#TTC1 - Second Wave grads thread the Second!

Hello all! Welcome to the second thread for the 'new wave' of grads from #TTC1 - the first wave ladies seem to have decamped en masse to Facebook now (I heard weaning mentioned last time I ventured onto it) so this is now officially the place to be!

We're pretty spread out over the pregnancy journey so far with some newbies and some about to pop Grin I'll try to maintain a list so if anybody wants to leave details of due dates and whether you're Team Blue, Pink or Vanilla (I think we're pretty heavily skewed towards Pink at the moment) then leave your details and I'll amalgamate them!

As Moose mentioned in our last thread, please do feel free to join in if this is your first time walking this weird and wonderful path - there is no such thing as TMI and we're all learning off each other!

bluebell I'm not sure yet, I have 2 weeks leave not yet booked for this year so will either take those from 38 weeks to officially start mat leave from 40 or maybe 37. But I do worry that I will have to go earlier, my job is quite physical and includes weekends and nights on call. I think it will all depend on if I get any issues with back pain/how mobile I am later on/how easy it will be to lug myself out of bed at 4am and drive to work asap when required.

15+1 now and sickness is easing, probably an average of every other day to three days now. Much more manageable. Defo do not look pregnant yet and secretly kidding myself that all my jeans will still fit until like 30 weeks.....

all those with cat issues, mine are causing all sorts of mischief now they are going out more with the longer days. One is completely refusing to use the catflap though as they never had one in the previous house and he fairly simple as far as cats go (I taught him sit and to give his paw but I can't teach him to go through a sodding cat flap!?)

Mrsbluebell17 · 28/06/2017 21:33

Thanks for everyone that's responded re mat leave. It's good to know people's plans to help me make mine. I think I'll have a plan to work towards but it's going to very much depend, like glittery, on how able I am nearer the time.

Scandalicity · 29/06/2017 20:19

Hi everyone,

Hopping over from the TTC#1 thread (was also kaydee on there earlier this year!) got my BFP a couple of weeks ago!

I was slightly reluctant to join this thread as earlier this year I had an ectopic pregnancy. I had surgery to remove it & my right tube on 3rd April this year (reason for the name change - I got a strop on after my op & deleted my Mumsnet account, so had to have a new name on rejoining Blush), and after healing have been extremely lucky to conceive again at the first month of trying.

I'm now 7 weeks & we had a scan on Tuesday which confirmed this one is exactly where it's supposed to be Smile it was measuring smaller than I thought I was but when it's only a couple of millimetres this early I'm not too concerned, and the little heartbeat was flashing away, so fingers crossed.

Aiming to have a reassurance scan in a couple of weeks at around 9 weeks to check its cooking as it should be, and generally trying to be really positive about this one Grin

Mrsbluebell17 · 29/06/2017 20:33

Hi scandalicity! Welcome and congratulations! Sorry to hear about your previous challenges but have my fingers crossed for you for this one. Keep us posted with how you go on Grin

Miranda234 · 29/06/2017 20:54

Congratulations scandal, I was so sorry to see you had an ectopic, you got your BFP just before me last time but so happy to see you have your BFP now. Wishing you an easy journey from now on 😊

Hope everyone else is doing ok, not long now for you seahawk very exciting!

Still on the cat subject, I got woken up to yet another bird flying round our lounge this morning! The cat has now been confined to the utility room/outside over night!!

kavanaughkj · 30/06/2017 13:42

Welcome Scandal! I remember you as kaydee, was so pleased to see your BFP. :)

Had my usual midwife check yesterday, baby growing at normal rate, no sugar or protein in urine, BP a bit high but OK, and baby's head downwards but not engaged yet. I feel like every time I get up these days it's dancing around on my bladder though, and I'm still lumbering everywhere, but only 2 more weeks to go and I'm on mat leave (hooray!). Also started off my first NCT class yesterday and the group there seem like they'll be really nice, which was encouraging. What was slightly alarming was that there was supposed to be an extra couple there who had already had their baby 10 weeks early!! I'm the first of the group to be in line to pop so we'll see if baby holds to schedule or not.

Busy weekend ahead, another NCT class and hopefully going to buy a car so that I have options about where to go with baby Kav when he/she arrives :)

Hope all's going well Seahawk!

Hi all, sorry I've not posted recently. I had my dating scan on the 14th, all looked fine and I was measuring 13 weeks putting my due date forward a few days to 20th December ☺️ still waiting for the combined screening results (assuming I am low risk as they told me I'd receive a phone call within a few days if high risk..) but I'm at the midwife for my 16wk appointment on Tuesday so I can chase up the results then. We are finding out the gender next week (hopefully), can't wait to see the little one again 🙂

Woohoo for the mat leave Kav, bet you can't wait! Good to hear you've got a nice NCT group, hopefully make some nice mummy friends there.

So happy to see you here scandal (I also remember you as kaydee ☺️). Congratulations! How are you keeping? Good to hear you're feeling positive!

Bluebell bit of a late response and early days for me so may change my mind, but at the moment I'm thinking of finishing at 37 weeks (but using a week or two of annual leave so officially starting maternity at 38/39).

Hope you're doing ok Seahawk!

Seahawk80 · 01/07/2017 00:51

Hi guys, thanks for thinking of me! Still pregnant! Had a busy day today, didn't feel baby move much so went in just to get checked, all was fine but glad I went as this baby is quite lazy and I would have worried all weekend! I think it was just sulking as I hadn't had anything sugary! The midwife did say that she could see from the monitor that I'm having tightenings and I have felt period like pains on and off. She said you might be in labour already! I texted DH and made him
panic!!!

Had a last date night tonight and bumped into a load of our ex work colleagues which was nice. We left them to the heavy drinking after an our or so and went for a romantic dinner. We've planned a low key but fun weekend and then if nothing happens off to hospital for induction on Monday!

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend. Welcome scandal
kav I hope you don't suffer much more - my issues with baby feeling like it was on my bladder stayed the same so hopefully it's as bad as it will get for you. Do you feel better after standing/ walking for a while? I find the first 5 minutes the worst. Glad you have a nice nct group. It's amazing how you've just met these people and within weeks are having conversations that are tmi and you normally wouldn't have with new friends for years!

Musicgrrl · 01/07/2017 08:25

Lovely to hear your update seahawk! Have the sweeps been okay this week? Glad baby perked up after being a bit lazy and super exciting that you might be in early labour! Date night and low key weekend sound great. Is the plan still to seduce DH? I am not sure I can imagine doing that at full term (well, I'm certainly not feeling inclined to at the moment!) sorry to hear that DH is struggling a bit in his new role. Sure it will settle down soon and I agree it is likely to be a combination of that and impending fatherhood that is impacting him!

miranda your cat is insane!! Makes mine seem not too bad at all! My worry is about how I will cope with all the gifts while I'm home alone on maternity leave...

kav I've also started NCT classes now. The first week there were 8 couples but now one couple have already had their baby at 32 weeks! It has certainly made me get my arse in gear for buying more baby bits and thinking about a basic hospital bag. I need to get up now as we have a morning session today on breastfeeding. Hoping it will be informative!

Will catch up more later as I have lots more to say to people!

Musicgrrl · 02/07/2017 19:59

Seahawk good luck for tomorrow if you aren't already in labour! You got this Smile

Mrsbluebell17 · 02/07/2017 20:12

Thinking of you Seahawk!

MissyJones80s · 02/07/2017 20:16

Hi scandal I remember you! Glad all going well, must be so reassuring to see that scan this time!!! We will both be having scans around the same time, my 12 wk scan is the same week as your 9 week.

seahawk I'm wondering how your weekend has gone...and if there is any news!!! Exciting times. Glad you had a nice last date night...keep us posted Grin

Seahawk80 · 03/07/2017 05:07

Hi all. Still nothing happening here! Had a great weekend, farmers market and cinema Saturday followed by a country pub lunch and visit to my sister yesterday. Had really bad period type pains on the way to the pub but nothing since. I have to call the hospital to check it's ok to come in for induction this morning so I managed to sleep pretty well by convincing myself that they will be too busy after the weekend and that I'll have to wait at least until later today. Will keep you posted!

DH had a few beers at lunch and then went out for a few more with the nct guys, I will laugh if he has to go to work today as
I don't think he'll be feeling his best - sometimes I think we're both a bit too
Chilled out about things!

Seahawk80 · 03/07/2017 08:52

We're off to hospital! Am expecting lots of waiting around. Hopefully next update will be to say baby Seahawk is here but I expect it will be at least a couple of days.

I hope everyone had a good weekend!

MissyJones80s · 03/07/2017 09:49

All the best seahawk hope you don't have to wait too long!!!!

Question from me. We are thinking of taking a week break in September. All being well I should be 22 weeks by then. We are looking to go find the sun and came across a nice place in Montenegro. Did anyone else travel abroad during pregnancy and what is your advice? I'm a bit of a worry wart and now thinking what happens if something happens when away etc

Seahawk80 · 03/07/2017 10:16

Thanks missy I work in travel so I say go for it! Just check there is a decent hospital within a reasonable distance and that there is no reason not to travel there (e.g. Zika virus). We had a lovely babymoon in Mauritius at 24/25 weeks. Was perfect timing.

I'm just hanging around at hospital a bit bored!

MrsG280516 · 03/07/2017 10:24

Good luck Seahawk hope it all goes nice and smoothly for you.

Missy I went to Santorini at 29 weeks, there's really nothing to worry about for travelling when pregnant as long as you use common sense and follow NHS advice about compression socks, vaccines etc. Just research the closest maternity services to where you are staying and make sure you have travel insurance which covers you specifically for pregnancy. Most insurance policies say they will cover you but then they have exceptions such as not providing emergency repatriation in the event that you went into labour early etc as they don't see that as being an "unexpected event" past a certain point in pregnancy. I took out a separate policy as I was over 28 weeks and used a company called Ravenhall and their MamA2B insurance.

Musicgrrl · 03/07/2017 10:26

Yay seahawk - exciting for some action! Do you know if you're already a bit dilated? Sounds like your body has been gearing up. Is it a pessary or an injection that they give you to get things going? I hope Mr seahawk has some programmes loaded up on an iPad or something for you.

Miranda234 · 03/07/2017 11:19

Good luck seahawk, will be thinking of you 😊

Carley27 · 03/07/2017 11:46

Good luck Seahawk!! Will be thinking of you, look forward to your next update :)

glitteryvibes · 03/07/2017 21:31

Good luck seahawk hope it all goes well and your not there too long

glitteryvibes · 03/07/2017 23:11

Good luck seahawk hope it all goes well and your not there too long

Mrsbluebell17 · 04/07/2017 00:08

Keep thinking about you Seahawk. Hope all is going well and that when my time comes I can be as calm as you are. Smile

Seahawk80 · 04/07/2017 05:40

Thanks everyone. Still on the ward. They don't examine you to see how dilated you are for 24hrs after the pessary which is a bit frustrating but I feel pretty uncomfortable and when they monitored me last night she was like you're having pretty decent contractions. I asked for some paracetamol and they gave me codeine as well based on the strength of the contractions so hopefully something is happening. I think she felt a bit bad that I'd pretty much been ignored because I didn't make any fuss. Luckily for me I'm pretty good with pain. I sent DH home because it's pretty noisy here and I wanted one of us to get some sleep. Iv got earplugs but it's not great. To be honest this is the worst thing, being on the ward listening to other people's noise. I'm going to start pushing for a bit more monitoring etc as I'm not getting it every 6 hours (which they said I need and was the reason I couldn't go home). I think the people who scream their heads off def get the most attention! The woman next to me was making a huge fuss and then they examined her and said you're only 2cm dilated, she's calmed down since then!

Just really hope they can break my waters after 24 hrs, I really don't want to be stuck here waiting another 24hrs with another pessary. I think if it looks like that's the case I will kick up a fuss and ask to see a dr about the other options, I only had about 3 hrs sleep last night and really don't want that again before labour even starts properly.

Thanks for all the well wishes!

LovelyFishy · 04/07/2017 11:46

Very exciting that things are hopefully getting going for you Seahawk but what a pain the hospital are being! I found labour midwives were great but pre and post wards not so much. Like you said, if you don't yell lots you get ignored! Fingers crossed for you. Smile

Little Fishy and I just back from the doctors after her 8 week jabs, she was a trooper! Grin
