Its funny isn't it-- in my group of friends the majority have opted for the birthing center (most popular choice) or home births.

SBSparkles · 04/11/2016 17:55

I like the idea of a home birth but I think I'll go to hospital ( but stay at home as long as poss before)
Evergreen I also spend the night juggling cushions!
Anyone else finding their diaries filling up we get closer to Xmas? I suddenly have plans every weekend until I finish work (5 weeks to go!! Woooo!)
Thanks for all the advice yesterday. I've made a big effort to be friendly and nice to the other teachers and it seems to be working. Talking to the psychiatric nurse yesterday helped loads too - as she also said that I clearly have an awful lot going on!

SBSparkles · 04/11/2016 17:57

Fenella seriously do yoga!!! Down faced dog and pigeon pose help sciatica loads. (YouTube them if you aren't sure) I had a tingle of it once and the yoga totally sorted it out!

divadee · 05/11/2016 07:23

Thanks ladies for the reassurance. I do want a relaxed home birth. I have a fear of hospitals and I dread the post natal ward and think that I will labour quicker at home this time.

Of course if they say I have to go in, I will. I won't cause any risks myself but think that a 2nd birth after a straight forward first labour should be doable at home.

twocatsandatoddler · 05/11/2016 07:29

diva look at the stats for the Netherlands, something like 1/3 of births are home births. If they were that risky then a developed country wouldn't be encouraging that many women to do it! It's just not in our culture over here so I think they get dismissed as an option too quickly.

It's not for me - we live too far from hospital for me to feel comfortable about needing to transfer if there was an issue and when we briefly spoke about it last time DH was totally freaked out by the idea, and I wouldn't have wanted to do anything we both weren't happy with as I needed him to be supportive during labour, not terrified! And with a VBAC this time there's no way I'd be attempting it at home anyway. But if circumstances had been different first time round, and we were closer to hospital, I'd definitely have considered it. In hindsight it would have been the wrong choice considering how my labour ended up in EMCS, but you can't worry about every eventuality and all signs were pointing to low risk birth last time.

Anyone else not like blood tests? My midwifes don't do them so I have to come to hospital to have them done. Doesn't open until 8 but there's already 20 people ahead of me in the queue. I'm also not the best behaved when it comes to blood - I faint Blush oh well, needs must for little one!

SBSparkles · 05/11/2016 08:01

Diva I'm reading a hypnobirthing book and they are all for home births. They say in nature we wouldn't give birth outside of our own 'cave' or dwelling and so often women go to hospital and tense up which slows down labour. We don't have the room at home and I do want to be in hospital just incase! But I'd like to take homely things to help me feel at ease!

DottyA · 05/11/2016 09:31

Home birth sounds great but something like 40% of first-timers end up transferring to hospital - that's just too high for me, though I know it wouldn't bother everyone. With a second, it's only 10% - I'd definitely do it with a second, assuming I had a straightforward first birth.

Not much sleep here either, though I seem to have a couple of bad ones and then am so exhausted I sleep better the third night.

SBSparkles · 05/11/2016 17:15

I take it everyone is on the Facebook page now as thread had slowed down! Can someone add me please?

SBSparkles · 05/11/2016 17:17

My Facebook email is (I don't mind sharing on here as I don't use it anymore) [email protected] (yes it's very silly!)

ScottishSnowflake · 05/11/2016 17:28

Hi SBS, Ive had a go - hopefully you'll get an email ...

Oneiroi · 05/11/2016 17:47

Hahaa great email address Sparkles!

LondonGirl83 · 05/11/2016 20:01

Is everyone on Facebook

gumbootsandjandals · 05/11/2016 20:24

Yes lots of us are now on FB. It's just much easier to follow discussions on particular topics. I struggle on MN unless I'm on the computer, which isn't very often.

Come on over, we're all very normal...so far...Grin

LondonGirl83 · 05/11/2016 20:56

Haha-- I don't have access to Facebook at work but I'll start going back and forth. I'm already on the group but haven't been checking it!

Evergreen17 · 06/11/2016 07:35

I am not on facebook but I made an account to join the bump to teens sale. Can I join like that?
How do I? I will still be here though
So....
I am away in Spain for a few days and freaking out yesterday because this bubba doesnt have regular movements and yesterday it barely moved and I was so worried all night. And not being at home I was just so worried, even though I am Spanish so I could just find a hospital here. But it moved overnight and DH felt him move just now.
So massive relief but I just dont feel him as strong. Maybe he is not kicking my bladder anymore so it is less uncomfortable?
Anyone else has a weird pattern with some days not getting much? I am 26 tomorrow.

Frankier88 · 06/11/2016 07:45

On busier days I definitely have less movement. I've found that lying on your left side helps encourage the kicks! I feel your pain though, it's hard not to worry when they don't move as much.

I'd like to join the FB page if this is an option! Can I search for it or is it a private one?

GinIsIn · 06/11/2016 08:00

Ever please don't worry - it'll be exactly that! I'm 26+2, and when MiniMaxwell first started really kicking at 20 weeks he was kicking straight into my bladder so I felt it really strongly and very uncomfortably. At 22 weeks he completely turned round and I feel him much less strongly now. I mentioned it to the midwife at my 25 week appointment and she said completely normal.

GinIsIn · 06/11/2016 08:01

PS said baby is a lazy one too - he never moves in the morning so by lunchtime every day I'm convinced something's wrong! Grin

Evergreen17 · 06/11/2016 08:01

Thanks Frankiet it is so hard because apparently every baby is different and yesterday I walked a lot...
I think for facebook someone needs to add you? I am not in it though

ScottishSnowflake · 06/11/2016 08:14

Hi Ever, so do you log into FB to see the bump to baby site? Smile

ScottishSnowflake · 06/11/2016 08:16

Oops, should say bump to teens!

twocatsandatoddler · 06/11/2016 08:58

You can't search for the Facebook group as it's a secret group - no one can see you're a member if you're in it. Happy to add anyone that wants to join - you'll need to PM me (or someone else in the group) with the email address attached to your Facebook account and then you'll get a link to join.

ever as always seems our babies are twinnies aswell 😂😂 jellybean doesn't have a particular pattern and just decides to move when she wants and then sometimes goes really quiet!! I think it's near 28 weeks that we have to look for patterns?
Hope you have a lovely time in Spain!
Should come join us on the fb page 😀

LondonGirl83 · 06/11/2016 10:39

ever I freaked out about the exact same thing yesterday. My hospital called me in and did a scan. Baby is fine just in a different position. She was moving loads on the scan but I couldn't feel the movements because of how she was facing. It's crazy how these babies can already give you a heart attack!
