Because I was really sick and struggling to take it/keep it down. She said all you need is folic acid and vit D. There was research published recently that pregnancy multi vits don't really do anything, and they're bloody expensive! Plus she said that for the first few months the baby will be getting nutrition from your body's existing stores, so not to worry if you're too sick to eat well (unless you have HG obviously).

wornoutboots · 16/08/2016 14:03

pregnacare makes me puke even if I wasn't feeling sick when I took it
"wouldn't bother either if I was you, then!" as a midwife told me when I mentioned it.

Butterpuff · 16/08/2016 14:12

Pregnacare is making me want to puke. But I'm so tight I'm determined to finish the pack I bought before swapping back to just the folic vitamin d lovely tiny tablets I bought when TTC. Hmm

SuperDuperJezebel · 16/08/2016 15:04

My MW told me to stop folic acid from 12weeks and to start normal pregnancy vitamins, but just to get generic ones and don't pay for branded ones.

Have already seen this baby on the scan at the CPU about 10 days ago, I don't know why I'm convinced something has gone wrong. Every time I go to the loo I'm convinced I'll have started bleeding. Need to try and stop being anxious. DP working so late atm it's been hard to have a proper chat.

ElsaMars · 16/08/2016 15:56

Just to let you know I've been for my (3rd) scan and been told I've had a missed miscarriage. I have to have an op on Monday.

Good luck to you all.

wornoutboots · 16/08/2016 16:01

I'm so sorry, Elsa

ElsaMars · 16/08/2016 16:13

Super Sorry to hear you've been feeling so anxious. I don't think you need to "get a grip" (that's never a helpful thing to tell yourself when you're feeling crap!) but you do need to be kind to yourself and find some things to make you feel better. Don't hesitate to talk to your midwife or GP if it's really bad. They might be able to offer CBT which can be very helpful. I also find yoga and mindfulness both help when I'm feeling anxious or down (although I haven't done either for ages Confused). xx

Elsa - for monday you'll have a lot of waiting around before and after, so I'd take lots to read (and snacks for after if you feel hungry)

and I've had 2 children since my first MMC so while it wo n't stop it hurting there is still hope for the future.

Dozygirl · 16/08/2016 17:03

Sorry to hear your update elsa 😓 sending u hugs.

I would love to use a mlu. They tend to me quite modernised and be a 'home from home' environment so you feel calmer and more relaxed and comfortable. 3 of my friends who had babies at similar times all started off in the mlu but ended up on normal delivery suite for failure to progress but they all said they enjoyed being able to use the mlu while they could. I had high bp last time so I couldn't use it but if all goes well this time then id like to push for it. I'm sure they'll find some reason why I can't though be it bmi or because I had a 3rd degree tear last time. Or I might get bp problems again. I'll just go with the flow again and bridge those problems if I get them. As I said before my medicalised birth was really positive for me so it just depends how you look at things. I'm fairly easy going and what will be will be. As long as me and baby are fit and healthy at the end of it then that's all that matters.

I must admit second time around does seem to be going much quicker than first time. I can't believe I'll be 11 weeks tomorrow.

Cantstringawordtogether · 16/08/2016 17:43

Elsa I'm so sorry xxxx

neonrainbow · 16/08/2016 18:41

Imso sorry elsa i hope you've got people looking after you Flowers

Butterpuff · 16/08/2016 18:46

So sorry Elsa take care. X

tutulove1 · 16/08/2016 18:46

Elsa Im so sorry for your loss too.

Dozy I was in the MLU for my second birth after third degree tears. In fact I was in there for both deliveries. Got 2nd degree the 2nd time but that wasn't a problem.
They call it the birth centre here. The consultant led part is just in the next corridor along though so that's reassuring should anything go wrong they can whip me over there.

Rosey135 · 16/08/2016 18:47

So sorry to hear your news Elsa xx

Regarding boilers and Carbon Monoxide, I don't have a boiler in my house as I live in a cottage attached to a holiday cottage and we get hot water and heating from next door, we do have a detector in the house and it hasn't alerted me so far. It was mentioned it could have been my mum's car as she took me to the appointment and she has a rubbish old car, so hopefully that was it and nothing to worry about long term, just wasn't something I'd even thought about.

NoisyLittleLion · 16/08/2016 18:58

So sorry to hear your update Elsa. Be kind to yourself.

SuperDuperJezebel · 16/08/2016 19:05

I'm so sorry Elsa xx

Gardencentregroupie · 16/08/2016 19:22

I'm really sorry about your news else. FWIW I found the op itself to be quick and painless, and once it was over I was able to start grieving properly instead of being in a hideous 'not pregnant but actually still kind of pregnant' limbo Flowers

AngelBlue12 · 16/08/2016 20:09

So sorry Elsa

I had my first appointment at the docs - seems a little pointless tbh, the nurse took name etc, weight and blood pressure to pass on to the MW and that was it!

On the other hand - I can feel my fundus!! Feeling a bit real now!

charlybs · 16/08/2016 20:24

Angel what's a fundus? I wouldn't know whether I could feel mine or not (must read more books)

AngelBlue12 · 16/08/2016 20:28

It's the top of your uterus, if you lie down with a full bladder you should be able to feel it above your pubic bone, it feels like a hard ball :)
