Ladies, I need help!!

Out of no where I have been hit with a stinking cold, not usually one to complain but my throat is like a razor blade and sinuses so blocked my face feels swollen Sad
Is there anything I can take (safely) ??? Strepsils? Lemsip?? Anything!?!?!?

RasperryInAMelon · 07/11/2016 09:07

Gurtie I was such a few weeks back, very similar and was told by GP and Pharmacist to gargle salt water and drink lemon and honey. Was on the mend within a few days! Hope you feel better soon!! Flowers

McBaby · 07/11/2016 09:16

Jojo have some over the bump mat jeans on sale for £10. Plus some other cheap stuff.

Loving my gap over the bump straight leg jeans, the best trousers I have had in 3 pregnancies!

MissMooMoo · 07/11/2016 09:32

I told my boss this morning!
Feel so much better now. I work as a nanny and was dreading it because it is such a personal job.
They seemed genuinely happy for me and the children are excited.

I also feel like I have more energy now (12+5) ,I was up until 11 last night, haven't been sick for nearly a week.

crazyzooo · 07/11/2016 10:00

Just wondering what sort of exercise you're all able to do? Having had to eat my way through the nausea I have managed to gain 3kg already at 12+3... I am normally quite active with running, dog walking and horse riding. Running makes me feel sick and my horse is very unpredictable so they're both out. Have been swimming 3-4 times a week and walking between 5-10k/day instead. Also thought I'd try some pregnancy yoga before my core muscles completely give up the fight... Any recommendations?

RasperryInAMelon · 07/11/2016 10:03

McBaby are the JoJo jeans in store only? Can't seem to see them online Sad

MissMoo such a good feeling and means that they can take things into account better for you!

Crazy you're doing so well, I literally have zero energy! Struggling to walk to the station in the mornings let alone do anything else, to the point that I shamefully cancelled my gym membership over the weekend.

Lots of ladies have scans booked for this week??

lucieloos · 07/11/2016 10:31

Good luck for all the scans this week! I'm meant to be getting the results of my harmony test this afternoon. I'm so so nervous I don't know how I will be able to look at the result!

I bought a pack of 2 leggings from mothercare this weekend but am taking them back. I tried them on around the house and I could feel them getting baggy and the material was quite thin. They had a nicer pair in a single pack for the same price so I'm going to swap for those.

beachsands · 07/11/2016 10:41

Well I was a little sick this morning. But overall I've much more energy. I was reading til 11 last night! Symptoms wise I do have some cramps and back pain not as bad since I was complaining on Saturday. Now I've (tmi) the dreaded constipation. Blush . Plan on telling my boss after the scan. I think I just want it out there and not worry about covering the massive bloated stomach.

Gurtie28 · 07/11/2016 10:52

Thank you rasperry ill give gargling a go!

MrsJW15 · 07/11/2016 10:58

crazy I'd say you are doing pretty well on exercise! I got back into running last week (at 12 weeks) after a six week gap, but only short distances. I'm also using the crosstrainer at the gym and some light weights. I want to swim, but finding a pool that's not at a crazy expensive gym is hard!

Next issue is finding some new gym stuff that fits!

RasperryInAMelon · 07/11/2016 11:06

Beach I'm with you on the constipation front Blush feel as though I need to go every time I go to the bathroom... but nothing Sad

I hear it's pretty normal though, I've asked DH to go and get me plenty of fruit and fresh orange juice today to see if that helps. Perhaps that's what's also causing my cramps??

Adventuregame · 07/11/2016 11:29

We told lots of people this weekend and it's a relief not to hide it anymore. 13+1 today and feel much more like my normal self. No retching although I had a mouthful of cereal this morning and promptly spat it back out ! Booked my Harmony test for 2 weeks time. Haven't received my nuchal results yet but didn't get a phone call so presuming low risk ? Hoping Harmony will just be extra reassurance and also another chance to have a scan !

Hi everyone,
So pleased to hear lots of you are starting to puke less, especially you fox, I know you had it really bad. You're giving me hope! I'm 11+4 and still struggling with the intense nausea tbh. Last week was dark, but I think it's changing and shifting around in pattern rather than just being relentless now.

I'm desperate to start swimming again for my sanity but feel really faint now during the day. Anyone else have that? Think I might have an iron issue, they said it was low on my booking in but the multi-vits have been off the menu due to the sickness.

gurtie sorry to hear you're ill. Another drug free suggestion-I (skim) read a book yesterday about bone broths ('nourishing broths, an old fashioned remedy for the modern world').
If you're not veggie and can persuade someone to make a batch or live near a ramen restaurant, bone broth is supposed to have anti-bacterial and anti-viral properties. I remember also eating mashed raw garlic cloves with olive oil on toast during a bad bout of tonsillitis (same principle with the antibacterial garlic). Lemsip it isn't (sadly), but can't hurt and might help!

lucie good luck with the harmony results, I hope they are perfect. I get mine a week tomorrow. Can't bring myself to think this is happening until I know... time moving so so slowly!

Badgerbird · 07/11/2016 11:35

Welcome and congratulations glitter! Hope you can keep your mind occupied till your scan on fri ;)

missy bet that feels better doesn't it?! I'm a nanny (one of my jobs) and told boss the other week, such a relief! I've been with the family 10 yrs and they know we are trying and about the mmc's so she was so pleased :) Haven't told kids yet but they know something's going on, it's hysterical! 10 yr old twins, the boy keeps looking at me and asking why my boobs keep growing, poking my tummy etc!! They are both sooooo huggy and clingy to me at the minute too, it's like they can smell it!! Love them Smile Can't wait to tell them. How old are your charges?

PowerofThree · 07/11/2016 11:57

Bit fed up with pregnancy symptoms at the moment - 13 weeks now and far from getting better, last week was the first week that I was sick every morning. Still getting headaches and no energy so spend most mornings in bed. But I have a project deadline looming and house stuff to do so could really have done with a break about now Sad I've managed one pilates session but otherwise exercise is a distant memory.

Sorry for the mopey rant! Hope others are feeling better and good luck for any upcoming scans.

1004Rise · 07/11/2016 12:06

Adventure that was my worry with jeans just now too, I have a couple of pairs of Superdry skinny jeans that have so much Lycra in them and sit so low I've sort of designated them as under bump for now.

I can no longer fit I'm my normal leggings, feel like they cut me in half so I'm sticking to maternity tights, dresses and chunky jumpers for now (after washing Boots tights seem to have fared better than ASOS but that might also be 60 vs 40 denier)

Gurtie you sound like me a couple of weeks ago, few things fresh lemon slices and a spoonful of honey in boiling water works well, I also went to the pharmacy and the honey, lemon & glycerin cough/sore throat medicine is fine as are locket type throat sweets, I took paracetamol to get me to sleep at night and although it's ok to take I didn't want to take it all the time because it reduces the effect and I wanted it to knock me outHmm

I'm still being sick in the morning and in the evening, so much for hitting the magic 12 weeks and it all going away (I realise this was a forlorn hope!) still constantly starving as well although feeling virtuous today as I managed to cut up some carrot sticks to munch on rather than biscuits Grin

Crazy I'm amazed that you have that much energy I keep looking guiltily at my yoga mat and road bike on the turbo trainer, although I think if I did any yoga now I'd probably fall asleep in most of the poses! We went for a 2 hour walk with the dogs on Sunday and I was nearly asleep in the car on the way home.

www.jojomamanbebe.co.uk/dark-wash-straight-leg-maternity-jeans-b4962.html

They are £5! Have look in the jojo outlet section.

McBaby · 07/11/2016 12:38

But they now only have some size 6 left!!

crazyzooo · 07/11/2016 13:02

Thank you Raspberry and mrsJW15 for your encouraging words... I feel like a large gelatenous, spotty, greasy haired blob Grin. This would be so much easier if I wasn't so HUNGRY!!

Good luck with your Harmony results lucie adventure and mighty. I had mine last week and was so scared!! All good though and it has the added advantage of finding out if it's boy or a girl (if you want to know of course).

Sorry you're feeling poorly mighty and power. I find I get really quite light headed during the day if I don't drink enough water.... Probably getting through 3+L/day... Also, almonds are supposed to be good for iron (and they were one of the only things I could eat in the morning for weeks).

MissMooMoo · 07/11/2016 13:04

badger they are 3,6&8.
The 3 yr old seems to have a sixth sense and has been asking me for weeks if I have a baby in my tummy!

RasperryInAMelon · 07/11/2016 13:11

Adventure good to hear you're starting to feel better!

Mighty I've been feeling pretty light headed too, particularly in the shower which isn't great! DH now feels the need to sit in there with me bless him.

Power I'm with you, today I just kinda feel over the whole feeling shitty thing. Just not feeling it, that tied with work - is quite like to just go home!

McBaby damn it! No way my arse is going in a 6! Although I'm more of a skinny jeans kinda gal!

McBaby · 07/11/2016 13:21

We took told my girls 2&4 that there is a baby in my tummy yesterday. (In the hope they will stop jumping on me and worrying when I keep being sick). They are both very excited.

stationaryace · 07/11/2016 13:33

I found all Bio Oil did for me last time was give me a greasy belly. Which is probably a good thing as the chances of me managing to oil myself twice a day with missy underfoot is pretty much nil. I knew I'd get stretch marks as I had some when I was younger.

I'm not so keen on skinny jeans but unfortunately most of the maternity trousers seem to be skinny. Or dungarees - I'm not wearing dungarees, it'll be such a faff to get to the toilet and it's already challenging enough squished into a cubicle with a bag and a toddler trying to help when out and about Hmm I might have to resign myself to stripey tops as I'm not really keen on the tents which seem to be the other option.

MrsJW15 · 07/11/2016 14:22

stationary I cannot understand why there are so many maternity dungarees out there!

stationaryace · 07/11/2016 14:30

MrsJ clearly designed by people who've not had to wear them.

Just scoffed a Lindt bunny from Easter (I hid them too well) and it tastes funny Sad It'll be good for my waistline but the number of foods that I still like is rapidly reducing. I can't live on salt & vinegar crisps and apples!
