I'm a bit disappointed though, I'd like to know the actual figure for my own curiosity (I do like my statistics) :)

1004Rise · 26/11/2016 19:52

We spent 2hrs in the shops today looking at prams and car seats.... brain = fried!! HmmConfusedShock

Badgerbird · 26/11/2016 20:10

Hello missfab and shinni and congratulations!! I know what you mean about the hormones too, I've had a crap week ending in a complete meltdown yesterday!! Loads better today and almost feel like my old self Smile Braving oxford street was very brave!!! Shock

Glad rescan went well mamushka

barnes sorry to hear you are worried about your scan results. They seem pretty low to me but I can understand why you'd want to know more definitely. Hope you can decide which way to move forward so you don't worry all wknd.

EsmesBees · 26/11/2016 20:31

Mine just says 'low risk' too Savage. I love a bit of detail so would have preferred the figures. But the main thing is that it's low, I suppose.

Did you see any you liked rise?

ShiniBerry · 26/11/2016 21:45

Savage, I checked with the doctor at my 12 week scan who said up to 23 weeks should be fine but I'm double checking with the obstetrician at my next appointment.
Streaky, thanks for the tip. Airplane food can be so awful, I'm definitely packing loads of snacks!

Anyone else having lots of headaches? Seem to be having them daily since 16 weeks! :-/

1004Rise · 26/11/2016 21:54

I still haven't had my screening results back yet and the scan was 2.5 weeks ago... I'm guessing that since we don't have them it's low risk... they did say no news is good news but I'd still like to see it written down.

Esme we think we want the Bugaboo Chameleon but car seats are still a mystery... Hmm

McBaby · 26/11/2016 22:31

I kind of wish mine just said low risk I am 1:360 for ds which seems too high for me but above the hospital cut off of 150. It is 1:30000 and 1:80000 for the other two.

lullaby23 · 27/11/2016 01:34

Good news on the scans and low risk results! Glad the London folk had a good meet up. Welcome to the new people too.

On the subject of antihistamines I have continued to take mine, I have year round hayfever type allergies and eczema which flares up in pregnancy anyway. For obvious reasons they can't always do proper clinical trials on pregnant women to prove they are 100% safe. This is quite a good website for research: www.medicinesinpregnancy.org and the Ovia pregnancy app has a medicine look up section too.

savagehk · 27/11/2016 08:40

I'm having a few headaches too, luckily not daily. I think it's pretty normal, only in later pregnancy you need to be a bit more careful as it can indicate pre eclampsia (if also having blurred vision etc).

For car seats try pick one that lasts longer, check the weight/height limits. I'm thinking of the Joie Every Stage this time, which lasts a very very long time. Rear facing is safer than forward facing so check how long the rear facing period lasts.

We don't own a car so need seatbelt fitting as we can't guarantee ISOfix in any car we may be using.

Last time we had an infant carrier at first which we were given by a friend (genuine used once!) then got the Britax Two Way Elite. We've since given away the infant carrier so can't do the same again (the two way elite isn't suitable from birth)

RasperryInAMelon · 27/11/2016 14:06

Car seat wise we've opted for the Silvercross Simplicity. It won't last for that long but will work in connection with our pram as part of the travel system. Then we'll go for a longer lasting one after

Streaky17 · 27/11/2016 14:20

I just got back from a NCT nearly new sale. Got some maternity tops and dresses and one of those weird looking pillow things.

All the baby clothes seemed to be in really good condition so will go to another one. I will need to convince the oh that second hand is OK.

Our boiler is broken so got the woodburner on. SadSmile

growcookeat · 27/11/2016 16:22

Welcome to newbies. Glad there's more good scan results too!

I've had a ridiculously emotional day today - I've cried 6 times! Trying to clear out the nursery which had been a storage room since we moved in 3 years ago and DH and I have been butting heads all day. No idea why! We got so cross with each other at one point we just burst out laughing then sat down for a cup of tea. It's pretty clear now though so we'll probably get decorating in the new year.

Raspberry I have had headaches too. I don't think I was drinking enough water so tried to be really aware of it last few days and seems to have helped.

Good to hear there was lots on offer at the nearly new sale, we've got one booked in for Jan.

Badgerbird · 27/11/2016 16:30

grow I totally feel your pain!!! Hope you two are ok now and you've stopped crying for the day? I've been finding it hard to be nice to people as so sick of being so tired and frustrated at my limitations! I'm such an active can do type of person normally. Getting used to a new kind of normal I guess? Also guessing the crappy preggo insomnia is to get us used to be awake in the night?!

streaky the nct sale sounds good! There isn't one near me on a date I can make so went to mum and baby charity shop and got a couple of bits yesterday then went to h and m and just bought tops in a bigger size. I now have clothes I can fit!! Wooohoooo Smile

I have to say that although I moan I do bloody love being pregnant!!

Badgerbird · 27/11/2016 16:33

raspberry I meant to ask, how was it meeting up with everyone? Hope it's not too personal a question, tell me to butt out if it is! Just I was thinking about how you were saying you find it hard to make new friends and I was hoping that meeting up with the lovelies from this group helped to put your mind at ease a little with regards to meeting new mummy friends in the future :)

Yes we're back to being friends now! Smile
Although after we sorted things out I found a memory box full of my dad's things which set me off crying again in a different way (he died 8 years ago). These hormones are driving me mad!

Badger I get what you mean about feeling restricted. I was looking at finances yesterday - it's hard to get my head around the fact I won't have money coming in in the same way. I realised I've been earning my own money for half my life. Not sure I've totally accepted I'll be relying on DH. He thinks I'm being silly and keeps saying its family money. I'm all over the place at the moment. Just when my body starts feeling better my head goes bonkers!

PeachIcedT · 27/11/2016 18:22

It's good to hear there have been good results from the screening tests on here. Streaky, glad you managed to get a couple of bits at the NN sale, the baby clothes I got last week are in fabulous condition, I believe they are quite strict on what they allow to be sold. And thenervousnelly I think you're right on the best clothes-induced poonami!

I don't know where to start on buying bigger items, though through various brothers and sisters may be able to source a second-hand pram, pushchair, high chair and car seat. I think second-hand car seats are generally not advised but I think it's different if you know its history?

I splashed out on some Seraphine over-bump jeggings and more importantly, over-bump work trousers as my smartish clothes options are seriously diminishing. Other than those I'm hoping to manage with some slightly larger style non-maternity clothing.

I've got the 16 week appointment this week, anyone else? Though not sure much happens during it from what I've read.

Brightsmoke · 27/11/2016 18:31

Hi again everyone. Been away and had a hellish week since I came back, and had a big thread to catch up on! Lol

Me and DH went to the mothercare Black Friday sale. We knew we wanted a bugaboo buffalo, and either a maxi cosi cabriofix or pebble car seat, the fact the cabriofix was free was a bonus! I think we're pretty much there now! Got all furniture items, just the small bits to get! Finally feeling organised!

Glad the London meet went well, I'm only Berkshire, but hate public transport so don't think I'll get chance to join in unfortunately.

Hope everyone is well (or as well as can be!!) and I'm going to try and keep up to date in the group a bit more now 😂

Rabbitykins55 · 27/11/2016 18:46

Peach I had my 16 week appointment last week, very quick, about ten minutes. She checked my blood pressure, went through test results, well just said it was all ok, urine sample and heartbeat.

No measurements or weight was taken.

That was with a consultant not a midwife but I imagine they are the same.

FoxMulder · 27/11/2016 18:48

I've got my 16wk midwife appointment tomorrow too, along with a dentist appointment and a haircut! Busy day!

Sonnet18 · 27/11/2016 19:04

16 week appointment is the most unremarkable really. They didn't even do the heartbeat at mine!

EsmesBees · 27/11/2016 19:50

Second hand car seats are fine peach as long as you can be sure they have never been in an accident. So inheriting from family should be fine. They don't stay in the first stage ones for long so not worth paying for new if you don't have to.

Oh good I'll be able to tick off another item with the car seat, also saves having to decide which to buy - sometimes too much choice is overwhelming.

It sounds to me that the listening of the heart beat at 16 weeks depends on area and midwife, personally I'm not expecting they'll do it as the appointment is a 15 minute slot, it'll most likely be handing over of various testing fluids and goodbye.
