Place marking..thanks raspberry

1004Rise · 23/01/2017 21:36

Thanks for the new thread Rasperry and the creativity Adventure - knew you'd have something in your back pocket!!

I have 14 weeks left at work, taking maternity leave the week of my due date and a week holiday before, totally relying on baby being late, family history and all that! Since I have no commute and all I do is sit at a desk all day I'd rather push it out as far as possible to have more time on the other side.

EnterWittyUsernameHere · 23/01/2017 21:40

MrsJW Oh gosh I know, hopefully it all works out!!

mightymouse76 · 23/01/2017 21:45

Thanks for the new thread adventure and raspberry Wink
Moo glad you're feeling better- it must have been very scary.
Grow I hope it passes and you feel better tomorrow too**

On a work tip, I'll carry on until I can't do anymore- was assuming working up to the end of April minimum, maybe 1st week of May if I'm well? If work dries up I plan to batch cook the hell out of those last weeks!

Anyone else getting eczema? Never had it before but I think that's what it is? Backs of hands red, dry and incredibly sore, almost a burning feeling. Putting cream on is painful!

Also wanted to ask what happened at all your 20 week midwife appointments. I've got to move mine AGAIN thanks to work, so will be likely 25+ weeks before I can get a slot again-couldn't even get through to the appointments line today let alone rebook.
Thinking of trying to get a private one instead as worried about missing something important. Do you think it's necessary?
I feel ok and can feel him every day, but don't want to take any chances..

Spam88 · 23/01/2017 21:48

coxs and MrsJW we've gone for the mothercare Roam. Can't remember off the top of my head what other ones I saw that were similar... I've seen them referred to as pramettes a few times though so that might help with googling?

Badgerbird · 23/01/2017 21:48

Oh sauvignon that sounds rubbish Sad You have so much going on please try not to stress about baby stuff too, there is still time for that, there are a few of us who haven't bought/done anything so you aren't alone there. All those hormones and the insomnia won't be helping either so very easy to feel teary and overwhelmed. Don't keep it to yourself though, you can always vent to us if there's no one in RL Flowers

fox we do virtually all of our house stuff ourselves so always something to finish off Confused I didn't realise you were hoping for a homebirth too, have you had one before?

grow that sounds horrid, hope it eases soon.

Nice to see you over here fuzzy :) could you post a link to your pushchair please? Sounds interesting....

Am I right in thinking the Mountain Buggy is ok for newborns too? I'm on the lookout for a 2nd hand one.

Sah1987 · 23/01/2017 21:49

My phone just froze after a huge message!!!

Thanks for the new thread!!
Just place marking
However if you want to update the graph I'm 29 and live in Kent

I haven't brought anything yet so looking like we're more majority than minority!!!

However I do have cot bed and changing unit from last time which 4 year old has only just stopped using as a chest of drawers and bed so been lucky there!!
And have 3 friends who have all just had babies and kept stuff so have 6 piles of clothes awaiting me in girls boys and neutral.
I have my sexing scan tomorrow (well it's a growth scan but we're finding out the sex at 22+5)

I've also found out today my friend is brining round a bumbo, sit up ring, swing chair, rocker, baby bath, bath seat and a host of toys this week!! Just worried about where I'll put it all!!!

I've got 9 weeks left at work, then 6 weeks holiday (Jan-Dec holidays and don't go back til Jan so get full 6 weeks) then starting Mat leave at 38 weeks, so get 8 weeks off before baby is born.
Which I'm gona need as already struggling!!!

My job also got posted today! So should find out who's replacing me for 9 months scary scary stuff xx

Spam88 · 23/01/2017 21:50

mighty I didn't have a 20 week appointment. I had one at 18 and the next one is at 25.

Hello chatty bunch!
Hoping that everyone is marking their place on here.
Productive day today, been to MK (not to celebrate their 50th anniversary which happened to be today) to visit the In Car Safety Centre. People who live close enough by, please do visit as I have come across a lot of choice, excellent knowledge and a big smile without pressure to purchase. It took me 6-7 seats before I found the one I liked best. I know I didn't want one of those baby carriers but I ended up buying one, as the combination 0+/1/2 seats just didn't recline enough. The friendly staff was helpful and also said I needed to bear in mind what I wanted to do afterwards. I have chosen the Britax Safebaby I-size one with isofix base. The great part about that one is, that the base can be made horizontal, no matter what inclination the seat of your own car has. The one that 'on paper' looked best, just didn't cut it for me, so I'm pleased I made that trip. With the others There was either not enough recline for a small baby, or the passenger seat had to be moved so far forward that no one would sit next to the driver comfortably.
Also our John Lewis gift list has been compiled now. I'm wondering if people will want to buy from it...
For those who haven't bought much at all, don't worry! I'm just being obsessively organised, which I couldn't have done if I had been working right now.

I have news from my new maternity unit as well, and my initial appointment will be next Thursday! I'm hoping they'll pull the same thread as the previous team. I didn't change because their care was not good enough (they were excellent so far!) but because I can't imagine a stressless drive to the hospital there once I'm in labour. We are lucky to live in between two hospitals at equal distance from us. Just that one (Watford) is such a pain to get to. Anyone else registered at Lister in Stevenage?

RasperryInAMelon · 23/01/2017 22:26

Cox, we're looking at the silvercross reflex and getting the baby pack with it. Dp wants to try it out first see how light it feels and how easy it is to put up and down. It's essentially an umbrella stroller that fully reclines and you can add the baby pack to use it as a pram for the first few months.

I like it as it's cheaper than getting a pram, it's lightweight and I know when baby sits up we will switch to an umbrella fold pram anyway.

My sister had a bugaboo bee and altho niece was a small toddler it didn't look roomy enough to me. The Reflex is more spacious.

Dp likes that it's lightweight and as baby is due in summer we think this one will work well. I might get the cosy toes.

CinnamonTwist · 23/01/2017 23:01

Mighty yes I've got eczema that has flared up on my inner elbows, only other time I've ever had it was when I had severe vitamin D deficiency last year, I'm hoping it's nothing like that again so it's nice to hear it's not just me who has it! But at the same time sorry to hear that you do too.
Sounds like there may be a few of us on here with tradesmen partners/ husbands? Mine is a carpenter and we moved into our house about 2.5 years ago following him (and me on days off work and weekends) ripping out ALL the walls (bar two internal and obviously the external walls) and completely re flowing the house, we have then worked from our bedroom outwards, he only got internal doors fitted a few weeks ago - nice to have some privacy again (although there are no handles on any of them yet!). Since he's had a definitive deadline of our babies due date the work has suddenly massively sped up, although obviously I haven't been able to help at all since becoming pregnant, so hopefully it will all be ready in time for his arrival! However they do say that a builders house is never finished, and knowing how he likes to tinker with things I suspect something (like the door handles) will remain incomplete for a while! He has taken time out from his business to try to get the house done before the baby arrives, meaning he won't be able to take much time off afterwards, as we will need the income having lost mine and a proportion of his already for this year. But that's part of the 'joys' of being self employed I suppose!

coxsorangepippin · 23/01/2017 23:28

Ooh I'm really glad I asked, I've written down all those names so I can google them and have a look in the shops Smile Thank you all!

mighty and cinnamon I have persistent eczema, in case it helps I find Cetraben cream really good (no steroids in it)

lullaby23 · 24/01/2017 03:23

Placemarking thanks for the new thread Smile

savagehk · 24/01/2017 06:32

mighty did you have the 20 week scan but not the midwife appointment? I think here for non first timers you don't get a 20w midwife appt anyway. Nothing exciting tends to happen at them, usually wee test, heartbeat, blood pressure and "have you booked in for xyz" (whooping cough/flu jab in my case). Bump measurements start at my next appointment (28 ish weeks, but I'm a bit out given moved due dates and holidays).

I've started reacting to my rings so have had to take them off. Not full blown eczema but not anything I've had before, luckily not painful.

Cox we didn't use a pram at all, so can be done. Blossom I've not used it but i know others have got on well with the close caboo.

EsmesBees · 24/01/2017 07:16

Blossom we've got the close caboo. It's a great sling. DD napped wonderfully in it. Only goes up to 6m though.

I started to react to my rings too so they've had to come off. Don't remember this happening last time.

RedBlu · 24/01/2017 08:15

I have just looked, I have another 15 weeks of work then I have taken two weeks of holiday so my maternity leave starts on my due date (22/05). My last day will be 05/05. Still a way to go!

I had to see the midwife a week or so ago just to get my MAT-B1 form as I am not seeing the midwife for an appointment until I am nearly 26 weeks and my employer requires the MAT-B1 and my maternity leave dates to be submitted before the end of the 25th week. I didn't see my actual midwife, but from phoning to getting the actual certificate was only about three days.

We ordered our pram the other day, gone with the Silver Cross Pioneer. Weren't planning on ordering so soon (23 weeks) but the colour we wanted is being discontinued so it was on sale.

Same really for all the stuff we have purchased, it was all in the sales. Ordinarily, we wouldn't have purchased stuff so soon but it made sense to buy stuff now when it was 50/70% off rather than wait and pay full price nearer the time.

Is anyone else suffering with really really dry hands? No matter how much moisturiser I use, they are so dry and cracked!

Sah1987 · 24/01/2017 08:27

About an hour and 15 mins drive then xx

Jugoo28 · 24/01/2017 08:51

I still have almost 16 weeks of work! I'm taking two weeks of annual leave to finish at 38 so my maternity leave officially starts on my due date but by using my remaining leave and the Easter holidays, I'm having about eight weeks of four day working weeks before leaving.

Ordered the cot, drawers and change table today so just waiting for it all to arrive!

savagehk · 24/01/2017 09:11

red not really (except where my rings have been!) - have you tried something more like vaseline and less like a moisturiser? That might work. Some people also put it on before bed and then put gloves over to let it soak in.
