Thought I would get there 1st!!!

Zooming in - almost finished housework and feeling less stressed out - poor DH, he came home to a very wound-up mummy when he got home for lunch - after almost driving into a wall on my way back from dropping him off at work (!!!!) and doing lots of cleaning and hoovering, I must say I am feeling better! Still got lots to do though .....

Zoom, Zoom, Zoom ........

ARGH - Can't remember anything anyone said, apart from MrsGV getting the wrong end of the stick ..... LOL!

Hope everyone else is ok!!

EllieKwithaHUGEbump · 27/02/2007 12:13

ok ladies, some advice please .........

would like to take matthew on holiday this year. can get monday-friday trip to butlins, half-board, for me, stephen, matthew and baby, for just £209!!!!!

problem is, it's on April 30th and i'm not due til April 9th so baby could potentially be only a week old.

would i be bonkers?????

geordiemacminx · 27/02/2007 12:13

I think all cats are different, but I know mine hates all things noisy so will certainly be body swerving the baby... I personally think all of this rubbish about cats lying on babies heads is rubbish, and as long as you are sensible then there isnt a need for nets and electric shock mats and all the other stuff that they retail at parents to worry them half to death!!!

Sexonslightlypuffylegs · 27/02/2007 12:17

Hellcat, really sorry to hear you had to give up one of your cats. That must have been heartbreaking.

Our cats were great when Becky was born. When we brought her home in her car seat, we popped her on the sofa and both the cats came in and sniffed her and then left. They never tried to sleep in with her or anything. They have been great with her even now when she picks them up and swings them around!

weeonion · 27/02/2007 12:20

a bit miffed. bought a load of nappies and wraps off a mumsnetter. a bit of money that dont want to lose - especially at the moment. been waiting since middle of the month for them, they were posted last wednesdy and havent arrived. still no sign today. she says i have to pursue royal mail for a refund. what is the crack with that - what would the rest of you do? GMM- you are a bit of a consumer warrior so what do you suggest?

Bramshott · 27/02/2007 12:22

Oh God, I keep coming on here, meaning to write something, and then getting into reading what everyone else has written and forgetting what I was going to say! Keeping up with this is a full-time job!!

Charnbump - glad you're feeling better today.
CD - any pics of the fire engine cake, or did I miss them?!
SOSPL - urggh to cat's mess!

Saw midwife yesterday who seemed supremely unconcerned about the position the baby is in - is this normal for 2nd time round? I guess if it was breech she would have mentioned it - no? Also seemed unconcered that every time we have sex I am wracked by huge Braxton Hicks contractions for hours afterwards - seemed to think this was a good thing! Not when it's 4am and they won't let me get to sleep yet it's not, but give me a couple of weeks and I suspect I'll be actively trying to bring them on!

Not for the squeamish - perineal massage . . . Anyone doing it yet?!? My pregnancy massage cream says for the last 6 weeks, but I can't quite bear to give it a go !!

EllieKwithaHUGEbump · 27/02/2007 12:25

sorry if TMI but we've managed to sort-of include the massage thing into 'activities'

weeonion · 27/02/2007 12:29

bramshott - i am a bit squeamish about it. dp is fine with "giving a hand" tho' i think i would prefer to get to grips myself to start with. i need to get some kind of cream/ oil/ lube for it. recommendations??

Emmymummy · 27/02/2007 12:32

Hiya Bramshott - I was wondering about the massage thing too! Haven't been brave enough to try it yet, although my bump oil is apparently suitable. Never did it last time either, so maybe won't bother...

Hellcat · 27/02/2007 12:32

HAHAHAHAH, I asked dh would he kindly massage perimium after 6 weeks to go, but he looked very sceptical and given rate of success with other 'activities' I think I will be doing myself!

charNbump · 27/02/2007 12:32

weeonion - apparently almond oil is the way to go for that massage x

EllieKwithaHUGEbump · 27/02/2007 12:35

i can't use nut oils so just use my lovely body shop massage oil

mammyjo · 27/02/2007 12:37

I should be doing the perianal massage thing especially as I tore badly last time and would try anything to prevent it happening again. Any idea what oil you are supposed to use? A bit unsure if I can reach very well down there now too! Also, I can remember taking raspberry leaf tabs last time in the later stages. Does anyone know when you can start them? I am 35 weeks already so thinking perhaps I should be taking them too.

Ellie, welcome back and glad you had a good weekend. I would say that if you fancy the holiday then go for it. At least you will have stephen there to help you out if things are tough.

Charn, glad you are ok today. Very nasty nerve pain though. I would probably have panicked assuming I was in labour.

SOSPL, eurghh at the cat poo incident!

Emmy, cant believe that rude person commmented that you must have loads of stretch marks. Some people really have no idea do they! Even if you did have loads its hardly a playground discussion topic is it!

Have sorted out all of ds newborn clothes this morning and have a load in the washing machine. Thought I would be ok with using it all again and I am, but also have an overwhelming urge to go and buy new stuff. Will have to do something about that!

EllieKwithaHUGEbump · 27/02/2007 12:38

raspberry leaf tea is a very late on thing, not sure when but not as early as 35 weeks x

Sexonslightlypuffylegs · 27/02/2007 12:50

Shan't be touching my perineum I have to say - nor will dh!

I can't remember when it is safe to start taking the capsules or drinking the tea - perhaps worth phoning a health food shop and see what it says on the back of the packet?

I think I took pills last time as opposed to drinking the tea.

mammyjo · 27/02/2007 12:52

I took the tabs too, couldnt stomach the tea. Will ring my local health shop and ask them for advice I think.

EllieKwithaHUGEbump · 27/02/2007 12:55

i took the pills, just looked on the label on holland and barrett website, label doesn't say anything other than ask doctor!

Bramshott · 27/02/2007 12:58

I have a big tub of Neals Yard "Mothers Balm" which I have been slapping on my bump every night, and which says "can also be used to promote suppleness of the perineum during the last 6 weeks". I've read that you can also use olive oil, or I guess any bland-ish massage oil. I should just do it shouldn't I - anything that induces stretchyness and suppleness down there has got to be good! Should have guessed Ellie would already be incorporating it into her foreplay

Mammyjo - I think they say Raspberry Leaf Tea from 36 weeks.

Eddas · 27/02/2007 12:58

Far too much to catch up on as usual

I was asked yesterday, by a mum at dd's preschool, how long i had left, replied 5 weeks and she said you're only just ahead of me. Couldn't believe it her bump was tiny compared to my f'in huge one I actually thought she was 4/5 monthsand she has 7 weeks to go!

Didn't say anything though as bump size discussions don't always go down well!!!

At work today, last day tomorrow, i cannot wait, no more having to get dressed tues-thurs(dd at pre school mon & fri so ought to then!!!), bliss

EllieKwithaHUGEbump · 27/02/2007 13:01

bramshott
no idea what you mean

Sexonslightlypuffylegs · 27/02/2007 13:03

Is it time for a new thread yet? There are nearly 500 posts on here again already.

Ellie, you are a bit of a superstar on that front - grovel grovel!

Bramshott · 27/02/2007 13:06

I got the 36 weeks off netdoctor.co.uk

Must eat something or may have to start munching my desk!!
