Nervous, Streaky.... what time tomorrow, I'm hovering between terrified and on the ceiling excited for mine at 10 GrinConfusedSad

On a practical note, I always thought that for this scan you needed to have a full bladder but my letter says nothing about that, it dedicates about 2 lines to the scan and focuses more on if you need transport, the fact you can't smoke and what to do if you need to cancel - helpful! So what do I do? Drink lots or not? Confused

teainbed · 08/11/2016 16:14

I was on the 5mg folic acid too as I've diabetes. I think if you've got something like that already or epilepsy you're probably quite clued up as its drummed into you at every appointment but I don't think it's well known about otherwise. My sister had a higher BMI and took 5mg but she only knew about it because she went to the nurse for a pre conceptual health check.

Adventure, I'm a positive blood group so that's not a worry. The bruising's really starting to set in now - I don't think I've ever had bruised boobs before - and I ache all over but no specific baby pains.

Hope your new venture works out xx

Sunflower30 · 08/11/2016 17:49

Had my 12 week scan today. So relieved it is done and everything looks good so far! I had been so worried. Feel like I can tell it's a boy too Smile what do you think?

My letter also said no need for a full bladder but the sonographer said it was good that I did have, made it much easier and we got some lovely clear pictures too.

Good luck to those having a scan tomorrow, hope everything goes well.

I am having a wobble too adventure, not helped by the fact I applied for a new job before I was pregnant and then accepted and now I'm panicking I'm being ridiculous to start a job for 2.5 months then go on mat leave for ages! I feel like I can't make the right decision.

Sorry to hear of your fall Damson, sounds like you buffered your fall well. I remember my heavily pregnant sister slipped and fell direct on bump but all was fine, I think they are very resilient.

The full bladder thing confused me so much before the scan rise. The letter said no need for full bladder, so I went before travelling to the hospital, but then DH fed me one of his home made smoothies whilst we were waiting and it obviously got full as they politely told me it was too full to see the baby properly. All I had to do was go and empty it though so no big deal. Not sure why it seems to vary so much hospital to hospital.

Great scan sunflower! I think girl is possible as the nub is reasonably parallel, though if it's on or before 12 weeks it's less accurate and I'm certainly no expert. Congratulations!

Good luck to all those with scans tomorrow.

1004Rise · 08/11/2016 18:27

Sunflower that's a great clear picture, congrats on a good scan today.

I think we're all going to have wobbles over the next few months, I'm applying for promotion and there's a whole section of the form that is about potential and all I can think about is not being there for most of the year next year how can that possibly display potential.... and I haven't told work yet so I feel a bit deceitful asking people to support me. I just have to keep reminding myself it's about the work I've already done... It's reassuring to know I'm not the only one, particularly since we haven't told anyone anything yet. Smile

TheTantrumCometh · 08/11/2016 18:45

That's such a clear picture Sunflower, congratulations.

Scan was a mixed bag today. Baby seems all ok and I could clearly see him/her moving so all positive on that front.

Unfortunately baby was sat right under my scar tissue from my cs with ds so the picture was really unclear. Baby refused to budge so the sonographer tried an internal scan and although she had a bit more success, she still couldn't do the screening measurement at the back of baby's neck. She said that it didn't look big but she couldn't get anything accurate enough.

She charged us less for the pictures though and baby seems fine. I've been rebooked for the quad test in a few weeks.

They also dated me a few days behind so instead of being 12+1 I'm now 11+5

Rabbitykins55 · 08/11/2016 18:57

For those asking about vitamins... I was given a weeks worth of pregncare ones at my booking in appointment, they were in my bounty pack, midwife told me to take them when my other ones (boots folic acid and vitamin d) had run out but to not bother paying out for them as they are the same as Tesco own etc. When I joined the Boots parenting club I was sent a voucher for a back of free 30 Boots own folic acid, vitamin d and b so I'm now taking those. It's all a bit of a mine field isn't it!

Adventuregame · 08/11/2016 19:36

Glad there are a few of us with worries or having a wobble - makes me feel like I just need to get thro it. I've just never been very good with change or the unknown so this is testing all my natural instincts to worry.

Those who've had the 12 week scan and are starting to feel better - not as sick and tired - are you just feeling not pregnant now ? I feel almost normal !!

Damson9 · 08/11/2016 19:51

Lovely pic Sunflower :)

I'm 14+4 now and have pretty much felt unpregnant for the last couple of weeks - the departure of symptoms, while welcome, does leave you feeling kind of weird, no?

teainbed · 08/11/2016 19:53

Lovely scan pic Sunflower!

Sonnet18 · 08/11/2016 19:53

I still feel a little sick at certain stages...usually after work when I need to feed and bathe DD so think I'm more shattered than anything. I'm still really tired at night , which had eased by this stage during my first pregnancy. Bed in half an hour or so for me! Hoping it lifts soon!

lucieloos · 08/11/2016 19:58

I still feel as sick and nauseous as ever. I'm 11+3 today. I wish my symptoms would disappear even if just for a couple of days Confused

talulahbelle · 08/11/2016 20:16

12+6 here and the sickness is lifting. I'm still pretty shattered by the time bedtime comes around though.
Vitamin wise I've just been taking folic acid and vitamin D. Plus the occasional Berocca if I remembered. All the other horse pills made me sick.
I have just bought a lot of Spatone though, I was a little anemic with DD by the end of pregnancy so hopefully this will stave it off.

MrsJW15 · 08/11/2016 21:15

13+4 and the nausea has mostly gone. I get it mildly occasionally but it's totally different. Still very tired but I do feel different. My bloating is terrible though and my stomach is quite uncomfortable in the evening which reassures me that I am pregnant!

Pugsymalone · 08/11/2016 21:37

Had another bleed today! Panic stations at the ready , straight into the hosp , baby is fine but measuring smaller than I thought was meant to be 11w5d but measuring 9w5d bit upset and that means ive another 2 weeks to panic until I hit 12 week mark , but anyways here's the bean! Have another scan to confirm that I am only 9w so if I am ️️️️il be leaving the May babies 😢😢

dreamofhungarianlanterns · 08/11/2016 22:13

Lovely scan pictures - good luck for those tomorrow or later this week.

I told the folks in my service area at work today, or more accurately I left out a load of jelly babies and mini babybel out and let them work it out. At 14+6 some of them admitted to having been secretly laughing at me trying to do my coat up for ages thank god! The queue for hugs was really touching. Lovely day.

dreamofhungarianlanterns · 08/11/2016 22:17

The queue for hugs was really touching !!

I mean it felt really nice that other people were happy about it Smile

Brightsmoke · 09/11/2016 06:21

Adventure, I've not had any symptoms for a while now, other than one blip feeling sick, so I feel completely 'normal'! It's nice to feel more human again!

Hope all scans go well today. I'm 15 weeks today and now counting down the days until my holiday on Saturday, so glad I don't feel sick going on a plane!

Streaky17 · 09/11/2016 07:25

Hugs pugsy during the next 2 weeks. Hope it turns out well.

I dreamt about the scan - hilarious. Dead turkey, child-like misbehaving of oh, my mum being chucked out and me and scan being completely ignored by the scanner.

My real scan is at 9.15, fingers crossed.
