Great news Badger.

Tea I think I know what you mean. Sometimes feels like baby is thudding away at the bottom. It's really weird!

teainbed · 06/03/2017 14:28

Good news Badger.

RedBlu · 06/03/2017 15:21

I think I have a lazy baby, she doesn't move all that much. Has days of really obviously movement like she is trying to escape my stomach then she must move and the kicks and rolls are less noticeable.

Today I keep thinking is she moving enough, then she kicks and I think ah good then a couple of hours later, I am again thinking is she moving enough!!!!

Although at the scan last week she is facing inward so I guess the movements are dulled until she decides to turn back around.

Will be glad when she has less room and stops buggering about to random corners

KLane · 06/03/2017 15:23

Bit random but everyone keeps asking me how many months pregnant I am (I've managed to avoid for the entire pregnancy except answering in weeks), and it seems a bit like the ambiguous week that becomes the third trimester! Anyone have a solid understanding/helpful link? Silly me thought it was straightforward. I know that at 30 weeks I'm into my 7th month, but I think that means I'm 6 months and 2 weeks (per The Bump). Am I overthinking this? What has everyone been saying?

RedBlu · 06/03/2017 15:40

I just go with weeks, months confused me working it out but I am 29 weeks so I guess I could get away with saying seven?!

EsmesBees · 06/03/2017 15:49

I can never remember the number of weeks so I go with 'due in late May'. Which normally elicits a 'ooh not long to go now!' response. When in my head it's ages away still Confused

yellowismyfavourite · 06/03/2017 15:51

Badger glad all is well.
Just back from AFI scan and all fluid levels seem normal. They don't measure the baby at this type of scan, but I got to see the face and heartbeat, although it was hiding a little in the shadows. Am hoping that's it now for hospital visits for a few weeks.
tea I know what you mean... sometimes feels like it is trying to bounce it's head out... very weird feeling!
I usually say weeks when asked but if thinking about months, I work it out from how many months are left... so I say 7 months now moving to 8 on 30th March.

KLane · 06/03/2017 15:54

RedBlu Glad I'm not the only one who is confused :)

Esmes I get the same! Talk to me about "not long to go" once I'm not wearing my winter coat and scarf anymore. Then maybe it will feel like it isn't forever away.

vanilla8 · 06/03/2017 16:09

Ah the months/weeks debate! I go by weeks or days! 78 days for us due on 24/05

beanturnipandspud · 06/03/2017 16:18

This is where I get confused too. To me there is 30 days in a month on avg and in my head we have 3 months to go ...90 days however I only have 79 days to go .. I've lost 11 days somewhere 😂 I am so not ready for this baby, and yet so over being pregnant.

Taking bean and turnip swimming now in the hope that it will ease my aches and pains 🤰🏼

Tickyboovicki · 06/03/2017 16:41

Hello again! Long time no post, but had a very strange couple of days. Think baby must have moved into an awkward position as I was getting the worst pain low down! Then worked yesterday (looking after teenager) and was in agony by the evening! Felt like my legs and hips and seized up, and this morning I could still barely move! So no work today, some gentle stretching and a nice warm bath seems to be helping though 😊
My normal coat now officially no longer fits, but wondering if it's too late to be worth getting a new one? There's some on eBay for under £30 that at maternity, but look like they could be used after, plus with our weather I might need it for summer anyway 😂

MrsJW15 · 06/03/2017 16:51

Also no idea about months! At the moment I'm saying 7and a half, but it doesn't really make sense. Next weekend will be two months to go. I try and answer in weeks or say when the baby is due.

Still feels fairly far away, but I think spring and (maybe) warmer weather will start to make it feel real!

FoxMulder · 06/03/2017 16:58

I was asked today how long to go and I said 'a couple of months'. I think weeks doesn't mean a lot to most people unless they have young kids themselves. I divide my weeks by 4.3333333 to work out my months Grin

1004Rise · 06/03/2017 17:01

After the first couple of times people asked me about months I was really sad and used a calculator.... 40 (weeks) divided by 9 (months) = 4.4 then multiplied by 6 or 7 which was my best guess in months to see which was closer to the number of weeks I was. By that calculation 7 months is about 31+1 weeks. This isn't particularly accurate but it at least gave me a number I could say without looking really confused... as in how can you not know how pregnant you are ConfusedHmm

1004Rise · 06/03/2017 17:02

Ha fox! Great minds and all that!! Wink

MissMooMoo · 06/03/2017 17:18

I have just been telling people 10 weeks left.
Some of them think thats ages away and then I mention baby is due in May and they say ohhh not long now.

mrspage1985 · 06/03/2017 19:12

I go from the rough time in the month
E.g. I am due end of May, so will count myself 7 months when it gets to end of March and have said 6 months since end of feb! X

savagehk · 06/03/2017 19:17

From my experience last time you get 'not long to go now' waaaay before your 'due' date (which is rather arbitrary, as you're not overdue till 42 weeks anyway). If you say to the average person in the street who asks that you are due in a week or even two weeks, they start eyeballing you as if a baby is going to pop out of you right that minute. Once you go past due date, everyone looks positively alarmed if you say you're overdue....

EsmesBees · 06/03/2017 19:38

You are right about that savage. I went 10 days over last time and can remember the fear in stranger's eyes, like my waters were going to go there and then!

Barnes79 · 06/03/2017 19:49

MrsP - I do the same as you, due end of May so say I'm 6 months at the mo.

On a different matter, is anyone else finding themselves getting stuck in chairs? My sacroiliac joint (back of pelvis) keeps getting "stuck" and I have to wiggle/rock until I can free and stand up.

beanturnipandspud · 06/03/2017 19:51

Breastfeeding ladies, may sound like a stupid question but why is a pump an essential?

I 'gave up' bf with bean after 10 days and with turnip I only managed 48hours. This time I plan on exclusively breastfeeding until we introduce solids.

Does expressing make life easier? Why do you express?

newbieho · 06/03/2017 20:01

On my way back home the baby decided to turn and bump started to move - it was very visible even under the winter jacket Shock Luckily fellow commuters were more interested in their mobile screens then in looking at the bump (although the person who was seating next to me gave me a few weird looks)...

EsmesBees · 06/03/2017 20:01

It's not really essential bean but gives you the flexibility to give an occasional bottle if you fancy it. It's also useful if you have to be away from the baby for any reason and want to remain comfortable. It really came in to its own for me when I got mastisis, but hopefully that won't happen to you.

savagehk · 06/03/2017 20:11

What esmes said. Not essential, but useful if you wanted/needed to express so you could be away from baby. Especially at first, when feeds are every two hours. This time I'll be expressing one feed a day from quite early and having oh give it to baby, last time we did but got out of the habit and had a bottle refuser at 6 months (he'd had bottles without incident at 7 weeks, 9 weeks, etc).

teainbed · 06/03/2017 20:13

Agree it's not essential bean. You can hand express if you get engorged and you don't have to give bottles at all if you don't want to. But I like having a bit of milk in the freezer (in case I want to go out) and I expressed when I went back to work to maintain my supply.
