Went for my 16 week today, was called in before I'd even sat down to wait. And surprisingly she used a dopplar, but baby was not behaving. All of a sudden a huge thud came through the mic, we were both laughing (probably didn't help), and then she got it! For all of 5 seconds and then baby moved once again. Just bizarre that I can't feel any of that yet.

1004Rise · 30/11/2016 16:38

Had my 16 week appointment today, she didn't try for the heartbeat, just had a feel around my bump and did no and urine check. As expected very much an anticlimax. Smile

Count down to 20 week scan now.... don't go back to the midwife til 24 weeks.

Oh and I'm booked in for my whooping cough vaccination... I see the midwife in the same building as the gp surgery so just booked it while I was there.

1004Rise · 30/11/2016 16:38

*bp! Stupid phone

growcookeat · 30/11/2016 19:07

Definitely still waiting for the 'glowing!'

However, my positives -
People knowing that I'm pregnant and talking to me about it rather than just assuming I'm fat! Although the children in my class haven't guessed yet - it's so obvious to all the adults!
Feeling baby's movements! Most nights when I get into bed I can feel tumbling and turning in there. Definitely a big solid kick at the front last night which DH felt too! Didn't expect to feel anything on the outside yet.

Rabbitykins55 · 30/11/2016 19:19

What does it feel like when the baby moves? This is my first so I have no idea what to expect!

teainbed · 30/11/2016 19:31

It starts as a fluttery feeling, like bubbles or wind and as the weeks go on it becomes stronger jabs and kicks.

Rabbitykins55 · 30/11/2016 19:54

Thanks Tea I felt something odd but I don't think it was that.

Badgerbird · 30/11/2016 20:30

Eeeeeek!! I'm so excited to feel baby move I can't wait!!!

nelly they booked mine when I had the 12 week scan, I assumed that was standard.
Mine is the 30th dec and I will be 20+2.

1004Rise · 30/11/2016 20:57

Midwife asked me today if I'd felt anything and I said no but I didn't know what it was supposed to feel like either. She said it'll feel a bit like butterflies but you'll question yourself if it's really anything until you feel it the second time.... I can deal without the glowing part once I feel baby move GrinGrinGrin

I thought I felt something a couple of nights ago - like bubbles. But I couldn't be sure! I'm looking forward to feeling movement properly.

growcookeat · 30/11/2016 22:18

Yes started like bubbles last week. I'm 17+4 today. This week when I lie down in bed have felt small pings on the inside, kind of like when you get a muscle twitch. Last night baby definitely pushed up on the front of my tummy though - we could both feel it! I was playing music at the time so don't know if it was anything to do with that? Was so nice as I was unsure if it was all gas and bloating! Blush

savagehk · 30/11/2016 22:46

With my first the first thing i felt was a very peculiar pop sensation, only the one though. After that the flutters started. This time I've had flutters from very early on, to the extent I thought it might be twins fighting for space! The strange thing is most of the fluttery moves this time are very low down near my bikini line, but something is also nestling under the ribs on my right hand side. I asked at the 12w scan if anything was there and she said no, so perhaps that's just my bump expanding out under my ribs, but it feels like more than that

lullaby23 · 01/12/2016 01:59

My first movements with DS felt like twitches too.

Also joining in the pity party, feel like I'm coming down with a cold and constant itchy throat is driving me mad. DS is teething and woke up howling at 4am and I couldn't get back to sleep for ages so feeling exhausted now.

My second Panorama test failed so now even more worried that it's a bad sign and I've been having nightmares. If I hadn't taken the test I wouldn't be worried! I had another blood taken for a belated combined test, scan was done at the right time but I'm over 14 weeks now so not sure if the bloods will be accurate. Any one know?

Adventuregame · 01/12/2016 06:37

lullaby could you have Harmony done ?

savagehk · 01/12/2016 07:39

Lullaby not sure which one i had, but i had downs screening with just blood not with the nuchal measurement as they dated me 14+5 at scan. (It's the nhs one here so no names given). They couldn't do the Edwards/patau one though.

lullaby23 · 01/12/2016 08:35

adventure yes, I asked them to take blood for that too assuming the lab would refund for the Panorama but dr reckons it's likely to fail too! I think it's worth a try, it worked for my 1st pregnancy and I was slightly heavier then. he offered an amnio which I don't want.

Thanks savage I think this is what they have done. The clinic just called to say my risk is 1/1940 for DS so don't know about the Edwards or Patau like you. I will take this as a good sign and calming down!

Jingles80 · 01/12/2016 09:49

Logged on after a few days and you ladies make me laugh. I can definitely relate to the pity party tales and the positives. Also love the boob cartoon! I went to a spa at the weekend and for once in my life I felt equal to my big boobed friends (I've always been the 'fried egg' friend).

Am off work today as big stomach pains last night and hardly slept a wink (was almost howling, am so not made for labourConfused) - was not up for the commute this morning! Think its round ligament pain but waiting for midwife to call back. Is that common?

Ghostonthedancefloor · 01/12/2016 10:03

savage my movements have been very low down too! And I also can't believe how early I've felt them this time, 16 weeks! DD I didn't feel til nearly 23 weeks and ds was 18/19. I really don't think it'll be long until DH can feel them. 17+4 today and absolutely loving every second of this pg Smile

Badgerbird · 01/12/2016 10:03

lullaby how stressful Sad I hope the call had put your mind at rest a bit x

mamushka I absolutely loved the booby cartoon and sent to several mum friends Grin Thanks!

lucieloos · 01/12/2016 10:07

I'm 15w4d today and don't feel very pregnant. My bump seems to have gone down a bit, my nausea has eased off although I'm still really hungry all the time. I have some lower back pain and kind of pulling in my stomach. I feel slightly worried by lack of signs. Does anyone else feel like this? I've had really bad nausea all along so now it's eased off I don't really have a lot to go by.

savagehk · 01/12/2016 10:18

lucie last pregnancy I remember this stretch was the oddest - aside from the bump (and a bit of still being off certain foods / coffee) I had no symptoms. It'll get better once you can feel some movement :) (Or hopefully your mw might let you listen to the heartbeat at your next appt, but as mentioned not all areas do it).
