Sexonslightlypuffylegs · 13/01/2007 13:52

Bugmum, hugs to you too. Having a rough ride of it.

My dh tbf is a good guy, but he does need nagging a lot!

CD, we are quite prudish in this house - well maybe not prudish, but just quite self conscious. Dd isn't though, but that is just kids being innocent. She gets her kit off whenever she can!

flumppootle · 13/01/2007 13:58

Sorry Sol you aren't having a great weekend either. How are you now, everything settled down?? hope so

Sexonslightlypuffylegs · 13/01/2007 14:23

Hi there, seems to have done. I am like a woman possessed though - keep going to the loo for a check! There is still a little bit, but not each time - sorry tmi!) Not enough to send me to my midwife. Thanks for asking.

BigBellyCornflakeKid · 13/01/2007 15:26

SOL - hope you are okay - I suppose we'll all get back into the pant checking thing soon! I wonder when the first one will be? Very scary thought

Runny - would go back to physio and if you need crutches would get them. My spd not so bad just sore at moment after 2 days at work. DH seems concerned about me today which is nice and has offered to cook a Raymond Blanc recipe for dinner - ribeye steaks with a peppered crust - will get yummy pudding to go with it!

Off to to swap my table with another freecycler for a larger rectangle one - have told them will have to do the moving in/out of car! Dh said something along the lines of 'what if I don't like it?' - errr tough shit mate - it's free and we get rid of the other one at same time! It is pine but varnished and ours isn't - but will get an oilcloth for it anyway on weds when at the Mall. If the varnish is thin may sand it down.

DH has taken the boys to Sainsburys to the coin counting machine with their money boxes to see if they get any 'folding money' (notes) to put in bank accounts - needless to say they are very excited about it - so would I if I had a money box! Maybe I should get one!

Did I mention that Babies R Us have said delivery will be on monday - hooooraaaah! Just waiting to see now if deliver cotbed and changing unit......

BigBellyCornflakeKid · 13/01/2007 15:28

and have that horrible metallic taste in mouth today - yuk.

AngeG · 13/01/2007 15:41

SOL - Hope you're ok honey. Thinking of you, sounds good that it's only a little. Still might be best to ring your mw after the weekend if it carries on just to be on the safe side.

For all of those with SPD you have my sympathy. I too have one of those attractive belt things. Runnyhabbit if it's still really sore think you should go back and get the crutches at least it will remind you and others that you need to take it easy and be careful. Mine really improved over Christmas but is starting to get worse again

On a brighter note DH had taken DS to see the football today and so I have a few hours to myself with strict instructions to take it easy and not do anything. Easier said than done though when things need doing.

Bugmum - hope you're feeling better soon. Hugs to you.

Sorry still can't keep up. Lots of love to you all. xx

maveta · 13/01/2007 17:54

Sympathy to all of you whose dh/dps are currently being a bit dim! I think women on the whole have a tendency to ´just get on with it´ and guys will happily sit back and let you, more than happy to think that you are getting a lifetime´s worth of fulfilment out of taking care of everybody´s needs.

Runny - crutches might not be a bad idea if only to force you to slow down and take a bit more care of yourself? Better safe than sorry, as is quickly turning into our motto on here!! And maybe make sure there is no room for ´I didn´t realise how bad it was´ excuse by sitting dh down and laying it out clearly for him? And of course, refusing to do more than you are able to!

Hope all of you who are having worries or feeling under the weather feel better soon.

Here it has been a beautiful day, blue skies and mild temperatures and there are little bonfires set up all around the village ready for the various bbqs tonight. Some worryinglyh close to houses but not mine at least!! Tomorrow is Sant Antoni which is the patron saint of animals so everyone (not us, not with our pets´ track record) takes their pets out to be blessed. It´s quite a sweet idea really and all the kids come out even with hamsters etc. in cages. Poor animals must be totally freaked out by it all.

BigBellyCornflakeKid · 13/01/2007 18:47

ROFL@ pets being blessed ...but only if in your good books! Maybe its just what your cat needs! LOL

My table swap went well - really pleased with mine - but could really do with a nice vase of flowers now....DH

Needless to say the coin counting machine caused huge meltdowns - I knew it would - but it was dh's idea to take them .... But they both came back with £20 each - dh has said I have to take them to post office to put into accounts - he has obviously learnt from his experience

Dh putting boys to bed - then cooking me dinner and going to watch 'What Women Want' - recorded it last week - so will light candles and try to make it all romantic

Emmymummy · 13/01/2007 19:21

BBCFK - £20 EACH? Very impressive! Have a lovely evening with your film & candles.

South East meet-up ladies - PILs have deffo confirmed for looking after dd that day, so stuff the kid's birthday party, I'm coming to Southampton!

Maveta - hope the animal blessing goes well (snigger!).

CaptainDippy · 13/01/2007 19:46

Wish my DH would be even remotely sympathetic or kind. Maybe it is because it is my third, he is a very good dad and does loads with the DD's, but he always expects me to join in too -doesn't do anything with them on their own. I know they are both under 3, but I do it most of the week while he is at work for goodness sake!! DD1 has been getting up earlier than usual recently and you'd think he hadn't slept in a month, all droopy eyed at the breakfast table and yawning throughout the day ..... Grrr!! I just don't think he even thinks about how tired you get being PG and carrying a huge great Bump around. I am just feeling a bit sick and tired of it atm, tbh. I just wish I could have a bit of TLC right now.

Sorry about that .....

Ahem.

Glad you've got childcare arranged EmmyMummy - it'll be fab to meet you - I am looking forward to it (although I am not looking forward to reminding DH he has the DD's that day!! Eeeeek!)

Sexonslightlypuffylegs · 13/01/2007 19:48

What a hilarious thought - the pet blessing. I am reminded of a scene in The Vicar of Dibley, where they all bring animals to the church!

Emmymummy, really pleased you can make it to Southampton.

Not much going on here. Dd has been great today and dh has been tops looking after her most of the time.

Touch wood, I have had no more bloody streaks - sorry, tmi - again! Baby is still pretty busy though and it really makes me jump. Can't say I like the sensation either. Maveta described it well when she said it felt like an eel turning around in your tummy! It so does!

BBCK, have a lovely evening. We too have a DVD - Brokeback Mountain!

CaptainDippy · 13/01/2007 19:51

Enjoy your evenings ladies!! DH would never watch either of those films in a million years - I end up watching stuff like that on my lonesome while he plays on the computer upstairs - What a saddo, eh!!?

Hope the spotting stops soon SOSPL. xxxx

CaptainDippy · 13/01/2007 20:00

Oh, and Runny, with regards to the Phil & Teds - you can have the cocoon either way if you are just using it for one bubba; but if you have the toddler seat on as well, you can't really have bubba facing you cos they'd be v.close to toddler's bum! Must say, never found them not facing me a problem - you can still see their cherubic little face just underneath you as you walk.

If anyone has anymore questions about Phil & Teds, please, please ask - I have not only owned one for two years, but I work in a shop that sells them and have to do at least a million demos each Tue afternoon!!

I LOVE my P&T!!

runnyhabbit · 13/01/2007 21:08

CD - does your shop have a website? and how do I convince dh we should get one....

hotlipsmummy · 13/01/2007 22:44

CD - glad the p&t gets so glowing reports. I've just ordered ours from Glasgow Pram Centre and its being delivered on Tues. Am very excited. Runny - i persuaded DH by telling him horror stories of DS jumping off the buggy board and under a bus!!! And agreeing to sell the mamas and papas pramette. Am hoping we get a reasobnable amount for it. Have spent this evening cleaning it ready for photos for ebay and to my mind it looks in very good condition for a buggy with 19 months use...

Not much other news here. Day of chores and tidying - can DHs "nest" as well??? DH has also cooked a batch of fish pie (DS's absolute fav) and shepherd's pie so we have about 20 frozen meals worth now!! Saves me the job on my days off work, totally brilliant!!

Sorry to hear some aren't feeling so good. SPD sounds totally horrid. RE baby movements DS barely moved ever and I was told that only worry when movement/lack of movement was something out of the norm for YOUR baby. Did help a little - and if you makes you feel better, DS is still quite chilled out (for a toddler anyway ) and nowhere near as hpyer as some I know in RL... This one on the other hand moves all the time... hope I'm not in for a nightmare...

YvieE · 13/01/2007 23:17

Just a quick hi to all - hope your w\e (what's left of it) is going well.
Runny so sorry to hear about the pain you are going through I really do feel for you.
WO i was having the same problem and on Thurs i called my midwives who told me to come to the day assesment unit. I got to hear the baby's HB and had a USS. Quite a few of the movements I could see her making I couldn't feel, so it has reassured me.

EllieK · 13/01/2007 23:43

weeonion i have a suggestion for you - crunch on some ice cubes!
i had a craving for them last time round and have done this time too, tho not as bad (last time i'd order an extra glass full of ice with my drinks when i went out!). just been crunching some (in a successful attempt to wind up Stephen, don't ask!) and my blue bean was wriggling like mad, then stopped when the ice had gone. give it a try x

and to all those ladies with SPD, i think you are amazing, my sister had it with both her two, and milked it loads. sorry to sound harsh but when she visited my dad she'd use her wheelchair and refuse to leave it, even tho i knew she'd been walking around without even her crutches half hour before! and with the first one she spent ages telling us it was so painful she couldn't possibly carry on at work, but then went camping in a tent for a week! we don't get on all that well!!!! so well done to all of you for just 'getting on with it', i really admire you all x

I seem to be becoming the late night poster on this thread... but not for long because.... DS2's room is finally finished!!!!!!! Tonight is the last night he will be in with us, so tomorrow night I'll be up there nice and early to read my book. You didn't think I'd be interested in doing anything else, did you?????

WO and all those worried about quiet babies - I have one too. Even though this is my third, I am a bit concerned, but oddly whenever I wonder to myself when last she moved she obligingly gives a little twitch - nothing to really put herself out, mind. That said, I will be glad to see the mw again this Thurs for some measuring, heartbeat listening and reassurance.

I have finally talked (well... bullied) DH into the fact that I am still desperate for a Stokke Xplory and WILL HAVE ONE. Serendipitously (longest word on thread???) one has just come up on eBAY which might be the right price for me - even in the colour I wanted, so keep everything crossed, y'all!!

Sexonslightlypuffylegs · 14/01/2007 08:17

Morning all. Some of you were up late! How is everyone today?
As usual, dd up early at the bloody weekend, and it is my turn today - boo hiss! Might go back to bed when dh gets up!

Well, we watched Brokeback Mountain for about 10 minutes and then switched it off! Could barely hear what they were saying; they seemed to mumble the whole time, and then, they rogered each other senseless in the tent! Nearly choked on my popcorn!
I have nothing against gay people in the slightest, and whilst I knew the film revolved around 2 gay cowboys, it was quite unexpected!

We ended up watching Confetti on Sky - far more relaxing to watch, and funny!

HHL, over your dh cooking all those meals for you all! Fabulous. I need to start thinking about that too. Last time, we lived on pasta and jar sauce, which I now HATE!

On the baby movement front, I wish mine was quieter. It is so active, and it is a nightmare when I eat anything - goes in to overdrive. I am beginning almost to fear eating, as I find it so uncomfortable.
Mind you, if it was the other way, ie not moving much, I am sure I would be worrying about it. No pleasing some people as they say!

So, what is everyone doing today? I am going to test drive a Picasso this afternoon which should be fun. Has anyone got one?

Right, I have gone on far too long. See you later. xx

liath · 14/01/2007 08:28

Morning!

Haven't seen Brokeback Mountain - sounds interesting.... Think it would be DHs idea of a nightmare film, can just imagine him squirming at any rogering action!

Actually on the DH front he's pretty good, we're having friends for lunch today and he did all the cooking yesterday then whipped up a lovely dinner! He always helps out when he gets back from work & is a really good cook.

My one current grump (and I apologised for dragging the tone of the thread into the gutter yet again) is that he seems to have completely gone off me, which is not only bloody frustrating considering my hormonal state of constantly being up for it BUt it also feeds my insecurity about being fat & unattractive while pregnant. . You'd think with my newly splendid bust he'd be all over me. Think I may have to talk to him about it becuase it's starting to make me a bit paranoid. Or buy a vibrator.....

maveta · 14/01/2007 09:16

Morning!

SOL - I loved brokeback mountain..I did watch with the subtitles on though as it apparently is a very mumbly movie. A couple of the sex scenes are a bit violent which I found uncomfortable but actually there isn´t many of them in the film, from what I remember, I think only a couple in fact. And overall I thought it was a really beautiful, and sad, love story.

Liath - sorry to hear that babe, it is horrible to your self confidence if you even suspect for a moment that your dh doesn´t fancy you. I would speak to him and yes, maybe get that vibrator anyway??!

maveta · 14/01/2007 09:30

Calling all opinions on cots please??!!

We have it narrowed down to the following:

Sherwood Cot

OR

Close and Cosy Bedside Cot

There´s nothing in terms of price between them so it´s just down to looks/practicality - could you tell me which you would go for and why? Of course you can say neither if you want!!

maveta · 14/01/2007 09:34

Also, they are both about 200 quid not including mattress. Is that too much to spend on a cot?? My mum is buying it and tells me not to worry about the price but she would say that. I don´t want to take the piss. It seems like there are some under 150 but most fall in the 200 quid bracket before jumping to really expensive.

I´ve mostly been looking at john lewis and mamas and papas but if there´s any other site I can look at will you let me know?

liath · 14/01/2007 09:53

They both look nice but the bedside cot might be more practical for the early months.

We got a mamas & papas cot bed, it's lovely quality & we htought a cot bed would last longer than a cot. It doesn't have a drop down side which is a big disadvantage if you've got a bad back.

It's worth buying through kiddicare if you can as they often have good discounts.

Emmymummy · 14/01/2007 09:58

Maveta - they both look lovely. We got dd's cot from Mothercare - we bought the cheapest cot they had and the most expensive mattress as we figured the matress was the most important thing (and buying from somewhere like Mothercare you are assured that the cot complies with all the health & safety legislation). The cot served dd well, and my nephew currently has it, I've just got to prise it back from my sister-in-law in a couple of months time...!
