#TTC1 - Second Wave grads thread the Second!

Hello all! Welcome to the second thread for the 'new wave' of grads from #TTC1 - the first wave ladies seem to have decamped en masse to Facebook now (I heard weaning mentioned last time I ventured onto it) so this is now officially the place to be!

We're pretty spread out over the pregnancy journey so far with some newbies and some about to pop Grin I'll try to maintain a list so if anybody wants to leave details of due dates and whether you're Team Blue, Pink or Vanilla (I think we're pretty heavily skewed towards Pink at the moment) then leave your details and I'll amalgamate them!

As Moose mentioned in our last thread, please do feel free to join in if this is your first time walking this weird and wonderful path - there is no such thing as TMI and we're all learning off each other!

Yay FXskip another girl!! Hope you have a great break in the sun. Remember the suncream as apparently we're more sensitive to it while we're pregnant! (Probably teaching grandma to suck eggs with that comment but wanted to check!)

Mooseville · 13/04/2017 11:29

Hello all!! Lovely to hear from you stardrey So pleased all is going well!

Eeeek marmite the time is almost here! Cannot wait to hear your news!

I've took the day off work today as been struck down with an awful cold. I'm not too ill but thought what's the point in struggling in to work when I could lie on the sofa!
Had 32 week midwife appt yesterday and luckily baby has moved from the 5th percentile to the 30th so I feel a bit happier. She's not concerned and hasn't referred us for a scan or anything....

Mrsbluebell17 · 13/04/2017 12:51

Audrey id really like to read your blog but it says I have to log in. When I click register it asks me to set up a blog or store etc. Do you know if there is a way around this? Sorry to be a technophobe!

I think this is where the link is meant to take you :) no login required to read wordpress blogs, I regularly post on mine and plenty of people have read it without a login.

MrsG280516 · 13/04/2017 13:08

And lovely to hear there's another team pink FXSkip! Congratulations!

AudreyBradshaw · 13/04/2017 13:32

Thanks mrsG L was waking up as I posted and I think I sent the link which was my draft link thingy! You're a star for nudging everyone in the right direction! 🌞

Congratulations on a lovely little girl skip 🌹💜💖💕👍

Mrsbluebell17 · 13/04/2017 14:23

Thanks for the link. I'll take a read Smile

WantingBaby1 · 13/04/2017 14:27

Congrats on the girl skip!

Sorry to hear you're feeling poorly moose, totally sucks when you can't do much about it either. I wouldn't feel bad at all about taking the day off, we need to be kind to our bodies atm.

Had our "growth scan" today at 23+1. Turns out we only needed it as we'd moved trusts and they like to do 2. Baby girl measuring in at distinctively average, which for once in her life is no bad thing! 1lb 5oz today :) very reassuring. Can't believe no more scans now though, seems a long time to wait!

Mrsbluebell17 · 14/04/2017 07:53

Woke up thinking of Marmite. Hoping for some lovely news soon!

Seahawk80 · 14/04/2017 08:20

Congrats skip! Another girl yay!

Just popping in to say if anyone needs to get a car seat mothercare have the red maxi cosi pebble for £115 which is £50 off Smile

Seahawk80 · 14/04/2017 08:22

Oh and happy Easter everyone 🐣
We're off to Madrid - can't wait for some sun!

Carley27 · 14/04/2017 13:51

Another one putting one foot on board, bfp last Sunday, on lmp I'm 4 weeks today.

AudreyBradshaw · 14/04/2017 16:42

Happy due date marmite hope all is well and you're having a lovely day, or a baby!

Welcome carley and glittery and congratulations!

Guys, tell me to bugger off if I'm getting on anyone's nerves by hanging around. Or if anyone is an instagrammer and wants to be pals on there? Most of the 1st wave grads are about on there!

marmitecheesetoast · 14/04/2017 19:00

Thanks for the thoughts guys, still here though!! Official due date is today Hmm trying not to get too fixated on it though, think they should really give you a two week window instead of a set date!!

Hope you have an amazing relaxing holiday Kav you deserve it!! And seahawk too!

Hope you're having a gorgeous time in the sun too Skip! Congrats on your girl!! I also had a low lying anterior placenta and I felt loads of movement! Placenta has moved out the way by 35 weeks too for hopefully normal birth.

Me and DH read your blog post in bed last night Stardrey , loved it, so useful! Have added some bits to my list! It's lovely having you here, not sticking your nose in at all! I don't have IG but beginning to think I should set up an account (if for nothing else other than to stop bombarding my Facebook friends with quite so many food pictures!! Grin)

Hope you're feeling better Moose nothing worse than being ill when pregnant and can't take any of the decent drugs!! Good news that bump measurement has gone up too. They would refer you for a scan if they were concerned at all. Hard not to worry though I know!

Welcome carley and glittery!

I had a sweep at midwife appointment yesterday (fun!) she said cervix was soft and 1cm dilated but still mid-posterior and still needs to shorten a bit! She also said there was really good engagement with baby's head. Went for a long walk and a curry after on MWs instructions Grin had some pretty intense back ache after and a few period pain type twinges and some brown spotting but all seems to have stopped again now. Have been for a reflexology session this afternoon to stimulate the accupressure points that can bring on labour, and now in the bath with a few drops of Jasmine essential oil which can also supposedly bring on labour, sipping on an iced raspberry leaf tea! Grin

I just really want to avoid an induction Confused plus my carpal tunnel is getting beyond a joke, I'm a total liability!!! DH has all but banned me from the kitchen!

marmitecheesetoast · 14/04/2017 19:01

Baby might not want birthday cake today after all, but I can still eat due date cake!!

Sodasoda · 14/04/2017 19:27

Hello! I found you marmite! I can't believe you're so close - I remember you getting your BFP! Good luck! FWIW - I was induced and it was absolutely fine. Epidural was fantastic Wink I definitely second Audrey's advice on the tuppence and crumble blanket - so much easier than a snowsuit. A also absolutely loved her playmat with lights over it - it kept her entertained for ages when she was smaller. Now she's all about the jumperoo.....

And Audrey! Hi there! How is L? How are all the other grads? A is 7 months old now and doing amazing. Im completely besotted and I think I love her even more now she's just started sleeping through the night Grin We're doing weaning at the moment which is lots of fun. Please send my love to everyone.

Sorry for butting in! Lots of good wishes for everyone's pregnancy journeys.

Musicgrrl · 14/04/2017 20:01

Wow marmite you sound so on top of this! I hope I'm like you by my due date Smile So excited for you. I agree that the idea of a due day is a bit silly though - how many babies arrive on their due date?! Was the spotting and cramps/aches from the sweep? Was it painful? My friend is going in for an induction tomorrow because her blood pressure is going up. Obviously the right thing to do but doesn't sound too fun. FX all the things you are doing get baby moving soon!

Audrey it's lovely having you around and I am loving your tips! I went out and got two anti spill nice hot drink holders for my friends about to give birth and I'm going to put a little outfit in each one and post them once the babies have arrived! I think it's a great idea - I hadn't even thought about worrying about spelling hot drinks on baby!

Hey Carley and glittery! Lovely to have you here. We have all been there with those first few weeks after a BFP so please ask away if you have any questions. Someone here is bound to have been through the same thing at some point!

Seahawk have a fab time in Spain! Thanks for the post about the pebble. I think we are going to get one but we can't decide between the pebble and the pebble plus atm. Glad your growth scan was all good. It's so annoying when you find out late that you were supposed to be doing/taking something isn't it! I had that with a higher dose of folic acid. Found out at week 11 Confused

Wanting glad you now know why you had an extra scan scheduled and that's great that all was well!

Moose hope you are feeling a bit better now. I have been there with feeling a bit rough and wanting to take a day off but because I can wfh I have always tended to just do that instead which is definitely not the same!

kav thanks for redoing the list! Have a great time in Portugal. We are also down in Cornwall in the summer for a wedding. Looking forward to it!

I am really annoyed at my cat this evening. She brought in a live bird earlier (bad enough as I am TERRIBLE at dealing with stuff like that). DH took it out and checked it to see if it was too injured and needed to be put out of its misery. Decided it was okay, kept cat in for a while. Finally let cat back out and all was well but she has just brought the thing back in, dead this time. Every time she does it I freak out completely about germs. She seems to have really ramped up her hunting in the last few months which is not great timing for my pregnancy! Hoping baby is safe inside my tummy! We are pretty rigorous with the disinfectant each time Confused

marmitecheesetoast · 14/04/2017 21:06

Awh hi Soda lovely to hear from you!!! I know, I really can't get my head round where the time has gone!?! It's definitely feeling very surreal!
Good to know your induction wasn't as awful as some of the stories people tell. And at the end of the day I know it's all worth it in the end, you can't control these things, but hard not to get fixated on the type of birth you want I guess! I can't believe little A is 7 months old now! Weaning and jumperoo sounds like great fun!

It's that time of year isn't it Music. We've had a couple of mice brought in by ours recently. I think as long as you don't handle it and your DH clears up there's nothing to worry about. It's cat poo you need to be particularly careful with, if your cat uses a litter tray make sure your OH deals with it! (One of the perks of pregnancy!!)

Sodasoda · 14/04/2017 22:06

I really wanted as natural a birth as possible marmite but my waters broke and I had no contractions for 24 hours so they needed to induce me because of infection risk. I remember having a little cry as I couldn't go in the birthing pool as they needed to monitor baby's heart rate but none of it mattered in the end. Induction is supposed to be more painful than normal labour as more intense so they advised I had an epidural. I had one at the same time as they put the induction drip in and honestly really felt no pain at all, was a very positive experience. Will keep checking back to hear your news Smile

Dixiechick1991 · 14/04/2017 22:46

Hello everyone just stopping by. 19+5 today and got the worst trapped wind ever. My ooor husband
Had the anomaly scan yesterday and this baby just does not like being scanned they're just like me "leave me alone I just want to sleep" even covering its eyes up and Turing away.
We were really good and didn't find out what baby is. Everyone I know says boy. Eek only 20 weeks to find out!

#TTC1 - Second Wave grads thread the Second!
AudreyBradshaw · 14/04/2017 23:10

Definitely definitely agree with soda on the epidural. I did 26 hours of back to back labour before getting one installed, and the relief was tangible. Whilst gas and air is awesome, labour pain was, obviously painful, but handleable (is that a word?) It was the exhaustion that got me. I had 3 minute apart contractions from the very first one. No build up at all. If you start getting tired, take the drugs, it's so worth it.

Hiiiiii soda we miss you! L is amazing, the absolute love of my life! Starting to get his little personality now too, he is going to be a cheeky little handful I reckon, definitely likes his own way! He's 4.5 months and we're just about to start thinking about weaning too. The fun! Are you doing BLW? Glad A is behaving with sleep, L has, so far, missed that memo. But we're in the middle of 4 month sleep regression I think, I've given up in the cot and have been bed sharing. Also found out the reason for his poor weight gain, he was tongue tied which wasn't diagnosed till a fortnight ago, had it cut and life is different again! I will tell everyone hi for you. I'm so glad you're on here, I didn't want to lose touch!

music it's possible your kitty is aware you're pregnant and is bringing you gifts to fatten you up because she thinks you're a rubbish hunter. But I completely sympathise, our girl used to bring all sorts in. Hightlight was a live bat.

Beautiful scan dixie another vote for boy!

marmite I was worried about being induced and was 5 days overdue. But honestly, your body will do what it wants come the time, go with the flow, be vocal and have someone to advocate your preferences, but don't get too hung up on the ideal birth. I'd still be in labour now if I'd insisted on staying non-medicated lol. You will be awesome and wonderful whatever happens. Thinking of you!

Carley27 · 15/04/2017 08:03

Thanks for the welcomes ☺️

Glittery - good to have someone in the same boat, going to be a busy Christmas this year 😁

Think you definitely deserved that cake marmite, hope the little one makes an appearance soon!

Music It's horrible when cats bring 'presents' home, worse when they're still alive 😮

Lovely scan pic Dixie!

glitteryvibes · 15/04/2017 12:59

Don't worry too much about cats presents. As long as you wash your hands well after then there isn't really any risk.

I work everyday with animals and the main risk with cats is that they can be carriers of toxoplasma which is spread through their faeces. In some cases their may be some on there coats due to grooming but the general advice is that standard hygiene is fine! Don't go cat stroking and then eating a sandwich and all will be fine! Also toxoplasma is only a concern if you get it for the first time during pregnancy, a lot of people are actually already seropositive for it which means it won't cause harm during pregnancy. Because of my job apparently the doctors should be ok to test me for it and as long as it comes back positive I can worry less for the next 9 months!

carley what's your estimated dd based on lmp? So many winter birthdays in my family already that I'll be adding too!

marmite good luck! Hoping your little one makes an appearance soon!
