I can't understand why anyone would be asked about termination if ringing up a midwife. If u wanted to terminate you wouldn't ring a midwife for it, there are other people to call for that.

Cloey hope you feel OK and find someone nicer to speak to tomorrow.

I think I get my appointment in the post but last time I didn't hear anything coming up to 12 weeks so I got impatient and rang up and booked my own. Hoping it won't be as disorganised as last time and I'll actually get an appointment through.

Cantstringawordtogether · 14/08/2016 21:56

Cloey sorry you had such an unpleasant experience, definitely complain her!

Noisy you poor thing with the hg :(

Thanks for the spreadsheet namechange, I think I've added myself in there, doing it from my phone so not sure I did it right!

NameChange30 · 14/08/2016 22:00

You're in there cant! I think you've got the earliest due date. And the most DCs obviously Grin

Sorry to hear about your experience, Cloey. It has got me thinking about how many Irish women might have to travel for a termination though, I wonder if the midwife speaks to lots of women in that dreadful position? I'm not excusing her behaviour towards you, just thinking how awful it must be for some women who have to make hard choices and then fight for the next steps.

My scan is on Thursday too. Sometimes I feel very anxious but mostly I can't wait. We have told most of our family already and closest friends but I am looking forward to telling work as it affects the plans for the team. I'm also looking forward to a bit of shopping!

Carolann8584 · 14/08/2016 22:32

OK I'm being a bit Confused how do I add a line on the stat sheet, I can do on a computer tomorrow but just on my phone today Sad x

NameChange30 · 14/08/2016 22:36

Carol If you want you can add yourself to the end and I'll move it to the right place!

How many people are going to buy something after the 12 week scan then?

MrsMushrooms · 14/08/2016 22:49

Finding it a little difficult to keep up!

Cloey, that midwife sounds COMPLETELY out of order. I would absolutely consider complaining! I've also never been asked about termination so I'd challenge any future questions if I were you!

I understand the desire to make sure that women are given the option given that it isn't one they would have at home, and to some extent I can see it taking some pressure off those who have had to travel for a termination to be asked about it rather than being made to ask themselves... But it's just not acceptable to ask everybody with an Irish accent questions like that!! Completely unfair! I suspect it could be well-meaning but it's not a good way to go about it

Carolann8584 · 14/08/2016 22:57

name I can't even add a line at the end Sad must be my phone x

Carolann8584 · 14/08/2016 22:59

neon my OH and I are buying the "going home" outfit after our 12 week scan all being well. Then telling our family and friends x

alphabook · 14/08/2016 23:04

I've already bought something...it's H's birthday the day before the scan so I've bought a "I love my daddy" babygro as a belated birthday present if all goes well at the scan. If it doesn't, I figure me having bought a babygro isn't going to change the outcome. But other than that I don't plan on buying anything until 20 weeks.

cyclinggirl22 · 14/08/2016 23:21

Thanks namechange for the spreadsheet great idea nice to easily see when people are due and where people are from Smile

Dozygirl · 15/08/2016 06:48

I want to know what I'm having some wouldn't buy anything 20 week scan. Already have everything else I need as I've got dd, my biggest issue is deciding whether to get a double pram or buggy board or just use a sling for the baby. I absolutely love my pram now but it's a single.

Dozygirl · 15/08/2016 06:49

Sorry that first sentence makes no sense! I'm waiting till 20 week scan because if it's a girl I don't need to buy anything but if it's a boy then id like to buy some boy clothes.

louise1609 · 15/08/2016 07:06

Had an early scan on 3rd and follow up today - just a bit terrified....

Cloey, I agree with the others you definitely need to complain!

Good luck to everyone having 12 week scans thus week Flowers

NameChange30 · 15/08/2016 07:49

Good luck for your scans today louise and neon! x

charlybs · 15/08/2016 07:55

Yes good luck Louise & neon.

I think I'd like to buy a little something after the scan. I still don't know whether I want to find out the gender. DH does, but if we do I certainly don't want to tell anyone else, as personally I'd rather avoid the influx of pink/blue stuff as I don't like it. So happy to buy something unisex or neutral after the scan Smile

tutulove1 · 15/08/2016 08:21

Hope all goes well at the scans Neon and Louise.
Neon I know people who have had the Phil and Ted they loved it, the only thing negative that they mentioned is that the bottom seat is quite low and so the underneath of the buggy can get quite muddy. I went for the Icandy pear and loved it but it is pricey.
By the way I'd definitely recommend an isofix base to everyone for the car. It's so much easier than messing about with seat belts just click it into the isofix base and job is a goodun.
Also, I'd recommend buying a pack of nappies and a few packs of wipes every time you go shopping from now on. You would be amazed how many nappies and wipes you get through at the start.

tutulove1 · 15/08/2016 08:22

Dozy girl what will be the age gap between your two? I forget.

tutulove1 · 15/08/2016 08:34

CharlyB your post re the pink and blue thing sounds like me 4 years ago. I really didn't want my little girl in all pink I thought I'd like her in blues and navy's and was quite vocal about it.
Anyway, when she came out I had to change my mind quickly as the colour that most suits her complexion is pink, I tried to fight it but had to give in in the end. She also really suits neon colours. I wouldn't have dreamed of buying her neon it's not me at all but she had a few presents in neon she'd been brought and they suited her so much.

charlybs · 15/08/2016 08:59

Tutu brilliant, love that she's a neon and pink kinda girl Smile that would be fine for me if that's what they suited when they popped out, I am just so aware of gender roles (my job has a lot to do with feminism etc) that I'm mindful of those clothes that stereotype kids. (Which obviously isn't just the colour but you know)

Dozygirl · 15/08/2016 09:08

Charlyb I was the same. When I found out I was having a girl I went to asda and all i saw was baby blue and baby pink and I felt physically sick haha. As it happens I got so many outfits as gifts from people I had no choice but to dress her in pink. I didn't want a pink nursery but people have bought accessories and pictures for her room that are pink so they now clash with how I decorated it. I'm not really a feminist and have nothing against pink and blue but I just didn't really want it.

Tutu there will be 19 months between them. Dd just turned one last week. She's a very active 1 year old and has been walking since she was 9 months but I know she'll still want to be in a buggy sometimes at 19 months. I wanted to get a more lightweight stroller anyway as my pram is pretty heavy and I was getting fed up so a lightweight double buggy might do me just fine rather than a full double pram.

AngelBlue12 · 15/08/2016 09:12

I've got a booking appointment tomorrow with a HCA at the surgery and then I'll get reffered to the MW :)

Butterpuff · 15/08/2016 09:22

Blimey you are all very chatty. I've not logged on for a few days and have pages and pages to catch up on. Hope everyone is having a good Monday so far. Will be back later once I have caught up.

alphabook · 15/08/2016 09:27

Good luck today Louise and Neon!

Another one here who feels strongly about gender stereotypes. I am determined to dress my baby in gender neutral clothes, although I'm sure I'll get a lot of pink/blue gifts.
