#TTC1 - Second Wave grads thread the Second!

kavanaughkj · 30/03/2017 16:06

Hello all! Welcome to the second thread for the 'new wave' of grads from #TTC1 - the first wave ladies seem to have decamped en masse to Facebook now (I heard weaning mentioned last time I ventured onto it) so this is now officially the place to be!

We're pretty spread out over the pregnancy journey so far with some newbies and some about to pop Grin I'll try to maintain a list so if anybody wants to leave details of due dates and whether you're Team Blue, Pink or Vanilla (I think we're pretty heavily skewed towards Pink at the moment) then leave your details and I'll amalgamate them!

As Moose mentioned in our last thread, please do feel free to join in if this is your first time walking this weird and wonderful path - there is no such thing as TMI and we're all learning off each other!

Thanks everyone-
Madrid is lovely and weather is perfect although I'm realising how easily I get tired now! Am embracing the siesta. Also miss having a few beers!

Welcome glitter and carley

music we did look at the pebble plus and it is better - has better shock absorbing but the discount at mothercare made it almost half the price for the pebble. Obviously you can't put a price on safety but I also bought if the plus wasn't out yet I'd be happy with the pebble. Our friends gave us their cabriofix which we know is fine and hasn't been in an accident but it is a few years old and has been on a few plane journeys so a brand new pebble seemed to be the right thing to do as it will be much safer than a seat that has had 2 years use. Hope that helps!

soda great to hear induction was ok. I'll def be induced on or before due date so have been hoping to hear positive experiences!

marmitecheesetoast · 16/04/2017 14:42

Thanks Soda and Stardrey I am reading your posts and reminding myself I must be flexible and open as who knows what will happen in labour and you can't control it, just got to go with the flow on the day I guess!

Still no sign of anything happening. Feeling a bit calmer today, was a bit of a crazy hormonal emotional wreck yesterday all of a sudden, spent half the day crying about really random things (including DH having trimmed his beard too short Hmm) which isn't like me at all!
I was relatively ok on Friday then batshit crazy yesterday. Think it's something to do with psychologically going past the 'due date'. Started today off with a bath and listened to my hypnobirthing track which calmed me down a bit.

Weather is miserable here, hope other people are having better weather and if not hope everyone is having a lovely Easter!

Glad you're having a good time Seahawk (jealous!) maybe you could find an alco-free beer to drink instead? I drank loads of alco-free beer on our 'babymoon' in Gran Canaria in December and it was nice to have something cold and refreshing in the sun other than sparkling water or diet coke!

LovelyFishy · 16/04/2017 19:22

I can't believe how many people are in holiday, I'm totally jealous! Have a lovely time Kav, FxSkip and Seahawk.

Welcome Carley and Glittery!

Starkey you totally should stay!

Marmite exciting that it is now officially time, even if baby doesn't realise yet! That cake looked fab.

Soda hello again!

Music I have 2 cats, 1 of them is a hunter but tends to go in bursts. About 6/7 mice and in the last 24 hours. Confused

Dixie congratulations on a lovely looking scan! Grin

My sister-in-law just invited me on a girls night out 2 weeks after baby's due date. 😂

Sodasoda · 17/04/2017 00:03

Hiiiii fishy! Glad all is going well for you.

Yes, doing BLW Audrey. Not a lot seems to actually go in her, most of it on the floor, but never mind! Are you guys communicating all on FB? Maybe I should join? I do miss you guys.

MrsG280516 · 17/04/2017 08:28

Great scan Dixie! Well done on sticking to team vanilla, I'm far too impatient for that!

Reached 24 weeks yesterday so we're officially viable! Hope everyone has had a lovely Easter Smile

Seahawk80 · 17/04/2017 11:06

I don't think they have alcohol free beer in Spain marmite! I drank so much Agua con gas!
Just on our way back and we were meant to be in the rubbish Europe business class with BA (we always do this short haul as we use our air miles from our credit card - we're not loaded!) and they have changed to a massive plane and we're in first class! A lovely end to our last hurrah as a twosome Smile

IrregularCommentary · 17/04/2017 11:18

You guys just popped up so thought I'd say hey waves

Marmite I can't believe you're due already - so exciting! Echoing Soda and Audrey, be prepared to go with the flow. I wanted a natural water birth, but undiagnosed breech (and slightly premature for good measure) baby meant emcs instead. It was still fine, recovery was still alright, she's still awesome Smile

We're also at 7mo now. Weaning is the most fun and her second tooth cut through overnight so we're all go!

Soda - no pressure at all, but it'd be bloody lovely to have you back if you decided to join xx

LovelyFishy · 17/04/2017 12:11

MrsG congrats on reaching 24 weeks! Grin

Seahawk that is an amazing way to end a holiday!

Hello again Irregular! Can't believe how big all the babies from the 1st grad thread are already!

marmitecheesetoast · 17/04/2017 14:13

Congrats on reaching 24 weeks MrsG!

That sounds like the perfect end to the holiday seahawk, amazing! Our local Spanish tapas bar does an alcohol free Estrella which is pretty good!

Aww hi Irregular!! Lovely to hear from you all again! I know, can't believe where the time has gone! You guys must feel the same way, can't believe some of the babies are getting to 7months now! Maybe I'll have to come join you guys on FB once baby marmite arrives to get all your top tips! Grin

40+3 now. Felt a bit teary this morning when I woke up but we've been out for a long walk this morning, via a pitstop for brunch then a second later pitstop for decaf coffee and a brownie Grin and feeling a bit better for it. It was so grim yesterday we didn't really leave the house and think I got a bit cabin fevery. Have done 11000 steps on my Fitbit already today! I don't know if that will encourage baby at all but I am exhausted now - time for a nap I reckon!

Seahawk80 · 17/04/2017 14:27

I'll look out for that marmite I love Estrella beer! I asked a couple of times about alcohol free beer but just got blank looks! Hope something happens for you soon! I always think that if I have the baby on a Sunday or bank holiday there will be less staff on (which is probably stupid) so maybe your baby is just waiting til after the bank hol!

AudreyBradshaw · 17/04/2017 20:01

I went into labour in a Sunday morning seahawk and we were looked after beautifully, little bugger didn't arrive till Monday afternoon like, and even then it was EMCS but absolutely agree with irregular recovery was easy (discharged after 24 hours, went shopping after 4 days and to an afternoon tea at 5 days. ) I did about 14 hours in the birth pool too. (I basically tried every version of childbirth lol)

soda we would absolutely love you to come over, no pressure though. We have a completely locked down, secure group with just us guys. I literally joined fb for it, I only have you guys on there! And marmite you are so more than welcome! I've got my fingers crossed for you, going overdue is so annoying!

AudreyBradshaw · 17/04/2017 20:05

We just went to get a high chair today! he's only 20 weeks but I'm sooo looking forward to BLW! I keep thinking L is teething because of the dribbles/pink cheeks but then it stops!

marmitecheesetoast · 17/04/2017 23:12

High chair shopping is exciting!

I think I've started to lose some of my mucus plus tonight! Though not 100% sure Hmm and know that it doesn't necessarily mean anything as it can regenerate... but it's nice to know my body seems to be doing something at least! In other news DH is full of the lurgy and I'm terrified of catching it just before going into labour Confused

Musicgrrl · 18/04/2017 07:52

marmite that's so exciting re your mucus plug! Must feel like it's the start of a chain of events. I can completely understand being teary and in limbo. You can't plan anything around your due date really and then so often nothing happens, especially on the day itself! Glad you have been encouraging baby with cakes and walking. We have had a relatively sedentary weekend so you have put me to shame!

Audrey 14 hours in the birth pool sounds brutal! I can't deal with being in water for that long - I hate the feeling of being all pruney! Haha. Do you know how long people generally stay in hospital after they give birth? I am totally clueless. I'm guessing your DH can't stay with you the whole time so do they just go home or what?! Can't get my head around it.

Seahawk I know what you mean about bank holidays. I can imagine myself going overdue and ending up going in on the August bank holiday for an induction! Hoping not though.., Yay to your flight upgrade! It sounds like you had a lovely break. I am really looking forward to our break to the Lake District in May.

MrsG how exciting that you're at 24 weeks. I'm just under 1 week behind you and am really looking forward to reaching yay milestone. Then even more excited to agree my mat leave formally at 25 weeks!

Dixie lovely scan pic and well done for staying team vanilla!

Thank you everyone for sharing your cat stories and thoughts! They made me feel a lot better.

Audrey I love the idea that my cat thinks I am incompetent and is trying to help me fatten up. I am sticking with that! She is such a sweetheart and I know it is completely natural behaviour for a cat so I couldn't stay annoyed for long.

Glittery I had kind of wondered what the likelihood was of getting cat poo on your hands from stroking your cat. They spend so much time cleaning themselves that it seems quite unlikely to me! Loved your comment about stroking the cat and then eating a sandwich Grin will you get the test to see if you have had it before? I think I read that 1/3 of the population have had it before and given you work with animals I guess is more likely than not?! Would be good to get reassurance though I guess.

Fishy your cat sounds like a crazy gifted hunter!! It made me feel quite grateful for the once a fortnight gifts from mine! Hope your DH is around to help clear up! Also, does your sister in law really think you will be able to go on that night out or does she just not want you to feel left out?!

Seahawk thanks for your summary of the car seat situ. I agree that I would be totally fine with the pebble if the pebble plus didn't exist! My DH is quite a worrier (in very different ways from me) so I think it's quite likely we'll end up with the pebble plus. That is when we get around to buying anything baby related at all... We are still frantically decorating the house and don't really have the space to start acquiring things while its in the state it is atm.

Sorry to anyone I've missed. Has been a busy weekend seeing family and doing DIY and I am now exhausted! Really need to psych myself up for a productive few days at work (finding that hard) and then I'm off for a hen party (the first one I've been organising but it doesn't involve clubbing) on Friday afternoon. Thinking that at some point I will need to find some time to myself to relax. Gutted that yoga was cancelled this week due to the bank holiday.

Starmist · 18/04/2017 08:13

So sorry I've been absent for a while. Work has been very busy & stressful & I've been feeling really tired. Feel much better after a lovely relaxing Easter weekend. I'm off work today too & it's our 20 week scan later eeeek, hoping baby will be in a good position so we can find out if we're team blue or pink!

Marmite can't believe something could be happening! Thinking of you lovely xx

Music my friend bless her has taken over the organising for the baby shower so I've got strict instructions to leave it to her. I know she's hoping she can negotiate the cost down a lot & then split between everyone it shouldn't be too much extra.
I can see how it's upsetting for people to comment your bump is too small as well, I hadn't thought about it until you said. Everyone is so different in their sizes people really can't make comparisons. As long as you & baby are happy & healthy the size of your bump shouldn't matter to anyone.

FXSkip congrats on being team pink! Hope you're having a lovely holiday.

Moose glad to hear you took the day off work, hope you're fully recovered now.

Congratulations & welcome Carley! How are you feeling?

Audrey thanks so much for your tips & blog link.

Sorry I haven't got time to mention everyone, have had to have a rushed catch up. Hope everyone is well xx

marmitecheesetoast · 18/04/2017 08:20

Awh thanks Music yes that's exactly it, life in limbo!

No sign of anything further overnight. Was sadly excited to check for anymore on my gazillion trips for a wee overnight but nothing - constant knicker checking its like TTC all over again!

I really missed my pregnancy yoga class last night too Music. Hope you can manage to find some down time for yourself this week before the hen do.

Have just made DHs lunch and waved him off to work... feel a bit meh now, did not expect him to be going back into work today, which was silly really! And I have made no plans now for this week... At least it's sunny today, although think I over did it on my mammoth walk yesterday, have got a rather sore hip and foot Confused

Hope everyone has an ok day back in work today after the long weekend, at least it's a short week!

marmitecheesetoast · 18/04/2017 08:22

XP starmist glad you had a nice relaxing long weekend and v exciting for your 20 week scan!

Mooseville · 18/04/2017 10:36

Just a quick check in, bit hi to all the first wave grads! So pleased to hear it's all going well!

Come on baby marmite, let's have an appearance soon!!!! Grin

Starmist · 18/04/2017 12:29

Well we had the scan. The back of the neck is measuring 8.0 when it should be 5.9 or less. We got taken into a room & told by a specialist that it means baby could have Down syndrome & we had all the options explained to us about further tests etc. We both just feel so numb & like this isn't happening. Have to go for another scan either later this week or Monday at the latest. I don't want to spend the next 19 weeks worrying about if baby's ok but equally these tests are invasive & I don't want to put baby at risk. I don't know what to do Sad

Carley27 · 18/04/2017 12:58

I'm away on holiday just now so haven't been able to post much, but just wanted to check in to say I'm thinking of you star 💐

Mrsbluebell17 · 18/04/2017 13:24

So sorry to hear of this difficulty star. Take good care of yourself. Flowers

Mooseville · 18/04/2017 13:36

Oh Star So sorry to hear this. It's so scary not knowing.
We had similar with a high combined screening for DS however the measurement wasn't that high. We opted for the Harmony/Iona private test which was £300 but is very reliable and non invasive. We decided to let the results from that decide whether we had the invasive tests. Luckily they came back as 1:1000000 so we didn't have to make any further decisions but I did a lot of reading that week on different things. The amnio test actually isn't as high risk as it used to be with medical progression. I also read lots of positive stories about high nuchal measurements and healthy babies. Did they look for any of the soft markers on the scan? I think there's things like the nasal bone development that they can look at for further indication of DS.
I remember that awful feeling so well, it's awful not knowing but thinking the worst. I really hope everything works out for you all. We're all here to help you through whatever happens xxx

Starmist · 18/04/2017 13:54

No they didn't mention soft markers... the second scan will be carried out by a specialist so I will ask about that, thank you xxx

Starmist · 18/04/2017 13:55

Team 💙 by the way. Baby says hello ☺️

#TTC1 - Second Wave grads thread the Second!
Musicgrrl · 18/04/2017 14:08

starmist I'm so sorry that you're having to go through this. I've replied to you on the FB group too. While you're waiting for your next scan I would focus on your extremely low risk blood results (for comparison mine were 1 in 15,000 when combined with a good NT measurement so 1 in 98,000 for just blood work is great!). If it were me I would also be working through the various outcomes with my DH and thinking about what action we would take in each situation, for example my DH and I decided that if we found out that our baby was at high risk of DS we wouldn't do anything differently so there would be no point in us doing further (invasive) testing. That stuff is so personal though so worth giving it a bit of thought. Your scan pic is beautiful and congratulations on being our first official team blue! Smile
