MMOooMar - how premature was your first then?
You could still do something like active birth as you do relaxation and yoga. It's just a nice time out for you to focus on you and your bump.

sorry guys feel bloody down today.
Got loads of decorating to do and just cant seem to get on with it ( hence ,thats why im here!).
I wonder if I can catch up with bendybus and sneak into her suitcase???

TeeCee · 27/02/2007 15:58

Sorry you're down.
I'm looking at moving and will need to decorate a few rooms before we move as well as then having to decorate whereere we move to if that makes you feel any better!

Hi TeeCee,
Dont do it to yourself ,stay where you are!

To answer your previous post,Only 6 wks ,but everything all seemed like one long nightmare and I hadnt ought to winge about it as DS was ok and didnt need to go to sc for long ,he was just jaundiced for weeks so had to suffer the blood tests. But I feel I missed out somehow on the birth and all that as it was constant monitoring so could`nt move around ,then he got stuck ( I think because I couldnt be active during labour) so had a spinal block and forceps.

Like I say shouldnt winge about it when some people and their DC`s go through hell and back .
Tommorrow I wil feel OK....

Sorry for the double up,left my finger on the mouse too long

TeeCee · 27/02/2007 16:23

You say only 6 weeks but that's a massive shock for anyone.

DD1 was in Special care for a while when she ws born and all the other babies were all premature. I felt so bad for the mums who had to go home leaving their newborns in hospital. It must be horrid.

We're going to have to move. 3 kids, 2 adults and a small 3 bed house. Don't want Dd1 to have to swap rooms so DD2 and DC3 share and it wouldn't work any other way really.

We just need more space, have a nice but very small house and already cramped with just 2 girls. If I have a boy it's a whole new set of toys as well as needign an extra bedroom.

When I had Dd1 we moved as well and the exchange date ws my due date! what fun!

MMooMar · 27/02/2007 16:42

TeeCee,Ignore me ,just having one of those days, will have to try and make myself think that I will fall into the other percentage who go f/t.

I know what you mean about room sharing ,We are in a three bed house .Our spare room is used as a office as DP is self employed,So we need to move everything out as I don`t want DS to have to share.

We are having to change all the kitchen round so we can build a conservatory on the back for the office stuff etc.....and the bathroom looks like someone has dropped a bomb on it( wish someone would .)

never mind suppose it will be sorted soon....

TeeCee · 27/02/2007 16:52

Nothing like an imminent arrival to make you start knocking the house down or moving!
So funny!
I remember in my active birth class going round and all saying something about ourselves and 23 out of the 25 women were decorating, building or moving!

minnie, I have put my name on the list for nct classes but they are still in the process of sorting out class times at the moment and said they would get back to me.

What is Active birth classes teecee, is it tips on birth positioning etc ? I have also booked in for hypnobirthing as have heard good things about it, but thats about all.

To be honest its difficult deciding which classes are necessary when you are the first in your family/friends set who is having a baby. I've got nobody to advise. You'd think by the age of 29 at least one of them would have popped one out!

MMooMar · 27/02/2007 16:57

How strange ,I wonder if thats because they want to ,or HAVE to, like us?

MMooMar · 27/02/2007 17:00

Sorry that last message of mine must have looked odd ,didnt realise anyone else was about yet.It was to Teecee for her last post on moving/decorating..............ok now i`m waffling.....

laksa · 27/02/2007 17:01

oh, was just on another thread and one girl was told off by her midwife for redecorating her kitchen because the paint fumes/glue etc are supposed to be bad for the foetus??

We just painted our kitchen on sunday and the fumes were overpowering...oops. I'd never heard of this, surely this is only for ppl subjected on a daily basis?

When you are pregnant, the world seems to be a place of constant hazards which ppl feel compelled to warn you off

MMooMar · 27/02/2007 17:05

I thought the fumes could only be a hazard once the baby was out.On my last one they told me to decorate his room before he arrived.

laksa · 27/02/2007 17:05

perhaps its early panic nesting? We moved into a new house a year and half ago and its in need of some tlc, but we have been very lazy putting it off. I have suddenly realised that we probably won't have time to do all the work we want to after the baby arrives and so am trying to get a move on

not used to this thread moving so fast, I keep cross posting [grin}

laksa · 27/02/2007 17:09

oh, I am very envious of all you Queen Charlottes lot, I have heard some lovely things about it, with its birthing suite complete with disco ball!

MMooMar · 27/02/2007 17:13

disco ball.....!
Be lucky to get a birthing one at mine

MMooMar · 27/02/2007 17:14

sounds posh there enit!

missmapp · 27/02/2007 20:12

Hi all

Teecee, im so sorry if i have upset you. As sophus said it is your positive comments about your dd that has put everything into perspective and made me far more relaxed about everything, i am so looking forward to this baby and as laska said happy and healthy is all i want, so please dont feel hurt you are much apprecited

eddie, hope you are feeling better - theres nothing worse than feeling lousy all the time

mmoomar - my cousin first born was 2 mths prem and her second was 2 weeks late! so you never know.

This week has been mad. My ds is 2 soon and all hs friends ( from my antenatel grp) are 2 around the same time so its been birthdaty party chaos! The cake situation is worrying me, so far at parties there has been a train, a tractor(with trailor full of animals!) and a pig. i was planning a cake in a number 2 shape and thought that was adventurous - oh well, i know my limits and i cannot make a tractor out of cake!!

Take care and hope all who are under the weather are feeling better soon

TeeCee · 27/02/2007 21:33

Hi Missmapp, you don't have anything to apologise for, you really don't. You didn't say anything wrong but I just find that whole topic hard and couldn't join in with it for reasons I tried (quite badly) to explain. You really, really don't need to apologise, it's me, not you, but thank you for your message

MrsMar · 27/02/2007 22:02

Hello all,

Hope everyone is well.

Canadianmum - good luck with your scan. Was there any particular reason you chose to go private for it, if you don't mind me asking?

Can I ask everyone a question... at what point did you start wearing maternity bras? I'm still in my normal ones, but I'm really bulging out of them (even my big "period" ones!) I bought a couple of M&S maternity ones but they were horrid, gave me a real "mono-boob" look, and I was pretty large in the first place (34E). They're also pretty uncomfortable. I don't really like the idea of not wearing underwired, but my sister says that I should stop wearing underwired ones. Any ideas if she's right?

xx

rachelandbumpsmum · 27/02/2007 22:24

Hello - I'm new to all this messaging malarkey and think I found the two longest threads to start with! Anyway, I think I'm up to date with this one now - although with pregnancy scrambled egg brains am beginning to forget everything I've read already!

I've added myself to the ever lengthening list! I'm due 27th Sept, second child and terrified about how much I've forgotten from first time round!

Hmm, was someone saying something about excessive use of exclamation marks?!

Welcome Rachel! It is a long thread I can't keep up most of the time...

In resopnse to MissM - I have started wearing maternity bras - went for a fitting and lady said (and I have heard this other places too) that underwiring can block your milk ducts (ugh tmi) and that if you are not properly supported then all the muscles will stretch out of shape as your boobs grow and you will be left with very saggy ones. I for one think it is worth putting up with a few months in ugly bras to stop this. Plus my non-underwired sturdy ones, although horrid looking, are incredibly comfy.

laksa · 28/02/2007 10:15

welcome rachel, can I be nosey and ask which hospital you're planning on using as you seem to live in a similar area to me

Mrs Mar,I am wearing normal underwired bras at the moment and am thinking of getting some others...but I hate nonunderwired. The only problem is that your boobs keep growing which means a dilemma in buying a size which is slightly loose or one that fits perfectly Think I will go to somewhere like primark and get some cheapies for now.

I am also having a dilemma over maternity swimwear. I am going on holiday on the 7th May which means I'll be about 21 weeks pregnant, could I get away with a bikini with the bottoms pushed under bump or is this ridiculous?? I know how big you get at that stage depends on the individual...is what height you are a factor in how big your bump gets...I am only 5ft 1inch tall, am I doomed to be a beech ball for the last 3/4 months?

xx
