could, can i make sweeping generaliastions and say you are all very patriotic when it comes to your books, but as for TV wow all lost, CSI, Prison Break and Desperate Housewives!!!

Uki · 18/03/2007 12:36

Oh for my fourth silly realization of the day, I've just realized it's Mother's Day over there, not here today you see.

So now I know your all tucked up having breakfast in bed and visiting your own mums

Have a wonderful Mother's Day

katybird · 18/03/2007 16:13

Sadly I'm at work on Mother's Day instead of being waited on hand and foot! Happy Mother's Day to everyone else though , and you too Uzi (you can celebrate it twice).

mum2george · 19/03/2007 06:39

Hi everyone

I haven't posted on here for ages but just wanted to say, I had my 20 week scan on Thursday and everything was OK!

After being told 2 pregnancies were over in the past at the 12 week scan stage you can probably guess I was a bit worried about this scan.

I'm so happy seeing my little one all healthy on the screen, the doctor spent ages scanning the bump as the baby just kept curling up and dozing away, ahhhh. Can't wait to meet him/her.

BabyMadwithBump · 19/03/2007 07:33

Scan today cant wait been up early and it's not till 2 LOL, but till going to a firends house, then on to town so that will keep me busy till it's time, cant wait I'm like a child at xmas, hopefully we'll get to find out weather baby is a boy or girl.

Babymadxx

Uki · 19/03/2007 10:19

Babymad- enjoy the scan today, look forward to hearing all about bean.

I have mine in a week and half, think we'll find out too, but I am also having second thoughts.

mum2george-congrat's on the good scan

kiteflying · 19/03/2007 12:48

Hi all, I have been away for the past week and seem to have missed loads of news from you all. I will probably miss someone but here goes -
conker, stretchmarks and Babymad - good luck with your scan today and Babymad hope you can avoid the TV!
Lizziemun - if you are still on, so sorry to hear about your Dad, hope you can focus on how lovely it must be for him that you are pregnant and a new life on the way
GillL - are these still aftereffects from your husband's last op? Sorry he is having such a hard time.
Jem, I have to second TT on the mumomega, it gives you peace of mind when you cannot face fish too many times.
TT - buy the dress!! It will look fab.
Katybird - I know this conversation is way old now, but I am like you still trying to avoid looking pregnant at work but oh the joy of being in maternity clothes for a week on holiday last. I feel so fat in normal clothes because I have a "fat" bump rather than a neat one.

On the continuing saga of my not getting any antenatal care due to my uncaring GP. I got a lovely referral last week from my private (work) GP, duly sent it off to Queen Charlottes on Thursday and by Saturday morning's post, the day before we went on holiday, I have already received a rejection letter that looked like a photocopy and just said that the hospital was booked up in August. I am seeing my new GP this Thursday but think I am going down the route of a private midwife. My BF is becoming as worried as I have been (at last) especially after reading the Sunday Times yesterday. He only left Australia last year and is still in shock at the facts of NHS maternity involving having to clean the bathrooms yourselves, and having only two to a ward being the norm. Yesterday's article was the last straw and he said we should definitely either have a doula or a midwife of our own. I can't get him to agree to a home birth though. I think the Australian prejudice against them is definitely ingrained.

We are still decided against finding out the sex of the baby (if we ever have a 20 week scan...) but have a short list of names thanks to actually spending a whole blissful week together on holiday. My "morning" sickness has always been worst in the evenings and I am sure my boyfriend has been wondering for the past four months what happened to the happy, warm-hearted girl he moved in with!!
We have Miles, George, Henry or Finlay for a boy, and Isabel, Sofia, Heather, Louisa, Grace or Lucy for a girl...and counting

Whoever mentioned the two significant signs of a girl on the way - I have both of them, despite the bliss of a sunny holiday the second one is still a big problem for me, and I was hoping for a return to form by now!! I am a bit put off by the "furry" tummy, it must be said. I normally go for a full leg and arm wax for summer months so not sure how I am going to deal with the new fuzzy tum. Does it go away after pregnancy (please say it does)?

Clothes - after my mishaps with FunMum and other net purchases, my darling man came home with a lovely dress and wrap top from benneton just before we went away, and, encouraged, we went back to their Spanish sister store when away and discovered some great trousers and long sleeved cotton tops which were just lovely on holiday. I suddenly felt smart again. Big recommendation, especially as they have a proper range of size in the extra-small, small and medium range, so no "waiting to fit" problems that I have with some of my JoJo Maman and ebay purchases. My Noppies jeans are the best fit ever, but I am not sure how easy they are to get in the UK. Mine came from a girl in York selling on ebay.

lovelybird · 19/03/2007 13:05

Hope it all goes well with the scan babymadwitbump. Look forward to hearing about it. Mine is 2 weeks today and I'm really excited already. Feeling the baby move loads now which is wonderful. 19 weeks today and counting...

conkertree · 19/03/2007 13:44

hi everyone - hope everyone had good weekends. like the names shortlist kiteflying - very organised.

had scan today. baby was very uncooperative(so scanner thought it was probably a boy - although couldnt see anything definite cause of the way it was lying). scan took about half an hour cause she couldn't get any of the measurements she wanted for several goes. she had to keep poking my tummy to try and get it to move.

turns out i have a low lying placenta, so will be back for another scan at 30 weeks. read a bit about it on the internet, but is probably not worth worrying about yet until i see if normal growth moves it away from the cervix or not in the next few weeks.

the baby lay there with its head lying on the placenta as a pillow, happily sucking it's thumb and ignoring the prods from the scanner. eventually she got all the measurements and the biggest one is it's tummy - maybe i shouldn't be eating so much chocolate - the baby will be obese before i even give birth.

so hopefully things will move - would rather not have to have a caesarean if possible, but will just have to get on with it if its necessary -sounds like quite a lot of low placentas do move up over the next two months.

anybody else back from the scan yet?

itchyncsratchy · 19/03/2007 14:08

Hi all!
Good luck babymad.
I had my scan at 17 weeks, late for the nuchal and early for the anomolies but it was very clear and I was amazed we saw so much. My daughter (feels wonderful to say!!) wasn't very cooperative so we didn't have a chance to see her face, to check for cleft palate, but I have beautiful profile photos (father's nose!)
Scan technology astounded me, checked heart chambers, counted fingers and toes, kidneys etc- absolutely incredible I'm still grinning now a week later!
Have to say knowing the sex makes name lists easier, dp is muslim and while had the perfect boys name I'm not fond of arabic girl's names at all. My list of names is an A-Z of old ladies names but luckily dp has no idea of the prejudice against names ike Ethel and Agnes! I just love the freshness of names we don't hear everyday.

katybird · 19/03/2007 14:29

Hi everyone, hope you're all well today. Reading about the scans makes me jealous, got two weeks to wait for mine yet. Glad yours were all fine though !

kiteflying - your holiday sounds wonderful, we're off to France over easter and I can't wait. Good luck with the private mw, you'll get there eventually! I was going to be booked in to the midwife-led unit at hospital but now I'm leaning towards a birth centre instead. Glad I'm not the only one skulking about in tihght-fitting clothes at work too! Thanks for the Noppies jeans tip, will try to find some.

We've been talking about names but DP can't get beyond Logan for a boy, he can't think of any girl names at all! Not sure I'd go as far as Ethel but I like old-fashioned names too. I lived with a German girl called Doris at uni and she got the piss taken all the time.

Mrsshuvel · 19/03/2007 14:33

Hi Ladies

Good luck to everyone with their scans. Mine's not til next week and i can't wait.

Kite - Glad you had a lovely holiday. Counting down the days til i go away now. Have to wait another month though.

Itchy - love the old lady names. Had a few on my list but DP didn't like them.

Spent all day saturday cleaning (what an exciting life i lead) and trying to do some washing in the broken washing machine Managed to get the essentials done. Spent sunday morning arguing with DP about stupid washing machines again. He still wants to get the ridiculously priced one but i think i'm just going to go ahead and order the Bosch. Then spent Sunday afternoon not talking to him because he stressed me out so much. I'm sure my blood pressure must have been sky high. Went and had a lovely relaxing bath and read a book and ignored him. Then DP spent all evening trying to make up for stressing me out, gave me a lovely massage with the Palmers.

I think i felt the baby kick this morning, I'm 19 weeks does anyone know if that is too early or could it have actually been a kick?

Has everyone been doing their PFs today?

katybird · 19/03/2007 14:41

Thank you for the reminder Mrsshuvel! Doing them now.

19 weeks isn't too early, it just depends on the baby. How exciting! I'm 17 weeks and haven't felt anything yet but some of my friends could feel them earlier on.

Mrsshuvel · 19/03/2007 14:44

Been feeling movement now for a few weeks. Can't wait for DP to be able to feel it too.

jem1969 · 19/03/2007 14:48

Afternoon all- well done on all the scans- mine is 2 weeks today. Can't wait (but also a little nervous). Haven't felt any movements at all yet...anyone else not felt anything yet?

Need a rant about my f-ing boss (the slightly pervy one-see earlier post). Just asked if I could work from home on Thursday as I am flying to New York and the thought of lugging in my luggage onto a packed tube so I can go from work straight to the airport does not appeal- I can barely summon the energy to get myself up the tube stairs, let alone me and bags up stairs, onto tubes etc. Also home is far nearer the airport than work.
He always takes bloody ages to make any decision. Finally said yes but you'd think I'd asked for a 50 grand payrise or something the big deal he made of it. Bearing in mind that we have full access to all our systems at home and there is noone to talk to therefore I get far more work done at home than I do in the office.I hate him! (and his wife, who told me at the last work do that I ought to hurry up and have children as I'd left it a little late....)

Sorry- just had to get it off my chest! It's a pain as was hoping to do some work from home later on when it's 100 degrees outside and the tubes are packed with sweating people. His attitude does not bode well! (However- I am off to New York so suppose I shouldn't complain too much- have been browsing the maternity shops out there- nice stuff and so cheap).

Mrsshuvel · 19/03/2007 14:56

Hi Jem, do you feel better now, i always do after a good rant on MN. It saves me from actually biting the head off the person i am angry with. I know exactly what you mean about tubes and luggage. I made my company pay for cabs for me when i was expected to work away from the office for a week. There was no way i was lugging suitcases up and down escalators and onto crowded tubes.

katybird · 19/03/2007 15:08

Jem, your boss sounds a right pain. Luckily mine is always nicking off early - "childcare issues" - so he can't complain about me! Some people are so inconsiderate. Just think of the holiday (and the maternity leave in the summer!).

jem1969 · 19/03/2007 15:08

i do feel a bit better thanks! To be fair it's holiday and not a work trip but I'm not asking for anything apart from a bit of compassion!
