Right... someone else just stopped me in the bathroom at work too!... the problem is I can ask people not to say anything but work places are gossip mills so it won't be long!

Badgerbird · 01/11/2016 16:29

raspberry a honeymoon baby! How fab :) we are having a wedding anniversary baby Smile

With regards maternity leave we are both self employed and not very big earners so have been saving up for a while. I'd like to have 4 months with £1000 per month to cover my side of bills and baby activities etc Hoping I will be able to take baby to one of my jobs when I go back. I'm mainly hoping my jobs will want/need me back after mat leave!!

Sipperskipper · 01/11/2016 16:55

Pleased to hear about everyone's lovely scans!

Flingmoo · 01/11/2016 16:56

Oh as soon as you get married people think your fertility is up for discussion! It doesn't stop once you've had the baby either! DS is 2.5 and ever since he was born I've been getting "So when are you having the next one then?" or "Come on, you've got to give him a brother or sister!" etc from relatives. Actually the choice to have a second baby was not that easy for us. So I didn't appreciate the constant pressure from relatives. Even now I sometimes have doubts about whether we've made the right decision!

Presumably after the second one comes they'll be asking "So is that it now or are you going for a third?!"

Argh I know they mean well but it's actually quite irritating.

RasperryInAMelon · 01/11/2016 17:24

And so my day gets worse... neither of my parents were listening when I gave them a photo from our early scan telling them we were only 8+5 and that we aren't telling people yet...

Turns out my mums been telling people she works with, who I went to school with for weeks!

I'm fucking heartbroken... Sad

Flingmoo · 01/11/2016 18:03

That sucks Rasperry Sad How annoying. Do your close friends know yet?

EsmesBees · 01/11/2016 18:06

That is annoying Rasberry. Were they just excited or do they tend to have selective hearing?

Streaky17 · 01/11/2016 18:11

Wow what a busy day here!

Good news on the scan Mrsjw!

I accidentally told two friends this week but I feel guilty because I told the oh he mustn't!

We are doing it the other time honoured fashion and having a shotgun wedding - joking! It was just the motivation we needed having been together for yonks and engaged for ages.

raspberry how annoying. I'm sure she didn't mean it. Hugs!

McBaby · 01/11/2016 18:36

Has any one else had an upset tummy following their flu jab?

RasperryInAMelon · 01/11/2016 18:40

Most of our close friends know - we've had a lot of events to go to since finding out and it's waaaaaay too obvious so was easier just to tell them.

It's not like she's done it out of spite I'm sure, doesn't make me any less angry right now though Angry

FoxMulder · 01/11/2016 19:06

This baby is a "let's throw caution to the wind this one time - my app says I am well out of my fertile window" one Grin

My mum said "so have you told them your news??" in front of my extended family. I had no choice then!

I'm not farty but am really burpy!

teainbed · 01/11/2016 20:13

Lots of scans on here today! Has everyone had one now?

Raspberry that sounds annoying. Absolutely nobody at my work has said anything so they've probably not noticed. If you're very slim normally and you've now got a little bump tough it's quite obvious. I've been wearing scarves and cardigans a lot!

That said I will have to say something now as I'm 14 weeks tomorrow! Still feel surprisingly rubbish pretty sure I felt better by the second trimester in previous pregnancies.

Got lovely jeans today from Seraphine can really recommend them for maternity clothes. Also got leggings and tights from ASOS.

MyGiddyUncle · 01/11/2016 20:17

I'm roughly 12 + 1 today and don't have my scan for another 2 weeks. I did have an early scan when they thought I was 9 weeks and they said they wouldn't book the 'actual' scan for another 5. It seems like forever!

1004Rise · 01/11/2016 20:22

Tea still have to wait another week for mine (will be 12+3 I think) seems like forever!

PowerofThree · 01/11/2016 20:25

Congrats to everyone who's had scans in the last few days!

I had my scan today - another active one. Waved a hand and bounced which set me off giggling which didn't help... due date confirmed for 15th May.

Good luck to anyone with scans coming up over next few days.

RasperryInAMelon · 01/11/2016 20:29

Tea I had an early scan at 8+5 just to date things as my midwife and GP wouldn't believe me on my dates... I was 4 weeks when I found out so I'd be going mad if I had to wait till Nov 15th for my first scan!!

crazyzooo · 01/11/2016 20:47

Just had my harmony results back... 1/10000 for T13/18/21 which is great news! And.... it's a little boy. So excited Smile . Wish the "12" week scan would hurry up so we can tell OH family and friends! Mine know (I would want their support of anything went wrong) but he doesn't want to share with his side until after the scan!

PeachIcedT · 01/11/2016 20:55

It's been so active on here today! I'm trying to keep up with everything - congratulations powerofthree and MrsJW15 on your scans today and on the harmony results crazyzoo. And for the shower conversion suggestions!

Back from my successful scan - very wriggly baby is in there alright, just difficult to take in when you've barely had any symptoms. Low risk for the Trisomys so no Harmony needed. It was a fascinating experience and the hospital was so impressive that I've booked in for the 20 week scan there too.

PeachIcedT · 01/11/2016 20:57

Also any thoughts on gender I'd love to hear as I really want to find out Grin

growcookeat · 01/11/2016 21:04

Ah glad to hear you enjoyed your scan mrs.
Fox, like you I have been sooo burpy! DH keeps joking that I'm trying to compete with him! It's embarrassing after lunch at work though!

I told work today and they were great, made 3 people cry happy tears for me which is lovely. Now they all keep giving me knowing looks and bits of advice it's seeming much more real! Btw lots of people advising to make the most of going out for dinner/cinema etc as it's never the same again.

So finances - well I think we're where we hoped to be in terms of savings but my maternity pay is not amazing. Am a teacher though so will hopefully benefit from timing of school hols when I leave/go back. Thinking I will have 9 months to a year off but not sure how I'll feel yet.

growcookeat · 01/11/2016 21:05

Oops missed your scan power and peach! Lovely pic Smile

MrsJW15 · 01/11/2016 21:16

I've celebrated the 12 week scan with some big online shopping orders! Nothing too exciting really, just ASOS and TopShop, but I wanted to try a few things from each - I'm sure I'll send half of it back. But I'm pretty excited for maternity leggings.

Streaky17 · 01/11/2016 21:45

When does the hunger stop??? I felt fine 10 mins ago and now starving again.

Great pic peach

mcbaby I ended up with a cold/sneezy after my jab that may have been coincidental!

PowerofThree · 01/11/2016 22:20

Lovely scan peach

Flingmoo · 01/11/2016 22:51

Sorry Streaky, the hunger never stops, it just increases until the end of pregnancy, and even then it continues, especially if you breastfeed! Grin
