Pebble, I'm v v impressed with your DH. It takes a special guy to face a situation like this and say "you know what? my wife needs some pampering!" If by some awful twist of fate he should need a new job, perhaps he could start giving sensitivity lessons to some other hubbies out there I know it's risky spending some savings, but if you keep some aside, IMHO, you're using it wisely (to destress and rekindle the marriage, I mean what else is going to save you?)

Just got back from pedicure. Have ridiculously overcompensated for hideous weather and grumpy self, and selected very bright pink for toes! What's better is I have to continue with the flip flops while they dry, so the sweet ladies at nursery will wonder where on earth I get my fashion sense from, when I go to get DH from his "weekly break from mama" in a few mins. Oh dear I'm not becoming desp houswife after only 10mo am I ??

I also love the letter writing agency idea. Congrats on all your victories - Bounty bar included

Do you think DD gets stroppy because she's outnumbered? by the chaps? What age is she again?

We should probably do the Foundation's first letter to your ex-P, LG&T. I can't let things go. Not that kind of thing.

She is only 6!!! I cant belive it myself!

Ex p is a prat indeed, we are\have been trying to negotiate via email for some sort of agreement about money. The CSA are so rubbish, and not vaguely interested. He is/was offering £300 a month. Im trying to get him to agree to signing the car over to me and dropping all the ridiculous police charges against me for 'stealing' the childrens beds, drawers, fridge and freezer. If he does all this i will take the £300 a month and drop the CSA. He is dragging his feet and being a prick, after all he can. He has all the money, i refuse to use the kids as a carrot in this mess. Im not sure it would work anyway, the courts are so crap and would give him access regardless of money. They dont mix the 2 issues anymore.

Im left between a rock and a hard place most of the time, it sucks

Hmm. That's just not good enough is it?

Is there some sort of mediation scheme you can try, or is it too far gone for that?

Was just thinking along the lines of mediation, ending with a legal agreement with provision for increases at the rate of inflation included.

LGT the weightwatchers advertising does my head in too. Jumped in with the email/annoyed letter brigade and just sent the site people a note about it. think its pretty irresponsible to have it on her tbh.

Oh i do love how you get all legal.....

I think if we manage to agree on something im getting it drawn up by a solicitor and he has said he will increase the payments in 3 years when he has paid some of his debt off. WTF do i care about his debt...hey ho.

Have just checked my email and sent you one TYG and one to Scooter to see if she is ok.While i was checking i got hopelessly excited by this

Evening all,

Been to lunch today with friends, ate too much cake!!

Glad your appointments were OK, pebble, shame about the colsultancy wait for ds, typical of the UK. Sorry to big up France again but he would be in for a MRI and electode scan here within a week. Hope dh's shoulder doesn't play up too much and good on him for thinking of you.(not many men are able to do that)

TYG, that is one thing I am able to write, snotty letters, I love them, I am a complainer sorry to say it. If I pay good money for something or a service I expet to get exactly what I ordered. My favorite place to complain in Mac'y d's. Lg chips my arse it's just a bigger card board box usually. If I pay for large chips I want large chips that means fill it up, Oh and they better be hot too or they'll go back. (sorry to who ever it is who's dh works for them, think it's scooter! SORRY if you are lurking) With other things I have had great results, refunds, free stuff, complimentary vouchers etc.... I think it comes from my Dad one of his favorite sayings is "I feel a letter coming on". I do have one rule though. There must be real reason to complain, if the problem was out of someones control or a genuine mistake then I may mention it politely but do not complain as such, to be honest that tatic usually get the best results. I think your letter talk is a fab idea, watch dog by post!

Hope you are not getting too blown away lg&t, I called Gran to check she is OK. She said it is awful, she was fine and wrapped up in a blanket watching the snooker. It's
about 90degrees in her flat, I think the blanket is to prove the steryotype theory. Sorry about your ex (wanker) he really needs to get his priorities right. Wonder if come feb he may be scared of dh if you send him there with his sword to sort him out.

largeginandtonic · 18/01/2007 18:33

Mmmmmmm dh with a sword..... I cant wait. Not sure wielding it over ex p would be such a good idea though tempting as it may be....

Glad Granny is ok, i would hope she didnt even venture out today, Hugs and i with our combined weight (quite a formidable size) nearly got blown over in the playground!!!

Have given the kids a total cheat tea tonight, fishfingers, chips and broccoli. Im not feeling very inspired by my cupboards and im out of spinach What will i have for tea???

A huge box of KK's would be very nice mmmmm

Report
Frenchsmallfry · 18/01/2007 18:47

You had better make that trip lg&t you know the craving will not go away until you get some.

Report
Frenchsmallfry · 18/01/2007 18:48

ds calls brocoli, little trees he won't eat it for that reason. Sorry would have had to have been baked beans with fish fingers and chips.

Report
largeginandtonic · 18/01/2007 19:01

Jonah does not like baked beans, he calls them orange beans!! Broccoli is also called mini trees in this house, mine are just vicious tho and bite the 'head' off the tree with glee...

STOP encouraging me FSF.....there is no way i can justify a trip to KK and 4 hours in the car. Money far too tight at the moment >

Anyway what shall i have for tea, am hungry now.....

notsolilKel · 18/01/2007 19:10

I'm going to make cabbage to go with salmon for our tea tonight. never made cabbage before but I was inspired by that horrid show "You Are What You Eat" - am I the only one seriously affected by these shows? Dunno if my recipe is exactly healthy though as I'll be adding bacon lardons...yumm.

Do you think you could dash a letter off to KK requesting heart shaped creme-filled ones? those are my very favourites

just popped in to say hello to everyone - have tried to keep up with the thread but it's not going too well!

Dh is stuck in Warrington trying to get back home (we are in Northants) - he left Blackpool nearly 5 hrs ago so doubt he will be home before I go to bed.

work is starting on our house soon - am trying to negotiate with builders and find a decent electrician, source the bricks etc.

Heartburn is kicking in big time now - had forgotten how revolting it is. Plus I'm very tender on rib cage under my right breast - feels swollen sometimes - anyone else suffered with this?

On another note - Dd has a verucca - have been putting the gel on for 3 weeks solid - how long do they usually take to go?

Got to go - our PC is on the landing and Dd won't stop talking to go to sleep while I type...

Hey - toomanyprojects - are you north northants? I'm on the border with CAmbridgeshire.
Pebble - sorry to hear about DS, DH etc.It does feel that everything happens at once and you just want to shout out "hey, I'm pregnant, I'm MEANT to relax". I am sure that they will sort DS out and the positive thing about waiting 6 weeks is that you could probably assume that they are not too worried about him and it is probably quite mild.

Talk of umbilical stumps - when DS's stump fell off I was going to throw it away (obviously) and then had a ridiculous sentimental moment so shoved it in a box so that I could throw it away when feeling less sentimental (ok pretty gross i know). Anyway, we were burgled when DS was about 8 wks old and they took the box with the stump - ha ha. that solved my problem AND I had the satisfaction that they would open the box expecting to find jewellery and found a shrivelles stump instead.

PS will throw away stump of this one...

Pebble, sorry to hear about your ds i hope that the contsultant appt comes through quickly for you.

LG&T, glad to hear that you are feeling better. Sorry that your t-wat of an ex is still mucking you around. I also got the KK email and spent quite some time looking at the heart shaped cherry filled chocolate covered yuminess!

I am off to London next Friday for a charity meal at the House of Lords and am seriously trying to work out if i can get to Selfridges beforehand to pick up a selection of kk's and then try and distribute them to needy may07ers! My boss will be in town all day so maybe i could send her off to collect 2 dozen kk's and then meet me in the car park to bring them home........... I wonder what time Selfridges close???? or is it Harrods?

Weather here is just soooo lovely. Neighbours fence blew into our garden, tiles have come off the roof, although not sure if it is from the house or garage. Power keeps flickering and there are loads of trees down around where i work and live.

Baby has been kicked the crap out of my insides all day. Some have even taken my breath away. I have a nice pair of under the bump jeans from next mat range and they are now too small, they have been digging in all day and baby has been complaining loads. She seems to be lying quite low as i have also got a feeling of discomfort. I too have also have the pains down below. Oh the joys! Bump is feeling quite heavy now. I dont remember feeling this with Jack until much later. 25weeks today

Benson, hope your builders manage to sort out the ceiling and your heating issues.

FSF, how is everyone doing in your house? Is A feeling stronger?

I think i have 37 working days left.

I cant believe how healthy some of you ladies are. I feel like the junk food junkie. Yesterday i had burger and chips down the pub with my brother for lunch and then a pizza for tea. today i had a foot long subway for lunch and fish and chips from the takeaway for tea with angel delight for pudding. have been eating fruit on most days but dont think it will have been enough to counter balance the junk.

Jack is just so lovely at the moment (21mths) and seems to understand all about the baby. Whenever you ask him who is in mummy's tummy he replies 'Ella'. its very sweet.

anneme - we are the other end of Northants - between Towcester and Banbury. Moved up from SW Surrey in June to what will be a lovely house in about 5 year's time. Was giving directions to a builder today who siad "I know your village - you drive over an old railway bridge and then past a dilapidated house... - that's us! He was rather embarassed!

Nothing like a impending new arrival to make you get cracking on sorting things out.

Regarding things for the baby, I sold virtually everything at NCT sales (thought my baby days were over) so had nothing at all apart from a couple of vests I found the other day. Have bought the grand sum of two bibs so far. Hoping to be inundated with bits and pieces from friends who no longer need them nearer the time!

Morning all. LG&T, we had fish fingers too! With buttery mash and peas and sweetcorn. My nana always used to put a little vegetable stock in the cooking water for the veggies and it's yummy. A little bit always gets on the plate and makes the mash a bit wet. It's great.

And DD also hates baked beans and also used to call them orange beans when she was little.

Aprilmeadow - you reminded me to look at my "days left" chart and after I took out the days off I've already planned, I've only got 44 days! Yay!

Going on holiday for the half term. My friend has a house in Spain, which is free that week and the flights are only £50 each so I'm jumping at it. If I stay at home with DD I'll end up killing myself working, so holiday is what I need.

Toomanyprojects, laughing at your builder being embarrassed, but I expect he was pleased to have a big job! Veruccas have lasted ages with my DD and we've usually found that the gel is usless (or perhaps we're just impatient). Try neat lavender oil on veruccas and warts and see if it helps. Her incredibly bad, large, multiple warts on her elbow went after two or three weeks of lavender twice a day. Her latest verucca (she's obviously prone!) unfortunately needed to be frozen, but the stuff you get in the chemist is very good. It's called Wartner. It's got a little pad that you charge up with liquid nitrogen (?) from a can and freeze the wart. It DOES sting a lot, but we only had to do it once. How old is your DD? I prob wouldn't use it on a child under 3 as they might not understand that the stinging was worth it! Oh and it's when it gets on the good skin that it stings - just so you know.
