Since we only have about 15 posts remaining I thought I'd make up the new one.

Lots of babies have arrived already but still plenty of us pregnant too. Here's to our June 2016 babies Smile

Great news Eastend. I hope things continue to improve. I have found that babies will pretty much only sleep on someone for the first few nights until your milk comes in. After that they're often happier to be in a carry cot. So don't worry about going home and needing to use one. And you can still get lots of cuddles!

strawberrypenguin · 22/06/2016 03:30

Good to hear you are feeling better eastend glad things are going well. Boo for night time poo's, they always seem worse than day time ones!
Waiting for Bertie to do a huge poo soon - he didn't do one yesterday and is farting like a trooper!

iamdivergent · 22/06/2016 08:58

I just updated the spreadsheet - 60 babies have been born, 60!

Eastend - so glad you're feeling a bit better now. It sounds like you had a really tough time. On the poo front, the black, sticky poos they do in the first couple of days, from my understanding consists of all the things they've ingested while in the uterus and that's why there is so much of it, even though they are only getting a little colostrum. I was soooo thankful for waterwipes, they did a really good job compared to the faffy cotton wool and water combo I used with DS1!

Hugs to all ladies still waiting to have their babies. With DS, I was in the April 2012 antenatal group and didn't have him until May 4th. Some of the other babies were already smiling and sleeping well by the time mine turned up! It doesn't help that we've also had loads of early arrivals in this group either.

Well Angus arrived at last! Weighing 8lb 10oz and measuring in at 54cm. Ended up with an EMCS and still very teary about it.

I was in to get induced on Sunday night. I had my first pessary at about 11:00 and it did nothing. I got a second pessary. At 06:00 on Monday and spent the day marching up the stairs to the top floor of the hospital and back down in an attempt to get the contractions started. Which they did at last but didn't really do anything so I was given a sweep on Monday night and they got a bit stronger but not strong enough so I had another sweep on Tuesday morning and eventually dilated to 2-3cm. They took me up to the labour suite at 11 am to break my waters and put me on the dreaded drip. Nothing really happened until late on. I was having some heavy frequent contractions and when the checked me I was still only about 4cm. I ended up getting an epidural because the drip made the contractions awful. (I was really upset at this because I didn't need anything with DD) eventually at midnight I was ready to push. Pushed and pushed for an hour and a half but he didn't budge. The doctor then came in and whisked me off to theatre to have a section as Angus was back to back and oblique. Don't think I've ever been more nervous and scared. But he arrived safe and well at 2:18 this morning. I am shattered. But it was all worth it for my gorgeous boy!

Registered today, here is baby Amy Preeya at 3 days
Went to the beach after registering her today, milk has come in and I feel on top of the world! Hoping I don't crash and burn in the next few days though...
Hang on in there all you ladies still waiting- it will be worth it!
I've been taking arnica to help reduce swelling bruising etc and I think it must be working as my bits feel almost normal and my breasts haven't gone rock hard and painful this time round. Worth a try!

GrubbyWindows · 23/06/2016 17:55

Ps- neha how's your belly button??? Mine is pretty much back to normal, I suddenly remembered you asking about it ages ago, tee hee!

Eastend2015 · 23/06/2016 18:34

Congratulations all!! very attractive babies on this thread too!

lovelilies glad the arnica helps, keep going every 2 hours religiously!!

Magic sorry to hear it's been rough, big hugs! While I wouldn't make any different decisions, I only read the notes from my labour yesterday and they only realised I'd lost so much blood after weighing the swabs and that made me feel a bit different and quite teary too...

lovelilies · 23/06/2016 20:21

Has anyone else's baby's cord stump gone smelly? Amy's stinks but there's no other obvious signs of infection. We have used a cord tie rather than a clamp if that makes any difference

GrubbyWindows · 23/06/2016 20:48

lilies definitely get onto the midwife about that, no stinkiness here (I'm sure it's fine, but you'll put your mind to rest!)

PissPotPourri · 23/06/2016 22:04

lovelilies, I've had exactly the same with Domenic's stump today. Absolutely reeked this morning, and was still very slimy with white around the base. We phoned the mw who said it's normal but to keep it dry and get some fresh air on it if possible. So we dressed him in a top and trousers instead of the usual vest and gro, and aired his midriff while we went to vote today, and also had him in the garden in the same. What a difference, it shrivelled within hours and fell off tonight! No smell at all now. Still a bit gooey actually in the button, but I think that will be gone by tomorrow. So air it if you can!

MindfulBear · 23/06/2016 22:37

Hello!
We used a cord tie & the cord fell off on day 7. That morning I wondered if it was smelly but it had come off by lunchtime & smell gone.
Am sure the cord tie meant it fell off quicker than DS cord did (used plastic tie that time)

This time we have not washed DD so the cord has never been wet. Now it has fallen off we will consider a bath!! We were told to keep the cord dry to hasten the shrivel!!!

lovelilies · 23/06/2016 22:51

We haven't bathed her, so it's kept dry but I think we put the tie too close to her bodyConfused
Seeing MW tomorrow so will ask.
She's so tiny the nappy covers the stump so difficult to air it, I've folded it down but it pops back

ILovePies · 23/06/2016 23:51

Hi all,
Just been catching up! There has been as massive baby boom!!
Congratulations to all that have had their babies. Sorry to hear some of you didn't get the births you wanted.

Baby Dougie arrived on 18/06/16 at 1956, weighing a healthy 9ib :)
I had the gel on the Friday which gave me a few contractions but nothing too exciting! I was examined that evening & was told I was around 2cm dilated & I would have my waters broken in the morning. The next day my waters were broken around 1130. I was examined again at 130 and there had been no change. I decided to give myself more chance of having a natural birth and went on the syntocin drip. 2 hours after, I was getting lots of pain in my scar. The consultant came in & was happy my scar was ok but was concerned that I was now still only 3 cm and in a lot of pain so suggested an epidural which I gratefully accepted! I had the epidural at 5pm, I was examined again at 7 pm and to my shock I was 8 cm dilated! I started pushing at 740 & he was here at 756pm. Unfortunately I had to be cut due to his heart rate dipping & nearly had to have vontouse but luckily he came out before they were used.
Over the moon to get my vbac :)

We are now on day 5. The nights are very very long! He doesn't like to sleep! But he's feeding really well :) his brother & sister adore him.

Good luck to everyone still waiting & hope everyone else is recovering well Flowers

Thanks Gnomette! So far so good. Thanks for all the reassurance xxx Was it you who said womb contracting down pains were worse than you remember? I agree!
