We've known the sex (girl) for a while due to having the Harmony test. Have a few names that we like, but will see what she looks like when she's here!

Have 20w scan in 3w - looking forward to seeing her again. I'm now 17+3 - no movement felt yet!

teainbed · 29/11/2016 07:13

Ah New Look sell via Amazon! Thought I was going to have to brave the shops. Shock Thanks, three vest tops for £18.

18 week anomaly scan on Thursday, DH is away unfortunately so will be going alone but not finding out the sex and suspect I will get loads of scans later on that he will get to see.

FoxMulder · 29/11/2016 08:52

I had two boy names and one girl name ready for DS. Still took nearly 2 weeks to choose between them. I think this one will have the names we didn't use!

Gurtie28 · 29/11/2016 10:51

Just had our 16wk midwife appt and got to hear the heartbeat beat Smile was so nice!

Baby was moving so much last night my DH could feel little kicks - told the midwife today and she was like "hmmmm I don't think so, it's very early to be feeling kicks" ....then she went to use the doppler and baby kicked her away!!! She was very suprised. Of course my DH is now convinced we are having the next David Beckham......

savagehk · 29/11/2016 11:07

Kicking away here too. I think I could feel it from outside last night - seems like this baby likes evenings to be active. Was the same with my last - best way to get him moving was to sit on the sofa in the evening! None of this sugary or cold drink for him :)

MissMooMoo · 29/11/2016 11:49

I also had my 16 week appt this morning, she didn't listen for the heartbeat though.
I have been feeling some movements but none that DH can feel yet.
As for names we both have very different styles! It will be very hard. I bought a book and DH tells me he doesn't like any names in it, there are 5000 Hmm

savagehk · 29/11/2016 12:13

MissMooMoo you can download the Office for National Statistics' complete list of what babies were called in 2015 here
www.ons.gov.uk/peoplepopulationandcommunity/birthsdeathsandmarriages/livebirths/bulletins/babynamesenglandandwales/2015-08-17/relateddata

(only those with 3 or more babies with the same name are included for data protection).

Streaky17 · 29/11/2016 13:04

No Doppler at my 16 week appt either. She just checked my wee (And I got a new pot for next time) and blood pressure.

The midwife didn't know anything about twins so I'm still a bit lost about the system. My bloods from booking appt were fine.

nervous are you on iron tablets? One of my leaflets suggests I should be but I don't want the side effects if not necessary. So midwife suggested spatone but I feel guilty for not opting for the tablets.

savagehk · 29/11/2016 13:42

I'm supposed to be on iron tablets as anaemic but am taking spatone instead.

Streaky17 · 29/11/2016 14:19

Thanks savage are you taking 2 sachets per day? Do you know if it is working for you?

I'm thinking of taking one sachet per day as a boost for now.

savagehk · 29/11/2016 15:01

It says 2 sachets a day for pregnant women, so that's what I'm doing. Not had a blood test yet but I think it's working (tmi to go into details :) )

I'm having it first thing in the morning in some Orange/Grapefruit juice, not ideal if you still have any nausea but I think I'm mostly past that now.

(BTW Ocado sells it :) I was running out and thought I'd have to go round the chemist's again - there were only two boxes on the shelf last time - but had a timely delivery)

Spatone's supposed to be more easily absorbed and not have the side effects of the tablets. There's less iron in it but because you absorb it easier that's not supposed to matter.

Iron's hard to absorb - that's why they recommend an empty stomach with orange juice (the vitamin C helps). There's also iron in my pregnancy multivitamins but I don't think it's absorbed well enough as those are recommended to be taken after food...

Nervous do you still need to take that level of folic acid past 12 weeks?

RasperryInAMelon · 29/11/2016 17:38

Anyone else suffering with crazy bad nasal congestion? I thought it was just a cold, but I've had this for 3 weeks now and am suffering with a really itchy mouth too. Going to try and wait it out till I see the Midwife on Monday. Think it could be Rhinitis Sad

Brightsmoke · 29/11/2016 17:54

So after my last question re doctor, I got a phone call from the midwife today, instant panic stations! But I've been selected (probably means 20 other people before me said no) to be the case study for a student midwife that sat in on my 16 week appointment. So it means she will attend all my midwife appointments and try to be at the birth. The doctors appointment I was initially told I had is just routine round here, but has now been changed to a midwife appointment. So I'm very excited to have a familiar face other than DH at the birth (fingers crossed!!)

On another note, I've been suffering with heart burn today, and the constant need to pee has started! Oh the joys of pregnancy 🙈

Barnes79 · 29/11/2016 17:54

Have just got home and it's straight to bed for me. I've been feeling lousy all day - like I'm about to come down with the flu or something. A colleague at work has felt the same too so I'm guessing we caught something from a patient at some point (I work in the community as a physio).Hopefully sleep will help - oh wait, I can't get much sleep cos of back pain. Oh well...Confused

Feeling a tad sorry for myself. Blush

Hope everyone else's day was a bit better...

Sonnet18 · 29/11/2016 18:35

Raspberry I've had a cold type thing for weeks now. It's not come to much but it's enough to irritate me and I feel quite blocked up and congested. Unsure if it's because I'm just back to work from mat leave and exposed to more germs or if it's a rubbish pregnancy symptom! Hope you feel better soon !

Flingmoo · 29/11/2016 18:40

Came here to join in with the moaning! I've got a cold/cough that's lasted about 2 months now, and so has the constant nausea. Super tired but can't really go to bed before my toddler does!

PeachIcedT · 29/11/2016 19:04

I'm very sniffly which has lasted quite a while now, but I can't tell if it's just something that I would have gotten even if not pregnant. Should invest in some balm tissues though as I've a sore nose already. Hope they clear up for everyone soon.

Streaky17 · 29/11/2016 19:18

Thanks nervous
I just had my 16week scan. Saw their little feet almost kicking each other, all measurements OK.
It was with a doctor, she said I need the iron tablets (boo) and aspirin as well as the folic acid. She was dismissive of spatone tbh but did say I could try a variety of iron tablets if they are yucky.

Sorry to hear people are unwell, hope your colds improve. Xx

EsmesBees · 29/11/2016 19:31

That sounds a bit like call the midwife bright. Will be nice to have the continuity of care.

Sorry to hear you feel rubbish barnes and others. On my second evil cold in three weeks. Can't even blame the toddler for this one. I hate not being about to take anything/hide in bed til it goes away. Much moaning going on in this house right now...

Badgerbird · 29/11/2016 19:38

barnes I'll join you.... feeling totally crap, been laid up all day apart from dr appointment to check if uti or what. Think I'm just ill so no work tomoz either :( no work = no pay which sucks, especially before Crimbo. And yep sleep is a joke!

raspberry would those nose strips (used for snoring but lots of preggos use them) help at all?

Here's to us all feeling better very soon and super glowy for Crimbo!!

MissMooMoo · 29/11/2016 19:45

Im also all stuffed up/itchy throat and also really itchy and runny eyes, its just like hayfever!

Anyone else having round ligament pain? I mentioned it to the midwife today and she said thats what it is and is usually on the right hand lower side of the pelvis, exactly where mine is! I also have a scar from having my appendix out and she said sometimes the scar tissue gets inflammed, oh joy!
