#TTC1 - Second Wave grads thread the Second!

kavanaughkj · 30/03/2017 16:06

Hello all! Welcome to the second thread for the 'new wave' of grads from #TTC1 - the first wave ladies seem to have decamped en masse to Facebook now (I heard weaning mentioned last time I ventured onto it) so this is now officially the place to be!

We're pretty spread out over the pregnancy journey so far with some newbies and some about to pop Grin I'll try to maintain a list so if anybody wants to leave details of due dates and whether you're Team Blue, Pink or Vanilla (I think we're pretty heavily skewed towards Pink at the moment) then leave your details and I'll amalgamate them!

As Moose mentioned in our last thread, please do feel free to join in if this is your first time walking this weird and wonderful path - there is no such thing as TMI and we're all learning off each other!

Thanks everyone! We are so in love. And you know what, even though the whole birth was was awful we've already forgotten it! Am recovering really well so should be home tonight! Good luck to everyone with scans coming up!

Musicgrrl · 06/07/2017 14:41

Congratulations seahawk - he is an absolute beauty! Also love the name 😍

Your induction (and most that I hear about!) sounded horrid. Sorry that you had to go through all that! I guess there was no way to know at the time that baby was back to back or that him not being low would continue through labour. I would have done exactly what you did if I was in your position. I'm curious - did finding out the gender motivate you through contractions? Hope you can rest up well and that you have a quick recovery.

miranda good luck for your scan later! Are you finding out the gender or to you already know? I'm losing track!

kav and mrs - you're up next! I'm glad you're there to buffer me from being next up!

Musicgrrl · 06/07/2017 14:41

Crossed posts seahawk! Glad to hear it is easily forgotten Smile

MissyJones80s · 06/07/2017 15:00

Yay congratulations seahawk definitely worth all the hard work during labour !!! Gorgeous baby and such a lovely name choice x

glitteryvibes · 06/07/2017 16:10

Congrats seahawk glad you should be getting home soon as well. Lovely name and beautiful little boy! Hope you recover quickly.

Miranda234 · 06/07/2017 18:58

Wow great you're going home so soon seahawk 😊

We have just had our 20 week scan, everything is good and we've found out we're having a girl 💖 so excited now 😊

Carley27 · 06/07/2017 19:06

Oh Seahawk he is just adorable 😍 and I LOVE the name Hector. Congratulations and enjoy your newborn snuggles.

Congratulations Miranda 🎀 how exciting! We are hopefully finding out tomorrow, have an inkling it's a boy!

Mrsbluebell17 · 06/07/2017 19:30

Congrats Miranda! Exciting times. Ours is Saturday. So excited!!

MissyJones80s · 06/07/2017 20:30

Congratulations on your news miranda

FXSkip · 06/07/2017 21:07

Exciting miranda! And fx for you for Saturday bluebell! seahawk congratulations on your beautiful wee Hector - so lovely - and glad to hear that your are both doing so well and have 'forgotten' the trauma of birth.
We started going through a checklist to see if we've got the right sort of things, put the crib up and I put in for my mat leave - hoping to start in 5 weeks. Not panicking in the slightest.

kavanaughkj · 07/07/2017 00:10

Hope it went well at the midwife for you today Wanting - unfortunately not so much for me. I've been told today the midwife led unit in my home town I'd planned on giving birth at is now a no-no for me because my blood pressure is too high, and the baby is possibly still breech, despite thinking it had turned. I have to go to a much bigger hospital 10 miles away with way more competition for a birthing pool (if I'm even allowed to get in one) ... I just am hoping not to have a caesarian if at all possible. Am getting scanned next week to determine which way up the baby is facing, and if it's still breech they may attempt to manually move it to the right position. I just feel so full of baby now I'm not sure how it will be possible to move if it's the wrong way up!

Glad to hear you and little Hector are doing well Seahawk. :)

Music, I think Wanting is a buffer for you too ;)

Thanks everyone 😊

Good luck for your scans carley and bluebell. I had an inkling she was a girl so you may be right carley! 😊

Sorry to hear you're having to move to a bigger hospital kav and hope baby is the right way up.

MrsG280516 · 07/07/2017 08:04

Congratulations seahawk!! What a beautiful boy, hope your recovery is as quick as possible and you're home soon!

Eeek yep it's us next Kav, sorry to hear you're having to forgo the birth centre. We had a tour of our labour wards at the hospital last night and I was surprised that there was a minimal difference between the rooms in the MLU and the central delivery suite (so low vs high dependency) but I think the main difference if you're high dependency is that you can't have a water birth. Our low dependency unit only has 2 inflatable birthing pools but I'm hoping to be lucky enough to bag one if I go there.

mayago · 07/07/2017 16:56

Ugh, sorry I'm never great with finding time for replying.

Congratulations Seahawk! Enjoy the newborn snuggles. You'll wake up in the blink of an eye and he'll be six months old Confused

MissyJones80s The 4 hours a week is completely flexible. I was working when I did this course and crammed it all into a couple of days. There's a lot of watching videos and reading documents; no writing required, just quizzes.

Motherhood is just grand FXSkip and kavanaughkj I'm already back to work though, which I wouldn't recommend if you don't have to do it!!

FXSkip · 07/07/2017 22:17

I'm going to see my midwife led unit next week on my birthday - woo!! How times have changed...
mayo I can't believe you're back at work already! Is it flexible hours at least? I'm so incredibly grateful that I'm able to take 14months, DH is taking the first two months off too so he'll be around loads, and we're discussing whether he'll continue to work once I go back, or if we both do part time. Although I'm keen to put LO into a nursery for the social aspect I'm also keen for us to be around as much as possible. It's hard to know what's best though. Have the worst heartburn tonight, serves me right for eating almost half of an entire pizza ☹️ who's got exciting weekend plans?

Scandalicity · 08/07/2017 10:04

Sorry for the late reply - have been away all week with poor internet! Thank you all for the welcomes? Still doesn't feel quite real!

Congratulations to Seahawk on the birth of your little boy Grin

Mrsbluebell17 · 08/07/2017 20:43

Another girl on board here! Grin

Starmist · 08/07/2017 21:02

Congratulations Seahawk hope you & your gorgeous little boy are doing well xx

Welcome Scandal!

Hope everyone is having a nice weekend. I'm 32 weeks now. It's scary how fast the time has gone. I really need to get packing my hospital bag eek.

MissyJones80s · 08/07/2017 22:58

bluebell yay!!! Lovely news. Still not sure if I want to find out...I love surprises and think it would be lovely for DH to be the one to tell me at birth BUT I'm also mega organised so have the urge to know haha

Miranda234 · 09/07/2017 08:29

Aw congratulations bluebell 😊

Carley27 · 09/07/2017 09:06

Another team pink member here ☺️🎀 can't quite believe I'm going to have a daughter!

Starmist · 09/07/2017 10:41

Wow so many little girls on the thread 💗 Congrats everyone

Seahawk80 · 09/07/2017 10:42

Congrats on the girls bluebell and carley - so many girls on here! I think starmist and I are the only teams blues! Sorry if I missed anyone.

carley - no one seems to know much about Papp a - it's like they test for it but don't know what to do when it's low! No one told me to take aspirin either and I saw a consultant in the end after pushing for an appointment. She said there is some evidence that if it's taken from 12 weeks it can bring down the risk of pre eclampsia but it's not been proved so don't worry about that. The main 2 risks are higher risk of pre eclampsia and that the placenta may not do a good job towards the end. Are you having extra growth scans? I had 3 extra and all were fine, they still recommended induction on due date but if I'd wanted to wait they would have let me. I had quite bad anxiety about stillbirth so just went with it. If you're not having growth scans or of your midwife can't answer your questions ask for a consultant appointment. I had to wait 5 weeks for mine but it's only an issue at the end anyway. Feel free to ask if you have any questions.
music finding out the gender motivated me so much through the contractions- I knew it would which is why I managed to not find out beforehand!

Scandalicity · 09/07/2017 11:45

Congrats to bluebell & carley on team pink! 🎀

Missy I feel the same as you, I like to be mega organised, but then fairly certain I want the surprise at the end! Not sure DH is too bothered so need to have a think!

Carley27 · 10/07/2017 21:24

Thanks Seahawk, feeling a bit better about it now, was a bit stunned at the time because I assumed everything was ok since they hadn't been in touch. They are arranging 3 extra growth scans, nothing was mentioned with regards to induction but I think I would go for it too if they recommend it.

Hope you and Hector are both well, look forward to hearing how you're both getting on 🙂
