No worries jpeg I found it really helpful and I lot smaller than the pillow! Also suffering if I don't eat for a few hours, which I'm struggling with because still not wanting to eat after the sickness the past few weeks! Have found that nibbling on nuts helps or smoothies x

sarahhh1984 · 26/10/2016 13:11

That's a shame, marmite. From speaking to friends though, the fitness options for pregnant women really seem to vary region by region. I was lucky to get a place on Mamafit as it books up so fast, but I thought £45 for the pregnancy yoga was very reasonable for a 6 week course. I figure the two together plus lots of walking should keep me fit(ish)!

JennyOfOldstones · 26/10/2016 14:52

I had awful hip pain last pregnancy and a pillow between the legs helped a lot. I ended up with a single duvet underneath me for extra padding during the last few months.

Right now I would like to be in bed long enough to get hip pain. DD was up all night coughing poor girl.

Niks2026 · 26/10/2016 17:36

Anyone else having real highs and lows? This evening I'm feeling really sad and could cry at anything :(

MyGreenSofa · 26/10/2016 18:11

Niks - I was like that all through my last pregnancy, found the mood swings very difficult. Hope you feel better soon!

I'm feeling much better today thanks marmite. No pains at all. DH bought me home some gaviscon & rennie and made me drink loads of water so perhaps it was all wind/digestion related! I'll make a GP appt if it happens again though and mention to midwife on Monday. I find pregnancy such a worry and I'm no good if I do get any aches & pains as just bury my head in the sand and hope it goes away. Not the approach I would recommend!

Happy anniversary MrsR! Hope you have a lovely evening.

ChatEnOeuf · 27/10/2016 07:25

Marmite I got one from Vertbaudet. Expensive if you pay full price, but I got it for about £50, so well worth it. Something like this one, but five years older :)

Jpeg I've been having that since the start - sick, dizzy and faint if I don't eat every couple of hours. Bit of a bind, especially at work. I carry a lot of snacks with me.

ACatandaKitten · 27/10/2016 08:49

Hello all just hoping to join you!
I'm new to mumsnet and now getting my head around Baby no.1. High-five to anyone else due 21st April!
I have no friends pregnant at the moment so great to find this thread and see that I'm not alone in wanting to push through 1st trimester word and onto more exciting stages!

jpeg28 · 27/10/2016 09:38

Welcome ACat and congrats! I'm the same as you... no pregnant friends so mumsnet is the only place I can go for advice and ranting about pregnancy!

Puggleface · 27/10/2016 10:40

So today I have well and truly debueted the baby bump to the wolrd of work. I've been trying to wear baggy clothes but all those options are running out! I'm not only wearing my amazing maternity leggings but I'm also giving a maternity dress an outing today! My bump feels and looks huge! I'm 16 weeks tomorrow! I am fully embracing it though and am sure i've felt a few flutters and swirls going on in there!
I haven't weighed myself since my 12 week scan so don't know how much I've put on yet but am seeing my midwife next week and will do it then!
I'm not getting a maternity coat, just because i have this quite good over sized one and hopefully it will be able to see me through!
Oh I've also found sleeping and getting comfortable a pain at night. thankfully I'm not getting up to pee every 5 minutes anymore (will make the most of that for the next few months!) but i'm just really uncomforatble! I've been shoving a pillow between my knees the past few nights and I think its starting to get a bit better now. Smile

petiteange28 · 27/10/2016 10:41

Niks I am completely with you. DH drove me crazy last night and I lost it. He seems to think next year he will just be able to carry on as normal....go snowboarding in March and then a stag do in the summer. I completely lost my cool. Do men just think they can carry on life as normal whilst we stay at home and sort everything out in the house AND look after a new baby?!?!?!

Maybe it's just my husband that's this way but it's bloody annoying.

And breathe..................Angry

jpeg28 · 27/10/2016 10:48

petite I'm so glad your said that! My OH is the same... skiing in Feb, cricket tour in July, stag dos, you name it he's planned it! He says to me "you can't expect me to just do nothing"... how about we will have no money for all of those luxuries?!! Once the baby arrives I'm hoping he will realise how different our lives will be!
Today we were sat having a lovely breakfast and coffee reading the paper etc and he said to me "it's times like this I sort of don't want a baby"!!! I was not happy... he said that wasn't what he meant, but it's so nice to do things like this and we won't be able to as much once the baby is here!

abeandhalo · 27/10/2016 11:25

Sorry to hear some partners aren't quite grasping the reality of the situation! I'm sure they will soon enough when they've got babies in their arms!

Can't believe how well putting a pillow / folded blanket between my knees last time stopped the hip pain! Thanks for that advice, ladies. I only had a tiny bit of hip pain, but I was on the sofa most of the night as couldn't sleep due to horrible ongoing work situation.

Helbelle75 · 27/10/2016 12:16

It's nice to show off the bump, isn't it puggle?! I'm covering up to work a I don't really want the students to know yet, but have bought lots of lovely maternity things for outside work.

marmitecheesetoast · 27/10/2016 12:48

Ooh love the look of that Chatenouef thanks! Looks perfect. It's out of stock in all sizes but think I'll look for something similar.

Glad you're feeling better now GreenSofa

Jpeg i have also been having that - was told my BP was on the low side which was probably causing it. Lots of snacks here too! I was told to eat a little and often.

Cat and Jpeg I am also in the no pregnant friends/friends with baby club too. Thank goodness for MN! I'm worried about not having people to spend time with on ML already but I'm sure through NCT/baby groups I'll hopefully make some friends.

Well done Puggle I've been meaning to embrace and proudly shown off bump at work all this week but keep chickening out in the morning and finding yet another baggy top. It's silly really I don't know why I feel so self conscious?! Maybe I'll bite the bullet tomorrow.

I'm having such awful what I think is round ligament pain it's been non-stop since yesterday mid-morning is that normal?! It's a constant pain sort of starting just below and next to my belly button and going up a good few cms. It's a lot worse when I move but I do have constant pain. I had such a terrible nights sleep as everytime I moved/rolled over I woke myself (and DH) up yelping in pain. It's making me miserable just can't get comfortable at work.

petiteange28 · 27/10/2016 15:11

jpeg28 thank god it's not just me!!

I'm all for him going but within reason....I did point out that he only gets 25 days holiday a year so what about coming on holiday with me and the baby......

jpeg28 · 27/10/2016 15:34

The baby must be having a growth spurt Marmite! If it's really causing you so much discomfort maybe call your MW just for advice? I'm sure it's completely fine but not good for you to just be in pain all the time.

I was finally allowed to do some painting today! Kitchen and hallway both done just the baby room left to go but think we will leave that for a few months!

Been looking at prams for the last hour... has anyone decided what they want yet??

marmitecheesetoast · 27/10/2016 17:14

Certainly the uterus is having a growth spurt Jpeg if not the baby! I tried a hot water bottle on it this afternoon at work which did help ease it a bit. I've done a bit of googling and apparently it's not unusual Hmm there were some gentle stretches suggested online to try which are supposed to help release and ease the round ligaments a bit so might try those when I get home. Got 16 wk appt with MW on tues morning too so will mention it then.

Good work on the painting!

No idea about prams at all, haven't really looked at or thought about any baby equipment type things yet, no idea where one would start! Think I need a list! I was worried it was still too early in someway to start looking at stuff but that's probably silly Hmm

jpeg28 · 27/10/2016 17:21

Mothercare have a great list which I'm going by... John Lewis have one too. It's still really early but I just can't help but look!! I'm thinking of going for a Joolz one but need to go and try them all out. I'm hoping xmas sales will have a ton of baby stuff in them!

Kates1stBump · 27/10/2016 17:45

I would like to join the April 2017 group. I'm 30, due with my first DC April 18th and we find out next week if it's a boy or girl!

jpeg28 · 27/10/2016 18:07

Welcome Kate and congrats! I'm due the 18th too!!

MrsRhubarb · 27/10/2016 18:23

Hello ACat and Kate! Lovely that this group is still growing.

I'm not bothering with a maternity coat, I think I'll just steal DHs fleece if I outgrow mine! It's pretty roomy, so I think I'll be alright

Thanks for all your anniversary wishes, we had a lovely relaxed evening with alcohol free Kopparberg for me. My hips were really aching when I got to bed but I popped a pillow between my legs and between that and no 3 year old alarm clock I had the most wonderful sleep, which is the best possible anniversary present!

avengerhart85 · 27/10/2016 18:40

Aw petite my OH is like this...'I've booked a weekend biking' just smile sweetly and tell him what a marvellous idea it is that you both get a weekend away with your friends, you will go the weekend after and watch the colour drain from his face WinkGrin I am a bit cruel though but it was funny!

We found out today we are team Pink! So happy I can now start shopping Grin

abeandhalo · 27/10/2016 20:01

We're going for a Giggle 2 'travel system' Hmm I think. Went in to Babies R Us a while ago & I just panicked & asked the woman working there which she would have. She was v helpful & we've looked at reviews online since. Pram is the only thing we've actually decided on, I think we have to take it one thing at a time as they're so much! Our next thing we're starting to look at is a steriliser with all the extras as Mothercare are having a good sale at the moment!

MyGreenSofa · 27/10/2016 20:01

Congrats avenger!

ACatandaKitten · 27/10/2016 20:09

Just scrolling through old posts and wish I'd joined before for so much advice!
Helbelle75 you a teacher too?! I feel you about hiding it from students... but I teach secondary so thankfully teenagers are so absorbed in their own lives I don't think they'll notice for a while!
So I thought I'd use half term break to start a little maternity shopping and (apologies if I'm late to the game and ignorant of this!) spent two days getting fed up that nothing is available in shops! Everywhere is 'sorry online only'. Eventually plumped for a few basics from top shop online but please let me know if anyone can recommend shops in London where I can actually go inside and try things on!? Might have to brave Oxford street. I'm not a girly girl shopper so slightly dreading this...
jpeg28 re the John Lewis catalogue my sweet partner brought it home the other day and when my mum visited she was wetting herself with laughter, basically saying 'you don't need that, or that, or that'!!! So slightly reassuring that we don't need to re-mortgage to buy so much stuff!
niks2026 if it makes you feel less alone please be reassured I've been up and down. The peak this week was when I was craving cheese scones and Sainsbury's had run out... resulting in me sobbing in the aisle... a sweet lady checked up on me and when I said I was pregnant she said 'ah I should've guessed... with me it was salty mushy peas'
Good night y'all. Wishing you comfy hips and fart-free sleeps!
