Pleased they could put your mind at ease badger!

Brightsmoke I can imagine not realising labour has started, specifically not realising waters have broken if they don't go quickly, but then again I've never done this before so I've no idea.

Rasperry I've not gone off popcorn at all... In fact I made a special trip to the supermarket to buy my new love (peanut butter popcorn) which I promptly scoffed! I have completely gone off Mexican food though, bleugh.

Newbie wow that must've been one active baby! My bump moves visibly through a thick material dress but not seen it through the coat yet :)

Today I'm feeling part of baby under the ribs and it's quite uncomfortable, so an evening on the sofa for me.

MrsJW15 · 06/03/2017 21:36

Ooh peanut butter popcorn Peach! That sounds great!

savagehk · 06/03/2017 21:37

I found this very interesting for those of you who are doing research around birth practices. This is from ACOG (i.e. American), who are often much more focused on medicalised birth than in the UK, so quite refreshing to see that some of the 'default' positions they have historically assumed being revisited.

Samatamfabahaba · 06/03/2017 21:45

Is anyone else SO uncomfortable when sitting on the sofa they want to burn said sofa and go immediately to SCS and buy a new one? I'm irrationally angry every time I see the damn thing. Not even our "comfy chair" works anymore...

savagehk · 06/03/2017 21:50

No, I love our sofa, it reclines too Grin. Just struggle getting out of it!

EsmesBees · 06/03/2017 21:59

Yes I'm getting to the sofa hating phase. I need to get my exercise ball down from the attic. I remember my NCT teacher advising against relaxing on the sofa anyway, to encourage the baby to move head down. No idea if there is anything in that.

Badgerbird · 06/03/2017 21:59

Aaah thanks Lovelies! Smile Yes much relief! They all reassured me to always call if in doubt, even with anterior placenta.

klane I asked midwife this today. She said 28 weeks is 6.5 months. They work it out over 40 weeks. Think that makes sense?

Glad your scan went well too yellow

Blimey newbie I'd have loved to see that!!

I did feel like that the other night sam but ok now. I feel like the bed and me have a strained relationship now though, it's a def love/hate thing going on! Love the idea but by the morning I hate the bloody thing!! Angry

Oh and I now have piles!!!! Blush Pregnancy is sooooo glamorous.

Samatamfabahaba · 06/03/2017 22:05

I want a new one. I sat in a reclining one with drink holder spaces and a little storage bit on Saturday and almost cried when we left without buying it. I'm not joking either, I had to take deep breaths to calm myself down, totally blaming the hormones for that delight.
Badger, I'm also the proud owner of piles... it's fecking awful isn't it? I'm so sick of eating prunes and drinking 17000000 litres of water a day and therefore having 8 million wee's a day.

savagehk · 06/03/2017 22:06

esmes no, that's right, sofa sitting is the wrong position. Reminds me I've brought my pump home from work (ball there too!) so should pump up the ball here. DS is going to think it's a great thing to climb on / throw though...

ClaireSunflower · 06/03/2017 22:24

I'm comfortable on our sofa, it helps that it's an l shaped one I can lie down on. Our bed on the other hand... I'm reaching the stage where I want to abandon it altogether and move to the sofa at night! It's a tempur mattress which I've always found so comfortable since we got it but recently I just keep waking up hundreds of times a night with searing pain in my hips and bum Angry

MrsJW15 · 06/03/2017 22:28

Definitely mixed views on the sofa. I switch between that and the ball in the evenings. I like being able to lean back on the sofa but it's hard to get comfortable!

Does anyone else's bump go hard in the evenings at all? Mine does, sometimes for a while. I don't think it can be BH as it lasts for too long.

beanturnipandspud · 06/03/2017 22:42

Mine does this mrsjw, mine is a mixture of BH and baby's back. He likes to push out at night when I'm relaxed but my tummy also tightens throughout the evenings which are BH. I had them with Turnip too but don't remember them with Bean.

WishIWasSleeping · 07/03/2017 00:55

How dare I not read for a day! Grin
Bean - I found it really hard to maintain my supply when I went back to work at 6m, so more expressing would have helped there, however, the supply I did have disappeared quickly when I used it as per instruction on the purées I made for weaning. They instruct baby's usual milk', which for me was breast as she was EBF.
I did BLW along with some purées and mush to make sure she was getting lots of flavours - as she went to nursery at 6m, and I started wearing at 5.5m.

Went to see my mw today - basically asked for a referral to Physio for my hip, back and thigh pains, she said there's no point as the waiting list was too long and baby would be here before I got an appt and maybe I should go private..!! I knew I should have pushed harder last time! Paracetamol just doesn't touch it anymore! (I'll be 31w on thurs) I also asked of my changes for induction (hypertension and on alert for pE) and mw told me I would have to ask the consultant at my next appt at hospital. That's not until 27/4, which is the day I leave work! I was hoping for them to tell me I'd be induced around then and I was going to move forward my mat leave! Ah well. Push on we must - it's only about 7 more weeks right?!? Shock

Ohhh.... ball at home! I never even considered that! I just keep shifting on the sofa and poof and floor! DD is going to love it if I can find it, and hubby will get really worried as I used it to labour last time! Grin
I'm excited by the thought of his terrified face when he comes home and I'm sat on it... #EvilWife ..!!

lullaby23 · 07/03/2017 03:20

mrsp I use months like you although will say weeks if it's someone who has kids or is pregnant as they understand! On Friday my cleaning lady asked me if I was having a baby which I thought was very funny as otherwise maybe she thought I'd just been eating much more than usual Grin

Glad you had good scans badger and yellow

savage I thought you meant breastpump not ball pump and was very confused for a moment there!

I seem to be accidentally wandering into tandem nursing territory so my weapon against engorgement will be a 2 year old!

I think baby has gone from breech to transverse as I'm feeling twitches on both sides of bump, or maybe she's doing the splits?? GTT and 28 week check up tomorrow.

newbieho · 07/03/2017 06:02

Claire I would not survive without our tempur mattress, it saved my back. I remember you've mentioned pregnancy yoga classes - maybe the teacher could help by giving you some exercises to ease the pain?

Brightsmoke · 07/03/2017 06:13

Lullaby, love that your cleaner has only just asked!

Feeling very lucky that both bed and sofa are extra comfy and both cost a fucking bomb so no pain and sleeping/sitting very well! Though a birthing ball sounds like it might be useful (is there a difference between birthing ball and gym ball?!)

31 week MW app for me today, interested to see what baby measures at as only 2nd measurement here.

Hope everyone has a lovely day :)

EsmesBees · 07/03/2017 06:22

savage I hadn't considered the effect of bringing a huge ball into the life of a ball obsessed toddler. I can just imagine the chaos.

Lullaby so impressed you'll be feeding two at once. Really amazing. I wonder if the older one will notice a change in the milk when the baby comes?

growcookeat · 07/03/2017 08:02

Haven't read the thread for a day and it's taken me ages to catch up!!

Good luck Bright.** I have 31 week appt today too so am enjoying a mini mid-week lie in. Hopefully measurements will be nice and even on the chart.

Baby is definitely transverse most of the time - kicks were strong enough last night to bounce DHs hand of my bump. Those of you with DC - when did baby move head down for you? I'm worried mine won't move and I'll end up with a breech baby Confused

Also, anyone getting butter fingers? I've smashed two glasses, a dinner plate and a kilner jar in the last week! Hard tiled kitchen floor is not helpful

RasperryInAMelon · 07/03/2017 08:24

Good lucky at your appointment bright

I'm having a tough time with the bed and the sofa too. I don't even seem to role onto my back by accident now which means I stay on my left side but inevitably wake up in agony 😩

Might pick up a gym ball today though to replace the sofa!

1004Rise · 07/03/2017 08:39

I'm struggling sitting on anything that means I have to sit at 90 degrees, there doesn't seem to be enough space for my bump between my legs and my ribs Hmm fortunately the sofa reclines but then I get stuck an feel like a beetle stuck on it's back with my legs in the air.... DH just laughs, revenge will be sweet!! Grin

Rustler74 · 07/03/2017 08:41

Hi
Been to pregnancy club last night in local children's centre. It's quite informal with some chatting and then a presentation by the midwives which was about BF, exactly the subject I was hoping to know more about. We had some 'instructions' and discussed a number of questions about the advantages and concerns of bf. They also explained that they're not legally allowed to promote formula feeding Shock. That explains a lot really. One of the midwives said that whilst BF is the norm, it's about time that formula feeding is no longer demonised. The most important thing is that baby is fed. The great advantage of bf that I had never thought of is baby's body learning to metabolise better which has advantages in later life. I really didn't know that uk is the country where bf rates are lowest! That really surprised me, particularly with all the pro campaigning by the midwives in my experience. One 'explanation' could be that the breasts are still given a sexual meaning more than what they are intended for in mammals generally . Also it is still frowned upon to be seen in public! I don't mean the fake Daily Mail articles so much but real life. I've at least discovered a local cafe where I can take baby happily and make myself comfortable bf'ing. I also liked the reply to my question about giving birth in midwife led unit even if antenatal care is consultant led. Yay!

I had a fantastic baby cuddle with my friends 4 week old and I just can't wait to hold my own bundle in my arms! My friend had a good experience with planned c section due to breech in the same centre as I'm going, so all very encouraging. I am getting another cuddle today hopefully with a 4 month old, and checking his fitting into the car seat as he seems to whine a lot when in it.
Have a good day!
(Meant to reply to some of your comments as well but my fat fingers are annoyingly slow typing!)

1004 does sitting legs akimbo like a man help at all?

Another one with a 31 w midwife appt this morning.

SanitysSake · 07/03/2017 09:10

So for the past 4 days insanely busy, but back! Hope you're all doing well?

Currently 31+1 with allegedly just 8 weeks and 5 days to go. Arrrghh!

In the last 48 hours, things inside the bump appear to have changed quite a bit.

The baby is REALLY lumping the hell out of me. Last night for the first time, I got what felt like a foot under my right rib. Shocked me so much! Also the sweeping motions are incredibly forceful, that they're taking my breath away! Also got horrendous heartburn, which won't be eased by anything. I have problems with Reflux anyway due to a faulty valve, for which I'm prescribed Omeprazole daily. But even this isn't working re: the heart burn. Anyone got any ideas? At the moment, I'm pacing the hall until the food goes down a bit and I have more space for being squished by the bump.

For those of you who have been through all this before; does the kicking and thumping reduce towards the end.. Or is this just a taster of things to come? Due to get married in 4 weeks and I'm petrified I'll be asked 'do you, Sanity, take your OH to be your lawful wedded husband?' and I'll be doubled up groaning and panting at either a forceful boot to the cervix or wanting to vomit up pure bile!

Starting to clean like a demon now, too. Weird how that takes over...

Grin
savagehk · 07/03/2017 09:16

sanity ask your gp/pharmacist if you can take an antacid as well as the heartburn drugs. I find a dilute antacid works, my preferred is Eno but it's hard to find in the UK. Andrews (??) might be similar, and I think it works the same way as Rennies although I've never had that either!

Also - yes, the movement does change. Essentially baby gets bigger and you'll have less 'kicks' or 'punches' but more entire-bump-roll type movements as there's less space.

MissMooMoo · 07/03/2017 09:17

I feel really bad writing this but I still don't feel really pregnant! I am 30 weeks tomorrow. I am still walking between 6-10 km a day (dont drive)
The only annoying thing is needing to wee every hour and its always SO disappointing that its never a big wee haha just a little tiny one.

Baby moved from head down to sideways last night. I was lying in bed and saw/felt it.
Kicks are back to being on both sides again. Have my scan to check placenta on the 31st so I guess they will tell me baby's position too.

I have my whooping cough jab at 10 this morning. Does it hurt?
