Morning....

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
ShowOfHands · 23/01/2007 13:25

Hey JL, glad you had a lovely time. I was wondering on the bus this morning (as Mathilda kicked ten bells out of my bladder) whether JL's DS-in-utero had started kicking yet and you've answered my question!

Just eaten an entire family-size bag of grapes in what must have looked like one inhalation. Grapes and corn on the cob, my two top cravings of the moment.

largeginandtonic · 23/01/2007 13:28

Have been icing cakes, answering phone to inept brother and DH and tidying kitchen. Inept brother deciding witch posh restaurant to take one of his girlfriends too ( i got her name wrong at first guess, but there are soooo many i cant be held responsible)

DH phoned just to scare the shit out of me i think......he said the ship he is on next are off to do a Falklands tour in 4 weeks (just as he finishes being away since Sept and is supposed to be home to help me) for 4 months!!!!!! So that would mean he'd be back in June..Im trying not to stress, really i am. Im hoping he can see his boss and get it changed. It's likely they will be ever so helpful and say "oh dont worry we will fly you back when she goes in to labour" Never mind the fact Hugs arrived in 40 mins and it takes at least 2 days to get back from the Falklands....And im here all alone with 5 children and no family....grrrr. Someone is going to get a severe ear bashing on the phone unless they start being very helpful.

I came upstairs to find Hugs has emptied out the giant tub of bubble gum gobstoppers all over the front room floor and had eaten (or tried to) a few. His nice pale blue jumper looks like a rainbow. At least he wasnt putting them in the toilet....

SOS please check your email and TYG please send me you address or i wont be able to send off your surprises in the post.

Right lunchtime now

largeginandtonic · 23/01/2007 13:30

I meant SOH check your email, i am in a state of SOS....

twelveyeargap · 23/01/2007 13:54

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Oh NO! I don't know what to say. Just try to keep calm until after he's spoken to the powers that be. He might have got it wrong, or the Admiral or the Captain or whomever is in charge might be more helpful than you think.

Surprises? For moi? But it's YOU that needs cheering up my love! Will email you. x

JL - will let you know what i think of the Hauck Infinity - it's similar and cheaper than the iCandy anyway. There's a woman who posts on here called missdee who has owned one and raves about it. Do a search for Infinity in Products and Pregancy topics. I think all the threads I found were in those. She (or someone) said you have to fold it down in two parts though. That's the only thing that would put me off really... Though also found out that the Mountain Buggy doesn't face backwards with the seat on, but with baby in the pram bit for 6 months it's not so much of an issue methinks.

So for you LG&T. Right. We need to think positive.

largeginandtonic · 23/01/2007 14:07

Vastly helped by enormous piece of cake and cup of tea to soothe frayed nerves....

Juicylucytoo · 23/01/2007 14:21

Boohiss - that sucks LG&T. Fingers crossed for compassionate bosses in navy.

TYG - will await your report and let you have my Topgear results...

ShowOfHands · 23/01/2007 14:26

Oh LG&T how crap.

I think we should all go en masse, taking any existing children and all of our manic hormones and go and sort it out. I'm not very shouty as a person, but I'm stubborn. I'll sit on the floor and remove to budge. I could cry too.

Seriously LG&T, what a bugger your DH's job is. I'm sure with a little tweaking they can change it. My cousin's DH is in the RAF and he was due to fly off to some far flung corner of the world but she is expecting a baby so they moved everything round for them straight away.

Checked email, have replied. I know your name!

notsolilKel · 23/01/2007 14:53

Hello ladies babies and bumps - LG&T I'm sending positive vibes to whomever it is who controls your hubby's schedule. It would be so rotten to be on your own...

LOL at the cats in toilet and guests discovering them

We met with m/w today who tried (again) to talk me out of a c-section. After (another) breakdown by me, when forced to relive trauma of A's birth, she finally started talking practicalities. SOOOO our date is 25 May. Now I just have to try to NOT go into labour before then!!! Last time round I was scrubbing floors & drinking rasp leaf tea trying to get things going and it worked too well birth at 37 wks!!

Anyone know any ideas for preventing labour from happening??

FSF a bit at your shopping luck. Well done!

drkgpink · 23/01/2007 15:05

Juicy lucy the massage is the elemis nurturing mother to be massage, is supposed to be very good but pricy at £50 although is a full hour. can't wait, my back is killing.

Juicylucytoo · 23/01/2007 15:16

drkgpink - where are you having it done? £50 for a an hours pampering isn't sooo expensive I think the hour long treatments at the sanctuary are about that.

OK, I've tried to get my profile to show and it doens't show my name with one of those tags, so what am I doing wrong??

Frenchsmallfry · 23/01/2007 15:25

Oh lg&t, they wouldn't do that to you surely. Try not to worry now, I'm sure N will sort it, if not I'm sure a phone call from you will.

My M:W appointment was cancelled til Thurday because of the snow. hehe didn't have to brave it. School was chucked out early too, all of one hour, think the teachers decided they fancied an early night. With only 40 odd children at the school it's not too hard for them to ring round everyone.

Would also be interested to hear any test drive thoughts on the haulk infinity, it's really good value but I'm not sure how the tiny front wheels will bear up on the rough ground here. Have to say that was another one of my worries that it doesn't fold down with buggy on. Could make it a bit bulky for traveling?

of your suprises TYG, ohhhh how exciting what are you getting?

OP posts:
Frenchsmallfry · 23/01/2007 15:27

Juicy have you changed the bit that says "reveal to the public" or something along those lines?

OP posts:
largeginandtonic · 23/01/2007 15:52

Heee heeee surprises on their way for SOH and TYG....lovely gossipy ladies in the post office. Would love to work there!

FSF whats the post like over to you, does it take any longer than our 1-2 days for 1st class? >

Im soooo pregnant, caught a side view of myself this afternoon, i try not to look in the mirror. I remember why now

School run over, kids all full of cake and quiet. I have a massive pile of washing to put away but am feeling too lethargic now.

Jonahb you were asking about the Jane powertwin earlier, it is nice to push but very bulky and awkward to get in and out of a boot. Im not sure if it would fit in a fiesta either. The Jane twin 2 looks very nice though and folds smaller. It is 4 wheels but that makes it more stable too.

scootermum · 23/01/2007 15:55

Largegandt-we could be like the women of Burnham common and camp out till the navy promise to let your dh stay home.Im quite excited.Im going to look my tent out when I get home!

GP has just called to say dd has a urine infection, so off now to get her some more antibiotics-before he thought she had an ear infection so she's been on a few for that..I dont care as long as they work!
They also tell me my iron levels are 6.5 instead of 11.5.So thats maybe why ive not been feeling very energised.Thats a relief anyway as otherwise was beginning to think there was something seriously amiss..

lwatkins-think I would move back too.I find it hard beign just 3 hours away from any family support and as none of my original friends have babies they dont really get it when I say I could use some real help-(though they are good for the odd bit of babysitting now and again to be fair). All my sort of antenatal class type mates are good though, but nothing to compare with some good old family..Your Mum sounds a gem anyway..Wherever you live I think the easiest way to make friends is to get sprogged up-we moved to a new area 3 weeks before dd arrived and we've loads of mates there now just through classes and baby massage and all that..Plus, just think you can get your lovely Mum to look after the baby and have a lovely weekend away in Bristol now and again when you fancy a bit of a drink up..perfect!
19?Grrr, you will lose all the baby weight in about 4 days and look like Elle Mcpherson, whereas it will take me 9 months of hell again!
bugger it, where are my biscuits?!

Frenchsmallfry · 23/01/2007 16:07

lg&t Post is good, 2 days normally, but don't be silly. I was only playing. Bake a cake for when I'm over. Ummmmm or we could go somewhere for cream tea, Know anywhere? I LOVE scones and jam and clotted cream, I could eat the cream with a spoon. Thats why I am now HUGE!!!!!!!!!!! Do you know I'm actually looking forward to loosing weight after baby arrives, think it's all about positive early thoughts. Can't do it now though,
pregnancy = food

OP posts:
Juicylucytoo · 23/01/2007 16:12

FSF - I did the view for all. Don't know what I've done wrong. Will try again tomorrow.

Yum cream teas. I want one. Although would also settle for snickers icecream...I just want to eat all the time today. Sooo bored at work (well that's my excuse )

LupinsBigLump · 23/01/2007 16:19

Pebble I know what you mean about it seems a long way off or not, I was thinking about it earlier, officialy I have 18 weeks till d day, however I am not going to let them let me go beyond 38 wks so that cuts it down to 16 weeks BUT dd was 5 wks early, consultant has said quite possible to happen again so that is just 13 weeks - thats not long at all, just as long as it took us to tell people OMG - are you ready at all, lol???

LGT lol at your new toilet washing machine, hope your dh gets home in time for babies arrival and to help you out, what a nightmare that he can just be told where and when he has to go somewhere

Juicy glad you had a nice break, I am a woooos no dentist booked yet, I know how bad it can be my mum had to have all her teeth removed in one go as she got so many abcesses, calcium deficency in pg apparently

Lilkel well doen on getting a date, keep your legs crossed and have plenty of lounging around is my suggestion

Scooter hope your dd feels better for some antibiotics

FSF, please keep all your snow ovr there, I normally would be saying send some over but dont want to walk the slippery hill this winter "in my condition"

Need to go and have a bath am chilly to the bone, had to go and buy new hat gloves scarf today, and while I was there I HAD to get some new walking boots, they were in the sale so I feel justified

twelveyeargap · 23/01/2007 16:21

DD helpfully left her schoolbag on the bus today. Doh. I'm not going to go mad, because, let's face it, we've all done it. And I am currently the most forgetful plank of foolishness in the world at the moment, so I would be a hypocrite too. Rang the bus garage but no sign so far. Will call tomorrow. Annoying thing is that there was a cheque for £120 for her meals card to do up to Easter, which I will have to cancel if no sign of the bag. Plus the cost of replacing it and all the sodding stuff in it. Thankfully her phone was in her pocket. And her keys, else I would be on my way home now to let her in!

Actually, she left a VM for me this morning to tell me and said she'd call Transport for London. Was rather impressed that she had the number of the bus garage all ready for me when she called as soon as school was out. I was pleased by her initiative. Kind of negated the sillyness of leaving it in the first place!

BTW - re the Infinity. Have been reading up the many, many, many old posts on pushchairs. The cons of the Infinity are the same as the Bugaboo and iCandy. You have to take the seat off to fold it. Tsk. I think it's jsut a bit more of a faff than I could bear, but will probably try it out anyway.

Am more or less settled on the MB. Cons are that the seat cannot face rear, but as mentioned, the carrycot does. That's about it really. Lots of people saying not to believe the hype about the Bugaboo (or Infinity) folding small, as you have to take the handle off it and all sorts of messing about to make it smaller.

However, if you're not likely to need to fold the pushchair much, then it's not as much of a consideration I suppose.

largeginandtonic · 23/01/2007 16:30

Cream, eeeewwww. Im not a fan, i do like Jam and Scones though We may have to go to Devon for proper scones n jam, plenty of places there for it. I have a friend in Plymouth that was prg the same time as me, we used to go in to Dingles for coffe ad i would have a massive yum brekkie and she would always have a Scone, huge pot of cream and jam with a hot choc. When she had her baby ( i was birthing partner) i actually looked at him closely to see if he was a giant scone. She was tiny too, and lost all the weight in about ooooh 3 days! Humph

FSF im growing at an alarming rate too, i have waves of i must be good and dont want it to take forever to lose the weight and swing right round to sod it pass the cake, pizza, donuts mmmmm

Scooter, did you read further down the link at my FLORADIX orders? 6.5 is terrible for an HB count, if you wanted a home birth they wouldnt let you with an HB like that. Send your dh directly to the chemist for it and get some, eat lots of dried apricots, spinach (raw if you can) green leafy veg in general and red meat. Drink fresh orange juice with it all as vit C will help you absorb the iron more easily.

You must be feeling sooo tired. Rest lots too if you can manage it.

Thank you for all your girl power with regards to bloody Navy. If they send him away im going to be straight on the phone to the Navy welfare people and claim a breakdown Will probably be having one by then anyway. He will have missed the entire prg!!!

Tea time soon, the kids have git chicken wings in the oven. Shall i do roast or serve with rice n vges, chinese style? Think i may wait till later and have pizza to chear myself up

twelveyeargap · 23/01/2007 16:31

Good to know why you're feeling low Scooter. I mean, apart from having various lurgies decend on you and your house of course. Hope the anti-biotics work.

Might actually go to Boots and get some of that iron stuff LG&T mentioned.

When I had DD they put you on iron from week 13 as standard. And this time I never even got my blood results. Had my 12 week appt with the midwife, then saw the GP at 16 weeks who hadn't heard from the hospital and have yet to have another midwife appt til 28th Feb. I assume that if I was dying or had some chronic condition that they would have told me by now. Or perhaps I should call.

I presume MKG's 'puter is still not 'puting? Didn't she say it had to be repaired?

aprilmeadow · 23/01/2007 18:24

All this talk of cakes and scones is just tooooooooo much. Have been looking at the fruit saying 'must be good' but deep down, actually not deep down at all, all i want is some sugary naughtyness.

LG&T, I hope that you and your dh are able to plead with the Navy. A whole load of stress that you can do without.

largeginandtonic · 23/01/2007 18:34

Kids all fed and bathed, dts just sorting their tip of a room (typical boys) dd sulking in her room. She got all her spellings right today and would normally get a treat but after bath time she went in to ds#3 room and taunted him (he fell and hurt his knee at school today, has been moaning ever since) and then kicked him for good measure. She then lied about going to his room and damaging him. Aaaaaagghhhhh DS #4 is sat on the couch being very good having been told off for repeatedly whacking dd with the dt #1's sonic screwdriver and then laughing, they learn young in this house. He is 2 on saturday, if he makes it

I may order pizza tonight to go with the wine i am drinking, poor baby in utero, i wonder if it will ever be brave enough to come out. Im not sure i would. Perhaps 6 is enough.....

Lwatkins · 23/01/2007 19:40

Well i've had a very productive day, and could now sleep really well but wont for another few hours! I rang the uni im looking to transfer to about the family accomadtion and they currently have 4 houses, all 2bedroom, bathroom, lounge, kitchen/diner with garden space! And it's only £10 more a week than what im paying here. And i can stay there until the end of my studies, and the nursery there takes from 3 months! Could this be sounding any better, it's perfect!
Hopefully i'll here by the end of the week if i can have a preliminary place on the course and then i'll put a deposit down of the accomadation! Cant believe im actually doing doing this, everything's finally falling into place, you should see my cheshire cat grin!

Juicylucytoo · 23/01/2007 19:49

Wow LWatkins. That all sounds really positive.

I really admire you for planning to carry on straight away with your studies. Good for you.

Pebblemum · 23/01/2007 19:57

Thats great news, your accomodation sounds better than where im living Will keep fingers crossed for you and hope they let you know sooner than later so you can start making plans.
