Behold, the wonder of birth! Members from 6 weeks bfp to post-partum wonder Mamas! No question to grotty or minging.

We've come full circle from obsessing about cervical mucus to now obsessing if it's our vagina baby plug going! What larks!

Lots of talk about poo, ours and now babies too! Baby brain is REAL! This heat can kiss my arse. And who KNEW being so neurotic about which changing mat to buy could be so satisfying and addictive!

Sooo many gorgeous babies now! And equally lovely Mummy's! We are amazing! What a year! Can you believe it's been a year since our first tentative TTC thread!? Look how far we've come!

Roll up, literally, in my case, cause I'm practically rotund! for TTC #1 Grads!

Aaww congratulations Indi and what a beautiful name!!!

Hope the gaviscon helps Bunch

Lovely hearing abou Arya's developments Potato gorgeous

Good work on the public BFing Miley I can imagine it must be really daunting the first time but great once you've done it! And must more civilised enjoying a brew at the same time than sitting in the loo!!

Glad to hear things are moving again Feefs you need to keep pestering them if they slow down again!

Sorry to hear you've both been feeling so rough Fishy and damson I know it feels like it'll never end but there is an end in sight in a few weeks time! I think I'm coming out the other side now (although last time I said that I had renowned bout of sickness for 2 weeks even worse than before!) I've only been sick one this week so far and less nausea. Still tired but not as bad - no longer napping after work! Just falling asleep at 9-9.30pm! That first early scan is and amazing feeling isn't Damson, especially seeing and hearing the heartbeat! Congrats on your prawn!! Grin

I've started a bio oil evening regime now so will see how I go!

Also, last night and this morning I've been getting sometimes dull ache, sometimes really sharp stabby pain up my fanjo/across lower abdomen. Mainly when I've coughed, bent over etc, last night was having the duller aches just when I was sat still and lying in bed as well though. Is this round ligament stretching pain??

AudreyBradshaw · 06/10/2016 10:25

may it's having one yellow wall with the other three white (mainly because my dsis in her infinite wisdom decided to paint one wall magenta while she lived in there (prior to us moving back home) so I'm hoping it wont take all weekend of layering white on before I can do a yellow top coat! We've got all next stuff 'little zoo' which will do for either so keeping neutral is needed! Grin which baby show are you going to?

potato it made us laugh when we realised the dexter reference Grin just want to get it done now, I've forgotten half of what we still need to get because it's all been in cupboards so long!

bunch you are doing a fantastic job, your boobs are doing a fantastic job! You are awesome and brilliant.

Indi thank goodness all is well! I do love the name Autumn, so pretty! And excellent news on feeding! Well done Mama!

miley you definitely deserve a duvet day!

AudreyBradshaw · 06/10/2016 10:28

Marmite I had the stabby stretchy pain, I just assumed it was ligaments. Blooming uncomfortable though!

Good luck with HV and your walk potato all will be fine I'm sure! Grin

Wow lots to catch up!

Indi glad you are feeling well and enjoying the snuggles. I secretly miss hospital toast!

Bunch hope Atticus is feeling more comfortable with the gaviscon!

Miley well done on the trip out. The first day home from hospital our Head teacher at work's husband appeared to visit uninvited while bodhi was on the boob and I was in pjs. Then most the tech department appeared. Was also ready to defend any comments.

Wow this board makes me feel like the biggest failure for struggling to breastfeed and swapping to formula Sad

Little lad has his camera up his winky bladder investigation today. His permenant antibiotic dose has been upped x4 last 24 hours in preparation for it and has really upset his tummy. Not looking forward to watching him have everything done to him later at all.

AudreyBradshaw · 06/10/2016 11:11

nev Bodhi is being fed, that's what's important, boob, bottle, whatever, he's fed. You are a wonder Mummy! Youve had such a difficult time with him being in and out of hospital and have coped immeasurably amazingly! You are an inspiration and formula feeding is nothing to feel bad about in any way. He's full, thats what matters! Hope all goes well this afternoon, poor little man. Will be thinking of you and Bodhi this afternoon Flowers

OP posts:
Pinklily1 · 06/10/2016 11:15

nev, do not feel bad for using formula! I really struggled with feeding to start with and Evelyn has therefore been combination fed since birth. As far as i am concerned there is no right or wrong way to feed a baby. The main thing is that our babies are getting the amount of milk they need.

Sorry if I have missed this, but why does Bodhi have to have more tests?

miley, well done on the public feeding. I've not done it yet, and I think the longer I leave it the more nervous I will get. Did you do it in a cafe?

bunch, I hope the gaviscon helps.

potato, hope the six week check goes well.

Hope everyone else is going ok!

Evelyn has been weighed this morning and is 9lbs 11oz at four weeks old. She was 8lbs at birth so is doing well!

AudreyBradshaw · 06/10/2016 11:16

I'm being passive aggressive. Dh has his dentist appt at 12. He's still not opened his eyes other than to complain that I was "being noisy" at 9:45 am. He's going to get the shock of his bastard life when there's a squealing baby and he cant have his 9 hours of beauty sleep. Because every time he is noisy at night, he shall be getting up, I've decided! If he can't be quiet, he can suffer! I shall do a hollow laugh.

OP posts:
Mileymoocow · 06/10/2016 12:56

marmite yup! Sounds like stretching pains, I remember them well. It was daunting but I'm pleased I did it.

nev don't be silly! As long as Bodhi is fed then that's all that matters, I'm just so so soo lucky that we took to it but I really did nearly give up around day 3. I assumed it would be easy and it is so difficult. I hope he's OK, he's really going through it SadFlowers

Audrey your DH is in for a shock! I'd love to see him keep a baby quiet when it's 'making too much noise'!!! Give him a hoof up the butt. Your nursery sounds lovely, I'd like to see it when it's done if you're willing to share? We went with yellow and circus animals too Grin

pink yes, in Costa and at baby clinic but that one doesn't really count Evelyn sounds like she's doing amazingly well! I'm loving watching the thread babies thrive Grin

LisaTheSimpson · 06/10/2016 14:29

Congrats Indi, amazing news! So glad you and Autumn are doing well! FlowersStarFlowersStarFlowers

Sorry, I've been finding it so hard to keep up on this board - how do you new mummies do it?? I've missed you all so much.

Our daughter Quinn has been keeping us uber busy since we got home from the hospital earlier this week. She was born on Saturday, but we had to stay in for a bit as it was an emergency c-section (she was fine).

Birth story was a bit traumatic (my eyes still fill with tears when I think about it, even just writing these words now and not even saying what happened makes me cry). Definitely something I need to get over. Brief story - waters broke on Wednesday morning, induced on Thursday morning, got to fully dilated late on Friday night and pushed for 90 minutes, but she wasn't coming, so rushed for an EMCS and she was born just after midnight.

Anyway, she's here safe and sound, which is all that matters. Now to figure out the breastfeeding thing! Been ok-ish so far, but latching can be very painful.

Hope everyone is doing well - I've missed keeping up with you guys!

Canters15 · 06/10/2016 14:34

Huge congrats indi! She sounds gorgeous. Will be keen to hear about your post section recovery and so glad you've got feeding started already.

Oh nev, don't feel bad about switching to formula. I honestly believe women can get too hung up on the 'breast is best' message, it's great if it works out but when mums in pain or baby isn't thriving or it just doesn't feel right then who cares how baby is fed. When you see the amount of rubbish that kids shovel in once they hit party age it somehow seems much less important how they were fed as a baby! You made the right choice for your boy, and that was to feed him. Hope all goes well with his camera test.

audrey, I fully agree with your decision to wake your dh up at night when baby is here! Honestly, 9.45!

Consultant appointment tomorrow to hopefully get date for my section.....I'm nervous! Will be exciting to know when he's coming.

Canters15 · 06/10/2016 14:40

Just saw your post lisa. Big hugs to you, it sounds rough. Don't be ashamed of feeling upset about your birth- there's this attitude with childbirth that because you get a baby out of it you shouldn't feel bad for what happens along the way, and yet being rushed for any other kind of emergency surgery would be petrifying and everyone would expect you to take time to come to terms with it. So don't feel bad about needing to take time, you poor love.

LisaTheSimpson · 06/10/2016 15:40

Thank you Canters, that means a lot. I'm crying again just reading your post - think the emotional hormones have kicked in!

AudreyBradshaw · 06/10/2016 17:13

Congratulations lisa on your beautiful baby girl Quinn! What a blessing! canters is right though, birth is traumatic, don't feel guilty for being upset about it being scary or not how you thought it was going to be. It's one of those things we have absolutely no control over! You birthed a baby! You are amazing! Flowers

Will definitely share when it gets done miley hoping dh doesn't cock up the painting too much! I sound awful about him at the minute, I love him to death but jeez could I strangle him sometimes! Grin

OP posts:
mayago · 06/10/2016 17:43

Congratulations Lisa! I love the name you've chosen. I think it's easy to be focused on the newborn in your arms (or the exit route unpleasantness) before birth happens, and not how it actually impacts you as a mum. Hope you're feeling okay, and that breastfeeding goes well for you both.

Stardrey I'm with you on the 'loving OH but could strangle him' sentiment. I asked mine to clean my velux windows while I was away, and he managed to ruin the paint under the windows. So now I have a bigger task than just cleaning the windows. We're at the Baby and Toddler show in Manchester on Saturday. I'm assuming we'll be able to agree on and buy all the things we need while there. The most wishful thinking ever Grin Your nursery plans sound fantastic; yellow is such an uplifting colour.

Canters how exciting to possibly have a date! I hope the consultant appointment goes well.

Pink glad Evelyn is doing well and gaining weight.

Nev I can understand how you're feeling, but please know you're doing a great job! Bodhi's little tummy is still getting full of food. You're so strong for your son as he goes through all these treatments and tests.

How did the HV visit go potato?

Feefeefs · 06/10/2016 17:46

Feeling very sorry for myself, physio today for ongoing pelvic girdle pain and basically now I need crutches. She is letting me try a different type of belt first and but basically it's crutches time. Really upset as it will make work difficult just less than 6 weeks left and 5 of those are 4 days, boss is going to try and make stuff easier so I can continue for awhile but difficult to crutch around the wards Sad

Good luck with the consultant tomorrow canters.

Hope you feel better soon Lisa

AudreyBradshaw · 06/10/2016 17:51

may you can have mine! He's obsessed with cleaning the bastard windows at the moment! Inside and out! We're going to the Manchester baby show tomorrow, I'm quite looking forward to it! Yellow is one of my favourites, it was our wedding colour and just always makes me happy!

Awww crikey feef you poor bugger, that's awful for you! Flowers really hope the new belt works and you don't need the crutches.

OP posts:
Pinklily1 · 06/10/2016 18:24

Oh bless you feefs, that sounds horrible. Are you on your feet a lot at work? Does rest help at all?

Enjoy the baby show tomorrow audrey. We've gone with yellow in the nursery too - one yellow wall and the rest white. It makes it look nice and fresh, but also cosy at the same time.

Hope you enjoy the baby show too May, and that you find a house you like at the weekend.

Sorry to hear about the sickness canters.

How is Atticus today Bunch?

That sounds traumatic Lisa. I hope you are on the mend now and that Quinn is doing well.

I ordered my wedding dress today Grin. And shoes, and veil and head jewel stuff! I'm usually a size 10 and needed to order a size 12 in the dress, so I'm pretty pleased with that four weeks after having Evelyn. I just need to get back to running to get rid of the rest of the weight.

Feefeefs · 06/10/2016 18:58

Congratulations on getting your dress pink! When is your wedding?

Rest helps when I'm resting but it doesn't really carry over if you know what I mean? I work in a hospital so on the wards on my feet a lot and over and back from office etc. I don't drive either so it's about 15 minutes from the train station too. Actually couldn't drive now even if I wanted too. Can't really sit in that positionSad just had all these hopes for a lovely active preganancy and I really like my job ugh just moany now

LovelyFishy · 06/10/2016 18:59

Nev I'm a formula/bottle baby and I've the best immune system in my family! Baby's getting fed and that's all he needs, you're doing great.

Audrey I think love and a wish to strangle are all part of the same parcel!

Lisa congratulations on a beautiful new baby girl!

Feefs sorry about the crutches, that must be one of the last things you wanted! At least work are trying to be supportive? Confused

Pink yay on the wedding dress! At only 4 weeks post birth you give me hope!

Anti-nausea meds are actually magic beans, I feel like a mostly-human person again! Grin

PotatosMum · 06/10/2016 21:05

Nev I didn't even try boob and Arya is thriving so it can't do them that much harm. In the developed world all the studies say that the advantage of boob over bottle really is minimal so I really wouldn't worry.

Lisa it takes a while to get over birth especially if things were tense but you will get over it and soon it will be a distant memory, you're allowed to be traumatised, birth is traumatic even if everything goes to plan.
Don't worry about not being able to keep up with the thread, I think nearly all of us struggled in the first couple of weeks -- then you learn to type with one hand Wink

Feef sorry you need crutches, that sounds awful.

Pink yay! For buying a dress. Can you share a photo?

Fishy glad the meds are working.

HV went really well, she was impressed with Arya's development and the fact that I'm already reading to her daily, doing tummy time, varying where she spends her day, exposing her to lots of music (her favourites seem to be Enya and Michael Jackson) and encouraging her to play with toys. Basically we're doing everything right and she didn't have to give me any of her pre-prepared lectures Grin
She gave us book bag and a couple of board books and checked that I had Arya's immunisations booked and that I was happy for her to have all of them. She also weighed Arya's and she's put on weight again, she's now 10lb Shock she's grown out of some of the clothes people bought her before she's even worn them!

Today I bought the tree decal for her room and her lullago crib. Can't wait for them to arrive. Grin

BunchOfBobs · 06/10/2016 21:16

Nev do not feel a failure. As long as baby is fed that's what's best. You're doing amazing, I don't know how you got through hospital and all the tests he's having done , just Atticus' jabs near broke me. Have you tried putting Bodhi on probiotic drops to help counteract the antibiotics? We used biogaia drops, really helped with the tummy upset.

Lisa Quinn is a gorgeous name. Are you going to share photos of little one? Feeling upset about it is completely normal. You did amazing and now she's here SmileI only manage to catch up about once a day so don't worry about it.

Oh Feefs poor you. I suffered with PGP but never needed crutches. Just so you know it's completely disappeared now and actually posse doff during labour which was great!! It won't be forever.

Eek Pink how exciting. I'm so impressed with how quickly you've picked a dress. I tried on 51 in the end Hmm

Well done Arya and of course you Potato. I'm not doing that much with Atticus- I really should pull my finger out.

Atticus had a great nights sleep, just up for feeds and back down again. Wouldn't take much of the bottle of gaviscon- thought the teat was a dummy, when the milk/gaviscon came out you should have seen the disgust on his face. It made me feel better. Although todaybive discovered I am the reason he's not gaining weight properly. At the end of each feed he gets really fussy on the boob, keeps trying to latch then gets angry and kicks and punches and cries. Give him the dummy and he's happy. I took that to mean he wants to suckle but gets angry at the milk- I named it boob rage. Well today I plumped for winding him at this moment. He then took the same amount of feed he already had. So basically I've been starving my child and giving him a dummy instead of milk. Wtf?!
He's had a hideously screaming day with no obvious reason. We had an osteo appointment and I mentioned his jabs. She thinks it's him still reacting to them as he's all tight in his chest and abdo. A dose of calpol and he's happy again- god I love the stuff!! Fingers crossed he's feeling happier tomorrow.

PotatosMum · 06/10/2016 22:07

Bunch you were not starving Atticus, it's trial and error. You now know boob rage means wind and have adjusted accordingly. I'm sure he'll make up for it in no time!

My HV said its best to give a dose of calpol as a preventative after jabs as it can make babies feel rubbish.

PotatosMum · 06/10/2016 22:10

A couple of you have an app to put text onto photos, can you tell me what it is? Grin

BunchOfBobs · 06/10/2016 22:45

Thanks Potato Smile. I use snapseed, I think Miley is using it too.

Nevlet · 07/10/2016 03:15

Thank you all so much for the pep talk! I feel so horribley guilty that Bodhi got so poorly and blame myself even though I know there is nothing I could have done to prevent it!

Scan went very well he was so well behaved even when they were putting the tube up his winky. The dye didn't travel back from his bladder towards his kidneys and his bladder fully contracted and emptied each time he had a wee. Consultant happy all looked normal but wants to review still images of renal structures in detail before next appointment. He still needs a repeat ultrasound next month to see if swelling has gone down in kidneys- if consultant is happy with that too then he should avoid any more investigation for now and will just be monitored regularly until he is 3. I can't believe how little fuss he made of the whole thing- the only part I will tell him about when older was how the size of his apparently not so little winky was commented on. And there was me thinking its tiny!! Blush
