New thread because the old one's about to hit the 1000 posts mark.

foxabout2pop · 04/02/2007 07:51

Rosy - where did you go last night? I often find I really don't want to go out atm but once I'm out I don't want to go home again!!

Morning everyone else

another sunny "spring is coming" day today by the looks of it. I think we're having our LOs at a really good time of year. A few weeks hibernating with them and by the time we're more mobile again after the birth, spring will be arriving...then summer....

36 weeks today (baby boy)

kiwibella · 04/02/2007 09:20

lucky you Foxy... make sure you enjoy the bright day. I have been awake since 3am and it was a beautiful clear night. I got up to try and get comfy on the sofa and I must have fallen asleep sometime after 7, then woken by dd wanting the telly and it's quite overcast and chilly. She has a bday party today. It's the first Sunday that we have had to do anything in ages.

Poor Diva and your headaches. I'm glad that your bp was complying - you are right to get it checked. Hopefully your next trip up will be the real thing.

Have a nice, cosy day Rosy . I think Fox is right - spring is coming and we won't want to be indoors shortly.

Morning everyone. Hope you have a great one

howdoItellmyfamily · 04/02/2007 09:50

It's me, Mossy, I changed my name for a thread I've posted on how to tell my mother. I've changed it in case anyone recognised who I was, from the details. I'd appreciate it so much if you could take a look and offer any advice you have but keep me "anon"!

here it is .

Please if you do get chance!

kiwibella · 04/02/2007 10:05

oh, Mossy... life can be so complicated some times. I have read your thread and have absolutely no idea what you should do. I can totally understand your urge to let your dad know but the fear of your mum causing problems (hope I read that right - maybe I mean complications). I will follow this thread and hope that some wonderful advice comes along. You are so blessed to have such a happy, loving life with your dh and his family.

howdoItellmyfamily · 04/02/2007 10:18

Thanks kiwibella, I think the general consensus seems to be I should wait until he is born then send them a card announcing the birth, that's good because that is sort of what I was thinking of doing in the first place, but was paranoid because it does seem a bit cowardly.

In other news, the fog has cleared here so I might be able to get the sun that most of you had yesterday!

Rosy I'm with you I don't like going out atm, I haven't been "out" out for ages really! It's so nice to come home isn't it!

Diva sorry you had to go the hosi, but I'm sure it's better you went and then got the all clear, than the other way around, iyswim. Have your headaches cleared at all?

I'd better work out how to go and change my name back in a mo!

3rdtriMOSSter · 04/02/2007 10:34

Right I think I have managed to change back.

foxabout2pop · 04/02/2007 11:32

Hi

I have decided to have a "Rosylily Day" today - I have sent DH out with the kids for a couple of hours to enjoy the sun, so I can "nest" in peace.

Mossy, you'd approve, as they've gone to "They Walk Among Us" - a superb geeky shop

BTW Moss, I totally sympathise re. your family. Sometimes I feel that part of my "need" for Mumsnet, is that my own family are so disfunctional and I need to surround myself with lovely people so I feel I've got some support coming from somewhere as I get none from Ma Famille. {sp??}

I hope you get the outcome you want

How is everyone else today?

muppetisacat · 04/02/2007 11:37

Morocco - I'm not having ecv cos I've an anterior placenta, had a heavy bleed at 13 weeks and have had the willies scared out of me about it by 3 different mothers talking about cord accidents!

Sazzy - moxibustion - i'm booked in for some next week but am reconsidering as i say due to playground horror stories. It's basically standing on smelly burning sticks of stuff which puts pressure/heat on areas of your feet which helps encourage the baby to turn... yes it does all sound too good to be true. Might just go for some straight acupuncture instead...

Laidback - your news is an absolute tragedy and I can't imagine how you must all be feeling. Absolutely puts everthing into perspective and I just hope her dh has a strong supportive network to draw on...

Mossy - read your thread - that's some dilemma alright. Sounds like there's some good advice been given already... just try to hold your line and keep believing that you are always doing your best for your family. You sound like a very reasonable and well adjusted person to me - you'll find the best way of dealing with it i'm sure.

divastrop · 04/02/2007 11:50

hi all.my head is still killing me,and the labour ward didnt bother to phone me about blood results.i feel all swollen and horrible as well.i dont know what to do cos i personally dont think its right,my bp was 139/88 whwn i first went there last night, but they say thats ok for me cos i had bp of 140/100 at around 28 weeks...but that was on those stupid portable digital machines in the ante-natal clinic.plus its been around 125/75-130/80 ish for the last 6 weeks.

i just want it over with now,i hate this bit where i get shoved from pillar to post feeling like i'm being silly by some mw's yet being told to take it very seriously by my consultant

moss-i will have a look at your thread when i come back from tesco(the new religion)

its not spring like here, its freezing.

hope everybody is ok.

34+4

Rosylily · 04/02/2007 13:31

Hey moss well done for being so well adjusted!!!! I could talk until the cows come home about the whole religion thing! I'm a vicars daughter, who married a catholic (bit naughty at that time in NI) got divorced, married a muslim...Difference being my family have accepted my choices, are supportive and I hold dear my dad's wisdom about religion and philosophy.

Fox I went to a concert in aid of a refugee organisation here, it was in Belfast city centre, then ended up in a chippy and was very aware of all the drunkards and scantily dressed females(even though I once was amongst them)

It's misty and mysterious here today.

35 weeks today. (boy)

Rosylily · 04/02/2007 13:54

Sorry pregnancy brain...I keep forgetting how public this area is! It feels like an intimate setting but it's not!!!

Booboobedoo · 04/02/2007 16:35

Afternoon lovely ladies.

Apologies for my absence. I was so knocked out by my tax-return/plasterer days (huge, crippling tax bill too) that I spent the day at my Mum's lying on the sofa on Thursday.

Then on Friday the computer got a nasty virus (Spyware), and was out of action. DH fixed it while I was at work on Saturday morning, but was too tired to post on Saturday afternoon. Then went out for a nice country waddle with DH and the dog today.

Laidback: so terribly sorry to hear the news of your friend's death. Her poor, poor husband. A similar thing happened to a friend of mine a few years back when she was 28. It's hard for it to sink in, isn't it? (I'm not in labour btw ).

Mossy: posted on your thread. x

How you doing foxbuddy? I'm so huge it's hard to drag myself out of bed in the morning. Everything clicks and hurts. Ouch.

I've read all the posts, but will try and catch up with you all bit by bit over the next few days.

Last day of teaching tomorrow!

Boobuddy - I can't walk very far and am impressed by you taking the dog for a waddle

Diva - am getting worried too now about your headache. I wouldn't worry about making a fuss, its better to be safe than sorry

Rosy your dad sounds nice

I've been nesting all day - sorting baby clothes and baby boy bnames.

enjoy that mat leave boo! will you be going back afterwards?
am very dizzy after spnding half the day upside down but I would have no idea whether she's turned or not I realise! apart from less kicks in fanjo I suppose
the moxibution is supposed to have a good success rate for turning babies, I've read. I personally 'blame' acupressure for her existence in the first place - I was on a massage course and the teacher wanted to demo the presure points they use to increase fertility - I was the 'victim'. when she pressed on my ankle I felt a sharp pain in my ovaries - a few weeks later and there I was with pregnancy stick in hand
I'm knackered today-how's everyone else?

divastrop · 04/02/2007 17:12

fox-my headache has gone now.i would have thought going to tesco with 3 children (age 14mo-8 years) would have made it worse.maybe im addicted to tesco and the headache was a withdrawal symptom.if it comes back before friday i will see my gp,im seeing the mw again friday anyway.

CallieNewMum · 04/02/2007 18:52

Laidback - so sorry about your friend. The thought of those little ones being deprived of their mother is too heartrending to bear, to say nothing of her husband and family. It's tragic.

hope the rest of you are all well. I'm having a bit of a breastfeeding nightmare atm, coupled with a bit of distinct lack of sympathy and support from a couple of staff members at the uunit - the first I've come across, I must say, the rest have been great by and large - but there we go. I'm probably moving back into hosp tomorrow, room permitting, so I can try to feed (ha!) at night too, so if you don't hear from me for a while that's why. If I'm not on for a while, I wonder if somebody would mind texting me if anyone else has a baby. my no is 07968 693489. I hate not knowing what's going on with the gang.

Much love to all, hope the BHs aren't too unbearable before the real thing. Was it bethoo or sazzy talking about coping on gas and air or am I hakllucinating - it is possible - just suck it down as hard as you can!!! and keep moving!

C&J x
PS I will get around to posting pics soon, promise!

TheBlonde · 04/02/2007 19:12

We are ill again so have only skimmed. DS & I now have flu. DH has escaped so far poss cos he had the flu jab. Fed up of neverending illness but my mom is coming down tomorrow so DH can go to work

Hope everyone has had a good weekend

Laidback - Sorry to hear such tragic news

Callie - Good luck with the night feeds. Hope you get a room etc. I found bf a nightmare for the first 8 or so weeks, can't imagine trying with a premmie and their even smaller mouths. But it did get better

Foxy - I'm not so keen on Adoni (too like Adonis), Kami (bit girlie) or Merloo. But you must go with what you like! Do your other kids have any views?

DollyPopsOut · 04/02/2007 19:41

Hello ladies

Laidback, I am so sorry to hear your sad news. That poor family . Thinking of them all.

Moss - I have tried to post something helpful on your thread. I'd wait until after the birth as I am very wobbly at the moment and couldn't do a confrontation. I also have a theory that babies are very healing and so even if your dad is upset that you haven't mentioned it, he'll be so thrilled by his new grandson that he'll be too wrapped up to mind much.

On a completely different note, you asked me ages ago about bra sizes. I am usually 34H and bought 36g last time because marks and spencer didn't do anything in an H which didn;t look like a parachute. If you'd like them, let me know - if they're no good, feel free to get rid of etc.

Do you know what these names mean? I like the idea of liking the meaning of the name as well as the way it sounds. DD is Lucy, which means light apparently, and I really liked the idea of her having such a positive connotation with her name.

Diva - you should go to the hospital as much as you need. It is essential for someone like you with a history of high BP to keep an eye and if you get any possible symptoms that there might be a problem, you should go. I lived in the day assessment unit in my last pg and they never seemed to mind. Much much better for you (and cheaper for the NHS!) to sort out a possible problem now than to have to admit you when things have got bad. If anyone so much as raises an eyebrow, send them to the thread, and we preg ladies will give them what for! Take care.

Sazzy and Muppet, I know ladies for whom moxy has worked. Can't do any harm, anyway, so must be worth a pop. Let me know how you get on.

Very quiet weekend here. DH went to the rugby yesterday so DD and I had a quiet day at home. Today, DH took DD out so I did some work, lots of laundry and a bit of sleep. More fighting at work to content with tomorrow. My manager sent an email round to everyone saying "X is taking over some of DOlly's role while DOlly is on ML. Rather you than me Dolly" which left me a bit . She also said I couldn't be paid a responsbility payment whilst I am on ML - sorry, love, but that's discrimination on the grounds of pregnancy and therefore illegal. You'd never think I worked with a load of lawyers would you?! anyway,, am spoiling for a fight today and feeling robust so lead me to them!!

ANyone seen Kitty today?

Love to all

foxabout2pop · 04/02/2007 19:42

Thanks gals

Come on everyone else - this is a real opportunity to influence the future by voting on our LOs name - see below!!

foxabout2pop · 04/02/2007 19:46

Dolly - go for it girl, don't let them under pay you. I got stitched in my last job when they paid a male temp maternity cover mote then me to do my job - never again!

We are threatening DH's employers with employment tribunal atm for age discrimination and I'm putting in a pay claim tomorrow for a rise!!

yaheey

divastrop · 04/02/2007 20:03

dolly-at that email!hope you kick some ass tomorrow.

thanks for all your kind words re my headache.i think the feeling of being silly etc was all in my head,in fact when i rang for my blood results(which were all fine)the mw i spoke to said i should really go in and be checked again if my head was still the same.i just think i should know by now what a high bp headache feels like,i should have learnt to tell the difference so that i only go up to the hospital or have the mw come out if its really necessary

callie-i will put your number in my phone and let you know who drops next if you disappear.good luck with the night feeds,it'll be so much more rewarding then getting up to express,i imagine!

theblonde-sorry to hear you are all ill again,i hope its natures way of making the first few months of your baby's life bug-free by getting the illness out the way now.

morocco · 04/02/2007 20:13

hope you are soon on the mend, theblonde - do you have to see a mw if you get flu or just stay at home/take paracetamol etc?

dolly - go girl! get everything you're entitled to

callie - sorry to hear some staff are not as supportive as they could be. have you phoned nct helpline for advice on bf? and mumsnet of course they might have some helpful tips for bf preemies. it sounds like jordie is coming on great anyhow.

it's great having broadband - now I can chat all night
