Lucie we have the same EDD and 12 Week
Scan date! Grin

lucieloos · 24/10/2016 14:29

Aww haha what's the chances of that Raspberry! Nice to have a bump buddy!

FoxMulder · 24/10/2016 14:30

Hello sausage! Congratulations!

Cinnamon I reckon your best bet for a newborn is a stretchy wrap like a Moby or 'Victoria sling lady' or the Close Caboo, which is basically a stretchy but a bit more structured.

I never found the pushchair very useful. We either 'go for a walk' i.e. over stiles and muddy fields so no good for pram or I drive to wherever I'm going, like playgroup or swimming or whatever so don't need anything. Can't walk anywhere from my house!

FoxMulder · 24/10/2016 14:32

DS also never slept in a cot. Grin I didn't set out to do things differently it's just the way it worked out!

teainbed · 24/10/2016 15:14

This is definitely my last baby and we've already given a lot of our stuff away so I'm hoping to keep it light on the buying stuff. I used a pram and car seat loads with my first and used it less and less with subsequent babies (no idea why). Also as I'm in Scotland I should be getting the Finnish baby box so it might end up sleeping in a cardboard box at first!

Flingmoo · 24/10/2016 15:40

Lucie and Rasperry I have the same due date and scan date too! Halloween Shock

I am feeling really crappy today. Constant horrible nausea and a cold as well now. No appetite to eat but if I don't eat the nausea worsens.

Weirdly been craving cold milk to drink today, which I never usually drink! I've had two glasses full already! Normally it would make me feel more queasy but for some reason today it actually has the reverse effect.

lalaland1985 · 24/10/2016 15:56

Teainbed - I'm in Scotland too! The baby box looks fab. Do you know what area it's being rolled out in in Jan? I read their was one area in Jan and then nationwide in the summer. I hope they class may as the summer! Grin

RasperryInAMelon · 24/10/2016 16:09

Mamushka baby buddies! Wink

I've not had time to think about how tired or shit I'm feeling today... been in the office since 8am and probably won't be home before 8pm... no time for lunch today. The joys of working in HR and Payroll at month end!

Somehow surviving on a bag of haribo today...

lucieloos · 24/10/2016 16:09

Oh wow Mamushka how weird is that! Also I'm feeling exactly like you are. Pretty much non stop nausea, no appetite as can't face the thought of most foods but keep getting really hungry and then the nausea is worse and the last few days i have been craving milk and drinking loads of the stuff and oddly it does make me feel a little better. I wondered today if it was because apparently the baby strips your body of calcium and the midwife was telling me it's important to make sure you're getting enough or take supplements so I thought maybe that's why my body is craving it. I've had two glasses in work today and would never normally drink it there.

FoxMulder · 24/10/2016 17:06

I'm also drinking lots of milk and never normally do.

Badgerbird · 24/10/2016 17:10

I've got my booking in appointment tomoz and I've not been given a pee pot atall!! Spose I'll use an old water bottle?!?

lucy I'm booking my harmony scan for fri or sat too when I'll be 10.1/10.2, also (hideously) nervous as had early scan at 7.1 which seems a lifetime ago Confused With regards to harmony and NHS nuchal doesn't the nuchal show up other possible issues though? I'm also v confused by this.

tea I just got Tara Lee pregnancy and beyond yoga DVD for my bday. I did ask for it but it made me giggle as I unwrapped it just now as I can just about drag myself through the day, not sure when I'm going to be doing yoga?!? I did loads of fertility yoga before getting preggo though so sure I'll get back into it when I feel a bit more human. Are you looking for anything in particular? I have visions of me doing squats and push ups.... not sure when!!?

Welcome and congratulations sausage !! I totally understand how you feel as have similar history, here's hoping you feel more reassured after your scan :)

lucieloos · 24/10/2016 17:25

Badger, I know how you feel. My last scan was 2.5 weeks ago and I just can't help but worry something might have gone wrong in the meantime! Going to have really bad scanxiety come Saturday! I asked the midwife about the nuchal and she said it was just to test for downs and I think that is its primary purpose but from reading up it can also be a potential marker for other things like spina bifida and possibly trisomys so whilst it doesn't directly test for them it might possibly indicate further investigation is necessary. None of it is very clear really but I think I've decided to have them both. The nuchal is free and I'm having the scan anyway so may as well just get it done and just have to hope that and the harmony come back low risk.

teainbed · 24/10/2016 18:32

lala I hope we do get it! I read the 1st of Jan I didn't see anything about a pilot. Off to Google.

badger I was looking at that one, also Erin O'Connor. I have done the Davina one before but it's a bit easy.

The scan at 12 weeks will date the pregnancy and look for other signs that things are progressing normally like head shape. They will do the nuchal and take your bloods and that combined gives you your risk scores for the trisomies. I've had Harmony and they told me not to get the blood done but it was fine to get the nuchal measurement done and if it was thin then don't bother getting the bloods done. I think the logic is that you could get a worse ratio on your NHS test having had a 'low risk' number on the Harmony which confuses the issue.

TheTantrumCometh · 24/10/2016 19:03

Just joining everyone (though I'm shit at keeping up with threads like these Halloween Blush). I've name changed as no one irl knows I'm pregnant.

10 weeks today and due on 22nd with a very unexpected #3. Had my booking in appointment today and it was very weird going back to the hospital. At first I actually felt like I didn't belong there, but my brain is slowly catching up with the fact that this is actually happening Halloween Grin.

Just got to wait for the scan now which is the 8th November. I've noticed they've put up the price of the scan photos since I had my previous two. Does anyone else's trust charge for theirs?

TheTantrumCometh · 24/10/2016 19:06

They gave me a pot at my booking in appointment to do during the appointment. Actually I needed a wee when I got to reception so the receptionist said not to waste it and gave me a pot there and then Halloween Grin

Be prepared to pee on queue for the remainder of your pregnancy, though that's actually easier than it seems when you end up needing to go all the time!

Sonnet18 · 24/10/2016 19:10

tea I'm in Scotland too- any ideas what areas the baby boxes will be coming to? A freebie is always exciting!

RasperryInAMelon · 24/10/2016 19:11

Tantrum mine charges £3 a picture

4sacharm · 24/10/2016 19:42

Welcome new folk and congratulations!

I have my scan tomorrow am sooooooo nervous my husband keeps saying look how big you are of course there is s growing baby inside! Shock My mum did not react well to the news that we are expecting again, so I actually have told no one else in real life, am not even keen to tell people tomorrow after the scan! Anyone else had negative reaction from telling people? X

MrsJW15 · 24/10/2016 19:46

Hello, I've (nervously) come to join you. I'm 11 weeks now, scan a week tomorrow. I actually had a private reassurance scan at 8 weeks but I'm still nervous that something will have gone wrong. Pretty excited as well, assuming all is well, I can't wait to tell everyone.

shimmysparkles · 24/10/2016 20:00

Hi everyone, welcome to all the newbies , we had our 12 week scan. So lovely and reassuring. Bump is huge already and work mates starting to guess so will have to fess up soon.

teainbed · 24/10/2016 20:08

sonnet the Finnish ones have a box with a mattress and inside is loads of stuff like clothes, nappies, a breast pump and bottle, all sorts and it varies from year to year. No idea what we'll get! I didn't get far with Google couldn't find any concrete details on dates or anything. Other than a competition to design it.

4s I'm dreading telling my mum too. Sorry to hear about your mums reaction. Hope you're ok.

Well my Harmony just came back as low risk for everything, hurrah! 12 week scan tomorrow so will get nuchal done but not bloods.

TheTantrumCometh · 24/10/2016 20:29

That's roughly the same as mine. £5 for two pictures or 5 for £10. It used to just be a flat £5 fee and you'd get anywhere between 4-8.

I'd be quite happy with just two but I think my other DC's might want more

Ghostonthedancefloor · 24/10/2016 20:42

4s I was exactly the same about telling my folks (this is dc3). My mum was surprisingly fine, happy even! My dad on the other hand, didn't speak to me when I went to visit the next day, and sent me the most formal text the following day which broke my heart as it was as if a friend I had fallen out with or something had written it, not my dad.

I bet yours won't be half as bad! Good luck x

Adventuregame · 24/10/2016 20:48

Hi all. Just checking in from my wish it could be much hotter bath !! Haha
10+5 today. Scan next week. If I get to Saturday without bleeding then that's the point I was at before mmc so I'm sure lots of nerves will be around by the weekend.
Still getting nauseous but boobs don't seem as painful. Long since given up worrying about symptoms as they come and go almost on a daily basis.

I plan to have Harmony but can't fit it in til I'm about 15 weeks so hoping 12 wk scan will come back as low risk then harmony as a more precise result but will have to wait and see.

Very busy thread today. 10 weeks tomorrow and I feel weirdly normal today. Have been gradually feeling better but today I don't feel pregnant. Scan not for another 2 weeks. I think it will be a long wait and I'm a bit anxious now.
