Hi all - looks like I'm first here! I'm pregnant with #1, due 2 September. Got my BFP a couple of days ago and already it feels like a rollercoaster ride - I'm utterly thrilled, anxious about the possibility of a loss and terrified at the thought of the birth! But hey, bring it on! Smile

Yes September is the most popular month to give birth and the 26th September is the most popular day of all!

So we were all busy making our own xmas pressies! Grin

For me its the first time. Just been to tell doctor the news and got first midwife appontment sorted. Is it appropriate for DH to come along to this first one? He will be joining me for scans of course! What are you all doing?

TriJo · 17/01/2017 09:15

With DS I brought hubby to the scans - private early one, 12 week and 20 week. He came to two midwife appointments late on because he had questions that he wanted to ask and the midwife seemed like a good person to ask, also he wanted to hear the heartbeat on the Doppler.

I've got a GP appointment on Friday - I'm 99% sure I'm going to go to the same hospital where I had DS (we have a choice of 3) and I'm hoping to use the birth centre again.

In a brutal reminder of what's to come commute-wise, I saw about 5 men practically charge into a pregnant woman to pile onto a packed train at Finsbury Park this morning and one of them was trying to then rest his elbow on my boob. I am not looking forward to looking like Homer Simpson in a muumuu in 30c heat at the height of the summer commuting...

Whenwillwe3meetagain · 17/01/2017 09:16

Ha yes to the Xmas pressies!

With DS my DH just came to the scans not the midwife appointments. We had some extra scans as my son has a foot issue spotted at 20 weeks but it was nice to get some extra time to check how he was doing.

PerpetualStudent · 17/01/2017 10:24

My DP just came to the scans. I think it varies from area to area but my booking in appoinent for DS was looong, with a lot of dull Q about my family medical history & some awkward ones about domestic violence etc that I guess they would have shunted DP out of the room for Hmm

Can I ask what, if anything people are doing exercise wise at the moment? I do HIIT workouts from youtube, found one 1st trimester one, but figuring I'll get bored of that pretty quick. I also cycle to work, last time I got nervy and cut that out pretty quick, but wondering if I could keep going with it this time (until I get whale-sized anyway...)

batfish · 17/01/2017 10:27

Hi all, I think I'm pregnant! When I say I think I am....4 pregnancy tests say so. But I only took a test because I had bought a few ready for when we started TTC (we have just not been using contraception for a couple of months but not making any efforts) and they arrived so I thought hey I'll have a go because it's fun right! And got the shock of my life.

Not totally sure of dates as my periods have been a bit random since they came back after having my first child but definitely September.

I don't think I will be able to believe it and get too involved before I have seen the doc (11th Feb but I'm trying to go sooner - I live in UAE and they do early scans) but needed to talk about it!

TriJo · 17/01/2017 10:43

PerpetualStudent I was training for the London Marathon! Guess that's out the window now, but I'm still aiming for Reading half in March. I did an Olympic distance triathlon in my first trimester with my son so no stranger to being out for a while.

puttingourhoodupdown · 17/01/2017 10:54

Funny you should say that whenwill as my due date is the 26th!

Made an appt with the Gp for next Tuesday and then she can get me into the midwife booking in cycle.

I can't see who asked as I'm on the app but my DH didn't come to any appts apart from scans as he works away a lot and to be perfectly honest he would have been bored to tears. One of my friend's DHs went with her to all appts though so I think it's whatever works for you!

puttingourhoodupdown · 17/01/2017 10:59

perpetual I think the general advice is that it's ok to carry on with anything you normally do. I run a lot but I found last time that I just couldn't get my head into in and kept having an irrational fear of shaking the baby loose Blush and then I was absolutely floored by the tiredness around week 9 so then I became a bit of a lazy sod!! This time I will see how I feel and go with the flow

MrsLeBear · 17/01/2017 11:15

Hello ladies, may I join the group? I had my BFP two days ago. I'm exactly 4 weeks + 0 today and praying for it to stick (I'm 38 and this will be our first). We're very, very happy, of course (especially since we've been trying since August and I was beginning to think we'd need invasive fertility treatment) but at the same time I'm so worried.. it seems like forever until we get to 12 weeks and it's relatively safe.

batfish · 17/01/2017 11:17

puttingourhoodupdown it's funny that you say about shaking the baby loose - I was convinced the first time that if strained too much on the loo then it would become dislodged and fall out Blush

batfish · 17/01/2017 11:25

Congrats MrsLeBear! Keeping everything crossed for you.

I am still in shock and denial about this BFP but with my first baby I was TERRIFIED and utterly convinced something would go wrong. I am lucky enough to never have experienced mc but my best friend had 3 and I think I had her anxiety.

But what I would say is that as impossible as it may be - try to enjoy this time. You cannot do anything to change the outcome and it is much nicer if you can try to relax. I panicked all day every day until around 4 months (and still a bit after that) and later on I was really annoyed with myself that I hadn't allowed myself or my husband to get excited. Then by the time I was able to relax it was almost old news.

This is not a criticism as I know exactly how you feel and I was the very same but you will never again have the special time of your first pregnancy and I'm gutted I didn't let myself or anyone around me enjoy it.

oliversmummy26 · 17/01/2017 11:31

Wow, loads of BFPs yesterday, congtratulations and welcome to all the newbies, lovely news! Flowers

7 weeks today here and time seems to be at a standstill, my booking in is next wednesday and I just want to get that appointment out the way - for those asking about bringing partners along, you can absolutely, but it's deathly boring, all it is is paperwork and telling you what you can and can't do. I will be bringing my DH to scans and maybe a mw appointment later on when there are questions about delivery etc. to ask, I will have a consultant appointment at about 20 weeks too as I had an emergency section with my DS, so DH will come to that I guess..

I am desperate to get to my 12 week scan. Still feeling fairly positive about this pregnancy after my mmc in December. It feels good and I feel very pregnant. Symptoms are a lot stronger than last time and I am suffering from all day long nausea at the moment. Not been sick yet, but just feel awful. I got some sea sickness bands today which seem to be helping a little, so hopefully they'll see me through..

Gingerbreadmam · 17/01/2017 11:31

popcorn i've had bleeding too. Started saturday afternoon and seems to have stopped today fingers crossed. Nothint major, not even filled a panty liner but definitely a mix of colours.

Ive had an mmc and stillbirth, no luve children. Epau wont see me till 8 wks so i am also in the 'wait and see' camp. Hope you're ok. It's very stressful i know!

oliversmummy26 · 17/01/2017 11:32

Oh, also am massive already. Bloated and full of wind and have had to resort to a hairband on my jeans to keep them done up...can't wait to get in maternity gear and be comfy! Trying to hide it until 12+ weeks will be very difficult!

MrsLeBear · 17/01/2017 12:11

Batfish - thank you so much for your kind words and for a bit of perspective!

I haven't thought about it that way but you are absolutely right - regardless of the outcome, this is my first ever pregnancy (with my wonderful, still-new husband of a few months) and nothing ever will feel like that again.. I'll try to push back the fear and dark thoughts and focus on how it feels right now, at this moment :)

Kskifred · 17/01/2017 12:44

Haha Shwighty I'm glad I'm not the only one!

Fluffywallow · 17/01/2017 13:13

Hi ladies please may I join? I've been lurking since the beginning but hadn't worked up the courage to actually participate!

I'm 6+4, due something like the 8th or 9th September, conceived first cycle which took me by surprise and found out day after Boxing Day. Feels like I've known forever! Got a private scan booked next Thursday - nervous is an understatement Confused.

Feeling pretty awful with sickness and tiredness so have been off work a couple of days, told them super early due so at least they understand.

My DD is 2 and will be so excited to have a sibling. Just hate the first trimester anxiety, it's definitely the worst of the trimesters!

Hope everyone is ok.

littlepooch · 17/01/2017 13:20

Hello all

I've been very quiet as first trimester anxiety has got the better of me. That and the nausea - oh my god it'd awful, I'd forgotten how bad it is!

Anyway because of MC history I had a reassurance scan at EPU a today. Saw a little teeny blob, a heartbeat and measuring 6+6 so fits in with east I thought. I'm so relieved. Today I am pregnant and hopefully I will continue to be. I am still going to have a private scan in a couple of weeks to break up the wait until 12 weeks. I also got my 12 week scan date and booking in - booking in is next week!

Hope everyone is ok and plodding on through the the first trimester ickness. I'm off to catch up on what I've missed xx

Kskifred · 17/01/2017 13:23

Really pleased all is well pooch i hope you can breath for a little while.

Whenwillwe3meetagain · 17/01/2017 13:24

Ginger this must be an especially worrying time for you. FlowersFlowersFlowers

Kskifred · 17/01/2017 13:37

Ginger surely if you tell them you've experienced fresh bleeding they will scan you? Could you consider a private scan?

littlepooch · 17/01/2017 13:42

Will your EPU really not see you until 8 weeks ginger? Mine saw me today as I have a history of MC and am very anxious and have had bad cramping. Surely if you ve been bleeding they would see you? Or your GP could refer you?

Gingerbreadmam · 17/01/2017 13:45

Nope, no scans. Even with my history. In all fairness there's not a lot of point. Im officially 6+3 but think i may be a little bit behind that.

The scan would more than likely show nothing therefore i would be scheduled for s rescan in 2 weeks and would be no better off really.

They did book me in for an 8 week scan which is a week on monday so it's just a waiting game until then. If the bleeding has stopped there's a little hope there i guess.

Almondbiscotti · 17/01/2017 13:45

Im taking Pregnacare + even though it costs a bomb (£18 a box for one month). I have hidden decaf tea bags in my box at work.

Despite what i said yesterday, this morning i woke up with a mega headache which didnt shift for ages even with paracetomal. I got really grumpy about how its us women that have to go through the pain and its not even the worst of it! I then felt nausea and now have some ritz at my desk which i have managed to have with a greek salad. Nom nom nom.

So weird not knowing how you are going to feel. I am such a newbie!!!
