I have my 20 week scan on Tuesday, bit late joining this thread.

I am feeling a lot of movement since about 18 weeks. This is my third, have 2 DS and WILL find out the sex on Tuesday (I hope!) as need to know if its gonna be three boys. Secretly I really want a daughter but what will be will be... I can't change it now!

xx

popsycal · 17/10/2004 19:53

this baby seems to be sat on my bladder - been wiggling about LOADS today

looking forward to the scan but getting increasingly nervous. Didnt feel nervous first time round1

thedame71 · 17/10/2004 20:03

I find the movement so reassuring.

Can't sleep at night, mattress feels like its stuffed with bricks, must get a new one although said that with my first pregnancy five years ago! I really must though, I can't bear it!

Going to loo at least twice a night, not sick any more but can swing into full blown antichrist at any moment particulary when DP is being useless!

SenoraPostrophe · 17/10/2004 20:05

Popsy, I just noticed your name next to this thread: I didn't know you were pregnant! Congratulations to you and everyone else on this thread.

PS this probably isn't the place to say this, but I will anyway: I presume you never did get round to posting that parcel, because I didn't receive it. I'm exactly the same, so I still appreciate the thought! If you did post it then you must think I'm an ungrateful old cow.

Hope the scan's a good one!

aku · 18/10/2004 09:04

Hello everyone! I check up on everybody's progress from time to time. Twins are doing fine and we have our next scan (20wks)on the 5th of Nov. Can't say I am feeling much movement, though I think I get protests from them when I lie on my belly!

Pidge · 18/10/2004 09:24

Wow, it's been busy on here! Welcome to thedame and ZoeC, hope I haven't missed anyone else new.

I seem to be the only one having a 23 week scan rather than a 20 week scan! So have to wait until November 5th for mine.

Having said I didn't want to know the gender on the other thread, I would be tempted if only to help dd get to grips with the idea of a brother or sister. But this is just too early for me, if I was offered another chance to find out at 35 weeks I'd probably take it. Since we won't, I think we'll just wait for the surprise.

ZoeC, I also have a 2 year old dd and had a very long (almost 3-day) labour with her, due to her being posterior, and I'm going for a homebirth this time too! Had some very reassuring words the other day from pupuce, one of mumsnet's doulas, who said that even if a second baby is posterior it often doesn't matter because there's so much more room for them to be able to turn when the labour starts. Whereas first time round it does tend to cause prolonged and agonising labour, failure to progress etc. So I found that comforting.

I also found out some info about anti-D from my midwife on Friday. She said some hospitals are introducing routine jabs during pregancy for rhesus negative women, but not the one I'm at, as they don't feel it really mitigates any risks. The only circumstances where I'd get anti-D before the birth are if I got jabbed really hard in the stomach, or if there was any bleeding at all (even a single drop). I'm happy with that approach.

Anyone else still feeling sick? I feel sick in the evenings. Had a night out with dp on Friday and was back home and in bed by 9.30pm, so dp went to the pub with our babysitting friend!!!

popsycal · 18/10/2004 10:30

I am due 7th of March. I have 2 DS, one 4.5 years and one is 2 years old... I must be mad!

bonym · 18/10/2004 14:17

Pidge - good work on the round-up! Looks as though I'm going to be the last on this thread to give birth - unless I'm really early! Still feeling really tired in the afternoons and finishing work at lunchtime - so I'm for my my sleep now!! BTW - anyone else getting headaches all the time? They're not really severe but I have them almost every day - seem to be tied in with the tiredness as they often go after I've slept. I thought all the yucky symptoms were supposed to have gone by now!

misdee · 18/10/2004 14:35

pidge, erm i have 2 dd'sw ,no ds's (not yet anyway)

ZoeC · 18/10/2004 14:43

Hi,

Thanks for the welcome messages - it's gonna take me a while to get used to all the names, but that list will help a lot!

Pidge - yep, your labour sounds the same as mine. I'd read that I should be better with HB - more relaxed so I'm keeping fingers crossed for a better presentation. Don't fancy 3 day labour again!!!

I'm still not sure about finding out the sex - dh doesn't want to, I'm undecided and since they don't offer but wait to be asked at the scan, we probably won't find out. I just think it would help prepare dd (and let me know if I need to be buying boys clothes this time).

Pidge · 18/10/2004 14:57

misdee - oops , knew I'd mess up the details somewhere. At least I didn't put you down as expecting triplets! Sorry about that. How is your dh?

ZoeC - yup I'm keen to avoid the old 3-day labour thing this time round! I hope to follow my mum, who laboured for 3 days with me and then popped my younger brother out in a couple of hours!

popsycal · 18/10/2004 16:53

scan was fine - put me forward 4 days though....guess that makes me sometime between 3rd and 7th march then!

All seems well. Didnt find out the sex in the end but I am pretty sure I saw boy's bits!

bonym · 18/10/2004 17:09

Glad scan went well popsycal

Pidge · 18/10/2004 17:17

Good news about the scan popsycal - are you still off work resting?

Londonmummy05 · 18/10/2004 19:30

well done on the run down pidge
I'm doing well, I'm really feelinga growth spurt this week, I've been fine up until now but I feel exhausted a lot of the time, and feel resteless as if my stomach getting bigger (it has got much bigger this week!)
2 more days until scan and baby show on Friday so exciting babified week! How are you all doing, doea anyone know what to llok for in a scan, we'renot going to find out the sex but I want to accidently find out

sweeney · 19/10/2004 10:25

hi everyone
thanks for that pidge- nice work!
i'm having the day off work today and feeling pretty guilty. I don't feel up to it, a bit tired, bit run down feeling.
it's hard to believe i'm not just being lazy and skiving.
yesterday i had a few short stabbibg pains in my abdomen, is this normal? it doesn't feel serious but any ideas anyone? reading '3 in a bed' by deborah jackson, anyone else thinking of sharing?
hope things ok with your man misdee. oh.what does d stand for in dd and ds and dh? i get the daughter son husband bit, is it darling or dear ?

misdee · 19/10/2004 11:34

the d can be wither. sometimes i think its stands for devil especially with my 2 lol.

dh is doing ok has now got brochitus (icant spell it for the life of me). he is loaded up with anti biotics, anti sickness tabs and painkillers. i'm off out in a bit so he can rest and my bank account can take a battering!! dd1 is being picked up from nursery by grandma today, so its just me and dd2 to while away the hours shopping lol.

nashers · 19/10/2004 16:28

Hello there. Haven't been in touch for a while - everything has been pretty manic this end. can't believe I'm juggling new business, 1st time pregnancy and house hunting at the same time!
Life is pretty good though it has to be said. I feel a lot happier about things now. My weight and the immense fatigue was begining to get the better of me but had Mummy Nashers to stay at the weekend so we shopped till we dropped with lots of tlc thrown in - marvellous! Can't quite believe how much my tummy is starting to stick out - thought it wasn't supposed to happen for a while though...have been told is normal! Is strange feeling to not fit into any clothes though - went to topshop on oxford street and got myself some nice bits and pieces from the maternity dept. Feel much better now. Also realised that I had started to knock around the house in my comfy-cocos all the time and wasn't feeling so great. Have been making a conserted effort to put on a bit of blusher and mascara, some half decent clothes and a bit of excersise -0 amazing what it does! Got a question: I've been getting lots of feelings of movement in my tumtum, almost like period pains but they don't hurt - is this normal?
Hope you're all well x

bonym · 19/10/2004 17:28

Movement? It's probably baby nashers making his/her presence felt! That, or wind...!!!!

misdee · 20/10/2004 08:36

hello!!

just got a letter thro, the path lab never did my rubella screening. so now have to have another jab.

how is everyone? bumps and ladies ok?

OP posts:
Londonmummy05 · 20/10/2004 10:59

hi ladies, nashers when do the movements occur, my little on keeps moving whenever I have something sweet (quite often) I think you are feeling baby nasher I've got my 20 week scan today- yippe! Although I know it's a test for abnormalities so fingers crossed for healthy bubby. It's a t 2;45 and don#t think I can wait! How much weight have you all put on, I weighed myself for the first time in ages and have put on 16 pounds! whoops, the way I look at it though is that I'm half way there and if I only put on another 16 it will be 32 altogether. Apparently you get full quickly as your uterus grows and don't eat as much so a lot of the weight will be baby, anyway who cares right? but it would be reassuring to know I'm not alone- so if you haven't put on that much weight I don't want to hear it just kidding.

Pidge · 20/10/2004 11:11

Londonmummy05 - we don't have scales, so haven't a clue about weight, I recommend this strategy heartily!

I am feeling the baby move more and more, particularly at around 9pm s/he has a little bouncing castle session it seems.

I wondered about sweet things too - I made scones on Sunday and scoffed them piled high with jam and cream and the little bub went bouncing about like crazy. Am more inclined to think it was coincidence though, don't think it's like they really go on a sugar high when you do.

sweeney - I like the idea of bed sharing in principle, but found I just couldn't sleep with dd in there! So decided on putting her in the cot alongside the bed. She did come in with us sometimes, if I fed her lying down in the early hours of the morning. Though again I usually found it more comfy to feed sitting up in a chair. Also to my amazement found myself chucking dd into her own room at 4 months because she was making such a racket in the cot that she was waking me up even when she wasn't waking! These days if we have to sleep in the same room I wear earplugs
