Good Morning all, hope you all had a good weekend will catch up later.
Hurrah it was light when I left the house this morning for the first time in ages so feel much happier about being up and at work.
Cheers CM

Hi all

Had my 28 week midwife appointment yesterday and forgot to tell them I was taking Floradix. How much do you have to take now TYG? They took bloods yesterday so might ring if I do have low iron I suppose. I have been taking the Floradix for 2 weeks now but still feel crap. Been back to Drs today as still coughing lots. She said I do have a little white spot on tonsil but nothing much and probably just a virus so lots of rest, warm drinks etc and to lower standards on the housework. Ha Ha . Don't really have any standards!!

Probably going on tour of Lincoln hospital on Sunday - they do them at 1330 each Sunday for a group and you just turn up. Still want to go the local midwife led unit but DP not keen so I am playing along for now.

Welcome back LG&T. I have nearly finished your VCR of homebirths, just one more to catch then i will email you for your address.

SKYTVADDICT · 06/02/2007 17:41

Oh 28 week appointment went well but couldn't hear the hear beat although he was kicking hell out of the machine so the midwife wasn't worried. All we were getting were thuds as he kicked!

twelveyeargap · 06/02/2007 17:54

@ SKYTVs baby.

SKYTV, midwife said to up to to three times a day instead of the recommended two.

Glad all is well.

twelveyeargap · 06/02/2007 17:55

Obv I meant all well with the baby. Not with you having a sore throat. That is a bugger.

Bensonbluebird · 06/02/2007 21:29

Hey Abbylou - I'm going to start potty training with my DS in the next few weeks, just haven't quite dared to do it yet, though I did go and buy pants and a stool so DS can reach the loo today. Just need to get a bit more work done on the kitchen so that I feel like I can concentrate. Good luck and I'll be interested to know how you get on.

I've had a bit of a growth spurt too and have just had to start wearing maternity clothes...I hate them already. Bought a dress from H&M because at least that can't fall down. I never normally wear dresses so it's really weird to look like a grown up.

twelveyeargap · 06/02/2007 22:35

You've only just started wearing maternity??

Blimey!

dejags · 07/02/2007 05:13

Oh I second you on the maternity wear blues BBB.

I absolutely loathe them. I resisted buying any until last Saturday. I looked in the mirror on Saturday am and realised that I was truly pissing in the wind if I thought I could go another week in my normal clothes.

I bought 3 x maternity trousers and 2 x tops. Arghhhh, I hate anything touching my bump but cannot wear the under bump maternity stuff because it won't stay up. So it's over the bump for me [miserable emoticon]

Anyway at least it's only another 14 or so weeks to grin and bear it and totally beats my first two pregnancies where I started wearing maternity clothes fulltime by 15 weeks.

LupinsBigLump · 07/02/2007 06:01

wow i was in maternity at 9 weeks lol - bloomin useless stuff - tops are great but the trouser (apart from my lovely next roll top ones) are useless, they dont stay up and are uncomfortable

I am sooooo cross with dp - not going to go into details at the moment been awake to long - would end up waffling - lets just say if i had the money i'd be going to my mums for a few days with dd - moan over for now

anneme · 07/02/2007 08:27

Am I weird - I quite like being in maternity wear. It is the only time in my life that I can a] not worry about bulgy bits and b] have a "capsule wardrobe" a la all those fashion mags - you know the thing a black skirt/ trousers and various things to mix and match. Haven't quite mastered accessories though.
Better go downstairs and give more sympathy to poor little DS who is lying on the sofa in front of CBeebies feeling unwell.

notsolilKel · 07/02/2007 08:45

Lupins, are you ok?? we're here for you, you know...(tosses Krispy Kreme and slides cup of tea over)...

Benson & Abbylou, we're potty training now. Must admit the first couple of weeks were trying as I was born with zero patience, but the past few days have been quite good. If you thought you were paying too much attention to poo & wee before, well, this is a whole 'nother level!! Good luck!

notsolilKel · 07/02/2007 09:44

OK, very good news for everyone who is sick & tired of their trousers falling down....

I've got mat jeans from Topshop, underbump style, like but in blue not black . I had been using a belt to help hold them up, but just discovered they have adjustable elastic on the inside which tightens them up round your hips!! Don't know how I missed this before, only been wearing them for 3 months...

Hopefully that will help some of you out, and save you from ghastly over-the-bump discomfort!!

ShowOfHands · 07/02/2007 10:06

Just dashing in and out, know I haven't been around but been poorly/busy.

No sign of cat...

TYG, glad you like your community midwife- I'm under sole community midwife care and have been from my booking in appointment- antenatal checks consist of a cup of tea, a biccie and a natter. They are extremely pro-homebirths, it's me that's worried about lack of heating/amubulance/driveway issues.

Started hypnobirthing and am reading Ina May Gaskin. Viewing lots of houses and we may have found another contender.

Anyway, gotta run. Hope everybody's well, have missed catching up. Spied a newbie too- welcome, will get to know you soon I'm sure.

twelveyeargap · 07/02/2007 10:42

Hmm... I actually haven't had any problem with my trews falling down, except the "pull on" jersey ones from Mothercare with the foldover top. I must be a weird shape. Actually, I think it helps that I still have a waistline (albeit a large one) so the stuff sits on my hips/ waist where it should.

Sorry, Lilkel, I'm laughing at you missing the elasticated waist. It's very useful indeed. Three pairs of my maternity trousers have them. Two from Mothercare and one from Dorothy Perkins.

I have a Mothercare pair that have pretty much and entirely elasticated bump with an adjustable waist on today. Very comfy (except for you dejags) and the other pair have just got elastic all round the low waistline under the bump. Er... The DP ones have a "normal" low waitstband and are just adjustable elastic inside. All stay up...

twelveyeargap · 07/02/2007 10:43

Lupins - come and have a rant if you feel like it later. x

Lwatkins · 07/02/2007 12:13

Maternity wear is making me really at the mo. Am still in all my regular clothes at the mo, size 8 jeans are a tad too tight now but size 10 are ok unless i eat - then feel like they cut into my bump. So have bought some jeans in size 12/14 but the problem is i haven't filled out anywhere except my bump. So all my new jeans don't stay on my hips and the bum part is huge and saggy. I have a pair of over the bump mat jeans in size 10 but again they are huge and wont stay up, and the arse in them is like a tent! Am 24+5 by hospital dates, 24+3 by my dates. Have some lovely tops though, some maternity some just in bigger sizes and have no complaints with them, but trousers - grrrrr! I'm spending most of my time in my pj's cause they are so comfortable and give me no problems
Cause i'm a student though i cant afford to but lots of new stuff so am screwed when i get a bit bigger and normal jeans wont fit!!

Anyway, afternoon everyone!

scootermum · 07/02/2007 12:14

Hi all,
Yay everyones back!
Well,I have had another disasterous few days.DD has been very ill again and the Dr has now referred her to the paediatrician as he thinks she might have a problem with her kidneys.I am trying NOT to freak out.She actually slept a little better last night, (only woke once as opposed to 6 times the previous 3 nights). Her cough is appalling though-she sounds like she's choking to death. The GP said, 'well its a cough..'I KNOW!!Numpty. She's had it a month now and no sign of improvement poor mite..

Anyway I was rushing to get her red book prior to taking her to the GP on Monday evening and somehow manged to slip and fall over, wacking my head on the concrete and actually knocking myself out.Fortunately a kindly neighbour happened to be going to the post box and came to my aid.So I spent the next 4 hours in a and e being looked at-all alright except an almighty headache and somehow I managed to scrape all the skin off my right foot-(was wearing ballet pumps at time)and do something to my knee so am currently walking with a limp and look a right numbnuts.Blimey.(bean fine though and has actualy moved alot more since fall!)I am buying 10 lotto tickets at the weekend as with all this bad luck I think we are due some good fortune.(If I win I will buy each of you the buggy you want, or something else if you have got it already-but only if I win over a million squid!)

Im gonna get me some of that Iron juice you were talking about NLK.I still feel a bit depleted in that department and the iron tablets are making me feel a bit unwell in the digestive arena..

Must go as am training people today all day...we have a virus on comoputer at home so hopefully will get on later but might not manage..

Will everyone stop talking about shopping?!And Twixes...Was doing very well at curtailing spending and not eating junk and now fear a lapse in efforts in both approaching.I want jeans and shoes and tops and cakes and I want them now!(and strangely also could really drink a mug of hot Bovril)

Also I am praying for snow tomorrow as boss has said can work from home if its bad...Have been feverishly checking weather forecast all day!

Hope all are well-havent had time to properly read all the thread yet and catch up..Nice to 'see' everyone though!

scootermum · 07/02/2007 12:18

lwatkins-I hate you!Size 8... grrr. That aside ive got some mat trousers, (topshop) that are now a bit snug-they are adjustable so might be ok for you-black pinstripe, wide leg ones-d'you want them? Could mail them down to you if you like..Im not getting any use out of them so someone thin may as well.

Or perhaps you could get away with the smock and leggings look-very de rigour at the mo?Would probably look great on you you blighter!

Really going now!

SKYTVADDICT · 07/02/2007 12:29

You do seem to be having a run of bad luck scooter. Perhaps the lotto tickets are a good idea . Hope your DD is soon on the mend. So many bugs and stuff going round at the mo. DD1 off AGAIN today (cold, headache, sore throat). I am beginning to think she just likes her time with me without DD2 being present! Also I think I am too soft. I was supposed to be going out with coffee and lunch again today but didn't really feel that well and couldn't decide what to do but keeping DD1 off has sorted that decision.

Have been in maternity wear a while now having bought most of it in the next sale. Thinking of venturing into nursing bras in the next few weeks. Can't believe I only have 11 weeks to go (on Friday).

Lwatkins - I couldn't even get one leg into a size 10 so can't help out I'm afraid. Scooters idea of leggings and a smock sound like worth a try.

twelveyeargap · 07/02/2007 14:48

Poor scooter!

Stay at home tomorrow. There might not be anything in the morning, but weren't they forecasting all the snow to come by the evening rush hour?

Hope DD is ok. x

SKYTVADDICT · 07/02/2007 15:55

We have snow forecast for overnight and tomorrow. DD2 came home really excited because she said they have a letter saying school will be closed if it snows, but what it actually says is listen to the radio, the usual standard letter, but they hope to stay open! I have just emailed work and told them i am still not well but hope to be ok for tomorrow. At least I have warnted them but if it snows loads I am not going

LupinsBigLump · 07/02/2007 16:26

Lilkel - thanks for the donut and tea - done the job

SOH sorry cat hasnt turned up yet, good luck with the hypnobirthing

LW I live in my pj's when dp and dd are out - so much more cumfy and dont fall down, I can just about still fit in my size 8 joggers and most normal tops - maternity stuff is just so much better fitting in the right places - even if the jeans do fall down, I have no bum either so nothing to fill in the baggier bits

Scooter - OMG glad you and bump are ok, wishing you luck on winning numbers, we have snow forecast tomorrow (berks) I have got to get to the hospital should be fun

I am feeling much calmer than this morning, I was sooo mad at dp, after not having any work and supposed to be starting today - he staued up till 3.30 in the morning playing on the computer - then got into bed told me it was 3.30 so I turned off the alarm - no way he was going after 3 hrs sleep, I was then bloody awake - couldnt sleep cos of his snoring again, then dd woke up wet - because dp had forgotten to put her on the loo, so I decided to take spare duvet down stairs - still couldnt sleep - then dd was awake at 5.30 cos of bad dreams so I gave her the duvet and decided to have a cuppa - finally got dp up at 9.30 (was past moaning by now due to being so tired) I went back to bed, the vertbaudet guy banged on the door then the postman then dd kept coming in, grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, anyway managed an hours sleep, and have been for a nice walk in the frost so feeling calmer, also little bean has been hurting me when it is dancing, much as I love its little movement i was nearly in tears as was so tired and it was really hurting me - and to top it all (yes theres more) I have been full of cold for days cant breath am out of breath and I ache MOAN OVER!!!! thanks for listening you guys are lifelines

Can I have lots of vibes that lo has its legs uncrossed and I can find out what it is, it would really cheer me knowing either way, had some sleepsuits and my breast pump and hospital bag arrived today, spare room is gradually getting taken over

notsolilKel · 07/02/2007 19:08

Lupins, here's hoping your LO is cooperative tomorrow!! Let us know how it goes!!

SKYTVADDICT · 07/02/2007 19:30

Sorry to anyone i missed, but a bit HI anyway x

toomanyprojects · 07/02/2007 19:56

hello everyone - have been away and then rushing around like an idiot for the last 3 days so am miles behind on what everyone's been up to.

Had my 28 week check today - didn't take much notice until after the MW measured my (enormous) bump - asked her if it was over and she said "a little" - 31 cm for a 27+5 bump!. My other two were like this and DS was 9lb - am not supposed to be going overdue again this time as the consultant is worried baby will get too big. Great - a third induction to look forward to!

Has anyone else got another scan - I have been referred for a 32 week one to check on an irregular measurement - renal dilutation on one kidney - trying not to be concerned as it normally corrects itself apparently but the bright red sticker "Paediatrics Alert!" on the front of my file is a bit off putting!

Love to everyone.
