Just thought I'd better kick a new one off...
Another day, another tearful outburst at work! It's getting very embarrassing Is it just me who feels like crying at the drop of a hat? Maybe it's lack of sleep, just not dealing very well with things that would not normally bother me, then something really small sets me off. cried in the toilets for 20 minutes today! Can't even explain why. Is this normal still at this stage?

You are just a wealth of information foxy! Glad you are here! I'm just really scared that if things are quicker than last time that the contractions will be even more intense and I won't be able to cope. I really don't think that being in hospital would help though as I really don't fancy having drugs. I'm also scared that I won't be able to push as I'm terrified of tearing again! Oh dear I may be scaring first timers again!

Hope things get better soon with your dp.

foxybrown · 19/03/2007 10:44

you'll be so much more relaxed at home, you won't be disappearing with DH, and its a lovely way for DD to meet her brother or sister.

Oooh, I can't wait!

hollyandalice · 19/03/2007 10:52

When's your edd foxy? Mine is June 19th. It seems ages away. I just want the next couple of months to hurry up and pass!! Babies are great, childbirth is not!

foxybrown · 19/03/2007 10:56

I'm not until 29th! Seems like such a long way off, doesn't it? I'm really looking forward to childbirth (yep, I am a weirdo). Last time was really easy. My only worry is that DD was 10 days late. Both DS's were on their due date.

Though if this one is late I'll still be able to go to Wimbledon

Seansgirl · 19/03/2007 10:58

Foxy what a PITA for you! Its shit like this you just don't need esp with the week you've had . I hope things cool down for you soon, we're here for you if you need us. Fingers crossed.

I'm with you on the sharp stitch like pains BTW Foxy, not experienced BHs. Good to hear Bumper and Marylou are ok! I have real stresses with LOs movements. I did last time too. With both prgs I get very sporadic movements, the odd real hard poke or kick and lots of little shuffles here and there. Also with both I get quite a few movements that I feel (ahem down below) where I think LO is bouncing up and down.Is that the Riverdance that you guys are getting? But then some days I can't feel much for hours. Its very unnerving

Has Cath delivered yet Lilkel? Thought of you this morning when I saw the Lilli Kelly kids shoes advert - the name being similar. Your kitchen must be so much better now its calm and neutral, red is definately not a kitchen colour is it?

Foxy, they asked me if I wanted a homebirth this time round and I said no, but now you've got me interested. Maybe I'll talk to my midwife about it, after all I live behind the hospital if all goes wrong. I suppose there is a chance they may not let me as I'm now consultant led care rather than MW.

This weekend had been very busy, with inlaws and then my family yesterday and I am looking forward to going to St Ives on Friday! Just hope there is no snow! DH has been thoroughly spoilt for his 40th! I think he has enjoyed himself and he seems pleased with his new 'posh' watch. And of course his very rich, and very lovely chocolate cake. Yesterday DBs and SIL and me & DH did dinner for DM and everyone (a course each) and DD made homemade custard creams to have with coffee/tea later. It was a lovely family day and DD got thoroughly over excited with all the attention she got! Making most of situation and not eating properly then promptly eating pudding, biscuits and chocolates so lucky she wasn't sick really, she is on a healthy diet this week; fruit and more fruit after that overload! Unlike her Mother of course!

foxybrown · 19/03/2007 11:06

Thanks Seansgirl, it'll get better I'm sure . I'm always disappointed on days like mothers day or birthdays. .

When I was PG with no2 I prepared for both, so it wasn't until I was in labour that I decided. I did actually phone the hospital and told them I intended to come in, but it was a hospital the otherside of town where I'd had DS1. I'd been booked in there, as well as closer to home for a HB and had double antenatal care. But when it came to the crunch the hospital said "why are you coming here? We've no room for you. Go to your local hospital". Despite being booked in there. So that was that, decision made. It was actually the best thing that could've happened!

Do you think your consultant will be keen to let you go for it?

Seansgirl · 19/03/2007 11:08

Me too Foxy 29th! It seems along time away -esp with quite a few on here at the beginning of June and are a couple of weeks ahead, feel very that they are closer. My whole mind is focused on just getting through those 14 odd weeks now, anybody that wants to arrange anything close to the time I'm trying to put off - I just want time to 'nest' and be prepared.

One piece of news I don't know if I'm or about os MIL and SFIL are coming over from France in May/beginning of June, they were talking about coming after the birth and had already persuaded DH that he should suggest they come 4-6 weeks afterwards. But now, they could be staying in our vicinity (have put foot down and said they are not staying here) approx Tue 29th - Mon 2nd. I just hope that LO is not early, as I have bad memories of MIL hanging over my shoulder when DD was 5 days old and I was desperately trying to breast fed.

foxybrown · 19/03/2007 11:11

yep! Totally understand Seansgirl! Having any in-laws to stay either immediately before or after should be banned!

I'm really enjoying this pregnancy and don't want to wish it away, but I want this baby!

Seansgirl · 19/03/2007 11:13

I don't know Foxy, I suppose if LOs growth is ok, and is heavy as they think he/she should be, then possibly. I had no complications last time - DD had to have the antidote for pethidine as they gave me that only 20 mins before she popped out! But I only had that as I was induced with the drip as my waters broke 4 days before and I didn't go into labour.

Seansgirl · 19/03/2007 11:15

I'm with you on that one, but I am impatient anyway. I just want to get on with it,if you see what I mean.

More i think about it bloody inlaws!

foxybrown · 19/03/2007 11:16

That sounds quiet positive! There's enough time to think about it. Everyone else will be in their last trimester weeks ahead of us!

We should do a list of who is due when, saw one on another Antenatal thread.

notsolilKel · 19/03/2007 11:35

holly, let me get this right - your labour was 4 hours start to finish????? ....

my kitchen is now very, very beige. At least it's not red!! Now I can add some white accents and it will be oh-so-very-neutralised .

Seansgirl thx for asking about my Cath order. In fact, no, my laundry baskets have not arrived, and never will. Spoke to them and apparently there was a warehouse problem. Hmm. So I cancelled the order. Now I have to find another glorious laundry basket to replace my broken plastic one!! White Company? Is there anywhere which sells reasonably priced nice home stuff in this country??? (In the US I love Restoration Hardware, Crate & Barrel, Pottery Barn, but am a bit lost here...)

fingers tired from typing. insomniac last night, so frustrating...

foxybrown · 19/03/2007 11:41

ha ha, i thought the Cath delivery reference was about a baby being born ... forgot about your laundry baskets!!

marylou23 · 19/03/2007 11:49

Seansgirl, do not envy you re MIL/SIL. Good for you for making sure they're not staying with you!! I'm unclear as to what my MIL expects - last time I saw her, she said 'make sure you call me as soon as you go into labour and we'll be down right away', which I kind of smiled at anxiously because frankly I cannot think of anything worse than MIL hanging around anywhere near me. DOn't get me wrong, we get on fine, but I kind of think of birth as a private moment, not a spectator show!!! DH craftily suggested not even calling her until the day after the birth, giving us a bit of breathing space . But whether we'll be able to stop them coming down to stay is another thing altogether. Is difficult becuase my parents are up the road and you want to be fair, but you also want your own space... I find other people staying really stressful, to be honest.
Am v. confused by weather. Is lovely and sunny right now; an hour ago we had a hail storm.

WaynettaSlob · 19/03/2007 11:52

Just gatecrashing to say I LOVE the title of this thread, and it makes me smile everytime it pops up in active convos!!
Good luck to you all!

foxybrown · 19/03/2007 11:52

what I don't understand is why on earth they think they can stay with us? We are packed to the rafters here, and usually we have to give up our bed for FIL/MIL to stay. My sis is close by so my family are OK, and know better than to even want to stay with us!!

marylou23 · 19/03/2007 11:55

BTW, am seriously over maternity clothes. Initial excitement (they're new! THey stretch! I can justify buying clothes without feeling guilty!) has subsided and all I can see is lovely spring/summer clothes everywhere and I can't fit into any of them! I mean, sure, there are more important things to worry about like world peace and stuff, but there is only so long you can walk around in stretchy trousers - even Isabella Oliver's finest - without going slowly mad. I could, of course, buy spring/summer maternity wear, but somehow I feel like with only 12 weeks or so to go, I can't justify a purchase. (Am in denial about the fact that I'll probably be wearing maternity wear well into the autumn... )

marylou23 · 19/03/2007 11:59

Foxy, I know. I don't like going to their's to stay, either - there's never enough space - and yet there's always a huge guilt trip if we only go for the day. Here's hoping that I remember all of this when my LO shacks up with someone.
Oh, God, no, he can't (she says, her heart racing suddenly). He's always going to be my precious little angel.
Yup, am going to MIL from hell!!!

hollyandalice · 19/03/2007 11:59

How very bad of Cath !! Poor show! Does she sell them in her shops? I'm very of your kitchen lilkel! Mine is horrible! Hopefully we can get it done before the small person arrives!

Yes my labour was 4 hours! I was given a prostin pessary at 3.30, had my first contraction at 4.30 and Alice was born at 8.25!! Very intense and painful, but at least it was over quickly!

We moved house 2 weeks after dd was born. I had to pack the house myself as dp was saving his holiday as his dad came over from Australia a week later! It was awful! I was still trying to get used to bfing, I was still sore and felt I had to keep everything tidy at the same time. He was over for 2 weeks and although it was lovely to see him, it was good to have my house back! Yes in-laws should be banned!

Oh and my boiler has just died ! I'm bloody freezing and can't put the heating on! Luckily we have one of those service plans, I'm just waiting for the sodding engineer to phone me back. I've been waiting for 3 hours!

foxybrown · 19/03/2007 12:00

oh marylou, I know, I know. You must surely be deserving of some nice wedges? Shoes, not potato I mean

Tortington · 19/03/2007 12:00

haven;t read your thread at all - would just like to say how fab i think your title is. i read it with a fake italian accent every time i see it.

hollyandalice · 19/03/2007 12:06

BTW does anyone have a juicer? There is a half price one on Amazon atm and I have a voucher to use. Will I actually use it?

sputnik · 19/03/2007 12:17

Marylou, feeling the same about the mat clothes, and umming and aahing over whether to get some more summery stuff. Thing is, sometimes we get heatwaves in June here and other times, like last year, it was quite cool til mid-june. And what if I give birth a bit early....
I've compromised by finding some non mat clothes that should actually fit, with some styles around at the moment it is actually possible, and you'll be able to wear it afterwards too.

foxybrown · 19/03/2007 12:18

of course! its in the cupboard with the george forman grill, sandwich toaster, food mixer, blender...

hollyandalice · 19/03/2007 12:22

That's what I thought foxy!! I do use my George Foreman (as I am a veggie I put all dp's meat in there so it doesn't contaminate my nice food!) and occasionally the blender, but all the other kitchen appliances seem to be gathering dust (we don't have enough cupboards to store them, hence the need for a new kitchen!!)! It would be nice to have fresh juice though!
