Diddly Yes we are waiting till after 12 weeks. Maybe tell them on Christmas day. DH and I are hosting xmas for about 20 people! We did not realise we would be pregnant by then. We thought it would take a few months. Oh well, M&S desserts will have to do.

LuciBee231015 · 25/10/2016 17:11

I'm also hosting my first ever Christmas Day for about 15 people this year! Our parents and close friends know we are pg, we've got so many things coming up that would be impossible for them not to know. Plus if anything was to happen (praying that it doesn't) I would tell them anyway...

thumbsupforthesixbillion · 25/10/2016 17:31

I'm hosting Christmas for just my in laws, so only four of us, I would really like to give them a gift with something about grandparents on as it will be the first grandchild for them, DH isn't so sure but we will be waiting until around 12 weeks either way. I'm not envious of your 20 notyetthere or your 15 Luci! I was just planning my m&s order, most of the deserts seem to be chocolate mouse, I feel like the raw egg in these probably makes it not an option for me?

I have discovered today the caffeine avoiding is going to be more obvious for me than the drinking, a colleague caught me making decaf tea today and I was stumped as to what reason I could give for drinking it. Im the coffee pusher in the office, this one is going to be difficult!

Notyetthere · 25/10/2016 18:01

Thumbs I have just checked out the M&S Desserts and I am not inspired but then I have never really had xmas dessert on the day. I tend to over indulge on the main.

I won't make a starter as last year people got so full on the starter food. I will have a few nibbles available like samosas, nuts etc beforehand. We will then have dinner. Normally buffet style where everyone helps themselves.

LuciBee231015 · 25/10/2016 20:52

So went to the GP and was a bit pointless really. Took my blood pressure and gave me a leaflet to refer myself to the local midwife. I thought I got a choice of hospital? Doe that not happen anymore? Or do I just refer myself to whichever one I want to go to?! 🤔

Diddlydokey · 25/10/2016 21:00

You choose with your mw. Mine was closed last time. We had to get directions from the midwife Grin

Ohhh right! I have to call and leave a voicemail apparently and then a midwife will call me back. Will do that tomorrow and see where it goes from there...

Really gassy today 🙈 Anyone else getting that? That and sore boobs is all I have at the mo.

Notyetthere · 26/10/2016 08:32

Morning All. Received a call from Gp at 7pm and he confirmed that I have an early scan booked for 7th Nov as he really needed to be able to date the pregnancy. I know how far along I am but he wasn't interested. I will be exactly 6 wks. They might have to use dildo cam. If they can't see anything then another appointment will be made for a second scan.

I was planning on getting a private scan at about 8 weeks anyway. I will keep the money for something else baby related instead.

Still cramping here. I thought boobs were sore but I think I was imagining it. I was gassy last night but thought it was the fish cakesGrin. How is everyone feeling?

LuciBee231015 · 26/10/2016 08:37

dildo cam 😂

im calling the midwife hotline today. Had the best sleep I've had in about 4 days last night, even if I did get up for a wee at 3am! Feeling ok so far today.

LuciBee231015 · 26/10/2016 09:57

So called the midwife number on the leaflet I was given at the GP and its for that particular hospital only... So guess I don't get a choice? That is closest to me so makes sense I suppose...

Notyetthere · 26/10/2016 11:30

Luci Yes! If they can't see anything from the tummy they normally stick a pensize thing with a camera up your fanjo to get a good look. I am going to go prepared for it as I also have a lovely cushion of fat in the wayBlush

Do you like the hospital you have been given? If you don't maybe it is worth asking your gp for other midwife details? I bet they have more than oner midwife? I am lucky that my nearest hospital is relatively new and well regarded by everyone that has used it for their maternity care. We also get individual rooms for the whole time we are there which makes it very popular in the area.

LuciBee231015 · 26/10/2016 11:50

I don't really know much about it to be honest, but it's not in the nicest of areas... I might see if I am in the catchment area for any others as well. I just think that the closest one is probably the best when you go into labour?!

LuciBee231015 · 26/10/2016 12:03

So ive just done a bit of research and the hospital that is closest to me has an 'outstanding' rating for maternity and the one I thought I might like has a rating of 'requires improvement' ...decision made!

Notyetthere · 26/10/2016 12:21

Ah perfect. That is sorted then. I have not thought that far ahead. I will probably look into it after the first few scans when everything is confirmed to be progressing well.

I have, however, fantasized about what I want the nursery to look like. I am even looking on ebay to see how much the type of furniture I want is going for. I probably ought to do what you are doing now, ensure that I am happy with my hospital.

LuciBee231015 · 26/10/2016 12:33

Haha! I have no even thought about nursery! I want to get registered with midwife and be happy with my hospital choice and then I will start getting excited about the nursery and all of that once I've had my 12 week scan I think. Going to be the longest wait for that ever!! And I used to struggle with the 2ww!!

Had a few af like cramps this morning and gas 🙈 And could do with a little nap actually ha!

Notyetthere · 26/10/2016 13:56

The wait for the 12 week scan is very long. I never really had problems with the 2ww but last time by 5wks it felt like I had been going for weeks on end. I had only found the BFP 2 wks earlier. I think it also adds in the 2ww.

Serious cramping today. Like a tightness and warm around that area. I keep thing AF is about to start. I am knicker checking loads! I have noticed nausea kicking in around lunch time and disappears after about 4pm. The same happened yesterday.

LuciBee231015 · 26/10/2016 14:04

I'm knicker checking too quite a lot. I seem to go from not feeling like eating to being ridiculously starving within about 5 minutes as well. Like if I don't eat that very second my stomach is going to eat itself!

I like all these little things though, makes me excited 😁.

OohNoDooEy · 26/10/2016 14:25

Has anyone else found that they are breathless? I seem to get a bit out of puff walking up the stairs. This is new.

Notyetthere · 26/10/2016 14:40

OohNoo Do you mean at home going to bed type stairs? Not I. I am wary of over exerting myself though so I am taking it easy. I won't even rake the leaves in the garden even if they are annoying me. Last time I carried on as normal, run for my trains, carried heavy backpack to work everyday, stripped wallpaper all weekend in mum's flat and I believe I also helped dad shift paving slabs and cement bags! I can't say that this caused the mc but I have decided to do the opposite of what I did last time.

It has occurred to me that we might not be that many on the July 17 and August 17 thread as I believe several MNers don’t want late summer babies. I considered taking a break during Oct and Nov but then I worried that if it takes a long time, I might have wasted a cycle that could have been the bfp one.

OohNoDooEy · 26/10/2016 14:45

YY that's what I mean - I work in an office with stairs and have to go up and down a fair bit and realise that it is making me a bit out of breath. Weird.

Notyetthere · 26/10/2016 15:15

OohNoo what is your EDD? Is this your 1st DC?

LuciBee231015 · 26/10/2016 15:27

Yes there aren't many of us... I was happy to have a baby at any time!

My DH is a teacher so means he will be off on holidays for 6 weeks shortly after baby is due, which works out rather nice actually.

OohNoDooEy · 26/10/2016 15:39

2nd July, 2nd baby

It is great timing for your DH Luci. If you go a little bit over, he won't need to go back between paternity and the summer

OohNoDooEy · 26/10/2016 15:40

I keep on thinking far too much in advance. Can't help it though.
