Hi Funkky. I'm due on the 16th so we'll see who comes first! Do you know what you're having? I'm having a girl and already have a 10 year old DD.

What is this gluocse test? Is it for gestational diabetes? Seems like a few mums on here are having it.

Just bought some nice maternity stuff on the Vertbaudet website. There was a leaflet with the Bounty pack with 30% off but now they've got a 70% sale on so I got some good bargains - pretty top, jeans, denim dress and bra Smile

funkky · 25/07/2016 11:14

Thanks! It's over and I survived. Having a hot chocolate. Enough, yes it's to test for diabetes and I think you are tested based on your risk factor. E.g. My dad is diabetic. Also ds was a 10lb10 baby so while I wasn't diabetic then, they need to rule it out this time as well. I have growth scans every three weeks to check this baby s weight and confirm sex. At 20 week scan, the sobigrapher said 90% girl but wasn't sure. Hope everyone is faring nicely and experiencing some pregnancy glow of sorts?

ChatterNatterer · 25/07/2016 13:08

Glad the GTT is out of the way - I remember thinking the clock was going backwards in the waiting room! LOL!

positivity123 · 25/07/2016 13:54

Just got back from my midwife appointment and my bump is measuring quite small. It is on the 10th percentile - she didn't seem worried though and apparently it is not very accurate.
I'm 28+5 and totally knackered. I've been feeling great all of my second trimester but now feel exhausted. Anybody else really feeling a big change? I had a blood test today to see if I'm iron deficient and I'm going to have a big chilli con carnelian for dinner as that has a tonne of iron in.
Hope the GTT went OK
enough I'm so sorry you are having a tough time.

Kariana · 25/07/2016 13:56

That's a lovely set Chatter, hope it isn't delayed again! We went for the Rialto set in white so hopefully they haven't got any problems too.

Had the whooping cough vaccine today and was warned my arm might swell because my tetnus is up to date Confused At least it's over and done with.

Bluecarrot · 25/07/2016 14:10

Thanks for reminder about whooping cough. Vague recollections of being told to call GP to arrange it!

I'm scheduled for GTT in a few weeks but for last month have been getting dizzy and nauseous after eating certain things, always thirsty and constant thrush so pretty sure I have it. ( no diabetes in family but dd2 was 11lbs)

Eating mostly diabetic food and trying to up exercise but feels overwhelming.

SchnitzelvonKrummsverylowtum · 25/07/2016 14:13

Sorry you're having a tough time enough.

Kariana I had the whooping cough jab last week. The nurse said that as I have had the jab before when I was pregnant with DS, and have had whooping cough, I might react quite badly. My arm was very sore for a few days afterwards, but didn't swell, and I didn't have any other reaction. It made sleeping on my left side a bit uncomfortable though!

April241 · 25/07/2016 14:20

enough hope you're feeling better today, we're always here if you need to talk :)

funkyy glad your test went well, sounds awful from what I've read :( bluecarrot hopefully you don't have it!

I had physio this morning and came out with a back brace for supporting my left hip. She stretched it out and it was bleeding agony >< hope this helps, I was near in tears last night trying to roll over in bed. My OH has been helping me in and out of bed and the car, feel like a 90 year old woman!

Started packing our hospital bags at the weekend and washed the first load of babies clothes for the hospital, they're so tiny!!! Also picked up our pram on Saturday and there's a part we need to use a second carrycot that the sales assistant said we didn't need, have ordered it now, bit annoying but we have the car seats etc so still useable.

The rain is mental here today! So much cooler though, at last.

BlueberryMuffin85 · 25/07/2016 16:12

Positivity I think I may be iron deficient too I went for blood test last week and the next day had a call from the doctors saying I need to go back as they want to retest for iron as result was borderline. I'm absolutely exhausted too so think it must be iron deficiency. Seeing midwife tomorrow for 28week check will see what she says. Have been eating loads of spinach and need to increase red meat but will probably have to take another supplement which will then probably make me even more constipated, yay!!

Northernlight22 · 25/07/2016 17:16

My whooping cough jab is next Friday - didn't realise it could cause such a reaction! Hopefully it's not too bad as I'm away with family next weekend and don't fancy moping around!

April - I've started thinking about hospital bag but I keep feeling really overwhelmed when I think about what I need to sort! there are so many versions of the list online it just stresses me out!

I did buy some nappies and wipes today though - the nappies was stressful enough as I didn't have a clue on what size to get!

ChatterNatterer · 25/07/2016 17:54

I have started to google lists for hospital bags - scary!!

Also, I hate nighties, and finding one that buttons down for BF and fits and is reasonably price is gonna be difficult I reckon??

April241 · 25/07/2016 18:19

northern it is a bit overwhelming 🙈 For babies bag I've packed:

  • 6 vests
  • 6 babygrows
  • socks
  • mitts
  • 2 hats
  • going home outfit each inc cardigan/hat/blanket
  • nappies & sacks
  • wipes
  • bibs

And for me:

  • 1 nightie chatter I got mine on primark in a bigger size so when they're unbuttoned you could get a boob out 😉
  • 2 pairs of jammies
  • GIGANTIC pants
  • maternity pads
  • breast pads
  • bra
  • 2 tops
  • 2 pairs of leggings
  • toiletries
  • slippers
  • cardigan

Just need food/snacks, chargers, handheld fan and iPad.

Phew!!!

Northernlight22 · 25/07/2016 18:19

I agree - it's nightwear and something to wear to give birth in thats annoying me!

ChatterNatterer · 25/07/2016 18:26

Good list April are you going to take a dressing gown? I only have a fluffy heavy one (that I never wear as I don't wear them) think I may need to buy a lighter one for the sweat box hospital?
Yeah Northern - no idea what to get!!! :/

SchnitzelvonKrummsverylowtum · 25/07/2016 18:44

I had a nightie from Mothercare that was ok - it wasn't button down, but had a v-neck that could be pulled down for feeding. I also had a thin dressing gown from the debenhams sale that was really useful. I gave birth in a long line vest top. I would add flip flops to the list - good for wearing to the shower etc.

April241 · 25/07/2016 18:57

Oh yes flip flops! Good idea I'll add them now too.

I think I'm just going to take a cardigan chatter as the wards are usually boiling hot. I've got a few long ones so I'll just pack that.

FuckJeffGoldblumMan · 25/07/2016 20:17

I have a pain right down the middle of my stomach and it appears she is pushing against me

It's really Uncomfortable and giving me back pain no matter how I lay

I don't remember this happening with my 6 year old

Bluecarrot · 25/07/2016 23:25

I have a nightie did labour but pj bottoms and h&m nursing vests, plus a nightshirt from primark that buttons the whole way down for recovery. Also have some leggings and yoga pants earmarked for during the day in case I need to stay in a while ( 2 previous sections)
My advice is throw all your clean maternity knickers in at last minute. My waters leaked for ages and despite the pads I went through 8 pairs of pants.
A sports bottle you can drink out of while lying down ( disposable one fine of course!)
Tena pants for when you get home are good esp if any chance of being relatively immobile ( I worried about leakage with pads)

Bluecarrot · 25/07/2016 23:27

Oh and thank you cards for midwives.

Kariana · 26/07/2016 07:44

Oh gosh I haven't even thought about the bag for hospital yet, I was l leaving it until after the house move at the end of August. Hoping there's no surprises before then!

Positivity I was very slightly below 10th centitle for first measurement and on the 10th for this one. Midwife looked at the curve and just said "that's fine, I don't think you're going to have a big baby". Since I'm small myself I'm not worried at all and hope her prediction of a small baby is accurate. Someone has to be around the 10th centitle after all otherwise the average would just be higher!

I wouldn't worry about the jab Northern, my arm is slightly sore to lie on and has a very slight ache right at the top but it's only as if I've bruised it on something. I feel fine in myself so you should be ok for your weekend away.

Afreshstartplease · 26/07/2016 07:56

Morning all

27+6, got my 28 week appointment later today so will see where I'm measuring. There are concerns baby will be lga but TBH I've never measured big previously and last two babies classed as lga so I bet I'll be measuring fine

Northernlight22 · 26/07/2016 08:52

Anyone else getting a stitch like pain in their side? I was coughing loads yesterday and wondered if I've pulled a muscle! Think it's a combination of that with the weight of my bump.

Northernlight22 · 26/07/2016 08:52

Good luck today fresh!

Afreshstartplease · 26/07/2016 09:33

Ty northern

I get a stitch in the bump when I do alot, especially walking or sex! I've had this in all four pregnancies

Needabiscuit · 26/07/2016 10:39

I'v not been on this thread for ages but am following when I can

Thanks April241, I have taken screenshots of your list and am slowly getting my bags togetherSmile

I just wanted to ask if anyone is feeling really anxious about carrying, esp if this is a second/third etc pregnancy??
I'm so nervous about the baby being safe and well this time around, and it doesn't help that I had a scare at the weekend again!
