#TTC1 - Second Wave grads thread the Second!

Hello all! Welcome to the second thread for the 'new wave' of grads from #TTC1 - the first wave ladies seem to have decamped en masse to Facebook now (I heard weaning mentioned last time I ventured onto it) so this is now officially the place to be!

We're pretty spread out over the pregnancy journey so far with some newbies and some about to pop Grin I'll try to maintain a list so if anybody wants to leave details of due dates and whether you're Team Blue, Pink or Vanilla (I think we're pretty heavily skewed towards Pink at the moment) then leave your details and I'll amalgamate them!

As Moose mentioned in our last thread, please do feel free to join in if this is your first time walking this weird and wonderful path - there is no such thing as TMI and we're all learning off each other!

That's really good advice Wanting and MrsG. Thank you.

FXSkip · 04/04/2017 15:44

Agree with all the advice given. For the first 8 weeks I felt like AF was about to show up - cramps, heavy feeling, spotty - the works. I continued to get twinges and still do at 19weeks along with baby movements, so it's all 'normal'. Just try to make positive statements your habit - it will help all the way through the pregnancy: e.g instead of 'oh there's a twinge I must be having mc' try to think 'there's little peppercorn getting comfy' etc. It gets better, I promise.

Seahawk80 · 04/04/2017 15:49

That is good advice skip I had cramps and twinges all through the early weeks along with bleeding from 4-10 weeks. Thinking positive is the way forward!

Poppet8583 · 04/04/2017 18:48

Hi Bluebell, I'm not too far ahead of you so I know what you mean about worrying! If it helps I've had a few twinges every now and again, just before I got my BFP and for a few days after I had what felt like "ovary pain" on my left side (that's the only way I can describe it!) There's so much information around so my midwife told me that if something just doesn't feel "right" I should call her.

I'm sure you'll feel a lot better after your booking in appointment at 8 weeks; I haven't had an early scan as I've been happy to wait but for reassurance it might be worth it as others have suggested 😊

Re coffee/tea, I think you can have one cup a day? I haven't had any but I hate coffee anyway and I've gone right off tea - I usually love it so it feels weird not to drink it! I don't miss it but it'll be strange if I end up never drinking it again as I've gone without it for so long. Decaf is a good option though and you won't notice the difference after a while.

We told the parents/siblings at 6 weeks and since then we've told 2 very close friends who we trust not to say anything but other than that we've kept it quiet x

Mrsbluebell17 · 04/04/2017 21:53

Thanks everyone for your lovely advice. You've made me feel so much better. Fingers crossed it's a sticky little button Smile

LovelyFishy · 05/04/2017 08:02

Welcome and congratulations Bluebell! Exactly the same scenario for me as everyone else had said in the early days, lots of odd random twinges! I tried to stick to 1 tea a day (I can't stick decaf tea!) then 1 or 2 decaf coffees if I needed them.

Has anyone here had Braxton Hicks contractions yet? What do they feel like?

Mooseville · 05/04/2017 09:07

Hi fishy I've got exactly the same question! Had some weird stabbing pains across my bump in B&Q of all places yesterday, they've all stopped and baby is moving so I'm thinking it's ok, but were they Brixton Hicks? Although I thought they weren't meant to hurt? From my reading it says it's regular tightenings like an electric band across the bump??

LovelyFishy · 05/04/2017 09:23

Mine were like low down period type pains, utterly weird. Kept me awake half the night! They didn't hurt but they did make me pay attention, if that makes any sense! I've heard not being hydrated is one of the causes so I'm going to drink all the water today! I've also heard resting is good, maybe bump had had enough of B&Q yesterday?

Mooseville · 05/04/2017 11:20

Ha ha. We'd only just walked in the door! But I too am trying to keep hydrated, it all seems to have settled today and baby is having a good wriggle so I'm happy for now!

marmitecheesetoast · 05/04/2017 12:27

Welcome bluebell! Yup lots of random twinges early on for me too, almost like ovulation pain again too. I don't think I stopped checking my pants for blood every time I went to the loo til about 20 weeks!!

Moose and Fishy I'm the opposite, panicking that I've never noticed any BHs!! Making me worry that my uterus isn't 'in training' for the big event! From what the girls in my NCT class have said earlier on in pregnancy they just feel like the bump going hard/tight but as you get closer to due date they start to feel more like period pains. Don't know if that's helpful or not?!

Just back from a swim, I want to keep going right up til baby arrives but I'm starting to get worried about how embarrassing it would be if my waters went in the pool!! Despite how unlikely I know this is! Also, even a maternity swimming costume is now getting a little tight at 39 weeks!

seahawk yes I think I finished at about the right time, I finished at 37 weeks, I probably could have managed another week but didn't want to run myself totally into the ground/end up with no time to myself before baby arrived! I did use up some annual leave to do shorter weeks for the last 6 weeks or so of work too. Just having the odd day off in the week was great. I think it's very personal though, depends on your pregnancy, your body and also your job and commute. I was getting public transport which was ok, but car would have been easier. I have found that my rib pain has basically gone overnight since finishing work, I just found sitting at a desk all day so uncomfortable towards the end!

Mrsbluebell17 · 05/04/2017 16:40

Thanks for your lovely comments that have reassured me everyone. I'm off to the doctors later to confirm I'm pregnant which is scary but exciting. I have had the same twinges today so good to know it's normal. Also, keep on the pant watch too, as I'm totally paranoid it's all going to go wrong so I'm glad I'm not the only one. Hope you're all feeling good today Smile

Musicgrrl · 05/04/2017 17:08

Sorry ladies, I have many days of chat to catch up on. Will do it in bits!

Tonks yay to not much sickness so far. I didn't have much either. Sorry that you had to endure an uncomfortable night club experience at 6 weeks though - that sounds unpleasant! At least it should be abundantly obvious to everyone what my position is at 32 weeks!

Fishy that should be an interesting hen do! How are you feeling about it? I guess you're doing the planning now so that you don't have to worry about t too much when baby arrives?! Don't get me started on bridesmaid dresses. For the one when I'll be 36 weeks I told the bride to order the dress in a 16 for me to have a look at (I'm normally a 10). It arrived and she promptly threw out the receipt before I had seen it! She has since given it to me and I think she considers it to be my problem now. Tbh I don't care too much. I'll just get it fitted as much as possible and accept that I'm probably not going to look amazing! Also - think I just saw the h&m dr as you are referring to. Love that one and there's a lovely clingy black one too.

Moose I like your plan for the hen this weekend. Let us know how it goes! For ours we have a cocktail making class at the house until 9:30 and then once everyone is ready to go out I think it will be 10pm. After everyone's lovely, helpful posts, I'm pretty comfortable now that I'll stay back and call it a night then. They should all be pretty drunk by then like you said!

fxskip I love your idea of ordering them a bottle of bubbly and prepping a nice breakfast! I think I will make that my contribution in exchange for not going clubbing Smile

That's it for now, more later. I'm up to Monday!

Starmist · 05/04/2017 19:13

I felt a bit upset today. Someone at work commented that my bump was massive & she started laughing asking if I was sure I wasn't pigging out. I'm sure she'll just see it as a joke but I'm already paranoid about whether I'm the right sort of size for how many weeks along I am & it just made me feel pretty rubbish.

Mrsbluebell17 · 05/04/2017 20:20

Oh that's not nice Starmist. I hope you don't take it personally. Some people don't think before they speak so don't stress. Flowers

Starmist · 05/04/2017 20:32

Yeah I'm sure it was a joke. Probably just feeling hormonal & extra sensitive! I'm sure I'd have laughed it off if it wasn't something I was paranoid about.

LovelyFishy · 05/04/2017 21:21

Starmist sorry to hear about the rubbish comments. I have no idea why people think it's ok to start commenting on pregnant women's bodies, would they say stuff like that to someone who wasn't pregnant? Remember you are perfect as you are right now, you're body is doing amazing things creating new life!

Music my main concern is if I'm still breastfeeding, not able to express or combo-feed. I'm sure I'm overthinking things but I have no idea what I'd do then!

Marmite today was the first Braxton Hicks, I know some people get them loads from much earlier. It's another anything goes scenario I think!

Bluebell how'd the doctors go?

Moose glad baby's still merrily wriggling around, at least in all of this we know they're still having a good time!

Mrsbluebell17 · 05/04/2017 21:47

Hi fishy. Thanks for asking. Doctors was ok but a little pointless really, they just told me to fill out a form with reception and the midwife will contact me around 8/9 weeks in. I'm 4 weeks tomorrow so feeling very anxious still as know it's very early. X

LovelyFishy · 06/04/2017 06:58

I felt good week 4, I remember hiding under my duvet for most of week 5! We're all here if there's anything we can do to help with any worries, but best advice is just try to enjoy it. Smile

Seahawk80 · 06/04/2017 07:38

starmist that's so rude! I don't know why people think it's ok to comment! You wouldn't say anything to someone who wasn't pregnant. I really wouldn't worry, I've had someone tell me I'm looking small (which then makes me think there is something wrong) and then someone tell me I am getting big on the same day!

Seahawk80 · 06/04/2017 07:39

Oh and don't get me started on people who try to touch the bump Angry

Poppet8583 · 06/04/2017 14:50

Hi ladies! Hope you're all well? Just read your post about the bump comment Starmist - I think some people just don't know what to say sometimes 🙄 I'm sure you look great (and it's none of her business what size your bump is!)

Just a quick post to say my scan went well, baby was very wriggly and was jumping around all over the place! Amazing to see him/her for the first time and know everything is looking good so far.

Hope you're doing ok Bluebell; the first 12 weeks feels really long but as each week goes by you'll feel less worried and more excited 😊

Starmist · 06/04/2017 19:21

I know Seahawk bump touching feels so invasive! I've had 2 people do it to me in the past 2 days.

Ah I'm so pleased your scan went well Poppet. Our baby was really wriggly too, so wriggly they couldn't do any measurements so we had to go back. Did you get all your measurements done ok? How are you feeling? I'm feeling totally normal, the 2nd trimester is good Smile

Poppet8583 · 06/04/2017 21:11

Thank you Starmist! Yep all measurements done so I don't have to go back, he/she settled down after a while 😊

Mrsbluebell17 · 07/04/2017 03:43

So I'm wide awake at this unearthly hour. No idea why but I can't sleep Hmm. Did broken sleep affect anyone else in the early days?

Starmist · 07/04/2017 06:26

I've been struggling with sleeping all the way along. I'm so tired that I fall asleep no problem but I often wake up at around 1/2am & then I just keep tossing from one side to the other until morning. I've heard sleep disruption is fairly common, it's the hormones I think...
