peas which pump and how much? I'm trying to decide whether to go to the Manchester one and that's probably one of the few things i might buy.

Glad you all got some great deals at the bany show. You are all much braver than I am - the thought of walking around for that long surrounded by so many people fills me with dread! I am now fully embracing being pregnant and well and truly putting my feet up. Only 3 weeks left at work until maternity leave and I cannot WAIT!

Went to hypnobirthing class today (1 of 2, 6hr session) and it was really good. Really informative, and positive but realistic (no promises of pain & intervention free birth!). DH said he feels more prepared too.

I am actually feeling quite....excited about labour?! Not sure how sensible that is!

Sipperskipper · 05/03/2017 17:29

*BABY show!

peasandquiet · 05/03/2017 17:38

Savage, got a medela swing maxi for £160, the best I found online was £230 so huge saving. Originally I was going to just go for a single which is £106 on Amazon ATM. I had a single swing from a pal but she's asked for it bk for a family member. I was happy to invest in a decent pump as if BF is going to work out for me I'm defo going to want to pump a couple of bottles a week, and I found expressing easy and pain free last time, was just feeding that was a nightmare. Vanilla posted their price list yesterday have a look!

EsmesBees · 05/03/2017 17:41

I'm excited about labour skipper. I felt like superwoman after the last one. Perfectly sensible way of looking at it. Glad you found the class useful.

I'm stuck to my sofa with ill toddler DD asleep on top of the bump and her little sister kicking away inside. Feels amazing. It's been a long couple of days, but they are so worth it.

1004Rise · 05/03/2017 17:46

I think my very complaint baby that was head down and kicking me in the ribs has spent today doing tumble turns and is now lying left to right Hmm my bump has completely changed shape and I'm being kicked in different places.....

Brightsmoke · 05/03/2017 18:27

Wow so much to catch up on after the weekend! How are we on page 20 of this thread already?!

We've had a fab weekend away, but very tired now. Going to have an early night! I was feeling nauseous last week (can't remember who has been too!) but it appears to have dissipated this weekend, maybe I'm allergic to work 😂 Only 4 weeks left before I go off on A/L until maternity starts, and I cannot wait!!

Hope everyone has had a good weekend, sounds like lots of you got some bargains from the baby show!

beanturnipandspud · 05/03/2017 18:39

skipper labour is amazing! I've never enjoyed pregnancy ... this third one is the closest I've got to 'enjoyment' but labour I would do every single day. I love it.

I am so looking forward to doing it again, for the last time. 😪

McBaby · 05/03/2017 18:47

Another one looking forward to labour. I have enjoyed the last to but the best bit apart from the baby is not being pregnant anymore! I am so not a good pregnant person.

Teaspoon74 · 05/03/2017 19:14

As a^^ first timer I'm encouraged/ amazed and slightly sceptical ? to hear labour can be enjoyable.

Seriously? In my head it's lots of screaming, straining, bleeding and tearing shudder.

peasandquiet · 05/03/2017 19:15

Another one for whom labour was a really positive experience. I never believed I could do that, until I did! I'm a bit worried it won't be such a good experience this time around but hopefully it will.

MrsJW15 · 05/03/2017 19:26

Ha Tea I'm with you on that one!

I'm getting lots of regular, rhythmic movements often quite low down. Can't work out if they are hiccups or not but it's quite weird!

1004Rise · 05/03/2017 19:28

Teaspoon I'm with you, totally amazed that it could be an enjoyable experience. I think it's bizarre that we're all told that pregnancy is wonderful and labour is awful when it seems that the opposite may be true (the feminist in me is wondering why?) Smile

Rustler74 · 05/03/2017 19:32

Just home from baby show, forgot most already, talking about baby brain. My memory is a sieve, seriously! So the pram buggy was brought home and we are running out of space! Will post a photo of our baby corner with all the stuff under a sheet.
We were looking for a changing unit as well in case they had a good deal, but decided to go for Ikea after all. Not this month though!

We went to a few shows on the stage with Dr Pixie McKenna, lovely lady from Embarrassing bodies, and another lady about breastfeeding. I learned that I won't need to buy a pump just yet, (as the unit where I'll give birth will lend me one to cross those first days) and in case I still struggle I could have a manual pump. From all the pumps I'd seen, The Nuby looked great and was half price but just decided against it for now.

Lidl had a long queue of people to do a short survey and then we received a goody bag which was generously filled. A few good ideas were picked up such as having a cuddly toy or a quilt made from baby's favourite clothes. OH attended a brief basic life support session.

My Oh was very patient throughout the day which is incredibly impressive for him. All in all a very productive day from what I can remember lol!

Welcome to the new ladies! I hope you'll just as much a part of the bunch as I did when I joined.

Well it's not enjoyable in the same way two weeks in the sun is enjoyable teaspoon. There is no denying it hurts, but it's not the same as other pain. It comes and goes and you know you are working towards a goal. Plus, they give you gas and air which I loved! Have a look at Ina May's guide to childbirth. Full of positive stories.

beanturnipandspud · 05/03/2017 19:39

mrsJW and teaspoon when I was preg with bean one of my close friends gave birth and rang me to tell me how amazing her labour was. I was also sceptical.

Now I understand, I've never had a painless labour, it does hurt but you've waited so long to hold that little baby in your arms you kinda forget about the pain.

Then as soon as baby is out, the natural High from adrenaline and happy hormones is out of this world. I can't explain. I think part of it is because of just being annoyed with being pregnant.

I sound like an earth mother hippy ... which I am far from, but labour is amazing!

I also make hardly any noise when labouring, my husband says I moo like a cow as I'm pushing but that it sounds primal almost. I don't remember making animal noises 😂 but definitely no screaming.

beanturnipandspud · 05/03/2017 19:43

Also, really looking forward to the baby show in Manchester next Saturday. Husband had an ACCA exam this week, so haven't had much time with him for the past few weeks (feels like months) ... so looking forward to spending some time with him getting excited about the new baby, whilst the older 2 go to Grandmas for the day 😊

Are there any must see stands? And what was it like for food? Thinking of packing a picnic ... especially for my cucumber haha x

FoxMulder · 05/03/2017 19:52

I'm really excited about labour too! I desperately hope I get to do it again.

Rustler74 · 05/03/2017 19:53

Bean, we took a picnic which we actually quite enjoyed. I didn't see that much decent food being sold apart from outside the show bit, and I was unsure if we would be allowed to go out and come back in (couldn't be bothered to ask).

I found the mothercare stand was good and MadeforMums had some good impartial advice re prams (got ours partly thanks to them). Difficult to say what you should visit as I'm not sure what you're looking for.

EsmesBees · 05/03/2017 19:56

My husband said I 'mooed' in labour too bean. No screaming, I do remember saying 'I can't do this' at one point, and the midwife saying 'of course you can, two more pushes' and I thought 'yep she's quite right, I can do this'.

teainbed · 05/03/2017 20:05

Hmm not sure I could claim to have enjoyed labouring or that it was amazing but the end result clearly is and the relief at the end of it is like nothing else! As is not being pregnant anymore! I think being induced is in no small part to blame though, it never feels like your body is ready for it.

I did feel today for the first time 'I'd quite like to not be pregnant anymore' not that I'd want to deliver at 32 weeks but I'm sure you know what I mean.

RedBlu · 05/03/2017 20:06

I will try and banana trick for cramping, my legs can't take much more and I keep waking my OH up by jumping around the room in pain each night!

I don't use Facebook so I can't try and selling pages but Gumtree has pissed me off!! I found a sleepyhead on there the other day, bargain price but despite emailing within minutes of it going on, it was taken and I am pretty sure it is linked to the one that appeared locally on eBay the next day for a much higher price Envy

Is anyone getting a cold belly? The rest of me is warm but my belly always seems cold? Random.

Wando1986 · 05/03/2017 20:23

We're getting our bathroom re done when I'll be 8 months pregnant, have now told fitters to leave the toilet in place! We'll just replace the loo seat Grin
