Some reassuring info if it helps:

"Research amongst women with a history of recurrent miscarriage has shown that [...] seeing a heartbeat at 8 weeks increased the chance of a continuing pregnancy to 98% and at 10 weeks that went up to 99.4%. The numbers may be even more positive for women without previous miscarriages."

www.miscarriageassociation.org.uk/information/ultrasound-scans/

I can't believe I have to wait 19 more days to be reassured though Sad

lucieloos · 26/10/2016 21:56

That is quite reassuring thanks mamushka. We saw the heartbeat at 8 weeks and have a 10 week scan on Saturday but I know I'm still going to be terrified anyway!

Badgerbird · 26/10/2016 22:05

Eeek lucie we've got our 10.2 scan on Sat too!!!!

Sunflower30 · 26/10/2016 22:23

northern I could tell my 2nd baby was a boy from his 12 week scan, the nub was so clear I was never in any doubt. You need just the right angle though, it can be so tricky to spot.

lucieloos · 26/10/2016 22:29

Eeekk good luck badger! Hope it goes well for us both.

AnneLovesGilbert · 26/10/2016 23:10

Had a horrible panic this evening and for no real reason. I had loads of cramps for the first 7 or 8 weeks, just got used to it. Then it stopped and I've had nothing till tonight. It was like mild very low period pain.

No bleeding, no back ache, not as sore as it was before and some nausea back again. Like an idiot I poas as if that would tell me anything! Strongest quickest bfp ever, obviously.

DH googled and reassured me it's perfectly normal, which I know. And I'm riddled with pg symptoms.

But the panic showed up so quickly as I haven't had a cramp for weeks.

Feel like an idiot as its fading now but I've been pottering around trying to distract myself rubbing my belly.

When did I become this anxious mad lady? Shock

IceNoSlice · 27/10/2016 04:54

Hello everyone. I posted on the first thread but been AWOL since and see things have moved on! I've read this thread but skipped #2. Hope everyone is ok.

Scan next week. Excited :-)

Cinnamon re off-road pushchair. Have a look at the Out'n'About Nipper 360. We also live rurally and we take this on rutted tracks with ease. Quite bulky and heavy but really light to push, well balanced and turns on a penny. Not amazing for a brand new baby (not sure if there is a carrycot but we didn't have one) but excellent from a few months old to pre-school. We loved it so much we bought a double as well for DC2. I also agree about slings - I got really into slings with DC2 and a soft one like Caboo or VSL was brilliant especially for a newborn.

Folks having DC3: any advice on car seat options please?

ImYourWomanJonSnow · 27/10/2016 05:03

mamushka thanks for that, stats do help, but my last ms was at 11+4 so I'm being cautious and taking it day by day.

Sonnet18 · 27/10/2016 05:57

Sorry to hear about your miscarriage jonsnow.
Are you getting the NT test? If so, they can't do that until at least 11 plus 6 so I would turn up for the first scan when you'll be 10 weeks then they'll need to book you in for another a week or two later. It's a chance to get an extra little look at the baby for your own sake!

CinnamonTwist · 27/10/2016 07:11

Jonsnow, this pregnancy was following a MC for me too, my scan was booked for 12wks (dated from the MC) but I was actually nearer 11 wks (which I suspected I would be) as we wanted to have the NT test done they rebooked another scan which was for when I was 12+6, and did the testing then. So we got to see baby twice. First time she showed us the HB and we got some pictures. It was really reassuring for me as I had been really worried about another MC. I hope yours helps too.

JulyLady7 · 27/10/2016 07:16

Anne I wish I could be as positive as what you've been on here - everyone is allowed a little wobble! I find that I'm glad to see the return of any symptom, but pain. Lol. Glad you've got a supportive DH with you! Makes all the difference!

RasperryInAMelon · 27/10/2016 07:37

It's so true Anne and July! We've all been there! I was the same the morning of my first scan at 8+5 and no doubt I'll be the same when I go for my 12week too!

Starting to catch up with everyone on the smells front... 😷 my train this morning is full of coffee and BO Sad ☕️

Brightsmoke · 27/10/2016 07:55

Phew, just caught up again!

Hello and congratulations to all the newbies joining :)

I have my 12 week scan tomorrow, will be 12+4 if my initial dates are correct! I did have a scan at 8+5 which dated me exactly where I thought, so will be interesting to see where I'm at now! Very excited to hear baby again.

Nausea disappeared for me a few weeks ago, that was a relief! I hear baby on Doppler fairly often, so feel reassured. Also, I think it was further back on this thread someone said about not hearing baby too often with a Doppler as it could harm them? I wouldn't panic, the Doppler is just a sound amplifier, like a sort of stethoscope that doctors use, so completely harmless.

Hope everyone is doing well today! I'm already fed up with being stuck in the office, no idea how I will last the next 6 months!

JulyLady7 · 27/10/2016 09:23

It's a relief for me to read your post btightsmoke as I think I've convinced myself my nausea disappeared too early. Aside from brushing teeth now, I just get bouts ever feel days.
I am torn with the doppler. I think if I don't know how to find the heartbeat I'll panic!

AnneLovesGilbert · 27/10/2016 09:33

Thank you July and Raspberry x

Feeling better today and have my scan a week tomorrow so excited about that.

Hope everyone's doing okay today Smile

The day by day book is absolutely amazing, can't recommend it enough to anyone who wants a(nother) pregnancy book. The pictures are stunning. Also got DH the Nine months book written for men - it's hilarious!

FoxMulder · 27/10/2016 10:47

My scan is at 11+6. Didn't know that was the cut-off!

Haven't taken any meds in 24 hours and don't feel any worse. Wonder if it's waiting to hit me or if the meds don't actually work!

ImYourWomanJonSnow · 27/10/2016 10:51

Thanks for that Sonnet and Cinnamon, I think I'll go ahead with the date they offered then. Reading the paperwork they sent me NT scan is not mentioned, and I don't remember midwife mentioning it either. I know that they are going to take bloods too and do a few extra tests. It will be good to see the baby next week and will keep my fingers crossed.

(Also apologies if my previous post was negative, a miscarriage at 11+ weeks is very unlikely, and I was very unlucky, I hope I didn't alarm anyone).

Badgerbird · 27/10/2016 11:08

I see a few peoples symptoms are calming down.... can someone please try and reassure me that this is normal as I'm feeling a bit more human this week Confused Did I read somewhere that the placenta starts to take over around 9 weeks which can help relieve symptoms? I'm 10 wks today. Still got symptoms just not as strong, although the midwife did say that the acupuncture is probably helping to be honest...... argh I'm babbling!!

Sorry for all you lovely lot still suffering but lack of symptoms sometimes isnt so great either ;)

Flingmoo · 27/10/2016 11:15

To be honest I'm feeling so crap I'd happily lose my symptoms at this point. 18 days until my first scan though! Shock

MrsJW15 · 27/10/2016 11:17

JonSnow my skin is also spotty - not huge spots, just lots of tiny ones - and a bit grey. I'm a bit reluctant to mess around with new products until after the scan, but I really would like that to go away. I've been using a lot of E45 on my back, shoulders and chest, and the skin there has got better.

Mamushka I had a scan at 8+1 (dated me at 11+5) and no signs of any problems, so I'm very focused on those figures. My scan is Tuesday, and this week is really dragging. I just can't wait to get there. Contemplating telling a few people over the weekend, but worried about jinxing it all.

MrsJW15 · 27/10/2016 11:19

Sorry - last post should have said dated me at 7+5, not 11+5. On my original dates I'm 11+5 today.

Flingmoo · 27/10/2016 11:39

My skin is very spotty too Sad

teainbed · 27/10/2016 11:49

I have a massive painful spot under my jawline. It's so ugly. Sad

I need maternity tights and possibly some trousers or jeans. Work dresses will be ok for another month I think.

I think the symptoms fluctuating is normal as your body gets used to the hormone. But this is the worst trimester for worrying until you've had scans and initial tests all come back ok.

AnneLovesGilbert · 27/10/2016 12:23

Certainly seems normal Badger, as tea says. I know exactly what you mean. I really worried the first few times I wasn't up in the night for a wee, or stayed up beyond 9pm, the first whole day I had no nausea, when the smell of people on public transport didn't want me want to yack. But it's so tiring feeling exhausted and sick, I'm reassured by massive painful boobs and my new belly, I'm glad of feeling better.

I've got the same, loads of tiny spots and sore dry patches MrsJW15, does E45 really work? I'm using a liquid exfoliant and some balm but it's doing nothing.

Sorry you're feeling so shit Mamushka Flowers

LorrieJ · 27/10/2016 12:23

Cheers missmoomoo and esme, waiting for the exemption card is a good plan. My next appointment isn't until early January, I'll be c. 4 mths by then.

I can't wait for the nausea to subside. Come on placenta! Kick in to action!
