Glad all is ok emz

you're a stronger woman than me to sign up for February bridesmaid duties!

happy is your ivf DD before or after your DD? I definitely hadn't heard that about placental failure before - something to ask my consultant about at my next appointment.

Emz32 · 05/11/2016 21:46

It's ok Stealth, the wedding isn't until August. I'm not quite that crazy!! I'm maid of honour & so excited, my DS is a pageboy. We have to get dressed ordered by Feb if we got with some from a bridal shop. So I'll have to try them on close to the birth but luckily they will be fitted in the summer so I can hopefully have lost weight by then.

When I got married SIL was my bridesmaid - 3 weeks after she gave birth Shock

Bella1985 · 05/11/2016 22:39

Wow, and I was stressing about being a bridesmaid at 24 weeks!!

3 weeks after! That is one brave lady. Iv got some time thankfully. DS loved the fireworks lastnight. I didn't get any jerks or jumps from baby. I think I'm going to have to buy a maternity coat. My coat doesn't do up & it's so cold. Also figured I can use it with my carrier so that baby is inside it with me. Just got to find one that's not out of stock!

How's everyone feeling? The crib is up (now shuffling around it as there's not much room between that & my bed!) currently washing car seat cover. Not the easiest to get off & not sure how I'm going to get it back on!!

colonolthirteen · 06/11/2016 17:21

Happy Sunday everyone I hope you've all had lovely weekends and are feeling well.

We put the cot together yesterday admarks and happylass and here are a few pictures of the whole set. Excuse the bits of polystyrene everywhere, the room is in chaos but I just moved the chaos out of the way for the sake of the pictures!

Also, I had a look at the boxes and, if we kept them piled them in the order that we used them (fairly certain we did) then the boxes are as follows:

Cot
1 of 6 23.7kg
2 of 6 30kg

Drawers
3 of 6 24kg
4 of 6 21.2kg

Wardrobe
5 of 6 27.6kg
6 of 6 14.2kg

I added the weights just in case yours are numbered differently.

Col that is so helpful - thank you! And it looks lovely!

Emz32 · 06/11/2016 18:35

Lovely furniture. It's nice when you start feeling more organised. Iv got so much washing to do! Need to keep whittling away at it

Admarks · 06/11/2016 18:53

Thank you col, it looks great! You've got such a big nursery! Bet you feel a sense of accomplishment having it all constructed!

Thanks for the box info - I've screenshotted your post so I can remember when the time comes to build.

colonolthirteen · 06/11/2016 19:43

Thanks! I'm so glad it's helpful (really hoping I've got my box calculations right). It is nice to have it done but there is still so much tidying up to do, and my mum is currrently moving house so we're storing a lot of stuff for her as well. Every room I walk into needs work! The nursery is a big room, I did try to make a case that we should convert the room that's currently a study into the nursery but for some reason it hasn't happened and I can't remember why. I think the baby's room is bigger than ours! If we have more children we'll just have to keep squeezing them in there together Grin

I forgot to mention the cot has two pieces that you add on to the side when you want to convert it to a toddler bed (to replace the railings), we've put them under the bed for now. We've kept all the fixings in the drawers (you also need to keep something in order to remove the changing top from the drawers, an Allan key or something) and it's potentially a bit of a faff to change the bed but I think if you have all the bits and the instructions it should be ok. I am so worried I'm going to lose all of these bits though!

Bella1985 · 06/11/2016 22:52

Oh the nursery set looks nice - it's making me want to get ours sorted now!

DH has installed the isofix base in the car today and the car seat is now in the boot ready to go!!

Also successfully got to see my uni friends today (took 3hrs to get there thanks to 2 pit stops for pee!) but was totally worth it, and didn't give birth on a mountain side as DH was paranoid about either...Grin

Emz32 · 07/11/2016 08:31

I should be able to get the car seat re-covered today so it'll be all ready. My whole house feels like a mess & every room also needs something doing to it before the baby gets here. Feeling a bit stressed but DH just says "we will get it done". We have got a few quiet weekends coming up before the Christmas onslaught so hoping we can get it done.

LucySB123 · 07/11/2016 09:42

wow this thread's been busy over the weekend. I have been making progress too although not on the nursery / baby-prep front. Our kitchen refurb will start in 2 weeks so we started packing our kitchen yesterday and listing some appliances to sell. I have to start steeling myself for organised chaos for the next few weeks while my living room looks like a storage unit and my kitchen a construction site.

colonolthirteen · 07/11/2016 10:20

lucy you're a brave woman!

Bella1985 · 07/11/2016 16:44

Lighthearted question just out of interest... Any of you having cravings at all?

OP posts:
colonolthirteen · 07/11/2016 16:53

None at all, but I haven't really had any during the pregnancy except for cheese sandwiches in the 1st trimester but that was really due to the sickness rather than a craving as such. I feel like I've missed out on this little pregnancy quirk.

Are you having cravings?

Emz32 · 07/11/2016 17:12

I crave chocolate, once Iv had some then I'm ok but I just think about it all the time until then. I couldn't eat chocolate with DS as it tastd funny. I ate peanut butter by the jar with him. Haven't been able to eat peanut butter this time. Odd how you body works. So tired today. Haven't been to yoga for weeks as its been cancelled. Getting the energy to leave the house at 7.30 when it's dark & cold is so hard but I need to go as my hips hurt so much.

You are very brave Lucy. I keep looking at all the tidying needing doing & it feels like there's so much to do.

Admarks · 07/11/2016 19:07

Wow, Lucy, good luck with the kitchen refurb! I've been living in organised choas for about 6 months so it is do'able (hall and spare bedroom, are in lounge and office/nursery).

No real cravings here, however someone mentioned they fancied Christmas cake the other week which prompted my taste buds. So I can confess I (and OH) have already eaten a 12 person Christmas cake between us this year! It was yummy (he has banned me from buying another, it's so hard to resist!!)

Bella1985 · 07/11/2016 19:49

I haven't got any cravings in particular, but I have found that I've been wanting things more and giving in ...bought nesquick strawberry milkshake today as I loved it as a child and havent had it in years but just fancied it. MIL has offered to make us a xmas cake (I don't like fruit cake) so said no initially, but now I'm thinking about it the thought of fruit cake is sort of quite appealing...Hmm

Glad it's not just me missing out on the 1 crazy craving type experience!!

OP posts:
LucySB123 · 07/11/2016 20:56

not sure about being brave, but definitely foolhardy. We didn't plan it this way, in fact we ordered the kitchen at the end of August (it's being made in Germany) hoping to get it installed by early November but a muck up at the supplier / installer delayed it to end of November Angry

I've had 2 jars of peanut butter this pregnancy, all on my own. With lots of jam on it - like the american peanut butter & jelly. Thankfully I found a no added sugar peanut butter (Whole Earth, if you are interested) otherwise I would be the size of a house. I have gone off porridge despite having it nearly every morning pre-pregnancy. and houmous. can't stand it now. and I've been far more relaxed / lenient with myself this pregnancy, getting a pudding with my lunch at work most days.

Has anyone experienced fetal hiccups? Baby seems to be doing this nearly daily and I found a piece of research linking fetal hiccups to potential cord problems so it's making me worry now Confused.

Bella1985 · 07/11/2016 21:09

Oh yes I tried whole earth peanut butter with jam on toast and found it to be nice the thought of it sounds disgusting normally but haven't had it very often.

I've noticed hiccups a couple of times - atleast I think they're hiccups, either that or rhythmic punching! Didn't know about the cord thing though, will try to push that to the back of my mind...

OP posts:
stealthbanana · 07/11/2016 21:14

I've eaten LOADS of peanut butter this pregnancy. About 3 or 4 jars I think.

Also have really craved apricots. Have been mainlining dried ones the whole way through. Might have something to do with the iron in them?

Apart from that have just had a much sweeter tooth than normal - lots of extra puddings and sweets. Not good!

Bella1985 · 07/11/2016 21:21

I've always had a sweet tooth but been in slimming world on and off for most of last 3 years (for wedding and then pre-conception) so I've not 'given in' so easily to all my desires! I can't tell if its pregnancy cravings for bad foods or just my lazyness creeping back in and allowing myself more sweet treats, sausage rolls, orange juice and other 'high syn' foods that slimming world recommend you to kerb...! Ah well Smile

OP posts:
stealthbanana · 07/11/2016 21:50

Haha! I'm normally much more a savoury person (would much rather eat cheese than pudding) so it's been a real shock to the system. Cake has been the biggest change - normally I can take or leave cake, am not that interested, but I've been downing it by the bucketload in pregnancy!
