Nelly I've felt movement for some time, also second pregnancy and first time placenta was at the front. Having a party in there as i type!

Peach here they don't do the heartbeat, i think it's because it's not always possible to find easily this early and it probably caused more stress if they tried unsuccessfully!

Sonnet18 · 28/11/2016 05:53

Think it depends on your area and how nice your midwife is! I was really disappointed in my first pregnancy! I was in and out in under five mins...I don't know what else I expected really but the midwife appointments are important to us so I think I would've liked a little bit more time with her!
You could always ask nelly if they don't offer it to you? No harm!

Brightsmoke · 28/11/2016 06:13

They listened to baby's heart beat at my 16 week appointment, so they might do for you :)

I've been told I need to have a doctors appointment for the next one instead of midwifes, does anyone know why this might be? I have my next midwifes booked in for Valentine's Day, so 28 weeks. Is the next one (doctors for me) meant to be at 24 weeks? I've completely forgotten what the midwife said, ooops!

RasperryInAMelon · 28/11/2016 06:21

Bright my next midwife appt is at 16 weeks

Rabbitykins55 · 28/11/2016 06:25

Bright my booking in appointment was with a midwife but I was told my 16 week would be a with a doctor so I assume your next one will be with the doctor not midwife, was it booked after your 16 week appointment? I think the 25 or 28 week one depends on if it's your first pregnancy or not. I have one at both because it's my first.

It might say in your notes why it's been changed to consultant care. Try not to worry though. Mine was because of something a long time ago and it's been moved back to midwife led care.

Sonnet18 · 28/11/2016 06:51

Yep, they miss the 24 week one of its your second baby. Quite a long wait, in my opinion!! Think I'll be booking a private scan in that time.

MrsJW15 · 28/11/2016 09:44

My 16 week appointment is Wednesday, hoping that we'll get to hear the heartbeat! Not long to go now. I'm planning to use it as an excuse to work from home for the day, finding stuff for work is quite hard going.

Both mum and MIL have offered the cots that hubby and I slept in - to keep in their homes not ours (I want a snuzpod for ours). I know we'll need new mattresses but otherwise should that all be ok? MIL's also offered a moses basket and a travel cot, but I want to see what sort of condition they are in...

I heard heartbeat at my 16 appt last week so I think it depends on the mw. Was a 20 minute slot so she didn't have to rush through things. Scan at 20 weeks then My next mw appt is 24 weeks as it's my first. Then pretty much every 3 weeks after that by the looks of things. They gave me a schedule in my notes so might be worth checking for one if you're not sure?

mrsjw I think that's really sweet that they still have the cots and your baby will get to use them :)

I've got a midwife appointment today but I know she's snuck me in 2 as she's away when I'm 16 weeks so doing one before and one after.

I think my preggo Yoga teacher said it well when she said it's a bit abstract at this stage as you can't feel anything yet. Yep! Abstract is right!! Although I can def see something!!!

savage that's so exciting that you can feel movement SmileGrin I can't wait!!

Badgerbird · 28/11/2016 11:27

bright daren't ask why your week was so hellish bit hope this week is better!! FlowersChocolate

FoxMulder · 28/11/2016 11:58

The other thing to watch out for with second hand car seats is the expiry date. They only last about 5 years but it varies. Date is marked on the bottom

MissMooMoo · 28/11/2016 12:04

My friend is going to sell me her pebble infant carrier, she used it for 7 months and it was brand new last dec.
Not been in any crashes and she takes very good care of things so I know its safe.
I asked her how much she wanted and she said she isn't sure and to just give what I think, I have NO idea.
Any advice on how much I should give her?

MrsJW15 · 28/11/2016 12:11

Badger it is really nice, but I'm a bit worried that anything that hubby and his siblings used has been stored somewhere for 25 years, and may not be in the best condition!

mightymouse76 · 28/11/2016 12:24

Hi nervous, that sounds grim, sorry to hear!
Have you had a urine test check in last week? I had a UTI last week and it can make nausea/sickness worse (I def felt more sick again-it hasn't actually gone away anyway but it regressed) and you don't always have the painful peeing bit. Worth calling midwife or docs maybe, get a sample tested? Especially if you feel a bit feverish or shivery at all-midwife encouraged me to make a docs appointment, they don't consider it time-wasting at all.
Hope you feel much better v soon

Oh yeah, good point jw! I hadn't thought of that, could be awkward Confused

nelly yuk! Hope you feel better soon! Loads of peeps on here (& other preggo group I'm in) seem to have had that :(

1004Rise · 28/11/2016 14:31

Quick car seat poll....how useful do you think it is that it fits the pushchair frame. Most car journeys we take will be at least 45 minutes so just going out will be an hour and a half. If we're anywhere for any length of time baby is going to have to come out of the seat anyway... Just wonder if we should be restricted to car seats that fit the pram we wanted Confused

Adventuregame · 28/11/2016 14:56

I intend to leave my car seat in the car and choose whichever pram I want but we do have a big car so plenty of space for that.

EsmesBees · 28/11/2016 15:08

I found it useful Rise. Especially as there was an Inbetween phase where she no longer wanted to lie flat, but wasn't big enough for the buggy seat yet.

FoxMulder · 28/11/2016 15:35

I only used the car seat on the wheels a couple of times rise. What I found more useful was having a base in the car so it's easy to click the seat in and out. I would bring the seat into the house when DS had fallen asleep in the car (when he was a bit bigger and could stay in the seat a little longer)

nelly the expiry date thing can be tricky to interpret. It should look sort of like a clock with an arrow for a hand

MissMooMoo · 28/11/2016 16:50

Yes they are £165 brand new!
Thanks for having a look nelly
I think I will give her £70

teainbed · 28/11/2016 17:05

It's useful thing to have Rise but not essential. As others have said it depends on how you're using it. I have tended to leave the seat in the car in the past and move the baby rather than move the seat.

Has anyone bought any vest tops? I was looking for black and white the later under other things but I can only find Jojo ones for £19 each!

Anyone else bursting out of their new bigger bras yet? I've ordered the next size up can't wait they are so uncomfortable.
