Kits same here. BMI of 33 at booking in appointment. I'm at 12+3 and I haven't put any weight on since before the bfp. I think that is partly to do nausea with loss of appetite, no wine and drinking only water (ice cold) as I can't stomach any other drink. We are expected to put on no more than 5kg - 9kg. Now that I am going into 2nd trimester, maybe the appetite will come back and the weight gain starts.

Seahawk I'm so so pleased for you, I've been looking out for your update!! What brilliant news x

Seahawk80 · 20/12/2016 18:04

Thanks everyone! For what it's worth I wouldn't have the NHS screening again -
I think being over 35 skews the odds too much. I'd find the money to go straight for the harmony test.

crombanna · 20/12/2016 18:06

Seahawk, amazing! I had my scan today very nervous but thankfully all well. Moved forward a few days 11+1 now. All looked perfect (apparently) and the baby was wriggling and wriggling and wriggling. So cute. I keep looking at the pictures. Doesn't feel real still though!! I think I'll just be one of those people who doesn't really "get it" until they are in my arms.

Felt rotten today again for those who had bad news. It doesn't seem fair or logical.

DamsonGinIsMyThing · 20/12/2016 18:49

Ah seahawk that's great news for you, I'm really happy for you! Can understand why you'd plump for the harmony test in future.
My scan went great, baby was wiggling about, I'm 11w4d and due 7/7/17, had my bloods taken for Edwards and Patau screening, opted out of downs screening.

Seahawk80 · 20/12/2016 18:54

Great news Damson! I came back as 1/14 for Edwards and Patau too so don't worry too much if the odds aren't too good when they come back. They panicked me much more than the 1/12 for downs.

I have another scan on thurs which will be nice to just enjoy.

whyistherumgone · 20/12/2016 18:54

Congrats seahawk amazing news!!! I kept popping back looking for your update. Hope you can relax now and have a lovely Christmas :)

Knittinggurl · 20/12/2016 18:56

Congratulations Seahawk and damson - what wonderful news for you both!

I am having the NHS screening on Friday and am 38 - eek......

Knittinggurl · 20/12/2016 18:59

Also Seahawk do you mind me asking whether you had your CVS through the NHS or privately?

CatRash · 20/12/2016 19:02

Great news Seahawk!!!

mummycaitlin · 20/12/2016 19:17

kits I was a 16/18 with DS1 and I didn't have a proper bump until about 18 weeks and actually lost 1.5 stone in total. I think my food intake went into making the baby rather than fat!

notyet you're my BMI twin ha ha, have they referred you to see the specialist midwife due to being bmi over 30? I had mine last week and it was the biggest waste of time ever, she even bought out the 'healthy food plate' diagram, sigh.

Notyetthere · 20/12/2016 19:38

Mummy nope I have been lucky they have not referred me to the fat doctor doctor. I hope I don't go through that.

Great news, Seahawk!

mummycaitlin · 20/12/2016 19:42

I refer to her as 'fatty midwife' lol. She literally went through a pack that was dodgy PowerPoint slides about portion control, reading food labels, how much water to drink, how many portions of fruit and veg... yawn. It annoyed me that she went through everything without actually asking me the types of food I eat already on a typical day. I'm a fatty cos I don't exercise not cos I eat badly lol, I eat well under the 2000kcal they recommend now and lost a stone before I got my bfp. She was like 'so did you put on too much weight with your first pregnancy then?' And my reply was 'nope, I lost 1.5 stone' ha ha

Seahawk80 · 20/12/2016 19:43

Hi knitting I don't mind at all. I had mine on the NHS at kings. They offered it straight away. I had to wait about 4 hours but I couldn't face coming back in. The thought of it was much worse than the actual procedure.

Hopefully your results will be much better than mine, it was a combo of blood results, NT measurement (2.3) and age.

Feel free to ask me if you have any questions.

Seahawk80 · 20/12/2016 19:44

And thanks everyone!

thumbsupforthesixbillion · 20/12/2016 20:13

Not sure if it's my phone or mumsnet but for some reason mobile view isn't working so I'm struggling to keep up with posts!

Great news Seahawk glad you finally got your results back with such positive news.

I found out today that I'm high risk not just because of my bmi but also because of previous mental health problems. Funny how that was left out of all my appointments up to now and I've been made to feel like I should be ashamed because of my weight. I've also been told I'm excluded from the midwife led delivery suites which is fine but they could chose less damning language when telling you this stuff!

mummycaitlin · 20/12/2016 20:34

thumbsup that's such a shame, did they actually use the word excluded?! So does that mean you'll be consultant led? Is that purely on your previous MH and current weight? To me that doesn't seem enough to justify not being able to chose to give birth at your midwife led unit, can you challenge if that's something you feel passionate about choosing?

Lallypopstick · 20/12/2016 20:38

Good news Seahawk - it's lovely when we have good things happening on here.

I have a question - I had routine bloods / urine sample taken at my booking appointment with the midwife. My 12 week scan (booked for 11+6) is next Friday. Do I have to ring to get results from my GP (where the midwife clinic was)? Having paranoia that something bad will have happened since my early scan (especially as I've not felt any symptoms since getting this cold / flu thing). Any advice on whether I need to ring up or not is appreciated, as I don't know if they'll tell me at the scan.

mummycaitlin · 20/12/2016 20:43

lally the gp would only normally ring you if there was an issue. But if you like ring up in the morning and they should be bale to tell you but I expect they've been fine. You wouldn't get told anything at the scan as it would just be the sonographer and they wouldn't have access to the blood test data from the gp I wouldn't imagine.

thumbsupforthesixbillion · 20/12/2016 20:49

Mummy that's exactly the wording they used! Whilst I was sat in said delivery suite because my appointment got moved around. I had a couple of snarky comments about exercising too, before my bfp I was cycling daily, now I'm swimming and walking and am quite fit and well generally so I was a bit narked all round really.

I'm moving house in January so I won't be close to a solely midwife led suite so I think I will leave it, but if they push for consultant led care in the new hospital without me having any complications I will raise it as an issue though, I'll just have to see how it goes.

Lally I got my blood test results at my 12 week scan, where I live they tend to call you if they see a problem immediately so if you haven't heard anything you should be okay. No harm in giving the surgery a call if it puts your mind at rest though.

Twixes · 20/12/2016 20:56

Great news seahawk, you must be delighted. You can rest up now for Christmas

Seahawk80 · 20/12/2016 21:28

Lally I just got my bloods from the midwife in the post. They get in touch by phone if there's a problem

mummycaitlin · 20/12/2016 21:52

Argh confusing myself (easily done!), I forgot that I got my bloods done at the GP as midwife couldn't get any so might be different who you contact to hear results, but no news is good news!
