beach my nausea was bad but about 9.5/10 weeks I gradually felt better to the point were I didn't (and still don't) feel pregnant at all. I think they drill into you about the magic 12 weeks but in reality it's still very normal to start feeling better from 10 weeks or so when the placenta starts taking over. We're damned if we do and we're damned if we don't Smile

AnneLovesGilbert · 24/10/2016 21:34

Welcome newbies and lovely to hear lots of good news and chatter about buying baby stuff! Smile

So sorry some of you have had crappy reactions from people, that's awful. You're having a baby that you want and that will have a happy secure place in your family and that you'll adore, cherish and look after. That's the most important thing. It sucks not to have more rl support but we're here for you x

I'm going to try and get my 12 week scan brought forward from a Monday to the Friday before but the appointment letter is a bit telly offy about changes so what are my chances? Will I have to explain myself?

ginandcake · 25/10/2016 07:13

Hi, was on the old thread but haven't posted for a while, life got a little bit busy! Things have quietened down for the moment but planning some extensive house renovations before baby comes, excited but filled with dread.

Had 12 week scan yesterday, was there for 2 hours because baby would not lie the right way for all the measurements, and they had lost my bloods from booking. Angry

Hope everyone is starting to feel a little more human, I'm off work today feeling rotten so going to read through the thread and catch up!

CinnamonTwist · 25/10/2016 07:41

Thanks for all the sling suggestions Grin I really like the look of the caboo, I was originally thinking of something more 'stretchy wrap' that you tie in a knot. But I think on balance I'll only get fed up with faffing with it and something with a bit more structure will be more useful. I think once he/she gets a bit bigger we'll then move onto one of those structured back pack thingys. We will use the sling/ backpack for more muddy and style orientated walks, but want a pram that can go off-road as the walks behind our house have main tracks (which we don't use so much currently as we, and our dog, like the tiny trails more) and then more rustic single track bits that lead off them. When we are walking with a baby it will be nice to be able to go round the tracks with him/ her in a pram and only carry her/him when we feel like it. Also my PIL live up a track, so if we (or they) want to walk from there it will be good to be able to have the flexibility of a pram.
For some reason my autocorrect doesn't think 'pram' is a word.... think I might have to teach it over the next 6m!

FoxMulder · 25/10/2016 10:23

Those structured backpack ones are mega heavy and they sort of hold the baby's weight away from your body which makes them feel even heavier. There are loads of soft structured carriers like Beco and Tula which you can use on front of back well into toddler years. Anyway...all this is over a year away!

I'm going to see my sister (and kids) today and I have to tell her because I am sick and miserable and I have a massive belly but I don't want to, it's so cringey! How do you tell people? I don't like people being all excited about it because I don't feel excited about it...

crazyzooo · 25/10/2016 11:11

How are everone feeling? I had my first pregnancy related day off today at 10+4 (awkward as I am a self employed locum so no one knows I am pregnant). Managed to vomit all over myself in the shower this morning (highlight), made it to work and lasted an hour. Now in bed with gossip magazines and the cat!

Sorry some of you are having poor feedback on the baby news. The last thing you need with the sickness, hormones and uncertainty is someone else being negative.

MrsJW15 · 25/10/2016 11:20

Nausea has gone today, and I'm not feeling as hungry as I was, but I feel bloated and huuge! Also my skin is terrible at the moment. Still waiting for that pregnancy glow!

Flingmoo · 25/10/2016 11:57

Yuk, my face is all spotty and horrible too. My toddler even pointed it out "you got dots on your face mummy!"

RasperryInAMelon · 25/10/2016 12:01

Fox sorry to hear you're feeling that way...

My DH and I have recently gotten married, when we told our brothers we called them and asked if they'd do a favour for our first wedding anniversary and babysit for us, they were over the moon!

FoxMulder · 25/10/2016 12:36

I don't dare say I'm going to have a baby because I can't believe it myself! I am definitely pregnant though so I'll have to say that. "Sorry I'm so flecking miserable but I'm pregnant". Hmm not a great announcement!

FoxMulder · 25/10/2016 12:37

Flecking! Haha, silly phone.

AnneLovesGilbert · 25/10/2016 12:54

Good things at 10+6 today - slept well, boobs aren't as sore as most days. Nausea's been much better as well.

Bad things - horrible awful ugly depressingly bad skin on chest, upper back and neck. Tiny red spots and little sore bits. Bought a witch hazel stick to treat it topically and going to cover myself in aloe vera stuff later. But it's really getting me down.

Likewise the body hair! I'm nearly bald normally, never had underarm hair, not very hairy legs, and suddenly I have fine fair down on my lower back and over my belly and the start of the dark line down from my belly button. Surely way ahead of schedule?

So not feeling my most feminine....

RasperryInAMelon · 25/10/2016 13:26

Hahaha! Flecking love that Fox!

RasperryInAMelon · 25/10/2016 13:27

Anne I'm with you! I woke up this morning with spots in places I've never had them before Sad

Slightly odd question... how are other peoples libidos?... Blush

Flingmoo · 25/10/2016 13:34

Non existent Raspberry but mainly because of the nausea, tiredness, and on top of that having a stinking cold. Not easy to get in the mood under those conditions.

Last pregnancy my libido was great from 2nd trimester onwards so hoping it'll come back once the general first trimester crappiness wears off.

WishIWasSleeping · 25/10/2016 14:08

Raspberry it's normal for your drive to increase! Mine did last time, this time I'm just too busy to let it into my brain! Grin
Got my appt through yesterday, seems my scan is 2 weeks away, I estimate to be 13wk by then, but I only found out at week 8-9 so I suppose that's no too bad to get booking and scan in within 4wks.
My PFB Actual Rascal! has decided that sleep at night doesn't suit her anymore so work is increasingly difficult this week! Confused

teainbed · 25/10/2016 14:18

crazy I'm also a locum, are we in the same line of work? Grin

Just had my 12 week scan which dated me at 12+6 so will need to update the stats as due date is now the 3rd of May. But I'm unlikely to get past 38 weeks so maybe I should have been on the April thread!

Can't say my libido has been boosted by upset tummy, nausea and sore boobs but by the second and third trimester things usually pick up!

Badgerbird · 25/10/2016 14:24

fox if that's how you feel then that's what you should say I think! It actually made me giggle coz I knew exactly what you meant.

Just had my boss gobsmacked I didn't celebrate my birthday at weekend but until I know this baby's ok (scan on sat) I don't really feel like celebrating :( My last birthday was best ever, first ever pregnancy and blissfully unaware it had already gone wrong so excuse me if I'm not so excited this time.

Badgerbird · 25/10/2016 14:26

raspberry my libido isn't massively high but when we dtd it is mind blowing! Oh and I have crazy sexy dreams Blush Apparently it's to do with all the extra blood flow down there and hormones :) there had to be some perks!! Apart from the gorgeous healthy baby at end ofcourse.

Wow busy thread. Just catching up as been away for anniversary for a few days.

Ann I called to rearrange my scan and managed to get appt moved forward to thurs (originally booked for following Monday). I just explained that I was off work then and she said they would change if they had any appointments. Has worked out well as my DH is also off work this week! I'm getting pretty nervous now as it's 2 days away - I will be 12 + 5 by my calculations so be interesting to see if it matches up.

Symptoms seem to be improving - after weeks of nausea and running loads of milk. I'm just feeling hungry often and needing the loo more. Definitely looking huge - telling family at the weekend couldn't come soon enough! Also having strange sex dreams since last week! DH thinks it's hilarious - have been far too bloated to take advantage yet but won't be long I reckon.

Hoping that there will be some baby sales after Xmas when I should be past 20 weeks so think I'm going to try and wait to buy pram etc til then.

Looking forward to hearing about more scans!

JulyLady7 · 25/10/2016 14:56

Hey ladies,

Great news for all those that have had 12 weeks scans. Even though it's only been 3 weeks since my early scan at 8+2 which was great, I'm also petrified that something has gone wrong since. My nausea eased off at just before 9 weeks and it comes and goes just a tad now. I'm really scared of mmc but not much I can do but wait it out. This pregnancy lark is not easy!

AnneLovesGilbert · 25/10/2016 14:59

Horny as hell Rasperry, all the time, and it's never been better. Glad it's not just me if that's what you're blushing about Grin

It's always been great, when I came off the pill it really cranked up a notch and these days - belly, sore boobs, tiredness and nausea, body hair and bad skin notwithstanding - its epic.

I hope everyone else's comes back. It's one of the few plus sides of the crazy cocktail of hormones.

Thank you growcookeat, I've left them a message. You can't actually speak to anyone, you just leave a vm with your details and hope they call you back... Hope yours goes really really well. Will be thinking of you! Smile

AnneLovesGilbert · 25/10/2016 15:01

It's good your annoying symptoms are lessening July, I'm sure it's a good sign, they say a lot of them fade a bit when the placenta starts take over. My nausea's been lessening loads, nothing the last couple of days. It'll be fine, it will x

MrsJW15 · 25/10/2016 15:19

July I'm exactly the same. My early scan at 8+1 was fine, but I'm so worried about next week. Nausea wasn't fun but at least I felt sure I was pregnant!
