Sonnet - good advice. I think the shoulder pain was from my bra !! I'm staying off google, trying to relax and be positive about tomorrow's scan !! What time is yours ? Mine is 9am and I should be 12 weeks exactly.

Scan day has arrived for me finally - it's this evening so I have a whole day of work to get through first. I'm impressed having read the letter again that they offer the Harmony to anyone with a calculated risk of 1:500 or higher.

Must give the whole saving for maternity leave some proper thought but at this stage I'm concerned we need to move as we have no bath and no possibility of fitting one, though there must be some way around that, I hope!

RasperryInAMelon · 01/11/2016 09:35

Peach you can buy baby baths, alternatively - my friend is still doing her little one in the sink! Once he's big enough he'll get in the shower with her but sit on the floor Grin

FoxMulder · 01/11/2016 09:38

I'm not going to be able to save, I only went back to work 6 hours a week after having DS!

FoxMulder · 01/11/2016 09:41

Yeah, a baby bath will work for a couple of years.

newbieho · 01/11/2016 09:51

Peach are you having your scan at King's? They offered me the test as well. The team is really nice there. Good luck!

1004Rise · 01/11/2016 09:56

Hmmm... saving... things you don't think about! I'm lucky to have a really good maternity policy so think I can get to 6 months with holidays and only 3 weeks of SMP. I think after 6 months I'll need to go back to work or I'll go crazy!

We're also thinking about moving (we were anyway) to be closer to family, this has made it a bit more urgent now... nothing like trying to do everything at once!

lullaby23 · 01/11/2016 10:02

To those having niggly pain on one side it could be what I had picked up on my early scan which was a corpus luteum cyst. Totally harmless and goes away by itself.

Great news on all the recent scans and good luck to everyone who's got theirs soon.

PeachIcedT · 01/11/2016 11:19

Newbieho yes it's Kings, I've heard very good things so I'm hopeful I'll be in good hands.

That's good to know people manage ok without a bath raspberry, going in the shower with the baby too might mean I get to have a wash too - that's something I read you take for granted until the baby comes along.

Badgerbird · 01/11/2016 11:28

peach good luck this eve and that's great news about harmony!

adventure sorry to hear about your shoulder pain but it would be good if it was just bra strap!! I suppose if it is a cyst then it will be picked up on tomorrow's scan along with wriggly healthy baby :)

stationary maybe keep some shoes in the car just in case ;)

Peach- I know a family without a bath who showered with their newborn in some sort of permeable sling. He has never had a bath.

MrsJW15 · 01/11/2016 14:19

Hi all, back from my scan and a lovely wriggly bean. Very relieved and excited to finally tell everyone!

JulyLady7 · 01/11/2016 14:33

Congratulations MrsJW, how exciting and you must be so relieved! Excellent news Smile

RasperryInAMelon · 01/11/2016 14:34

I've had two people casually ask me at work today if I'm pregnant... anyone else had this?

DH and I decided early on that whilst we weren't 'telling' people... if anyone asked we wouldn't lie

AnneLovesGilbert · 01/11/2016 14:42

Fab news MrsJW15, so pleased for you Smile I can't wait to tell people!

Rasperry, it's happened to be twice, in week 8! I was absolutely stunned by the sheer rudeness of it. The first time I blushed and mumbled and fessed up, when it happened again a couple of days later I was more prepared, definitely didn't want the other work colleague I was with to know, and lied.

I think it's fine to say you are, but also that it's early days and you'd prefer not to talk about it.

AnneLovesGilbert · 01/11/2016 14:43

Also, I think you said you got married recently, same here, and I know people have been expecting us to get on the baby making (despite us not saying we were, at all) so they feel more comfortable asking!

RasperryInAMelon · 01/11/2016 14:55

Anne I did! In August so this is 100% a honeymoon baby!

I don't know if anyone at work was expecting it, whilst DH and I had planned to try straight away, I've only been in my job for just under 4 months so fibbed at my interviews and said we had no intention at all.

Granted we didn't think we'd fall quite so quickly!

Anyone who has asked I've asked them not to say anything. But simply because of just how big I've gotten (everyone's surprised when I tell them I'll be 11 weeks on Friday, people think I'm nearer 4/5 months!) we've had 4 weddings to go to since finding out and it's been easier to tell all of our friends now so to not have awkward conversations at events when it's not our day.

Flingmoo · 01/11/2016 15:25

Sorry to derail the civilised conversation but I have an announcement to make... the dreaded pregnancy farts have started here Blush I forgot about this awkward side effect. Hope I'm not the only one Blush

AnneLovesGilbert · 01/11/2016 15:30

Mamushka Grin A joy yet to come for me! How long does it last?

That's lovely Raspberry, ours was in June. Best day of my life Smile We were hoping for a honeymoon baby but we moved house in August and spent every spare moment decorating so I'm thankful in a way it waited till after, and I get to do the whole with you lovely lot, which has been a totally unexpected benefit and something I'm so grateful for.

I'm 100% sure they shouldn't have asked you about your intentions at your interview btw, isn't that illegal?! Hope they're being fair, above board and supportive now you are pregnant.

RasperryInAMelon · 01/11/2016 15:45

Mamushka... beat you to it a few weeks ago with that one I'm afraid... I'm not a particularly gassy person but am having to leave the room a lot at the moment! Blush

I work in HR myself Anne it was more of a general chit chat about my plans and intentions over the next 5 years career wise etc. Such an amazing company to work for and although the maternity pay package is AWFUL they are being super supportive! Thankfully working in a hotel environment means you always have an option for a lie down should you need it!

Badgerbird · 01/11/2016 15:52

mamushka you're not alone!! Generally worse in eves for me, poor DH! Blush

WhT lovely news mrsjw, congrats!

AnneLovesGilbert · 01/11/2016 15:57

Okay, that's good Rasperry Smile Sorry for going in all guns blazing! And very glad to hear they're being so supportive. Mmm to daytime naps. I've dozed in the sick room but only at lunchtime.

1004Rise · 01/11/2016 16:09

Raspberry I was going to go in all guns blazing on the they asked you what at interview!! I'm glad they're being supportive!

Luckily I work from home most of the time so no one can see my mini bump, I was more worried in the early weeks when working away from home and thinking up excuses for no alcohol.... Looking forward to my scan next week so I can tell peopleSmile

Fortunately no pregnancy gas for me yet I did spend most of yesterday in tears though which is a new one... I'd accepted that crying at bake off was ridiculous enough but to cry because my dog is lovely and cuddly is officially insane!! Hmm

MissMooMoo · 01/11/2016 16:15

Oh as soon as you get married people think your fertility is up for discussion! DH and I were married a year before we fell pregnant this time. I had attended so many social events where I made sure people saw me drinking in the 12 months beforehand.
