Ah I'm having the GTT in the morning and all this talk of food is making me hungry! And I'm only 16 minutes in to the fasting 😬

Bella1985 · 07/11/2016 22:26

Oh no sorry happylass - that was bad timing by me Blush

On a different note then - and sorry if it's TMI for anyone - I've just started leaking from one breast Shock I'm half excited by this as it's another sign that I'm headed towards meeting babyBella but half horrified at having to manage this new and bizzarre occurrance!

colonolthirteen · 08/11/2016 07:23

Good luck happy with the GTT.

And how exciting Bella! I hope you have some breast pads handy.

Emz32 · 08/11/2016 07:28

Iv been the same with food. Iv got a sweet tooth anyway so this has just encouraged it! Want to eat anything bad. Was munching mince pies yesterday!

Good luck today Happy. That's exciting Bella. I didn't have any leaking with DS but wonder if I might 2nd time round.

Bella1985 · 08/11/2016 07:36

Luckily colonol I'm a planner so bought some in 2nd trimester as literature says it could happen from 14 weeks!!

Good luck this morning happylass

stealthbanana · 08/11/2016 08:08

Wow bella! That's exciting but freaky (in the nicest possible way!)

Good luck happylass

Bella1985 · 08/11/2016 10:53

It is totally freaky stealth! I thought I'd pulled a pectoral muscle as its been a bit sore on and off for 4-5 days and as my SPD is worse at night I tend to use my arms to drag myself around the bed etc but then I realised last night that my whole breast felt really hard and since leaking a little the pain has gone! Thankfully it doesn't seem to be leaking loads yet!

so this morning baby was a little quiet and I went into the Day Assessment Unit for a check. Usually I notice baby's movements after I have my decaf coffee and breakfast but today nothing. So I sat at my desk for 2 hours counting the movements and I got 3 very sluggish movements. I called up the DAU who told me to go in for a check. They tested my urine, BP and hooked me on the CTG, baby's heartbeat was regular 130-140bpm, and in the 20-30mins I was on it I had 1 movement. The MW didn't seem overly concerned that baby was quieter than usual this morning. I am a bit confused as to when I should be calling them. They told me to call them anytime I feel it's decreased / increased. For this particular instance there was nothing to worry as baby seems happy and not distressed. I am glad everything's OK today but feel the next 8 weeks I'm going to be on tenterhooks Confused. Baby moved as usual after lunch so am hoping it'll be back to its usual acrobatics by tonight.

I'm hoping to "harvest colostrum" this time round - so I would love to have boobs that leak before baby arrives! with DD I struggled to produce anything the first week - I'm hoping if I try harvesting this time DC2 won't be crying out of starvation for a whole week. All the websites I read seem to suggest that just massaging would produce milk although I am skeptical given my past experience Hmm

happylass · 08/11/2016 17:10

Lucy sorry to hear you've had a worrying day. Sounds exactly like what happened with me last Monday. Baby has been back to normal since though. Definitely call anytime you're concerned. Consultant actually said to me last week that just because you've had monitoring/scan it's no reason to assume everything's still ok a few hours down the line and to call if ever you have any concerns. Fx everything returns to normal for you Flowers
GTT went smoothly this morning though I don't get the results until tomorrow. Didn't realise they wouldn't let me leave the ward - was bored senseless!
On the boob front I'm extremely sceptical as to whether my 34AAs (which haven't grown at all during pregnancy) will manage to produce anything Hmm

Bella1985 · 08/11/2016 17:50

Oh no lucy it can be so worrying. Glad movement seems back to normal this afternoon. I think my baby's popped out of engaged position, I've been feeling different types of movement today and much more than usual so I hope he/she doesn't go breech after so long head down.

hapylass there's hope for your A cups - I think I have one B cup and one C cup today!! The leaky one has just ballooned Grin Fx for your results tomorrow.

lucy I might need to look into this harvesting business, I don't want all the colostrum to come out and go to waste before baby arrives - I thought we only had 2 weeks supply of that..?! Confused

Someone mentioned hiccups. My baby seems to have them once/twice a day. It's getting to the point my belly jumps with each one. DH finds it funny. I had it a lot with DS as well. Not heard about the placenta link.

I don't think I'll be worrying about the colostrum, I worry that it would encourage birth early. I'll think about it more if I reach 37 weeks. I thought your milk came in on day 3/4. I seem to remember it was about day 5 with DS & you noticed the difference from colostrum to milk? But maybe I'm wrong. Those early weeks are all a painful blur. Although my body did take some persuasion as I had to hand express from the start, really hoping I can miss out on that this time. Glad your baby was ok Lucy. We are told about movement but when Iv queried it with the hospital they don't seem as fussed. I find it all a bit a scary & worrying.

Got a full day at the theatre tomorrow with DH. Hoping I last especially as my hips have been aching so much.

stealthbanana · 08/11/2016 19:16

Gosh, glad your baby is ok lucy. How worrying. With my anterior placenta I am really struggling to feel much of a regular pattern of movement, so I'm just hoping that as long as I feel something every few hours it's all fine and trying not to freak out. Certainly I couldn't tell if baby was hiccuping - I can't even tell if a kick is an arm or a leg.

happy I think I must have got all your boob growth plus my own - mine started growing at about 8 weeks and haven't stopped. I was hoping to make it to 37ish weeks to be fitted for nursing bras but I don't think I can hang on for another 5 weeks - I'm bursting out of the latest sets I've bought. Again. It's an expensive business, so be glad you haven't grown too much!

emz hope your hips hold out. Pelvic pain is just the pits. Do you have a tens machine? That might help.

LucySB123 · 08/11/2016 21:20

Baby's movements have been better this afternoon, more like normal. What I've learnt from this experience is to carry my notes! I had to first come back home to get my notes then out to the hospital and the whole trip took 1.5hrs from the time I left work to get to the hospital.
yes, harvesting can bring on labour so not to start it before 37wks. I read on Kellymom.com that breasts only produces colostrum (from 16-22wks into the pregnancy) until the placenta is delivered, and then 2-3 days later it should become milk. So you could be producing / leaking colostrum for weeks.
happy fx for normal GTT.
emz enjoy your day out in London! I would love to go for a proper theatre show, the last two I went for were "3 little pigs" and "We're going on a bear hunt". Puppets are not quite my thing Grin

stealthbanana · 08/11/2016 22:23

Really pleased to hear it lucy. And I hear you on the notes, I had a doctors appointment this morning and forgot mine AGAIN. We probably are all far enough along now that we should be carrying them!

Does anyone else have an overwhelming sensation of heaviness and needing to wee when they walk? I have been lucky not to have any pelvic pain at all and am fine swimming, doing Pilates, sitting down, sleeping etc. But for the last few days as soon as I walk somewhere I have an overwhelming need to pee and everything feels really heavy. Have just freaked myself out by reading the internet, where the general consensus seems to be that it's because the baby is engaging. He can't engage, I'm only 32+3!

Bella1985 · 09/11/2016 08:09

Yes stealth that's what I had - heaviness, and the need to pee so strong and urgent, and occassional baby movements when trying to walk would stop me in my tracks in a john wayne style stance!

Mine engaged around week 28 and I have been assured that it doesn't mean early labour. Is it your first? MW said that the uterus is less stretchy first time round so there's less space for first babies and gravity pulls their big heads down into position earlier. They can pop back up out of being engaged, but will probably remain head down for the rest of the pregnancy.

OP posts:
stealthbanana · 09/11/2016 08:52

Yes that's it! Yes it's my first. Tbf he has been head down for pretty much the whole pregnancy (good boy) and I know he is big so it's probably just gravity starting to work its magic. Good to know it doesn't mean imminent labour! Shock

Bella1985 · 09/11/2016 09:00

Half of me wanted the MW to say that I'm unlikely to go 40 weeks and the other half of me horrified at going early but she said no, I could still be 40+12 having an induction!

Another december thread baby!

OP posts:
stealthbanana · 09/11/2016 09:09

I know! I don't know what's worse - early or late!

Saw the December thread news this morning. She at least technically had a November due date so was at term - just!! It's all getting extremely real Shock

Emz32 · 09/11/2016 10:25

Wow another baby. This is getting real. My DS engaged at 25 weeks & arrived 10 weeks later so I wouldn't worry too much if your first baby is engaging at 28 or 32 weeks. I do remember waddling at 28 weeks & my mum telling me I had ages to go yet.

We are off for a day in London, notes are packed but I really hope I don't need them. At least London does have some good hospitals if the worst happened plus we don't live that far out.

Woke at 5am this morning really wanting an apple. Iv also had an insatiable thirst this morning. Which is making me just want to sit on the loo. Not good when we are seeing 2 theatre productions today! Going to enjoy a grown up day. Was contemplating half a glass of prosecco for dinner but having not had anything I don't know if I dare...

Emz32 · 10/11/2016 08:27

Baby didn't arrive thankfully & theatre production was really really good. My hips are really sore today though.

Hats off to those who have to commute in London. I hated being on the tube & jostled & pushed on the busy pavements. I got (nicely) told off for not wearing my badge on the tube (!). It's obvious I'm pregnant & we were only going 3 stops, I had declined the seat! I also got asked what I was hiding in my coat pocket & then got frisked before she realised I was just pregnant. Cue some embarrassment on both sides!!

Hoping DSs swimming lesson will help my hips. How's everyone else feeling?

LucySB123 · 10/11/2016 10:10

I have no idea when DD engaged and I don't think this one is engaged yet either. Most of the time when I feel l need to pee it's because I really do need to pee haha Grin - which is about once every hour nowadays argh. That said, baby may be moving down as I feel I have more space to eat and rarely getting heartburn nowadays. I'm hoping baby comes between 37 and 40wks but hey ho, it may not have received the memo

I have worn the badge since I was about 28 wks but most of the time people (pretend not?) don't see me so I have resorted to asking for my seat. Anyway just 4 more weeks of commuting hell.

Emz32 · 10/11/2016 12:19

I am in amazement Lucy. It was hard work yesterday, I felt so unfit struggling to breath climbing up the stairs when there wasn't any escalators.

I'm really struggling with nausea today. Hoping it's just because I'm tired. I'm fairly sure this one isn't engaged. Heartburn is bad & feet are high up. Plus I'm not feeling the heaviness down there I got before. Going to have take it easy Christmas shopping tomorrow.

Admarks · 10/11/2016 18:04

I have no idea what position baby is in - I seem to feel movement all over, from my ribs, to left/right and into my cervix.

Hope everyone's doing Ok? Lucy - good to hear the baby is ok. I just wish they knew how much grief and worry they cause us!

I've been wearing my baby on board badge since I've had to take a coat to work (about 6 weeks). I wasn't keen to puncture my limited maternity clothes with the badge and generally didn't feel deserving of a seat before as I was fairly active. My commute involves a train to Waterloo every day and then sometimes travel on the tube or overground. I find the overground the worse as people just keep their head down and avoid eye contact. On the tube I'm generally offered a seat if I'm in the middle of the car, however quite often I'm jammed under someone's armpit by the door! Mainline train is a bit hit and miss, I'm often lucky enough to get a seat, only have issues due to formation changes or line problems (those are the times when you need a seat, or at least people to be mindful of the bump!).

One calendar month left of commuting/work for me! Grin

Bella1985 · 10/11/2016 20:40

Wow I'm so impressed with you all managing public transport. I've been out tonight at the Christmas light switch on and all the people crowding everywhere made me feel really uncomfortable and walking everywhere takes soooo long! Can't imagine having to go on hot and busy trains too... 3 weeks tomorrow will be my last day in work, can't wait!!

OP posts:
Emz32 · 11/11/2016 16:52

Dont wish to be the bearer of bad news but I'm not sure the worry ever stops Admarks.. Trains & pregnancy are a bad mix. I couldn't have coped with it all. The sickness & then the getting bigger.

I caved & ordered a maternity coat. It's just too cold to get by & im hoping I can get some wear out of it afterwards as I intend to sling baby when taking DS to nursery etc. Will be easier than try to push a buggy & carry all the bags (and keep hold of an excited almost 3 year old).

I have had the worst stomach the last few days. Today was so bad that I had to cancel my Christmas shopping day with family. If laid on the sofa watching tv & feeling sorry for myself. I just feel so tired!
