Hi Nurse, I'm in Tyrone! Whereabouts are you? Nice to know there's someone else over here!

Ha ha Esmes that cartoon sums up my life pretty perfectly at the minute!

Hope all's OK Raspberry- just as an anecdote, the absolute worst pain I had during any of my pregnancies so far was due to constipation with DD1. They scanned me as they thought it was appendicitis at first Blush

MissMooMoo · 14/11/2016 12:14

raspberry hoping it is just wind.
I would probably ring the midwives too if you are concerned.

Streaky17 · 14/11/2016 12:21

Hope everything is ok raspberry.

I'm rather awkwardly telling people at work. The awkwardness is my personal style.

I phoned a midwife (not the one I had before -yay) and she is sorting me out more folic acid. Hopefully she put a note about twins in my file so it's not a shock in the next appt.

I had the most excruciating pain all along the bottom of my bump when I sneezed in bed this morning. I had this earlier on but not as bad and I learned to make sure I was sitting but oh my goodness this was awful. Has anyone else had this?

Streaky yes that's happened a lot to me. In fact the first time it happened was the first inkling I had that I might be pregnant. I sneeze regularly for some reason and I think its position-dependent. Just feels tight for a while but then back to normal.

I hope everything is ok in the scan tomorrow raspberry it's good it's tomorrow so it can put your kind at ease. Also good luck to all those with scans coming up.

Northernexile · 14/11/2016 13:21

nervous I think basically yes. It's obviously thought that there's no point doing at as there is no option to terminate. You can pay to have the Harmony done privately, but obviously if there was a problem you would have to travel to England and pay privately for a termination (although NI is in the UK you can't access an NHS termination in England) if that is what you wanted to do. It's pretty brutal, and if you are on a low income probably impossible.

There has been a lot of coverage on the news here about this in the last couple of years. I imagine any major problems would be picked up at 20 weeks but I'm not certain about that. I did toy with the idea of getting the Harmony done as I'm 35, but I'm just going to cross my fingers I think as I've no idea what I would do if I got bad news anyway.

Adventuregame · 14/11/2016 13:38

Streaky I coughed in bed last night, was lying stretched out on back and got stabbing pain over my ovary. It's the side that I have the CL cyst on but I was hoping that would have gone by now as it was only 21mm at the 12 week scan. Harmony a week tomorrow so hoping they can remeasure if cyst still there to confirm it's shrinking as expected.

Hello everyone

Gosh I've not been on here for a while and the number of threads has doubled! We are a friendly chatty lot which is fab 😊

Raspberry, really hope you're feeling better now? I also have cramping twinges but was told.by the midwife its just the baby growing so hopefully its nothing.

I work down the road from victoria so would love to meet those who are free if its possible? X

newbieho · 14/11/2016 13:48

Is anyone suffering from a heartburn? I would appreciate any advice - sipping water is not helping at all.

RasperryInAMelon · 14/11/2016 16:50

Wow! You guys are great, it's been a busy day here today!

So... got to work, managed to go to the bathroom... been fine since Blush

Didn't get round to calling the midwife due to being so busy at work. But all has been fine today other than the odd twinge here or there.

This baby is causing me grief no end already and I'm such a wimp! I was almost in tears this morning with the pain - WTF am I going to be like when contractions kick in!!!!!

Adventure totally with you on the cold front! I'm sat in my office making everyone sweat with the heating on 30 wearing a dress, tights, cardigan and a blazer and still shivering!

MrsJW are they trousers or jeans? I've struggled to find something smart I can wear for work.

Streaky people I work with are slowly finding out. Our Head Chef and I were chatting earlier about wine and I mentioned about how I could murder a glass when I get home - when I said I couldn't we had the awkward 'oh I thought you'd just put on weight' conversation... cheeky sod!

Jingles feel free to join us next Thursday! Newbie have we settled on where to meet yet?

Who else has a scan tomorrow? Mines at 10am! Feeling anxious but nervous!

Barnes79 · 14/11/2016 16:52

I've got a bit of a random question. I'd heard lots before being pregnant about weird and wonderful cravings, but I'm having the opposite. I never crave or fancy anything in particular to eat! Before I was pregnant I'd crave crisps, chocolate, Chinese, berries etc but now nada! Anyone else experienced this?

beachsands · 14/11/2016 16:58

Adventure I am freezing all the time. Keep a blanket by the sofa at all times! I woke with an awful pain Sunday morning about 4am. Was worried but it was wind Blush. I'm feeling flutters as I type. I'm sitting for the first time today and it's lovely!

MissMooMoo · 14/11/2016 17:08

raspberry glad you are feeling better.
I have a lot of stretching pains sometimes too and lower back pain which still scares me even though I am nearly 14 weeks now.

barnes I am craving fruit! I eat tons of it everyday. I have mostly gone off eggs and cheese, although occasionally eat both, I used to eat way too much cheese! I am disgusted by the thought of chicken,it makes me gag.

MrsJ totally outing myself here if anyone knows me IRL, I am in Newham, technically NE London I think.

Like everyone else I get a pain when I sneeze,my sister warned me that would happen, I always feel bad for baby, must feel like an earthquake in there.

MrsJW15 · 14/11/2016 17:27

Raspberry they are just black trousers. They are these www.dorothyperkins.com/en/dpuk/product/clothing-203535/maternity-clothing-203572/maternity-black-straight-leg-trousers-4762427?bi=0&ps=20 and they have something similar in stripes. Two words of warning - they are exactly the right length for me (and I'm tiny!) and they have two stretchy side panels so I'm not quite sure how long they will last. But they are cheap and look smart enough for work! I've also got an ASOS pencil skirt.

MissMooMoo I live in Hackney but work in Canary Wharf. So not too far away!

I am also cold all the time - but that's really common for me. Didn't realise it could be pregnancy related.

Sonnet18 · 14/11/2016 17:34

raspberry brace yourself for more pains! They're fairly common throughout! I've had dull period pain for a few days plus the horrible sharp twingy pain when I move quickly...unless there's bleeding, you're ok.

Good luck for your scan tomorrow.

I'm still waiting for my Down syndrome screening results- hoping no news is good news!

Shoney85 · 14/11/2016 18:17

I've had cramps every day since finding out I was pregnant in week five. Never really bad, just uncomfortable sometimes. Same as you'd sometimes blow my nose or sneeze and get a sharp pain.

Got our screening letter today and all is well. 1 in about 80000

I'm the opposite, I'm roasting all the time. I was alway cold before I was pregnant sitting with loads of layers and heating full blast but totally changed

Nurse15 · 14/11/2016 18:18

Northernexile i'm ballyclare :) are you booked in to antrim hospital?

TheTantrumCometh · 14/11/2016 18:34

Thanks for the new thread. I'm freezing all the time, too. I was roasting in my previous pregnancies so I'm finding it hard to adjust. Plus none of my clothes fit me. Or if they do, they don't look right

Flingmoo · 14/11/2016 19:14

Yay for new thread. 12 week scan day tomorrow, finally! Haven't had any private/early scans or anything so this is my first chance to see any sign of life, I can't wait!

lucieloos · 14/11/2016 19:15

12 week scan for me tomorrow as well! I'm feeling nervous even though I've had 3 scans already and the harmony test!

Flingmoo · 14/11/2016 19:23

Wow that's a lot of scans!

Am I the only one who has never heard of the Harmony test? Blush It's a Down's syndrome test? Not available on NHS I assume? Are the NHS tests not reliable enough? I don't know anything about this.

FoxMulder · 14/11/2016 19:28

Good luck everyone with scans tomorrow!

Adventuregame · 14/11/2016 19:29

www.fetalmedicine.com/harmony-test

coxsorangepippin · 14/11/2016 19:39

Glad I'm not the only one with sharp twinges, that's reassuring!
mamushka from what I understand the NHS tests flag 90/100 of pregnancies with chromosomal abnormalities, while the Harmony and similar tests flag closer to 98/100. Or something like that. I had a harmony test for reassurance rather than because I was high risk on the NHS ones.
