Starting a fresh new thread for us!

I think Fedup asked about Elderberries and if anyone had heard from her... I haven't seen her name pop up in a while, but I'm not on the FB group either. I've been wondering the same about almondbutter, haven't seen her on here for a while now and know she was really suffering with sickness.

Sooo agree about bending over. Just told my husband that was his job for the foreseeable future.

LittleGreyCatwithapinkcollar · 05/09/2016 23:24

Glad it's not just me. I found my classroom had been cleaned over the summer today. All (low level) bookcases emptied and contents left piled on desks. My only feasible option was to sweep it all on to the floor, sit down on said floor and go from there. Not my most dignified moment!!

Spottyladybird · 06/09/2016 05:49

DD had a lovely morning. She's three and goes to a school based nursery so was off in her uniform today, she just looked so tiny but is totally ready! Thanks all.

Yep bending is not happening. Thought about rearranging the kitchen to accommodate it but that might be too much effort.

tiredmumrighthere · 06/09/2016 10:22

Morning all,

So I just received a phone call from my gp about the results of the urine and vaginal swab, and although she didn't give much away she said that organisms were found and that she had a prescription of antibiotics waiting for me to collect, but then she also said that there is a letter also that needs picking up that needs to go in my notes that explains that I need antibiotics during labour, so I'm guessing that's strep b? She said that my consultant will go through it all with me tomorrow, so now I'm worrying Sad

salemtheteenagecat · 06/09/2016 11:27

Hi guys, I just wanted to drop in as now I am on maternity leave I feel I can join in now rather then just scanning through! I hope it's ok to drop in late in the game!

I am 31+6 with my first due 2nd November Truly exhausted old knee injury playing havoc with my back, carpel tunnel and morning sickness has decided to come back Hmm.

Off to antenatal class this evening! Anyone else been? Or have experience of what to expect?

X

helenatroy · 06/09/2016 11:38

I start NCT tonight and have a lactation lesson tomorrow. It's getting real now and the date for my c section is 7 November. Excited. Back giving me gyp and heartburn a nightmare but ok. How are we all feeling.

RuskBaby · 06/09/2016 14:06

tired don't panic, if it is group b strep you can have it one day and it be gone soon after. This far out, tell them you want retesting nearer the time if indeed it is group b.

sale welcome

helen please let us know how you get on at NCT, mine doesn't start until the 27th, rally looking forward to it.

tiredmumrighthere · 06/09/2016 14:31

Thank you rusk- I picked up the letter from my gp and it is group b strep Sad

I've got a growth scan tomorrow and seeing my consultant so I'll go over it with them x

FuzzyOwl · 06/09/2016 15:54

Sorry to hear that tired but better it has been picked up and you will receive antibiotics during labour than to not know.

Hello and welcome Salem.

My NCT classes have already begun and seem ok so far. Everyone is friendly and hopefully we will bond well.

Fedupithink · 06/09/2016 16:19

Is Group B strep routinely tested for or is it something they do on request/due to history?

I'm feeling much better today, much more sane! These hormones are no joke.

Good luck tonight Helen mine don't start until the 29th, let us know how you get on.

FuzzyOwl · 06/09/2016 17:25

It isn't routinely tested here Fedup.

tiredmumrighthere · 06/09/2016 18:01

Fedup- My mw did the dipstick test on my urine and said there was blood in it, so asked me to do a midstream sample the next day which was sent off to my local hospital and then results came back today, I didn't think it was routine but maybe it's looked into further if something's detected? I was going to pay privately for the test as it's only £32, I've seen so many awful things on fb about it and a girl I know gave birth to her baby and passed it on and he was really poorly so I'm glad it's been detected that I'm a carrier as now I can be given the antibiotics when labour starts x

RosyP13 · 06/09/2016 18:46

Are you all more organised than me with regards to carrying your notes around and knowing your hospital number / emergency contact details for hospital etc? By 2pm today I'd felt no movement at all since last night and felt I ought to get it checked out, but I didn't have my notes or any details of who to contact. I rang my gp and luckily it's the day the midwife works, so she was able to give the receptionist the number for the pregnancy assessment unit. I rang them (took ages to get through!) and was told off repeatedly for not having my notes or knowing my hospital number. I couldn't even remember the name of my midwife! They found me in the system eventually. I went in and was hooked up to a heartbeat machine for an hour and it seems everything's fine :) having a scan on Thursday to double-check. I've had a few movements already since coming home so I'm less worried now. I've certainly learnt my lesson and will now keep my notes in the car and have stored hospital number and contact details in my phone!

Ionacat · 06/09/2016 21:13

I took photos of my pregnancy notes when I went on holiday so now have them on my phone in case of emergencies. I don't want to carry them around as I'd probably lose them.
I'm not doing ante-natal as this is no.2 for me, but I did do pregnancy yoga tonight, so feeling very relaxed and zoned out. I did enjoy the NCT ones last time. I was not one of the group invited back to share my experiences with the group as we joked afterwards DD's appearance was anything but calm, and NCT like. Think more Holby City!! I'm hoping no.2's appearance won't be quite as dramatic. Although I was invited back later for to talk about breast feeding. Lanisoh and lots of it!!

Gembear25 · 07/09/2016 08:13

Morning all
31+6 here and was measuring at 34+ yesterday so have been referred for a growth scan and also to see consultant due to my concerns about scar tissue from my episiotomy with number 1. Rather surprised (but pleased) they they took my concerns so seriously!
Hope everyone has a good day 😊

Thanks Tired that's good to know. I'll ask my midwife about testing next week I think.

Had a weird dream last night,I'd had the baby but they wouldn't let us take her home because they didn't like the clothes we had chosen Hmm Always seem to have odd dreams after pregnancy yoga, must be the solid hour of concentrating on baby and nothing else plus the relaxation.

helenatroy · 07/09/2016 08:45

NCT last night.
Hippie type leader - check
Lovely other expectant parents - check
Sitting in a circle talking- check
Cringeworthy moments- not so many

All in all worth it, any of you having second thoughts I'd say give it a shot.

CocklesandMussels · 07/09/2016 08:46

It's all starting to feel real now isn't it? All the talk of NCT and section dates etc. I haven't got a date yet but hoping to find out next week.
We moved to the new flat yesterday, yay! A bit sooner than we thought but that's good. Now we just have to unpack, for me that means taking DD to the park while DH and my dad do the work. I'll have to take them back some beer!

Is anyone else insanely itchy? I've had liver checked and it's fine, but I can't stop scratching. Worse in the evening when I'm tired. I've tried every cream going. Any miracle cures out there?

DuckWaddle · 07/09/2016 09:01

Gembear- let em know what the consultant says re scar tissue. I also saw a consultant about the same issue but they weren't helpful really. I'm in two minds over a c section or natural delivery as I had an awful time with the stitches last time and had to have more operations post birth

Gembear25 · 07/09/2016 09:34

Will do DuckWaddle. My scar tissue still causes problems now 8 years on but stupidly I assumed that it was normal and ignored it. Midwife confirmed yesterday that it's definitely not normal and I shouldn't have ignored it - oops 😕. She thinks another birth might sort it out but I have to say the amount of pain I was in last time makes me think I wouldn't be at all disappointed if they offered me a section - especially if he's gonna be a ginormous baby!

So, I had my group midwife session and the midwife says to one of the girls "oh, I think you're in the wrong session. These ladies are all around 30weeks but you must be 36/37"... Girl says "no no, this is my group, I'm 30weeks". Then the midwife carries on "oh, you must be having TWINS!" Girl says (laughing luckily) "er, nope. Just the one!". We couldn't believe the midwife!! So luckily that the girl was so good natured about it. Poor thing!

DH has just picked up the most gorgeous antique cradle off gumtree. Only $30 as well. So happy. It's just so sweet but needs a bit of a clean up. Eek, definitely getting more real now.

Hope all the teachers are going ok back at school...

tiredmumrighthere · 07/09/2016 11:36

Hi ladies,

Just got home from my growth scan/consultant appointment, baby's growing nicely (she's 3ib 4oz atm), spoke to consultant she's pleased with how I'm going and has placed a big sticker on the front of my notes to alert the midwifes in delivery that I need antibiotics in labour.
Also seeing her again next month after another growth scan Smile

In other news..I had the worst sleep last night, I've developed restless leg syndrome again Sad had it when I was pregnant with my last one and was praying it wouldn't come back this time Confused but there I was at 3:15 this morning sat over the bath with my feet in cool water because I just didn't know what to do with them and they felt so hot...another thing to add to the list of problems x

DuckWaddle · 07/09/2016 11:38

Hi gembear- they seemed to think I shouldn't go for a c section so I'll be interested to hear what they say to you. I was in awful pain last time for 9 months but the op revolutionised it and I hardly feel it now so I'd def recommend pushing for it to be sorted if it doesn't resolve after baby 2.

FuzzyOwl · 07/09/2016 12:03

If you feel an ELCS is right for your Gembear then push for it. Hospitals are more interested in their stats and costs at this stage so although you would get an EMCS if you needed it, you might find they are reluctant to offer an ELCS.

Cockles I find having a bath with loads of Palmer's moisturising oil in it helps me and also E45 anti itch cream.

salemtheteenagecat · 07/09/2016 13:28

Just wondered if anyone has had uti and been given antibiotics in there pregnancy?

Routine midwife appointment on Monday mention felt a bit off so we sent off for testing. Last night was in horrendous pain and this morning every time I went to the loo. Been to the Drs this morning he said more then likely a uti as test would of come back negative within 24hours? Anybody else heard of this?

Anyhow I have got some antibiotics for the next 7 days but have to ring up tomorrow to see if results are back and if I need different antibiotics.

On the fun side my wee is neon green - had a slight panic but read packet that said don't worry completely normal!
