and seeing as our usual topics are quite , seemed appropriate somehow

For what it's worth, the best mother I know (in terms of how great her kids are, how much I trust her advice, how calm she manages to be) has five children: four planned and one her 'little surprise' as she calls her (which I think is lovely). I wish I was young enough to have a huge brood, and I am really of those of you brave enough to go with it. Fantastic. I'll shut up now, as I have no experience on this to share (bump is only my second, and I shan't be having more than two children), but I wanted to say that people who react nastily are just that: nasty!

flumppootle · 06/02/2007 19:29

Thanks Bugmum
I know its their problem but I still find it so hard
What do you teach????

10weeksandcounting · 06/02/2007 19:31

It used to really upset me the comments made about me having three - then about it being another boy 'oh poor you' WTF? We haven't put our shit shields on for a while - maybe now its getting cloer we need to slip them over our bumps!

cazboldy · 06/02/2007 19:39

flumppootle, yes completely outrageous comments like "oh no poor you" and "was it an accident" wonder if this is compounded as I am only 25?
Also "do they all have the same dad?"
Last week in the supermarket the lady on the till said "Are they all yours?" I said "no I like taking other people's kids shopping!"
Honestly though, as long as you are happy, who gives a stuff what anyone else thinks!
As for the odd wobble about managing, can honestly say that yes I do have them, but I have done with each and every pg so far, just think it's a natural reaction to a change you are going through, and you know you will cope in the end.....

eca · 06/02/2007 19:48

hey all

am feeling knackered tonight, i think my late night youthwork last night is catching up with me.

I feel a bit funny thinking about bf infront of people (1st timer alert!). I don't particularly mind other women, but not men. Thought of bf infront of dad or fil makes me cringe!

As for people staying - huge dilema for us. Well, not dilema exactly, we know we don't want anyone staying over for a couple of weeks at least, but all my family live away. Daren't tell sis that I don't want her staying, I think she thinks she'll move in (along with niece!) Eeek. Gonna be awkward. Going to try to arrange alternative accomodation before i tell them!

Maveta - no hiccups here either!

Nutty/WO - we live away from either family too. Can be really hard not being able to just pop in on family. It always has to be arranged and then you're with them for a really intense time (with them staying over) and then don't see them for ages!

Forgotton everything else. Hope you're all ok!
x

Sexonslightlypuffylegs · 06/02/2007 20:06

Bloody hell. I leave the room briefly and you lot are at it again yakking!

Cannot remember a thing that has been said either even though I have just read all the posts.

Sounds lke we are all doing ok, apart from the aches and pains.

Loving the talk about people coming over after the birth. I am dreading it. I am happy for my parents to come as I am really close to them, but my inlaws drive me insane!

Mammyjo, so awful to hear about the lady at your lo's school losing her baby. Dreadful. Makes me thank my lucky stars.

God, really can't remember anything else.

Knackered here again, and baby is once again going mad. Also watching Holby and am disappointed to see bloody Patsy Kensit is now settled in. I hate her!!

Sorry for being crap and not responsding to everyone individually - it is not personal!

Love to everyone. xx

flumppootle · 06/02/2007 20:18

Thanks cazboldy
I know that I will cope just cant get my head round it all
at your comments from others, loved your reply to the till operator

EllieKwithabigbump · 06/02/2007 20:23

sorry caz, just realised that was another one of those awful comments

WestCountryLass · 06/02/2007 20:28

So many messages and so little time as I am shattered, suffice to say I have read the messages and am sorry I can't reply to them all.

Got up at the crack of dawn as was expecting a painter and decorater who didn't turn up..., got DS to school, went swimming, dropped DD off at ILs, dashed home to get changed, went to DHs Grandmas funeral, dashed back to pick up DS from school and DD from ILs, had to clear up the breakfast stuff and do laundry etc that I do before school, did tea and am now in bed watching Holby, first time I have sat down all day!!!

oooggs · 06/02/2007 20:56

Just had a scare! Took ds to nusery on Monday and on the way I felt really dizzy and thought I was going to pass out over the wheel Traffic was heavy and I couldn't pull over also had no phone or money and was wearing my pj top under my coat (had planned to drop him off then go back to bed!!!). Managed to get to nursery and collapsed as soon as I walked through the door. They rang dh who came to get me and we went to hospital. Spent 6 hours in the labour suite then went to the maternity ward. Nothing wrong with the twins at all.
I had a high temp, racing pulse, anemic, very tired, very dizzy and a water infection. They kept me in for a while and I have been home about half an hour. Just about to go to bed.

flumppootle · 06/02/2007 21:04

OMG oogs - what a fright. Hope that you can get lots of rest for a few days. Take Care of yourself.

WCL what a busy day you have had sounds like you need a rest too

Just been on bun run and dh has made the pot of tea so have a good evening all.

AngeG · 06/02/2007 21:07

Oooggs - How scary for you. Glad you're home now & that everything is ok with the twins. Maybe it's a polite reminder that you need to take things really easy

WCL - Wow that sounds like a really hectic day! Hope you're ok. Can you take it a bit easier tomorrow? Thinking of you

EllieKwithabigbump · 06/02/2007 21:09

sorry to hear that ooogs, must have been very scary x
maybe it'd be best to go out dressed from now on tho

OP posts:
Sexonslightlypuffylegs · 06/02/2007 21:13

Oh Oogs, how terrifying for you. I am pleased the babes are ok. Please look after yourself and take it easy.

WCL, sounds as if you have had a whirlwind day as well.

There is just no rest for us is there!

Flump, enjoy your bun!

I have had a lovely cake today thanks to my boss. It was his birthday over the weekend, and the policy is that we bring in cakes. Nothing yesterday, and then at 3.00 today we dropped huge hints, and he went out and bought 25 cakes! There were only 3 of us in!! I hasten to add I only had 1 cake and there is shelf life on the others!

I am going to head to bed shortly as well, so see you all tomorrow.

MIABT, you haven't been on for a while, hope all is ok.

AngeG · 06/02/2007 21:20

Allen out at the football with his brother, so had a nice quiet evening. He's also going to do the food shopping on his way back...he's too good sometimes.

Night all. I'm off to bed now.
Hope you all have a good nights sleep...well as good as any of us can with big bumps in the way.

Sexonslightlypuffylegs · 06/02/2007 21:21

Ange, I don't think I have seen so many posts from you in one day!! It's lovely to see you!

Enjoy your sleep! x

Bugmum · 06/02/2007 21:27

Grrr, lost my connection!
Flump you probably aren't there anymore and I'm not stopping, but I hate not answering direct questions and I know I'll forget if I leave it. I teach English lit, specializing in the - wait for it - Tragedy paper

Here's to a good, peaceful, cheery day tomorrow

cazboldy · 06/02/2007 21:31

hope you are feeling better now oooggs!
no worries Ellie but yes that is one of the more common ones, along with haven't you got a tele? and don't you know what's causing it yet? etc!
I started very young, met my hubby at 13 pg at 14,
ds1 born 2 months before I turned 15
married at 16
dd born when I was 18
ds2 born when I was 19
and ds3 when I was 24, but I am very happy with my lot! (well most of the time anyway!)

EllieKwithabigbump · 06/02/2007 21:33

i get the tv comment from the lads in the workshop at work, and i'm only on number 2!

mammyjo · 06/02/2007 21:35

Ooogs, glad to hear you are feeling better and are back home. Get your feet up girl!!

WCL, much too busy a day for me to contend with at the moment! Hope you are not too exhausted.

Flump, I have serious bun envy. I want one but will not be going out on a bun run as I have my pj's on!

Off to bed soon so night all xx

Emmymummy · 07/02/2007 07:51

Morning. Oogggs - glad you're OK - you take it easy girl.

Quick question before I start the school run - do I buy a new mattress for the cot or not? The mattress we have has only been used by Emily for approx. 2 years. She was never a sicky baby, and it was an expensive one (over £100). It has a zip-off cover that is washable, so is clean. It's just that all the guidance says new mattress for each baby. Why? Are you all re-using your ones from previous dcs? Any advice?

Thanks!

Sexonslightlypuffylegs · 07/02/2007 08:26

Morning all.

Emmymummy, we are using the same matress. I did contemplate buying a new one, but we are the same in that B used it for 2 years, was never sick in her cot, and has the washable cover that zips off. I have washed and dried it, and it is fine. I think they suggest that you don't use matresses from unknown sources iyswim.

Hope everyone is ok.

I am knackered again - nothing new there. Back and ribs ache a lot at night. Also dh had to get up at 5.30 to go to Derby and it took me an age to drop off again. Fortunately B didn't get up until 7.30 which was lovely.

Anyway, need to get on. Have a lovely day all. Will be back later.x

muminabigtumi · 07/02/2007 08:28

Just posting before I catch up with you all - been lurking a bit for the past few days...
More bugs in this house!!GRRR James is absolutley full of green snot again and his temp was up and down yesterday (my day off) so I have rung in this morning and taken the day off as there is no way he can go to nursery as he is just not well. Of course I feel realy guilty about ringing in to work as we are short staffed as it is...sigh childcare eh! Don't you just love it.
Not alot to report here to be honest. Plodding on...at least thats how I feel...had a massive energy spurt yesterday and was cleaning - kitchen cupboards out and all kinds and now I'm just exhausted! WHEN will I learn!
James and Mummy are going to have a very lazy day today....will catch up at some point. Hope you are all well.

cazboldy · 07/02/2007 08:31

All of mine put together probably haven't used the cot as much as 1 baby, as they have spent the majority of the time in my bed!
I think that it is best to use common sense a little bit and if it is not very old/mis-shapen or stained it is probably o.k.
Mine has only been used for the last one who is 13 months now as I had a 5 year gap in the middle, and thought it best to replace it and is the same as yours with a removable washable cover.
