Lovely scan picture rhubarb !
I cant seem to stop eating all the time! Currently today have eaten, 3 weetabix, banana, plum and two marmite sandwiches. I've put on 2.5lb so far.

marmitecheesetoast · 29/09/2016 12:38

Awh lovely scan pic Rhubarb! Glad it went well.
Mine did too! Baby was sound asleep so MW had to get me to cough a few times to wake him/her up as they weren't in the right position to measure the nuchal fluid. Then they startled wiggling and bouncing around! So bizarre to see them moving so much for some reason I didn't expect that! Very surreal! But starting to feel like this is actually happening now!! Grin
Got sent to phlebotomist in the end as well after two MWs failed to get any blood on 3 attempts! Although my veins are pretty good! So feel like a pin cushion now!

marmitecheesetoast · 29/09/2016 12:40

Oh also she's put me at 11+6 when I thought it was 11+4 so EDD is now 14th April. Can just update it when the list is next updated!
Hope everyone else having a good day

Helbelle75 · 29/09/2016 12:48

Lovely scan pic Rhubarb, congrats on the scans so far.
When we had our scan at 10 weeks, we were really surprised to see how much baby was moving marmite. So special!
Well, my nausea has come back again with a vengeance, been feeling terrible over the last 48 hours, proper dry heaving this time (sorry TMI!).
Our 12 week scan is tomorrow - I'll be 11+6. Private scan put me at 10+1 at 10 weeks.
Very anxious that things might have gone wrong in the last 2 weeks. Got a letter from the hospital yesterday to say that I had increased platelets (happened last time with the MMC too), which has made me worry more. They want a blood test in 4 weeks, so I guess it can't be that urgent.
Will be very happy when I can feel baby moving!

sarahhh1984 · 29/09/2016 14:08

Congratulations on the successful scans ladies! Can't wait for mine - less than two weeks to go now!

Celan, TMI but I've had the opposite issue - so much CM all the time. I thought being pg would save me money on sanitary products but I'm having to buy pantyliners all the time! As far as I can see so far, pregnancy just means that if it's not one thing, it's another! Hmm

Khaxby · 29/09/2016 15:13

Hi!

Finally had booking appointment today for dc1 - everything is delayed because I couldn't face cancelling a third appointment after having to with 2 previous mc :( I'm 11+2 in with 2 very positive scans (last one was Monday with a perfect heart rate and a dancing baby measuring 10+5) and waiting for my hospital one which is on the 10th of Oct. Still very anxious and hopeful for the little bean but we've never got this far so I can't help but be excited!

I wanted to just see what all this about nail polish was? I had no idea about it being a problem, are there any makes of remover and polish that are safe?? I've been using OPI up until now.

jpeg28 · 29/09/2016 16:33

Yes celen I've had that! I have had tons of CM since being pg!!

summerskittles you eat what ever you need! I had half a loaf of soreen and a marmite and cheese bagel at 6.30 today!

Great scan rhubarb! And glad yours went well too! Mine is a week today and I can't wait!

My tummy is huge this afternoon!! I've worked out tho that most of it is pasta! A couple of nights ago I had quinoa... the next day my tummy was reasonably normal, last night I had a mountain of pasta... and today I look 6 months pg! It's true that your digestive system slows down in pregnancy!!

MrsRhubarb · 29/09/2016 19:56

FFS. After being so happy with scan going great this morning, boxing baby with little heart beating away I've now started bleeding. Never had any bleeding in either pregnancy. Although the rational part of my head says after seeing it today it's not likely to have gone wrong so fast, it doesn't stop.me being a blubbering mess. Saw out of hours who have just told me if it gets worse or pain starts to go to A&E. DD is spending the night at DMs just in case.

jpeg28 · 29/09/2016 20:00

Mrs I'm so sorry... I am sure it's completely ok especially as you had a scan today. I know people who have bled all through pregnancy and baby has been completely fine. Is it heavy? Are you cramping?
Hope it stops really quickly! Can you call your MW tomorrow?

Bubbinsmakesthree · 29/09/2016 20:23

Oh MrsRhubarb that must be worrying - a healthy scan just a few hours ago means everything is very likely to be fine, but nevertheless really not what you need when you're supposed to be able to relax! I hope it stops as quickly as it started.

Light at the end of the tunnel for those struggling with morning sickness: at 10+6 earlier this week I was feeling awful, sick all day long. 11+3 now and just had an entirely nausea free day! Being on holiday and having a decent amount of rest and sleep may have helped, but I genuinely felt completely normal today for the first time in months - bliss!

Celen · 29/09/2016 20:40

Is it just spotting MrsRhubarb or a bit heavier? Must be a worry after such an exciting day, hope it disappears for you soon x

MrsRhubarb · 29/09/2016 20:47

Thank you all. It was heavier than just spotting, but seems to have stopped now. Tummy feels a little tender, but not crampy. Curled up on the sofa now, hoping I can at least make the most of the toddler free morning tomorrow. I have never cried as much in my life as I have in the last 12 weeks, it is ridiculous! DH has been wonderful.

Hayls17 · 29/09/2016 20:52

Fingers crossed for you rhubarb

I've had such an emotional day. I've just had so many thoughts swimming through my head, thinking of MC and all sorts of other situations. I'm trying to be rational and tell myself I have no reason to think anything has gone wrong, but I've been a blubbering mess. I'm 11 + 3 and nausea has completely stopped. I know I should be happy but I think it's definitely playing with my head a bit today. Please tell me I'm not the only one who has slightly hysterical moments?!

choccybiscuit · 29/09/2016 20:52

I'm sure it's fine MrsRhubarb I had red blood and not just spotting about two weeks ago, I was so sure it was over, had slight cramps too but baby was all fine. Chance are so slim something has happened since your scan. I bet it's still boxing around in there! Call epu in the morning and gets some rest in the meantime.

MumiTravels · 29/09/2016 21:55

I hope it settles down Rhubarb.

DH and I are in a bit of a conundrum. We viewed a house today that we liked and was the right size etc however it was in a poor state. Structurally sound, electrically okay but needed stripping back and new kitchen, bathroom. We're not sure what to do and if we're up for the challenge. We'd have to do one/two rooms at a time as that is all that our budget would allow.

We are in a very cheap rental at the moment so we could potentially pay for both for a month or two whilst we got the kitchen and a living space done. Then it would be slow progress after that.

It's hard to know what to do. We're first time buyers and we want to be mortgage free or have a very small mortgage left by the time both DC leave home so we need to be thinking about biting the bullet really and we have been looking for ages.

Anyone done up a house one room at a time and how stressfull was it?

SharkBastard · 30/09/2016 06:56

How are you today Mrs? Hope it's all settled down now and you got some sleep.

I've never done up a house, Mumi, we bought a new build in May this year (our first house) and it's taking us ages to afford to do each room...nearly finished the living room! Only another 4 rooms to go. Our bedroom will be the last to be finished

Certainly is a conundrum for you, sorry not much help!

Celen · 30/09/2016 07:29

How was your night MrsRhubarb? How's things this morning?

everdene · 30/09/2016 07:54

Mumi DH and I bought an unmodernised house earlier this year. We moved in February and I can't say it has been easy but we've done loads so far (in ebbs and flows dependent on how much money we had).

Finally coming to the end of all the urgent jobs on it. What will be the baby's room is now carpeted and safe.

One thing I would definitely say is to make sure it's liveable - eg check the boiler works etc as we had lots of hidden costs from naively thinking we could limp through.

sarahhh1984 · 30/09/2016 08:13

Mumi, DH and I moved into a complete dump about three years ago. Lovely house in our dream area but it was a wreck inside having been a student rental for about eight years!

We thought we'd do it one room at a time but ended up getting impatient and cancelled our big white wedding that we had planned and used the savings to get a new kitchen and bathroom!

All of the other rooms we did ourselves and it's actually easy to do them on a budget if you take your time and shop around, especially if it's just cosmetic work that needs doing. But we've had no kids for those three years so we were able to just spend on the house.

I'm with everdene, if you're seriously thinking of buying, get someone to go in before you commit to anything and look at the plumbing, heating, electrics etc. Our boiler went within a month of us moving in and it was an unexpected cost we just didn't need. If you can, get an estimate for the modernisation work that needs doing and use it to negotiate the price down. If there hasn't been a lot of interest then they may be happy to drop the price a bit further.

Good luck!

Prive120 · 30/09/2016 08:16

mumi DH and I also bought in Feb but ours is a complete tip. We're in the middle of re-wiring, adding central heating and in week 3 of a 10 week extension... But it was the only way to buy in our dream area and I wouldn't change it for the world.
It just depends on what works for you. It's certainly not for everyone. Good luck

My scan is in a few hours. Fingers crossed

marmitecheesetoast · 30/09/2016 08:21

How are you this morning Rhubarb? Hope you're ok Flowers

I've started the day violently throwing up two dry water biscuits and a load of bile Hmm I'm thinking that doesn't bode well for the rest of the day!

TopKittyKat · 30/09/2016 08:33

rhubarb - thinking of you this morning. I hope all is ok.

mumi - we're another one for buying a 'doer upper' a few years ago. We've been very slowly doing it up. Queue pregnancy and now it's a mad panic to get it semi reasonable in time for the baby arriving.

I do think buying as soon as you can is a good idea but I also think, like others have said, you need to check out how much is involved in this. Houses have a habit of being far far far more work than anticipated.

Bellatrixandstrange · 30/09/2016 09:10

mumi we bought our 'project' because it was in the perfect place and it could be the perfect house that we could no way afford if it was done. We have spent the last year saving to make it safe, electrics, asbestos removal, new plumbing. We are now going room to room. It had been fine so far, I just shut the door on the rooms we are working on. I'm worried about the kitchen, but it won't be forever. At the end of it we will have the forever home we will bring our children up in.
If it is the right place for you go for it and keep remembering the end game!

MrsRhubarb · 30/09/2016 09:17

Rough night sleep wise, but no other issues thank goodness. DM is keeping DD for the morning too so hopefully I can have a doze and catch up on some of the sleep I lost. There was a bit more bleeding before bed, but it wasn't any worse than before. No pain, just feeling rather wiped out this morning.

DH is telling his boss this morning, as we always planned to tell them once the scan was okay so going ahead with that. I'll then stick an announcement on FB, but they need to know first as him and his wife are both on my friends list.

Our house is an, ahem, work in progress. We got a lot done before DD was born, replastering and decorating upstairs, new boiler to replace the ancient and inefficent back boiler, new guttering and fascias etc. The kitchen is still dire, but will be a huge undertaking that we are just not in the place to do right now. I sometimes look enviously at my friends nice, neat rented homes but I know in the long run we will have a lovely home, and be mortgage free, so that keeps me going. Even when the neighbours do pop round to let you know while they were having some work done on their chimney the builder noticed your ridge tiles are cracked. Sigh.

choccybiscuit · 30/09/2016 09:33

I'm glad you've had no further bleeding this morning mrs. Today I've started spotting again, more of a deep pink colour. I'm sick to death of it. Scan not until next Friday, seems ages away.
