Hi ladies, been a little quiet on here the last few days! Hope everyone is feeling better :)

I want to have a waterbirth as long as it's possible and I like the birthing centre when I go to visit it :)

Welcome to all the newbies x

TotTickle · 25/01/2017 18:38

My last birth was a pool birth and I loved it. I was lucky that the one pool was available when I went in.
A couple of midwives told me independently that I was a perfect candidate for a home birth next time. Nervous about the idea but would guarantee a pool and will be easier for DS babysitting. Maybe it will be so quick he will stay asleep upstairs ha!

Heyitsholly · 25/01/2017 18:41

Has anyone on here had a water birth after a csection? I would love one.
Last time i was induced by my consultant even tho everything was fine. Pessaries didnt work. I ended up staying on the pre labour ward for 5 days as they couldnt fit me in. I only got taken through for the drip when I threatened to leave. Then the drip was still making slow progress so they cut her out. Im still disappointed in it all now. It ruined my experience so this time i want to do it naturally.
Note to all first timers dont be naive like me and except that you have to do what health care people say. Research your options.

Rant over lol

I desperately want a water birth this time around - my son had to have the sensors on his scalp as wouldn't stay still and i was strapped facing the wall on my left and told not to move Confused legs were crossed in stirrups as i was pushing him out 9cm in and mw told me to hold it...she didn't realise i was that far on as did a handover last minute.

I've moved now so i'm hoping my experience will be a bit calmer this time around and ideally my water birth i so wanted last time and never got. Obv it was more important he was ok and he was getting a bit distressed (cord around neck) but fx this time is smoother.

Shwighty1 · 25/01/2017 19:05

And to those concerned about mess and tidying up there was really nothing to worry about. We used a shower curtain to catch any mess and old towels went in the bin I think. The lounge was back to normal and all tidied by the midwives in minutes!!!

I've had three sections so there will be A LOT of pressure on me to go for an elcs this time. First was classed as an elcs due to needing to get baby out relatively quickly and not being ready for induction (37wks)... second was emcs as had been booked in for an elcs but started labouring (was told pelvis very narrow during first pregnancy)... and the last one I pushed for a VBA2C (in the water) but ended up with an emcs due to position of baby and not progressing past 7cms (after 4.5 days in labour) and baby distressed. I was TOLD (Hmm) that I would definitely need a section if I ever had more children. Then again, this was by a consultant that told me I was stupid to try for a VBA2C (he wasn't my actual consultant, she was really supportive).

Sorry for the essay - even though I have had three sections before I am still torn on trying for a VBA3C. I think dh would threaten to divorce me though! Plus I make big babies (9lb @ 37wks, 10lb @ 39wks & 9lb 7oz @ 40+1). And do have a narrow pelvic arch. Sigh.

Shwighty1 · 25/01/2017 19:06

ksk ds had the cord round his neck too, twice I think, must have been a really long cord!!

Travelgeek · 25/01/2017 19:29

Ooh, that's interesting shwighty as at home I would actually be closer to the hospital than if I was at the stand alone birth centre, should a transfer be needed.

ZylaB · 25/01/2017 20:11

I'll be a cs at 37 weeks this time, was induced at 36weeks last time but it failed and ended up with an emcs and I'm not going through that again. It's too early for induction in my completely untrained opinion, my body wasn't ready for it and my daughter didn't want to come out!

Pinkbottletop · 25/01/2017 20:45

I don't think I could feel comfortable enough to have a home birth because I'm massively OCD and I'd be stressing about my brand new carpets!

Anyone else get cramps at 6 weeks? They're slightly painful but not agonising and are followed with trips to the toilet to empty my bowels (tmi sorry). Feels a lot like what happens when I'm on my period. I always get diarrhoea then too.

puttingourhoodupdown · 25/01/2017 20:52

Eeek all this talk of birth is giving me anxiety already.....I had hoped for a water birth at the local MLU last time but unfortunately it was all a bit of a disaster and I had a lot of intervention. I didn't have a CS in the end as there wasn't any free doctors to arrange it but I think unless I get more confident I'm currently leaning towards asking (strongly) to be considered for a CS....will see how I get on....id love to ask the natural birth I'd hoped for but I don't think my body is made for giving birth Confused

ZylaB · 25/01/2017 20:55

pinkbottle I'm 5 and a half weeks and a bit crampy. Stretching I think!

Kskifred · 25/01/2017 21:25

I get episodes of cramping that can be quite intense, i think it's just stretching. I'm 7 weeks tomo.

TeamLentil · 25/01/2017 21:26

I lost the baby last week. Good luck to you all Flowers

MouseLove · 25/01/2017 21:30

Lentil. I'm so sorry. Please look after yourself. Sending hugs and hands to hold. 😢💐

Londonexhile · 25/01/2017 21:34

Hi everyone, been a bit quiet but just caught up on the new thread, chatty bunch!!

Glad everyone is getting on well, or as well as possible with the nausea! I'm still having cramps too, but a lot of the time, it's been wind Blush!!!

We've got our early private scan booked for tomorrow afternoon, I'll be 7+5. All going well, we'll tell our parents. Am absolutely terrified!!!

Booking in appointment is on Friday, I had to pick up paperwork from the surgery last week so I could fill out the questionnaire beforehand so hopefully the appointment won't be too long. Just had a minor massive, hormonal breakdown about weight after reading the maternity notes. I've never been svelte but my BMI has crept over 30 in the past few weeks so worried what extra tests that will bring while desperately sitting on my hands not eating giant bag of buttons in the fridge!! I'm convinced the extra 2kgs are all boob!!!

So sorry, lentil Flowers

NotMyPenguin · 25/01/2017 22:13

I laboured at home last time, in a birth pool. It was really lovely - hard work, but a lot nicer in a relaxed environment. When my waters broke after 13 hours in labour (right at the end) there was meconium in the waters so we headed in to hospital, where I had a ventouse delivery. I was really happy that I had spent most of my time at home, though.
