Mamushka if it helps, I dreamt about eating donuts last night! And I've been eating a lot of melted cheddar cheese :)

RasperryInAMelon · 26/10/2016 11:27

Mrs JW I'm all over apples and apple juice at the moment! Can't seem to get enough of it and then oddly enough cheese and chive crisps too!

Adventuregame · 26/10/2016 11:36

July I'm struggling when I clean my teeth too !

No cravings yet but I am off chicken and any kind of mince.

teainbed · 26/10/2016 12:57

The heartbeat can't be picked up easily at 12 weeks it's too low down in your pelvis. I understand officially the recommendation is not to try at 16 weeks either because if they can't find it it can cause anxiety and extra scans but I think in practice a fair few will get to hear it then.

lucieloos · 26/10/2016 13:04

Is anybody else absolutely starving all the time? For instance I could have a fairly decent breakfast but within a couple of hours max I will be absolutely starving again to the point my stomach really hurts with hunger pangs. I'm going to be the size of a house if this carries on!

Rabbitykins55 · 26/10/2016 14:05

I'm also struggling when I brush my teeth, it's horrible. I gag nearly every time even if I've felt ok beforehand.

PeachIcedT · 26/10/2016 14:21

I find brushing my teeth fine but mouthwash is the worst, I can't hold it for any real length of time without feeling awful. More fillings for me then!

Yes to the eating all the time, at the weekend it was as if nothing in my cupboards was safe.

RasperryInAMelon · 26/10/2016 15:40

Lucie I seem to have an odd appetite... I'm so full up after meals to the point I'm snacking inbetween. I had a main course portion of risotto for my lunch yesterday, snacked on the train on the way home (crisps, frutella and a bar of chocolate in half an hour) and then proceeded to eat a main course portion of lasagne for dinner despite feeling really full up when I got home! 🙈

Northernexile · 26/10/2016 15:58

Hi to all newbies and congrats to everyone on their lovely scans!

I'm 13+6 today. I have gone off most fruit, but fruit in juice or smoothie form is ok for some weird reason. I have been eating more savoury things than normal I think. I didn't have much in the way of cravings last time, apart from ice cream. I seem to go off things more than crave them. I am reacting badly to strong smells too.

Re the heartbeat, I heard mine at the 12 week scan, but for last pregnancies it was a good few weeks later before I heard it again with the Doppler, for the reasons above- it's hard to find/easy to miss at this stage and therefore too anxiety provoking. My next appointment is 2 and a half weeks away when I'll be 16+4, and I'll be getting my blood results and picking up my hand-held notes (I always get oddly excited by this- it makes it all seem really real!).

LorrieJ · 26/10/2016 17:08

I can't deal with apple skin because of the texture and it tastes weird. My cravings aren't fixed. I'll be desperate for meat one day, fish and crisps another, then doughnuts after that. I only really want refreshing fruit like peaches or pineapple.

On the subject of teeth and vomiting, having broken my sick duck today, how long should you give it before brushing teeth afterwards? I can't remember and no idea which will be worse on enamel - brushing straight away or just rinsing with water (stinky bowk) and giving it some time before using toothpaste / mouthwash.

MissMooMoo · 26/10/2016 17:28

Dentist told me to rinse with some water and then brush 30-40 minutes later.

LorrieJ · 26/10/2016 17:44

Thanks missmoomoo
I don't suppose they advised what to do about breath in the meantime?

MissMooMoo · 26/10/2016 18:05

No he didnt! He did suggest I use a toothpaste for sensitive teeth and he gave me a perscription for a mouthwash that is absolutely rank! He said I have signs of pregnancy gingivitis.
If you haven't seen the dentist recently I would go anyways because I have never even had a filling so I was shocked I had the gingivitis!

growcookeat · 26/10/2016 18:48

Yes to the gagging whilst teeth brushing! Still feeling that now at 12+4. Also my appetite is changing daily - sometimes apple juice is horrendous and then delicious! Have been eating a lot more carbs than normal - my snacks have been crackers, toast, cereal etc. Definitely not helping my bowels (tmi!) - anyone else getting indigestion?

Scan is booked for tomorrow afternoon - not sure I'm going to sleep tonight! Will check in when I'm back!

lucieloos · 26/10/2016 18:57

Good luck grow!

AnneLovesGilbert · 26/10/2016 19:33

Will be thinking of you grow x

FoxMulder · 26/10/2016 19:37

I dread to think about the state of my teeth. Brushing them makes me vom 9 times out of ten.

The anti-emetics I'm taking have made me massively constipated but the laxative the doctor prescribed make me sick. Aargh!

RasperryInAMelon · 26/10/2016 20:01

Just been and picked up the 3 Emma's Diary packs available from Boots and Argos... not a bad little haul for a few freebies!

EsmesBees · 26/10/2016 20:11

Wow. This thread has moved on quickly while I've been at work. Welcome to the newbies and many congratulations to those with scans. Can't wait for mine.

missmoo gingivitis is really common in pregnancy. I had it last time and was really shocked as my teeth are normally perfect. It went away almost as soon as I gave birth. Putting off a trip to the dentist til I get my exception card through

growcookeat · 26/10/2016 20:26

Thanks all!

Ooo good timing Raspberry I was debating whether the pack would be worth it but it looks like a good amount! Might pick them up then!

RasperryInAMelon · 26/10/2016 20:32

Grow that was from all three packs - I still need to pick up my Bounty pack and go through the vouchers from the Boots Parent Club

ImYourWomanJonSnow · 26/10/2016 21:03

I had my booking appointment on Monday, and dating scan appointment has come through already, for next Friday when I'll be 10+4. Considering postponing it for closer to 12 weeks so we can start telling people straight after, I don't know how I'm going to be able to sit on scan photos for weeks and not show them to anyone.

Starting to feel a bit better nausea and fatigue wise but my skin has gone weird and spotty and gray.

Anyone thinking about baby's sex, we have a DS, this pregnancy is very different so far (less hungry!) so I'm hoping it may be a sign it's a girl.

Northernexile · 26/10/2016 21:38

Anyone have any thoughts on gender from the nub? I can't even see a nub on my scan picture

Flingmoo · 26/10/2016 21:42

ImYourWomanJonSnow I thought the point of waiting for 12 weeks was partly because that's when we have the scan these days? Once you've seen a healthy baby with a heartbeat on the scan, the risk of miscarriage goes way way down. Personally I'd just have the scan when it's scheduled, and tell people sooner Smile I understand waiting if you're particularly anxious though.
